@@TheFloatLife will you guys potentially post a update on here tomorrow? Just wanting to purchase before the bundle sale is over, but also like your guys opinions first before I buy
Sweet! Please do an update video once the app update rolls out in a couple weeks! It would be great to see a group ride comparing the pint s, updated pint x, and an un-updated pint x (and maybe even a pint v). I’ve been dodging my pint x update ever since haptic buzz released, but I would totally update if I got an extra 2 mph of headroom before buzz and pushback kick in at 18 mph instead of around 16 mph. I don’t need to go 20 mph (or even 18), I just don’t want hit buzz/pushback when I’m cruising at 15/16
So they added some field weakening? I might have been stoked if they had bumped the voltage up to 75v, but as it sits my rewheeled pint does all of this all while not having haptic buzz.
@@OctoFloatRepair It has to be field weakening because they checked the charger and its the same V as the pintx. The only other way to increase the speed would be a different motor Kv. It makes sense that they would increase FW as they are supporting higher top speeds.
Push back on the pint has always kicked in at 2 miles below the rated top speed so it’s no different than how the other pints. Push back on the pintX starts at 16 even though the top speed says 18.
@@TheFloatLife yeah same here highest I've ever gotten on my pint x is about 17.5 mph. it NEVER lets me hit 18 without severe pushback/haptic buzz. personally, even if it never actually hits 20 mph, the extra headroom will be a welcome update.
My pint x pushes back at 16 as well. Since the haptic buzz, i've been a bit scared to push past, got it to 21 a few years ago and my brother hit 24 on his pint. Would be nice if they moved pushback to their boards rated speed. Also super excited for the update in a few weeks.

Correct, there won't be much to compare. Firmware will be identical, and you can replicate a Pint S by just modding a Pint X once the update comes out. Even in the app, where the board model is named, it says Pint X/S

I do like the size of the pint. There are better boards out there, though future motion do make good boards out of the box. Everyone wants something different. I'm more of a trick guy but also like to go fast. Hard to have one board that does both of those well.
We need an update on this board with the updated app installed. The updated top speed is the main reason I purchased this board and I already own a XR, Pint, GT, and GTS (with rally rails installed). If the top cruising speed is not 20 mph I'm sending it back.
The app update isn't gonna change the firmware on the board, just allow you to enable Custom Shaping, so how you see it here is how it is at least for now. Pint X pushback I believe kicked in at 16mph before (advertised top speed 18mph), so this is still a 2mph bump like they claim. @Sigeo1vl For sure, and Pint is way more fun at those lower speeds than a GT anyways with the more nimble tire! I've got a VESC setup with a Pint tire that can go beyond 20mph with no pushback, but I still keep it below 20mph personally just because I feel no need to go faster on it. Just as fun keeping the speed back and carving around finding lines

@@TheFloatLife Curious to see what's inside the beast and have a look at the battery enclosure design. Is the "pinched wires" problem fixed ? we'll see. Can't wait for the dissembly video ! :)
@zalla135 it's going to be roughly 18mph where you are cruising fastest without pushback. Would be nice to lift that a little but it's night and day better than pint x current pushback feel and speed.
@@TheFloatLifegreat video, very entertaining. Does the pint S have the stance profile (i mean custom angle the nose beyond just elevated mode). Wondering if you can set the nose all the way down and then ride pushback, or does pushback just overpower it anyway
@@TheFloatLife Yes. A rail that can covert the Pint X/S like an XR for those who cannot get a used XR. I'm from SEA and no one is selling an XR here, I can only see OG pints and Xs in the marketplace where I'm from.
I"m still not exactly sure what firmware update the Pint X will get. Will it get custom shaping and a boosted 20mph limit or stay at 18? (Which is really like 16ish for me)
It will be the same as the S; all the same features will be there. Pint X will get the new advertised max speed of 20 mph, with pushback starting at 18 mph. Before it was 18 and 16, respectively. I don't think they can safely go any higher with the current hardware.
No, there is an editors note in the beginning of the video. The app said it was updated but it wasn't. We had to delete the app and then reinstall it and we got custom shaping. The firmware however was the most recent
For a safe ride, at that weight you're gonna want a more powerful board for sure. Pint S would be usable, but you'd have to be pretty careful about feathering it at times, and I'd imagine the smaller platform wouldn't be the most comfortable for someone like you.
The only hardware difference between the X and the S are the footpads and tire so no effect to speed. The software is what gives it "increased speed" and that software is coming to the X in a couple weeks.
