Great tips and ideas. I always wondered if the broom holders were good. Now I know! 😎 I use foam core on wire shelf units and also as cake boards. I cut the size/shape I need and cover it with freezer paper, wax side out, tape on the bottom. Thank you for all you do! 😘💕
Love the locker bins. I use them in my closet to organize gloves, hats, lightbulbs, etc. I also use them to organize my plastic storage food containers and lids. I use them in my pantry too.

The Crafty Organizer Oh, update. Washer and dryer replacements will be arriving tomorrow, so that project will be moving forward once again. I will forward photos as I make progress. The long-awaited bathroom semi-redo is currently in progress as well. Again, keep you posted. And I am under a tree in the backyard finishing my As soon as I get a bit of shade in my secret garden, I will be moving over there to get a few more steps accomplished.
Thank you for introducing to me the versatility of foam core board. I recently used it in my little "parts" drawers. This came with dividers for the little plastic drawers that I managed to lose. The foam core worked great. It is snug and keeps the different items separated in the little drawers. It makes this unit much more useful. I will get brave and try the larger drawers you have on your shelf. You do a great job. Please keep it up. I watch you every day.

I always enclosed a book of stamps when sending my folks' Christmas card (along with other gifts too, of course.) I think they liked the stamps as much, if not more, than the gifts. The Dollar Tree closest to me has the least amount of items. I drive to a few farther away, because they are bigger and have better selections. Have a great day!
I use 4 of those storage bins. I love the sterilite bins and use them both at home and at work. I have the little drawer organizers and again my drawers at home and at work are organized. Have the locker bins under my sinks (thanks to you) and I've used the vacuum bags. All great products that keep some of my home nice and organized. Great minds think alike. 😁
Hi Norrine, I use several of your favorites in my classroom. I have student cubbies that have the Sterlite bins in them, I have the Dollar Store locker bins filled with extra supplies for my classroom aide and I love Command Hooks for holding up rods for charts or my emergency clipboard. I haven't found a use for the foam core board, but give me time and it will become apparent. Thanks for the great videos.

