    It could be because I grew up in the 90's but even with me enjoying the NES, C64, SNES, MegaDrive, GameBoy and N64, the PlayStation 1 was legendary and left quite an impression with its CD based games.
    I swear, those voice clips in some games like Driver and those cutscenes in games like Tarzan which were stripped straight from the Disney movie hooked me.
    And let's not forget those demo discs! Endless hours of fun for little money.

      @@HistoricNerd Ahhh yeah, a lot of early millennials and late gen xers do mention the Famicom/NES and Sega Master System/Genesis as their beloved consoles they grew up with. I sadly never owned, nor my siblings or my parents ever bought consoles from 3rd and 4th generation consoles, BUT my parents did buy 2nd generation consoles like the Atari 2600 and my dad's old and not working Intellivision, with some of the games and the controllers stored in his box to this very day, even after 45 years that he's owned it since 1981/1982.
      But for me, it'll always be the Playstation 1 and 2 that I love the most than the N64 and Gamecube. And while gamecube and N64 did have good games on it, I feel as if PS1+PS2 had better bootup screens whereas Microsoft and Nintendo weren't even close.

    Why did you say Ken's daughter instead of his son preferred the famicom?

    • @HistoricNerd
      @HistoricNerd  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I found conflicting sources on that one. But based on what I found it leaned more towards him having a daughter over a son. The book revolutionaries at Sony stated he had a son but online sources lean towards a daughter so I wasn't 100% sure but most of the daughter references were newer more up-to-date references.

    I didn't even know there was a playstation 1. I thought they started with 3. This documentary changed my life. These part 13 years of my life have been a lie

      Pretty sure sony only made the PlayStation 1, they won the console war so they decided to call it quits.

  • @maroon9273

    Sony took over the video gaming landscape once the ps1 lead its console generation by a landslide. They took the 4th gen strageties marketing and took it to another level. Sega was never the same and nintendo survived. The other gaming consolencompanies died during the ps1 early lifespand.
    I wish sega postponed the saturn with a new hardware (nvidia or lockheed martin/yuzuki team) or better market strategy or took sgi, trip hawkins (3do or Panasonic M2).

    iam soo happy that amazing Sony never teamed up with nintendo for long to make a console. if Sony had stayed & worked with greedy nintendo then PlayStation never would have existed in the truly amazing way it is today. PlayStation would have had extremely boring weak consoles & kiddie games if they stayed with nintendo. none of these amazing games on PlayStation would never have existed at all... Long Live Sony & PlayStation of Japan! Ken Kutaragi Forever!
    also this is proof that pc gaming will never kill off consoles...EVER!

    The most 90s thing about the 3DO has got to be that name. It was supposed to follow naturally after "audio" and "video" as a term. So delightfully stupid. 😀

    Awesome and well made video. And I say im glad Nintendo was dumb enough to front stab Sony and we got a better console deal. I mean look at PS5 today awesome console and look at Switch that can barely run games at all at least not games like Baldurs gate 3 or Cyberpunk and so on. It´s clear Nintendo given up doing consoles. I just wish they gave up enugh for me to get Zelda and Mario on Steam instead.