@thefloatlife I saw a reply from FM on the pint s launch video comments saying the firmware would come to the x in two weeks. Do you guys have inside knowledge that it’s 3 to 4? Also I have an x and agree with everyone here that the push back is 2mph before advertised top speed which I think is super lame. Think Bodhi can pull some strings over there? 😂
They've replied to multiple comments giving varied responses. Some say 2 weeks, some say 3-4, some say by the end of the month. So pretty unclear haha. The hardware is identical, so I'm honestly not sure of any reason they couldn't release the firmware immediately outside of either wanting to give Pint S early exclusive access, or possibly using early Pint S owners as "beta testers" almost and seeing if theres any feedback to make some final adjustments before release. But hopefully the update releases sooner than later.
@@nicoaleman I agree on not understanding why they can’t release at the same time as launch but your thoughts as to why make sense. I find my biggest gripe with FM is that they tend to be a bit vague at times when they know their customer base is going to want concrete info and hard dates to be excited about.
I just got my pint s in the mail, after you guys updated the app, was is digital shaping 2.0 or 3.0? Mine is showing the 5200 firmware, but digital shaping 2.0 with a custom shaping section and it still says 18mph? Is there something I am doing wrong?
Yea it’s crazy no higher voltage. But to be fair, I put those footpads on my nephew’s pint and they’re a game changer. Pint to me was a joke platform until I put those footpads on. But yea can upgrade a Pint X to equal the S with new footpads and tire.
@@kriskainalu7202 yea but then you have a spare tire and pads. They save some extra cash by not producing those in the S and you lose out because with an X and upgraded tire + pads you get your old parts as spares
I’ve been wanting one of these for so long but I’m so afraid of the damn thing just cutting out on me in the middle of a ride lol. The fangs front end might make me feel a little bit better…🤷

So the firmware is current. It's just the app that needed an update. So we now unlocked the custom shaping, but everything else is the same. More videos after the weekend!
No. There's a reason people make unboxing videos, and this is far beyond that. Plus, the software changes aren't going to change that much. Also, it's a first impressions video, not a full review. The entire point is to be quick out of the gate!
The board's firmware is up to date and how buyers should expect it to ride, the only difference with the new app update is having access to custom shaping.
No new firmware, just an app update to access Custom Shaping. Available on both Android and iOS 👍 The firmware update for Pint X won't be available for a few weeks
Board Firmware is actually up to date and what buyers should expect, it was just the app that wasn't updated, meaning the only thing missing was Custom Shaping.
@@brianflad9627 It's the board's firmware that determines that, not the app, so no. All their boards besides GT and GTS have pushback before the advertised top speed. Pint X was advertised 18mph with pushback at 16mph. Pint is advertised 16mph with pushback at 14mph.
With how you have to deweight the board, having the sensor in the back would more often than not cause the board to disengage mid-nudge. The main issue is just the squared off shape of the Pint X Bumpers
Never understood why people like these so much. It's literally brand new and is out sped by unicycles that are generations out of date. How is this starting at 2900?
This is the Pint S, it's $1400 but is really a kitted out Pint X, which starts at $1100. Still of course outperformed by EUC's in the same price category, but the ride experiences are apples to oranges. Anyone getting a Onewheel isn't getting it purely for the specs/performance.
@@nicoaleman oh I see it's the gt-s that's 2900. Honestly I was never good at skateboarding and EUC feels like skateboarding to me. I get why people like the form factor I just think it'd be cooler to see one of these doing like 40mph. Irks me because I recently bought an e20 to teach the kids to ride.. $400. Goes the same speed.
@Killpocalips Yeah, would be awesome to see more competition in the space to bring more innovation and bring prices down, that's the main thing that sets the Onewheel market apart from the EUC market. Unfortunately not really possible with the patents they have.
@Killpocalips I'm not saying it's a great thing haha, just the fact is that Onewheel provides a ride experience that other PEV's just can't provide. Many of us have turned to making DIY boards as a result of the current state of the market
all that to “save 50 bucks” hahahahahah jesus… talk about penny pinching. jesus lol. just ordering those things alone is inconvenient. let alone installing the tire and waiting for the update . 😂 jesussssss
Main benefit there would be getting to pick out the specific accessories you want. For example, I'd personally rather go with a nice slick tire like the Street Pro 2, and a tail with a bit less kick like Kush Nug Lo or Hi. For existing Pint X owners, or those who want to save by starting with a used Pint X, manually upgrading makes more sense IMO. But for those who want a solid comfortable and kitted new board out of the box, Pint S is a solid choice for sure

I need a Pint S vs Pint V comparison. Just installed the pint v kit and its a game changer, I easily hit 20-22mph on Pint -V but could def get 25mph downhill! Also did they fix the wire pinched in the battery box?! Lol
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the wire pinch issue got fixed a while ago.
