Brilliant fishing. Glad your government placed a 200 mile limit around your coastline in the 1980's. The rest of the world would have devastated the fishing grounds.

      Thank the heavens for that.
I can walk with a cup of coffee for 1 minute and catch cod from land.
But a couple of fillets in the fridge covered in salt for a few days. Then rinse, fry in butter and serve with mushy peas, potatoes and bacon.
The sauce for cod is baconfat and pan drippings. Or a white sauce made from baconfat and pan drippings. Parsley.

It's a lot harder than it used to be. I do feel you are lucky to catch anything from a beach these days.

What this "guys" are doing is totally illegal in Norway. Why? #1: The law say all catch have to be landed and registrated. #2. This fish is going to die because of the damage of the swimblather. It is broken because of too speed change in preasure and it leads to internal bleeding and death.

Not true, it's at 30-60m and they will be fine as long as you don't reel them up too fast.

I would NEVER release a fish. I eat everything I catch. Period. If I catch the very last one on Earth, good for me!

Where I live we fish King Salmon (Central/Norcal), Yellowfin and Bluefin Tuna (Southern California), Albacore, as well as Rockfish and other species, but the one species of fish I have always wanted to fish is Atlantic (and/or Pacific) Cod. It's just such a great mild-tasting fish, great for deep frying (similar to how Rockfish is in our area).
Do not get me wrong, I absolute love love love love Salmon and Tuna (amazing tasting fish with great fat content) as well as Rockfish, but there is just something about Cod. It's probably just because I do not have access to it's fishery other than purchasing it in restaurants and stores, but I digress. Nice thick, chunky fillets great for the fryer.