Another word about pre-sorting a jumble of items....I completely agree with having a dozen totes and/or a dozen shoe boxes. If possible get clear plastic and the type that has a built-in clip that holds the lid shut. The boxes will always be useful for other purposes in your home. But also, I love to have zip loc bags in a variety of sizes, from the tiny snack bag to the large gallon bag. The bags serve to prevent tiny items from getting buried in the shuffle or rolling about. Like the boxes, the bags keep the smaller things sorted and grouped. The bags help you decide on the size and shape of the storage units you wish to acquire later as more efficient or decorative storage. Best of all, the bags can be discarded afterward because they are not a huge investment. They are durable enough to serve their purpose until you find your perfect container.
I love love love the locker bins form DT too! I spray painted one silver and it looks cool, almost galvanized. It sits on top of a cabinet in my kitchen. I also have a bunch in my cabinets and my pantry and closets and in my craft room. 😂 I am definitely getting a 3m broom holder thing!
That is awesome! You will love the 3M holder!!! Just clean the surface first, let it dry... and LET IT SIT for a few hours before you use it!!!!! I meant to say that in the video and forgot! If you don't they have a tendency to not stick as well. 💛
Dear Norrine, you brighten my day with your TH-cams...it makes me so happy to see a notification in my email. Your TH-cam “starting with me” was inspiring...I have always loved all the colors in the rainbow, including all skin colors and appreciate all the differences there are in the world...isn’t it ironic that white people are always tanning so they can be browner. I would like to share one of my favorite true stories. One evening I was leaving work (at the University of Texas) and a young black man in a hoodie was heading toward me. I am sorry to say that me brain said “uh oh” until I saw that it was one of my favorite students...what a lesson that was for me. One of the best qualities that a human can have is empathy...if we could all practice empathy, the world would be an amazing place. And I do enjoy a good trip to the Dollar Tree...if you think about it, it is like a wonderful 5 and 10 cent store. Anyway, keep up the good work both in organizing and diy crafting and social awareness. I have rattled along enough...just remember you have a friend in me.
I use those locker bins too, I put pretty shelf liner on the front and have them lined up on my shelves in my craft room. They hold so much. I love your videos and your uplifting messages!
Great video again Norrine. I was struck by your caring enough to tell us where NOT to buy the Sterlite shoeboxes. If you read lots of reviews for those bulk sold Sterlite and Iris boxes by Amazon many buyers complain of them arriving cracked and broken. Many Amazon sellers buy odd lots at merchants including from Amazon and resell them yet the name Sterlite or Iris may well appear up at the top of the listing as though the manufacturer is selling them through Amazon. If one looks lower down closer to the buy button one sees the name of the individual or mom/pop who is really selling the goods. I’ve learned to click the actual seller whether their name appears up at top or down below. Before I buy from them I take a look to see what they are in the business of selling. If (in this case) they are in the business of selling plastic containers and they’ve sold lots of plastic containers whereby they have a 97% or better rating then I will consider buying from them. But many individual or mom/pop sellers sell dozens or hundred of different completely random products from car parts to purses. Yet they are not really a merchant nor a manufacturer. They are buying 2nds, returns or overruns discounted from who knows where? That is the merchant I would NOT buy a bulk order of fragile plastic shoeboxes. A friend of mine taught me that she uses Amazon to sell items she bought retail but didn’t like just like people do on Ebay. Call me daft but I always figured, except for used books, Amazon sellers were real stores, or actual manufacturers. Not so at all!Sorry for my silly course change! I really wanted you to know we appreciate you steering us to the best merchant for those organization items. Also for letting us know the dollar store white org trays with gray bottoms are almost as good as Rubbermaid’s. Do the locker bins come in different sizes? I’m pleased they are available in white! I’ve decided I can tone down the noise in my craft room by converting all my different colors of bins to white only. What a deeply thoughtful gift the roll of stamps was from one of your fans! When I saw that bunch of stamped envelopes in your hands I thought, “Oh Norrine! Be careful dear girl. I seldom order from others, unless its a brand distributor. For those amazing locker bins from the dollar tree; yes. They come in a rectangle or more of a square. They also have a few different sizes with similar boxes that are textured. So many great storage options at the Dollar Tree!!! The $.99 is starting to carry more storage bins now too!!! The "God shot" of stamps was perfect! I was almost out of stamps - and more were not in my budget! It was a perfect gift. 💛

I got some unemployment after months of trying but my job is part time so it's practically nil and no one is hiring someone with cane. ( I have severe arthritis and still taking cancer meds). I have daughter and when you have kids (as you know) it is a great motivator and inspiration to stay positive and keep trying. There is always someone who has a much worse situation. When I was cleaning & organizing the other day I remembered you showing using the foam bord for shelving, so I had a piece I used to put behind my Barbies when I took their photo & decided to use it as it was getting bent corners. Anyways I made a small shelf for the tiny cupboard on my desk that I have my tape, glue, tape measure,etc in. Thank you again for the great videos you do.
3:50 Those type of containers from Dollar Tree also don’t stay closed. I’ve temporarily resorted to placing a large rubber band around them to hold them closed, but I won’t be buying anymore from there. The ones from Walmart have lids that snap closed so they look much nicer.

I do check out our other dollar stores and have had some success finding what I need. As I'm working on organizing my craft room you have helped me make decisions on storage. The dollar tree vacuum bags in all sizes is standard in my home. I use it for loads of things. I use the foam core to make a personal Kanban chart for all my home projects. The regular command hooks are also standard in my home as I keep finding a use for them while reorganizing. Thanks for the tips!

Just made intro shelves for a metal garage cabinet out of foam core boards thanks to YOU’s and Shari (posh paper lady you tube videos!) I was at a loss for how to make my upper cabinets in the craft room work, and your 25 lb test on your $5 organizer solved the problem. NOE to Mack it pretty...picked up the black and white willow China plate contact paper from the dollar tree today! So excited!