XV is phenomenal, especially with the soft flare up front and kush nug in the rear
@TheFloatLife hell yeah I had bought a slightly used one with less than 100miles recently and it was already pinched so had to fix that so wondered
@@TheFloatLife Curious to see what's inside the beast and have a look at the battery enclosure design.
Is the "pinched wires" problem fixed ? we'll see.
Can't wait for the dissembly video ! :)
That’s crazy Ive gone 25mph on my OG pint
My top was 24 on og pint, but full captan Morgan down a hill for a split second 😂
@@tommyaccongio654 🤣
So once you updated the app can you cruise at 20 mph?
I don't believe so. The app doesn't affect firmware except for being able to select different shaping
@@TheFloatLife gotcha thanks. I guess I’ll wait the few weeks until the firmware update to decide
So the OG pint is getting custom shaping as well???? 😮 if so I’m buying a used pint TODAY!! 😮😮
Nah, just Pint X
@@TheFloatLife noooooo!!! 😞😞😞 so I’d have to rewheel it?
“Julian why is your office so dark and weird” Lmaoo
It’s sweet. But it’s still 1,500$ I’ve put a crystal battery in my pint. 16 mile range. Slick tire though 😮
They should have made a new longer rail with flared sides to make the body wider for the Pint s and also make a new wider foot pads.
So basically an XR?
@@TheFloatLife Yes. A rail that can covert the Pint X/S like an XR for those who cannot get a used XR. I'm from SEA and no one is selling an XR here, I can only see OG pints and Xs in the marketplace where I'm from.
Also, Pint S freespins at 38. Pint X-V free spins at 41. ;)
🤯
Yo can we please get PINT X/S BANG bumpers?? 🙏🙏🙏
With a XR style grip 🥵😭😭😭 pleaseeeee!!
Why is this a pint s and not a pint x rally edition?
I"m still not exactly sure what firmware update the Pint X will get. Will it get custom shaping and a boosted 20mph limit or stay at 18? (Which is really like 16ish for me)
They said they're giving us a performance boost, I'm really curious to see what it actually entails
It will be the same as the S; all the same features will be there. Pint X will get the new advertised max speed of 20 mph, with pushback starting at 18 mph. Before it was 18 and 16, respectively.
I don't think they can safely go any higher with the current hardware.
"its looking awfully homeless down there"
I'm adding this to my vocabulary
The proper term is "unhoused"
About that freewheel speed, does it take into consideration the tire size? (I always thought it went by GPS)
It does not go by GPS. It's based on tire rotation
12:10 Was that a cybertruck in the background??
How does it compare to an XR?
It doesn't. An xr has higher top speed and less pushback
Would you recommend this as a first time board for someone wanting to try?
Absolutely! It's a great board for that type of person.
Last time I checked my freewheel on my rewheeled pint x it was like 29 this is nuts to hit 38, im curious if they fixed the pushback aggressiveness
It feels better
didnt even know they had a new one out. kinda feels like FM is skimping on the marketing
So am I correct in saying that currently the S model does not have the increased speed or customing shaping?(to be released in a few weeks)
No, there is an editors note in the beginning of the video. The app said it was updated but it wasn't. We had to delete the app and then reinstall it and we got custom shaping. The firmware however was the most recent
whats the fastest it can go to nosedive? can someone test it out?
Last thing I want to do is try to ride out a nose dive on Pint bumpers
Please make floatwheel parts
Will the Pint X get the firmware update?
My non updated(no haptic) Pint X freewheels at 30.
Would a Pint S be a good fit for a 6’4 235? Or should I spend the extra and get the GT?
Spend less and get the FW
For a safe ride, at that weight you're gonna want a more powerful board for sure. Pint S would be usable, but you'd have to be pretty careful about feathering it at times, and I'd imagine the smaller platform wouldn't be the most comfortable for someone like you.
@@nicoaleman Especially the stance width and board width. At 6'4", I suspect that will feel rather cramped.
I would get atleast a GT. a Pint S would be ride able but you are really at that limit. I think GT would be prefect.
Does the pint x get the increase in speed that the x does because all the upgrades to the hardware are coming to the x
The only hardware difference between the X and the S are the footpads and tire so no effect to speed. The software is what gives it "increased speed" and that software is coming to the X in a couple weeks.
Please make a video riding single track with it.
