  • I surprisingly won my new Christensen Arms MPR at auction. I didn't need another 6.5 Creedmoor, but this new rifle has a great reputation, from a rifle maker based in Utah, USA. This review will be ongoing as there will be many cartridge recipes tested and shown to you the viewer.

    As a reloader and shooter myself I know that feeling after you shot that third round. I saw the smile on your face. It's just something about it when it comes together. Which in this situation is sweet because you didnt really have to work for it plus simplifies your reloading as you get 2 for one. I wish I could find those gold dots. Good bullet on game. On that break in procedure stuff I just dont believe in it but if its makes u sleep better sleep well. Sweet rifle and thanks for video. Keep them coming

      We shall see on the next 4 loads with different bullets and bullet weights. Yeah the cleaning regiment seems a bit much, but the didn't write those instructions for their rifles just because they had extra ink to put in the manual, HaHa!

    Great accuracy! I'm sure your skill and ability have a lot to do with it though. Have you found any problems with magazine wiggling in the well? Another reviewer noticed it with the rifle he was reviewing and believes it may have been an isolated problem. He also had a problem with inconsistent accuracy and thought that the 2 problems could be somehow related. However, that was chambered in .300PRC.

      No I have not noticed "mag wiggle". My rifle, like any rifle does prefer some ammo over others, but all in all, I have to say my rifle is consistently a 1 MOA rifle and more than satisfactory for my hunting uses. studio.th-cam.com/users/playlistPLXqfgzMyk7eEau_mpD6ys0qUmXrxSCE1B/edit

    It isn't their precision build, but christensen's ca5five6 is one of my favorite rifles of all time. Easy sub-MOA groupings at 100yds with a crappy rimfire scope, and with good glass I'm sure it can accurately touch things around 600yds out. I'm glad to see the consistency of their craftsmanship, your review makes me want to grab the MPR as well.

    Can i ask your recipe? I'm looking at getting one of these rifles in the same caliber. To me 140 grain is the perfect bullet weight for the Creedmoor. I love Speer gold dots and Barnes triple shocks and have both of them loaded in my 6.5 Grendel just curious on what kind of powder and how many grains you used to be so successful with that tight group. Thanks for sharing this video

    I've heard the carbon fiber doesn't get hot in the sun like black aluminum? Also heard that type of barrel loses accuracy when hot from shooting? Not a problem hunting but be careful if load development takes 30-50 rounds(having to deep clean every 6 shots will allow cooling ! joking). Seems like the perfect rifle for you, light weight and accurate.

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carbon fiber wrapped barrel is new to me and a more expensive process than regular steel barrels, but supposedly the carbon fiber helps tp dissipate heat more efficiently and is stronger to help mitigate barrel whip.. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    What's the point of their "break in" process? What's it really doing?

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      According to their manual, they call it "Properly Seasoning a barrel" so it will maintain it's accuracy for the life of the barrel. The purpose is to eliminate any imperfections that may have occurred during the machining process, therefore making the barrel less likely to foul or accumulate copper or carbon.

    • @reloadingfun
      @reloadingfun 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 hmmm🤔 well the barrel starts eroding away just from shooting itself, I don't think a little burr really has a chance lol whether you do a "break in or not lol. Especially when you start getting into cartridges like the 6.5 prc.
      The fire cracking grabs copper also. Some break in isn't gonna stop that from happening.

      Mine had to be sent back for repair and their service is excellent. I got mine because it is lighter weight than my other chassis rifles, so it would serve as a hunting rifle quite well. Can't speak for the 6.5 PRC or what anyone else's experiences are.