Am in uk so all these items apart from ikea i cant get but i still get so much inspiration from your ideas and recommendations. We have a Poundland here in uk but most of there stuff is tat lol not really a craft section to shout about . Just plain cards few stickers buttons etc.poundland have never sold foam board but when i was on holiday ,last year in furteventura (canary islands) there was a little nick nack shop and i got some packs in there for just a few euros. I got some acrylic paints glues etc i could of spent all my spends in there in one go lol. Stay safe xx
Yeah, thats one of the things about dollar tree...they have some of the same brands as Walmart etc for storage containers, but they are generally a stripped down version: thinner and flimsier plastic.
Foam core! I’m going to make a pull out box for my kitchen cabinet under our peninsula! I can’t find anything that will work and is inexpensive. It’s 28” deep so stuff gets pushed back and gets lost in the black hole! Thanks for helping me brain storm my storage needs. I’m renting so I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on metal pull out units that have to be screwed down in the cabinet. I can’t wait to get to the dollar tree for foam core!
I made a custom drawer to fit under a chair so I could have shoe storage like that! It’s held up about three years now!!!! And I use it thinking multiple times a day :) Let me know how yours turn out :-)
Great products & tips. The trouble with Poundland is that not everything is £1.00 anymore. Also, you have to be really careful with the make, as some of the items can be total rubbish. I wish we had The Dollar Tree etc in the UK.
Speaking of vacuum bags. Many of us have vacuum cleaners that need a particular size of paper bag that can be pricey to replace as often as needed. I use snack chip clips, long plastic clips with a spring that holds them shut. Typically, the bottom of a bag is folded over a few times and held in place with glue. Before use, I very gently unfold just the bottom of the bag. If I do make a tear, I seal it with sturdy tape. Duct tape is good. Then I fold it back up and seal the fold shut with a clip. When the bag fills up with dirt, I can empty it into a trash can by simply removing my chip clip. Fold the bottom back up, apply the clip, and put it back in your vacuum. I can reuse the same bag a great many times before it finally wears out. The clip has to be large enough to seal the bag and small enough to fit inside the vacuum chamber. The bag needs to inflate during vacuuming for good suction so the clip cannot be so big that it overcrowds the bag.
love those bins I have them in Blue and Green for pantry and craft room. What I do not like is they are hard to find in the size like you have and I have ever time I find them now they are square or smaller than those. So when I see those larger ones I buy them whether I need them or not LOL

I love watching your videos 😍 I try so hard to be organized that I'm disorganized😢 I've been trying so hard to get my house put together so it's easier for me to do anything I was diagnosed with crippling rheumatoid arthritis and I'm only 40 so it's been hard to try to learn new ways to do everything and to make things accessible so I don't drop them but enough about that I just wanted to let you know that if people don't have a dollar tree they also have the foam board at Walmart in black and white I'm not sure about the size but it's only .88¢ and Thank you again for doing your videos you are amazing stay safe and keep up the good work and if you are ever in Michigan you can come to my house LOL
I wanted to share how I use the Dollar Tree foam board. I absolutely love the peel and stick wall decals (also from Dollar Tree) but my house has old textured plaster walls. So I found out that if I stick them to the foam board and cut about a 1/4 inch wider they have a cute little border. Then I'm able to hang them by using thumb tacks.

I am so glad you mentioned how the DT shoe boxes lids collapse and recently I have found that the lids don't even fit/snap on properly. SMH! Another use for locker bins: I have two that I turn upsidedown to hold my keyboard and mouse pad for a makeshift standing desk. A standing desk for $2? You can't beat that price! 😂