No, I think that's correct. The digital shaping seems to be more XR style than GT style
@@TheFloatLife thank you so much also just got done riding my pint s and was able to hit 20 reliably the difference was crazy!
what's better pint s or floatwheel
Those are very different boards
Floatwheel all day but it costs a bit more
Feels a little off-putting that this is just a Pint X with accessories and a software update for $300.
Yea it’s crazy no higher voltage. But to be fair, I put those footpads on my nephew’s pint and they’re a game changer. Pint to me was a joke platform until I put those footpads on.
But yea can upgrade a Pint X to equal the S with new footpads and tire.
Especially rocking the OG pint bumpers. But that's FM for you.
Well the tire is about 100 and flared footpads are about 200.
@@kriskainalu7202 yea but then you have a spare tire and pads. They save some extra cash by not producing those in the S and you lose out because with an X and upgraded tire + pads you get your old parts as spares
@@kriskainalu7202 Hard compound footpads though. If you want soft then it's an L
I’ve been wanting one of these for so long but I’m so afraid of the damn thing just cutting out on me in the middle of a ride lol. The fangs front end might make me feel a little bit better…🤷
On a board cutout those things won't work at all. In many situations they make things worse
Fangs are unhelpful. It's far better to just learn nose drags.
Fangs do literally nothing. You must learn to ride them and first step us jumping off, once you're comfortable getting off fast everything else follows
So wait, the pint s was still in pint x software during this testing?
No, the board firmware is up to date, that part was a misunderstanding. It was just the app that wasn't updated, meaning no access to custom shaping.
@@nicoaleman Ah I see. I was really hoping for gt style pushback/speed capabilities> Very unfortunate
Lil ripper🤙🏼😊🤙🏼
Pint X push back at 16 and buzz at 17 ...
can I travel with pint S on a airplane?
its because i´m from Latin America and the board its "cheap" in USA than here...
Legally? Nah
Imagine my surprise, morning coffee, and you lot~!~Nice. Jeff, you big faker, Lijh, hitting some height there, Ryan, come on mang, you had that, Lil' Bro, did you not drink yer water???? thanks fam, nice way to start the day. (now get the firmware and settings right and come back soon, ya hear???)aoxo
Vesc > anything future motion
you guys need to update the firmware and then redo the video lol
So the firmware is current. It's just the app that needed an update. So we now unlocked the custom shaping, but everything else is the same. More videos after the weekend!
@@TheFloatLife oh gotcha gotcha.
TFL Fo life .................................... CHILLEST Fo Life...................................VRAAAAAAAAAP
I mean. I would've just waited and redid the video once you realized you didn't have the update. Kinda makes this video a little redundant right?
I think if you have Ihpone you are able to get new firmware but android can not
No new firmware, just an app update to access Custom Shaping. Available on both Android and iOS 👍 The firmware update for Pint X won't be available for a few weeks
Kind of a goofy review without the right App Version\Settings guys.
Why? Without changing firmware, the basic hardware characteristics will remain unchanged.
Board Firmware is actually up to date and what buyers should expect, it was just the app that wasn't updated, meaning the only thing missing was Custom Shaping.
@@nicoaleman Did pushback increase after fixing the app? If not 20 mph claim seems suspect.
@@brianflad9627 It's the board's firmware that determines that, not the app, so no. All their boards besides GT and GTS have pushback before the advertised top speed. Pint X was advertised 18mph with pushback at 16mph. Pint is advertised 16mph with pushback at 14mph.
This is the first time I see Jeff fail a curb nudge. Try the other way. The heavier side as the front side.
With how you have to deweight the board, having the sensor in the back would more often than not cause the board to disengage mid-nudge. The main issue is just the squared off shape of the Pint X Bumpers
Let’s see if the battery box wires got insulated more… Pint X battery boxes are known for chafing wires.
They luckily resolved that issue a good while back, hasn't been an issue for Pint X for a while now AFAIK
It's like iting a brick wall. Bro it's literally hitting a brick wall or concrete whatever 😂😂😂
@@nicoaleman this quite literally the same logic that lets apple sell you a similar spec phone for exponential prices
First
Nice
What is up with that shirt 😬
FreeRide bumpers suck yet FM won’t admit it
Oh really? I haven't ridden them. What don't you like about them?
we all want real bangs without the unnecessary chonk! FM just mentioned in their podcast the pint is the most popular platform on the planet - and it's got a lot more hype around it with the pint V kit and now pint S : ]
@@TheFloatLife they’re not anything like B.A.N.G. Bumpers. They’re pretty soft IMO. Had screws push right through the bumper mount and they wanted to say oh you over tightened them. Okay like this is the first time I’ve ever had screws go through the bumper mount. FFM
I currently have 2 screws stuck in my bangs so… it happens.
