      I do realize that it’s way too early to buy a tire but I don’t really care, this will supposedly increase the performance of my board, also it looks so much cooler

      Hi there! Just wondering how your experience went! I just discovered this channel and have just bought a used Pint (not the X) a few days ago. 40 years old and about 240-245 lbs. First day took me a while to find the balance and stop the jitters. Looking way ahead and not down definitely helped. After about two dozen embarrassing attempts to mount it (and a sprained left ankle), I finally got the hang of it and rose 2.6 miles! Good luck!

    Just found your channel. 👍 Congrats on the Pint, Onewheels are great fun.
    I've got over 7000 miles on my XRs and the thing I wish someone had told me at the start would be to practice jumping off with both feet. Forget heel lift dismount and simple stop, just practice over and over slowing right down and jump off with both feet. Do it so many times that you can do it nice and neat and your Pint just plops down gracefully... jumping off heelside is best, so your Pint is in front of you.
    It sounds like a dumb thing to practice, but you program your brain/reflexes for both feet to instantly leave the board at the same time, and be able to do it effortlessly. Then later, when you are in a bail out situation (will happen a lot) you can just get both feet instantly off the board and get them on the ground in a safe footing, trust me, this will save your bacon... 😎

    What a brilliant review! I'm 70yrs old and in the process of advertising my bike for sale; I don't want my last ride to be a wreck. Guess I'm not seriously considering a one wheel, but if I were younger I think it would be right up my alley cause it's the closest thing to effortless motion available, that doesn't require a license, etc.kind of like flying on the ground. If you're pretty sure your bod can stand a moderate smackdown I'd go for it

      I am 59, and considering one of these. I will say, as I have gotten older, I respect not getting injured, as healing time is longer. I can ride a skateboard just fine, and a unicycle, so I consider myself to have decent balance. I would lean towards the GT, as I weigh in the 190’s. My wife tells me I would get killed on one, but that never stopped any of my other purchases 😂

    I just wanted to say thanks so much for this video! As someone who has never experienced ANY board sport and an amateur rollerblader I was nervous ordering and learning a Onewheel. Because of your funny, safe, and realistic approach I was able to get up and ride in about 15 minutes with only one true minor fall. Appreciate you taking one for the team and sharing your learnings so I didn't have to. So glad I ordered one. Only on day 2, and we already have 12 miles on the board. It's a total blast, and already made a new friend/riding partner out of a complete stranger who just saw me riding. P.S. you're right about the stupid plug....lost it on my first day, got replacements at the store that don't fit, and have decided to just replace packing tape between charges.

However, since I'm over 70 I'm now thinking an electric wheelchair, clip the speed restrictions and turn it into a mall rocket with flame decals. Maybe even see if it can be made street legal with additional mods. Thanks for this introduction to what looks like a fun way to get around.

    Good video. I really agree about the fender. Lucky for me the shop I bought from through one in for free. I'm not sure about the need for charge plug but I don't ride in dirt and water. You treat machines good and they will treat you better. The rail guards are a waste. You can use the same protective tape we use on Mt bike frames and SUP rails. Works awesome! I'm a little on the fence about the Fang thing. I bought a V1 7 yrs ago rode 1500mi and never had a nose dive. My son had a nose dive 50ft from the house? He hit hard and it scared the crap out of him. So I built front safety wheels for it out of some old roller blades...Super easy diy mod. They didn't help my sons fear but I left them on anyway. I put a Two-x battery on my V1 and even though the motor is rated 500w for the given battery voltage my ranged more than doubled. Did I mention that I weight about 250lbs LOL. I put an after market mini lighted voltmeter on it and never looked back. Never needed to carry a phone again. When the Pint came out I had to try it. Wholly crap what a cool
    board! I rode XR's side by side with my V1/ Two-x and in my world I couldn't feel the difference. I really wanted a new toy anyway. so bought a Pint. I just ride for the ride. I'm not a basher or a speed demon and my Mountain bike is my off road machine of choice. I bought the Pint and 3 different wore out tires later I upgraded the battery to make it a Quart. Personally I love the tighter stance of the Pint. This is a turny little machine and even at 250lbs it will go further than care to ride in one session. I'm 66 now and still 250lbs and still having a blast on my Pint. I've ridden everything and for me it's still my fav! I guess not for everyone.

    The process of learning to ride a OneWheel is not at all easy like Future Motion dictates, I had a VERY hard time on it my first week of ownership. This was a great video to watch, seeing your learning process was super on point. But, once I figured out riding stance and letting the OneWheel control itself and read my body movements, I started really enjoying the riding experience. Everyone learns differently, and once you get the hang of it, the OneWheel is an absolutely awesome toy, I love my pint!

    This is so accurate. I'm on day 2 with mine and tried starting on grass. Turns out uneven ground is NOT the place to learn. So I've been pissing off my neighbors the last half hour riding up and down the hallway. Still get the wobbles but the hallway is tight and so are the turns, so it helps. Once my helmet arrives I'm gonna hit the parking lot. Made it up to 7 mph and feeling more comfortable. But my dismounts are less than graceful.