I loved your previous video, including how to keep your 12x12 scrapbook paper organized vertically. If you ever find a container that can do than and be covered, please let me know. I need something to protect the paper from dust and furry “helpers”.
The scrapbook organization “Fab Files”from Tiffany Spaulding are closable and come in several sizes, including one big enough for 12x12 paper. I like them.
Portia Read, thanks! I checked out Tiffany’s website. Apparently, they don’t sell those anymore. Also it’s really not deep enough-unless I would buy 10 of them and put those into a container. But, you’re right, they look awesome. I’m currently using a rolling cart that has shelves but have to unzip the cover and expand the stacking shelves every time I use it, which is part of the reason I don’t use it.
Noreen, I SO look forward to your videos! You feel like my special friend, and I love it! If I may give a tip and make a request, please? The tip is regarding the foam core boards from Dollar Tree. Although I AM a very senior citizen, I teach a craft class three times a week to seniors in an independent living apartment. I have found that these foam core boards take craft paint a million times better that the Wal-Mart ones because there are no grid marks that you struggle to cover up. I use them in many cases where you might use wood because they are lightweight, easy to cut and very strong. We have used them for many different kinds of projects and are always pleased with the results. Which brings me to my question. Could you please consider doing a video on the things you have made with them? I want to create better organization here at home (and are you ever helping me!!!) but budget is crucial as well as weight if I have to move things. Thank you so VERY much for your sweet spirit and for sharing with us the wealth of experience you have . God's blessings to you!!

I've used foam core and batting to make portable design boards for quilting pieces and blocks. They are 12 to 18 dollars on quilt shop sites.

Another word about pre-sorting a jumble of items....I completely agree with having a dozen totes and/or a dozen shoe boxes. If possible get clear plastic and the type that has a built-in clip that holds the lid shut. The boxes will always be useful for other purposes in your home. But also, I love to have zip loc bags in a variety of sizes, from the tiny snack bag to the large gallon bag. The bags serve to prevent tiny items from getting buried in the shuffle or rolling about. Like the boxes, the bags keep the smaller things sorted and grouped. The bags help you decide on the size and shape of the storage units you wish to acquire later as more efficient or decorative storage. Best of all, the bags can be discarded afterward because they are not a huge investment. They are durable enough to serve their purpose until you find your perfect container.
I love love love the locker bins form DT too! I spray painted one silver and it looks cool, almost galvanized. It sits on top of a cabinet in my kitchen. I also have a bunch in my cabinets and my pantry and closets and in my craft room. 😂 I am definitely getting a 3m broom holder thing!
That is awesome! You will love the 3M holder!!! Just clean the surface first, let it dry... and LET IT SIT for a few hours before you use it!!!!! I meant to say that in the video and forgot! If you don't they have a tendency to not stick as well. 💛

Dear Norrine, you brighten my day with your TH-cams...it makes me so happy to see a notification in my email. Your TH-cam “starting with me” was inspiring...I have always loved all the colors in the rainbow, including all skin colors and appreciate all the differences there are in the world...isn’t it ironic that white people are always tanning so they can be browner. I would like to share one of my favorite true stories. One evening I was leaving work (at the University of Texas) and a young black man in a hoodie was heading toward me. I am sorry to say that me brain said “uh oh” until I saw that it was one of my favorite students...what a lesson that was for me. One of the best qualities that a human can have is empathy...if we could all practice empathy, the world would be an amazing place.
And I do enjoy a good trip to the Dollar Tree...if you think about it, it is like a wonderful 5 and 10 cent store. Anyway, keep up the good work both in organizing and diy crafting and social awareness. I have rattled along enough...just remember you have a friend in me.

