I don't think people are aware of how big of a role Namco played in the PlayStation's success. Their arcade ports were the best to be seen at that time and really stole the show from the Saturn. Ridge Racer, Tekken, and Ace Combat showed off what the PS1 was capable of, and blew the door off of all the competition

The PlayStation was simply the best system in the 5th generation with its library so vast and varied compared to its competitors, the biggest reason for the PlayStation crushing the N64 and the Saturn is the price and being easy to develop for along with all the other reasons listed in your awesome video, in short the PlayStation changed gaming forever.

Pure nostalgia, this is man. No one can ever compare the feelings you get from hearing that PS1 Intro, and remembering your childhood, and the good times. Still glad I still have and play on my PS1, and PS2 till this day. Nothing will ever be like this, how I wish I could go back to the good old days. How time flies honestly. Let alone, next week on the 19th of April, I'll be 20. Still going strong in 2022, as I play these iconic PS1 games.

I preordered my PlayStation at EBgames while they ordered only 4 consoles for day one. I got #2 as marked on the box. I was 16 and it felt magical to switch from SNES to Sony. I remember playing Ridge Racer, Loaded, Twisted Metal, Air Combat, and Tekken for the first time. I still have all my games and the system that still stands as my favorite.

Great research in this video. Back when the PS1 launched in the UK I had no idea Nintendo and Sega had been involved with Sony in creating what came to be the Playstation. I was 11 years old in 1995 and was lucky enough to have parents who bought me a Playstation. After owning an Atari XE, Mega Drive, and Atari Jaguar it was one of the biggest leaps forward I have ever seen in video gaming. The next one was later in the 90s with the Voodoo 3d effects graphics cards on PCs but that's another story!

I know that it has been quite a long time since I uploaded, but rest assured I haven't forgotten about this channel and I am very much working hard to make new content to upload here.
I Have just finished my Smash 4 Complete history which was the biggest project I've ever taken on and I'm super proud of how that came together.
but now that has wrapped up my main attention is back onto PlayStation for Part 2 that will focus on the PS2!
Thank you all for your support and patience, writing, researching and creating these videos on my own takes quite a long time and a lot of work.
so in order to grow the channel while I'm researching and writing the script I may upload some shorter videos focused on different formats to help grow the channel between Complete History videos.
So if you would like to see more content if you could give the video a like👍 , or Subscribe :yt: It really does help to grow the channel!

The Megadrive used the same Yamaha sound chip of many of the late 80s arcade games that they initially ported. I figure they thought it would give more authenticity to their ports. The SNES was pure shock-and-awe when it came to sound.

Good to see you again Mr.Leo thanks so much for continuing to support the channel!
It's pretty hard to get out there on youtube at the moment, there is quite a bit of competition with longfrom gaming content, we've been growing at steady pace hopefully one day we will break 1K subs on here.
But in the meantime it's comments like yours which make all the time and effort that go into these videos worth it, so thanks again for watching and continuing to support the channel and help us grow :)

When I saw for the first time about the partnership between Sony and Nintendo in a magazine with a mockup of the console. As a kid, damn I was so excited 😂 Then I wanted to know more about that console with next monthly magazines.

I think the Mega Drive sounded better, SNES was too soft. The Mega Drive was capable of nice music. It did rock and roll and dance music generally better. Streets of Rage still has one of my favourite soundtracks.

And then Nintendo took one step forward and two steps back by using cartridges again! With 3 consoles! Then SONY made cartridges for the Vita! Which is proof that CD media and Cartridge media can both be used and work well depending on the video game or project.

    • @RESRetro
      @RESRetro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes definitely, I think it's quite amazing how both cartridges and optical media has evolved so much over the generations and both have managed to stay relevant