    Good day fellow floater! Your learning curve was very close to mine, even though I picked the XR. I have skateboard experience and even with it, I found learning the onewheel still required a lot of practice. But after a month of having it, I have clocked in 587 Km on it at time of writing and I don't regret it one bit. Even with the steep price. (had to get a fender, as the rocks were pooling on the pads and going in unexpected puddles would make things quite messy). Rail guards are doing their job as well, they're scuffed but take the damage instead of the aluminum frame.
    I often go on hour-long rides, pushing 20+km in distance just because riding that thing is just so amazing!
    Thanks for sharing your experience, too!

    I started with a Pint, but went to an XR after a couple weeks. Those couple extra MPH make a huge difference. I do appreciate the Pint’s sensor light and overal playfulness, but the XR is much more relaxing ride which is what I want day to day and for commuting.

  • @Funcentric

    Thanks for the video. Most of the turning is done with the rear foot so normally people have their dominant foot on the rear like a snowboard. Right "handed" people have left foot forward. Left "handed" people are "goofy footed" with the right foot forward.

    • @tonystubbs9189

      While I agree with the comment about turning with the rear foot the rest really isn't accurate at all.

    • @Funcentric
      @Funcentric 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tonystubbs9189 it’s not really a matter of agreeing or not. It’s observing how things are. Most people who are right footed are not goofy footed. Makes sense because think about which foot you would turn with - the dominant one.

    • @tonystubbs9189
      @tonystubbs9189 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well anyways this version makes more sense. Left footed and left handed are quite different. And you may not know a large portion of left handed people have become quite ambidextrous in this right handed world. Rightys don't notice this.

    A good way to find if you ride standard or goofy foot, is to run and jump. The foot/leg you put in front is your dominate foot. Awesome channel!

Also helpful to think about rider size and model. I'm 200lbs so considering the larger option from your suggestion.

    Just got mine today. It’s a surf/snow board on wheels. Its pricey but awesome. It’s easier for those experienced with skate, surf or snow boards. Balance is key! Even if you move forward, you still want your head to be above the wheel and not in front and just turn with you hips like a surf/snow board. You want stand vs bending (unstable) little bend ok but too much bend board starts to shake. When you stop, slow down and come to a stop and hop off with both feet. Bottom line, Practice makes perfect. You will bust your ass but you will learn from it.

    Okay you've convinced me on the padded motorcycle jacket. It's less of a hurdle to riding as far as putting on elbow pads, and it has the shoulders. Plus it can look a lot cooler.
    If I'm forced to ride in the sun, that's less skin that needs sunscreen, and UV rays also go through regular clothing. Then also just the general skin coverage to prevent grazes on areas that aren't like an elbow.
    After some research, you actually have the exact jacket I landed on. Except now they have a version 2 that I do definitely prefer.
    Then there's still other pads, too.

      @@travishamiltontattoos4635 I noticed that when my tire pressure is too low, I get severe wobbling on flat pavement/ sidewalks. Granted the XR has a tire that is more squared than the pint, I keep a closer eye on the PSI now as a result, removes some of the 'squirellyness' when there shouldn't be any :)

    • @travishamiltontattoos4635
      @travishamiltontattoos4635 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheLionheartcartoon well usually its the opposite. Higher pressure =higher carvability because there less tire thats actually touching the ground at any given time. But i guess if the pressure was REALLY low the results would be similar. Almost a mushy kind of feel. Out of the box its supposed to be 20 psi. But I've seen tires vary greatly out of the box. I've seen 13, 23 and 27. Even saw a post where someone's was 37!.

    FEW BITS OF ADVICE
    16:59 -lol just turn on the board, the motor will be engaged and the board will sit still
    Also, no time stamp needed for this one, buy some rail guards/sidekicks! While the sides of your board are made of metal, they will still get quite scratched up overtime. Also, that charge plug is extremely easy to lose. My advice is to just put two little pieces of scotch tape on the flat parts of the plug connecting to your rails, and it just makes me that much more confident when I take this thing somewhere. I’ve already lost one plug somehow. You may also want to consider reinforcing it every time.
    8:50 your foot placement is fine, but your shoes are bad for this. From reddit, here’s Glyph8’s explanation on how the footpads work:
    Front sensor pad (there is no sensor on rear pad) works thus:
    If < 1 MPH, BOTH sides of pad need to sense pressure. If either left or right side senses no pressure, motor disengages (= the heel-lift stop).
    If > 1 MPH, ONLY left OR right side needs to sense pressure. This allows lifting heel OR toe when turning or carving. (You can also shift your heel or toe by sliding it rather than lifting it, like you‘re grinding out a cigarette with your shoe).
    If > 1 MPH and BOTH sides sense no pressure for > 1 second, motor disengages on assumption rider has fallen off (deadman's switch). The 1-second buffer is to allow for your foot leaving the pad briefly due to a jostle/bump/drop etc. without disengaging the motor. It also allows you to quickly shift your foot around.
    Thanks for reading, and protect yourself and the board!! Have fun :D