Great video again Norrine. I was struck by your caring enough to tell us where NOT to buy the Sterlite shoeboxes. If you read lots of reviews for those bulk sold Sterlite and Iris boxes by Amazon many buyers complain of them arriving cracked and broken. Many Amazon sellers buy odd lots at merchants including from Amazon and resell them yet the name Sterlite or Iris may well appear up at the top of the listing as though the manufacturer is selling them through Amazon. If one looks lower down closer to the buy button one sees the name of the individual or mom/pop who is really selling the goods. I’ve learned to click the actual seller whether their name appears up at top or down below. Before I buy from them I take a look to see what they are in the business of selling. If (in this case) they are in the business of selling plastic containers and they’ve sold lots of plastic containers whereby they have a 97% or better rating then I will consider buying from
them. But many individual or mom/pop sellers sell dozens or hundred of different completely random products from car parts to purses. Yet they are not really a merchant nor a manufacturer. They are buying 2nds, returns or overruns discounted from who knows where? That is the merchant I would NOT buy a bulk order of fragile plastic shoeboxes. A friend of mine taught me that she uses Amazon to sell items she bought retail but didn’t like just like people do on Ebay. Call me daft but I always figured, except for used books, Amazon sellers were real stores, or actual manufacturers. Not so at all!Sorry for my silly course change! I really wanted you to know we appreciate you steering us to the best merchant for those organization items. Also for letting us know the dollar store white org trays with gray bottoms are almost as good as Rubbermaid’s.
Do the locker bins come in different sizes? I’m pleased they are available in white! I’ve decided I can tone down the noise in my craft room by converting all my different colors of bins to white only. What a deeply thoughtful gift the roll of stamps was from one of your fans! When I saw that bunch of stamped envelopes in your hands I thought, “Oh Norrine! Be careful dear girl. I seldom order from others, unless its a brand distributor. For those amazing locker bins from the dollar tree; yes. They come in a rectangle or more of a square. They also have a few different sizes with similar boxes that are textured. So many great storage options at the Dollar Tree!!! The $.99 is starting to carry more storage bins now too!!! The "God shot" of stamps was perfect! I was almost out of stamps - and more were not in my budget! It was a perfect gift. 💛

I got some unemployment after months of trying but my job is part time so it's practically nil and no one is hiring someone with cane. ( I have severe arthritis and still taking cancer meds). When I was cleaning & organizing the other day I remembered you showing using the foam bord for shelving, so I had a piece I used to put behind my Barbies when I took their photo & decided to use it as it was getting bent corners. Anyways I made a small shelf for the tiny cupboard on my desk that I have my tape, glue, tape measure,etc

3:50 Those type of containers from Dollar Tree also don’t stay closed. I’ve temporarily resorted to placing a large rubber band around them to hold them closed, but I won’t be buying anymore from there. The ones from Walmart have lids that snap closed so they look much nicer.

Hi Norrine! Welcome back! Love this video and all the storage solutions! Unfortunately the Dollar Tree in Canada is not the same as yours as mine does not carry everything yours does. I do check out our other dollar stores and have had some success finding what I need. As I'm working on organizing my craft room you have helped me make decisions on storage. The dollar tree vacuum bags in all sizes is standard in my home. I use it for loads of things. I use the foam core to make a personal Kanban chart for all my home projects. The regular command hooks are also standard in my home as I keep finding a use for them while reorganizing. Thanks for the tips!

Just made intro shelves for a metal garage cabinet out of foam core boards thanks to YOU’s and Shari (posh paper lady you tube videos!) I was at a loss for how to make my upper cabinets in the craft room work, and your 25 lb test on your $5 organizer solved the problem. NOE to Mack it pretty...picked up the black and white willow China plate contact paper from the dollar tree today! So excited!

Am in uk so all these items apart from ikea i cant get but i still get so much inspiration from your ideas and recommendations. We have a Poundland here in uk but most of there stuff is tat lol not really a craft section to shout about . Just plain cards few stickers buttons etc.poundland have never sold foam board but when i was on holiday ,last year in furteventura (canary islands) there was a little nick nack shop and i got some packs in there for just a few euros. I got some acrylic paints glues etc i could of spent all my spends in there in one go lol. Stay safe xx

Yeah, thats one of the things about dollar tree...they have some of the same brands as Walmart etc for storage containers, but they are generally a stripped down version: thinner and flimsier plastic.
Foam core! I’m going to make a pull out box for my kitchen cabinet under our peninsula! I can’t find anything that will work and is inexpensive. It’s 28” deep so stuff gets pushed back and gets lost in the black hole! Thanks for helping me brain storm my storage needs. I’m renting so I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on metal pull out units that have to be screwed down in the cabinet. I can’t wait to get to the dollar tree for foam core!
I made a custom drawer to fit under a chair so I could have shoe storage like that! It’s held up about three years now!!!! And I use it thinking multiple times a day :) Let me know how yours turn out :-)

The trouble with Poundland is that not everything is £1.00 anymore. Also, you have to be really careful with the make, as some of the items can be total rubbish. I wish we had The Dollar Tree etc in the UK.
Our $.99 cent store is like that. The title says the price! Yet, items are as high at $19.00 And, yes. You have to really watch the quality.

Speaking of vacuum bags. Many of us have vacuum cleaners that need a particular size of paper bag that can be pricey to replace as often as needed. I use snack chip clips, long plastic clips with a spring that holds them shut. Typically, the bottom of a bag is folded over a few times and held in place with glue. Before use, I very gently unfold just the bottom of the bag. If I do make a tear, I seal it with sturdy tape. Duct tape is good. Then I fold it back up and seal the fold shut with a clip. When the bag fills up with dirt, I can empty it into a trash can by simply removing my chip clip. Fold the bottom back up, apply the clip, and put it back in your vacuum. I can reuse the same bag a great many times before it finally wears out. The clip has to be large enough to seal the bag and small enough to fit inside the vacuum chamber. The bag needs to inflate during vacuuming for good suction so the clip cannot be so big that it overcrowds the bag.

love those bins I have them in Blue and Green for pantry and craft room. What I do not like is they are hard to find in the size like you have and I have ever time I find them now they are square or smaller than those. So when I see those larger ones I buy them whether I need them or not LOL

I love watching your videos 😍 I try so hard to be organized that I'm disorganized😢 I've been trying so hard to get my house put together so it's easier for me to do anything I was diagnosed with crippling rheumatoid arthritis and I'm only 40 so it's been hard to try to learn new ways to do everything and to make things accessible so I don't drop them but enough about that I just wanted to let you know that if people don't have a dollar tree they also have the foam board at Walmart in black and white I'm not sure about the size but it's only .88¢ and Thank you again for doing your videos you are amazing stay safe and keep up the good work and if you are ever in Michigan you can come to my house LOL

I wanted to share how I use the Dollar Tree foam board. I absolutely love the peel and stick wall decals (also from Dollar Tree) but my house has old textured plaster walls. So I found out that if I stick them to the foam board and cut about a 1/4 inch wider they have a cute little border. Then I'm able to hang them by using thumb tacks.

I am so glad you mentioned how the DT shoe boxes lids collapse and recently I have found that the lids don't even fit/snap on properly. SMH! Another use for locker bins: I have two that I turn upsidedown to hold my keyboard and mouse pad for a makeshift standing desk. A standing desk for $2? You can't beat that price! 😂

The scrapbook organization “Fab Files”from Tiffany Spaulding are closable and come in several sizes, including one big enough for 12x12 paper. I like them.

I’m currently using a rolling cart that has shelves but have to unzip the cover and expand the stacking shelves every time I use it, which is part of the reason I don’t use it.

Noreen, I SO look forward to your videos! You feel like my special friend, and I love it! If I may give a tip and make a request, please? The tip is regarding the foam core boards from Dollar Tree. Although I AM a very senior citizen, I teach a craft class three times a week to seniors in an independent living apartment. I have found that these foam core boards take craft paint a million times better that the Wal-Mart ones because there are no grid marks that you struggle to cover up. I use them in many cases where you might use wood because they are lightweight, easy to cut and very strong. We have used them for many different kinds of projects and are always pleased with the results. Which brings me to my question. Could you please consider doing a video on the things you have made with them? I want to create better organization here at home (and are you ever helping me!!!) but budget is crucial as well as weight if I have to move things. Thank you so VERY much for your sweet spirit and for sharing with us the wealth of experience you have . God's blessings to you!!

I bought some Rubbermaid brand bowls at the Dollar Tree. They were absolute garbage. They stained and one has already broken.
Yeah... some of the products are hit or miss... but the little storage boxes are the best.
