The highway bridges need to be about 40m high, but the parallel distance needs to be 4 or 6. The pillars conflict with each other.
For helping you biffa
There is an upgrade in ferry harbour where you can add bus stops to it
Maybe it can become your leafing bus hub and the old one can be removed for recreation
Keep watching 👍😉
When I built my bridge over the shipping lane I found that it wasn't the height over shipping (min. of 37.5m i believe) that was causing the error, it was the water depth of the pylons. If I raised the riverbed under where they'd be, it worked fine. They need to fix that....
That final shot of the wheatfields and the city is GORGEOUS!
Not sure if this is a thing yet, but when you mentioned 'beachfront' I thought it would be cool if you can make it in this game. Perhaps a little bay with some touristy thingies or camping and some sand along the shore... I can imagine it would be so cute ☺
I think the new housing area could really use some commercial. I remember visiting shops when I was waiting on the ferry when I lived near Seattle.
you built the new district as a massive cul de sac. I would add one more small local connection closer to the houses on the other end
That's completely a cul-de-sac. Only one way in and out if they're not on foot. You should connect a road about 1/2 way through it. Also a little commercial in the area wouldn't hurt.
35m is usually enough to get a shipping lane underneath! I have played around with it and it seems to be easier if you pause the game, delete the piece of shipping lane where the bridge crosses and draw the bridge. Then take off snapping and draw the shipping lane but you usually need to jiggle it a bit! 🤣
Think the reason it wouldnt let you place the radio tower or add a sideroad was because of the grass you laid under the road.
23:03 "a soccer field" 😂🤠🇺🇲
I was about to say… I know quite a few British people… and that’s literally the first time I’ve heard one say soccer without being told too as a joke😂 honestly a moment for the British history books
The amount of bugs in this game is astonishing. I feel your frustration Biffa
could add a smidge of commercial at the end of the american row houses, maybe a little coastal path to it from the housing as well.
Oh what a giggle I had. What silly houses! As someone else said "a lot of musical chairs".
One thing to note with the ferry harbour it looks like it has it's own bus terminal so you don't need the bus stops....of course the bus I saw could've been doing a little bit of a dance on it's way somewhere else.
Hey, at 20:00, instead of adding a surface, you could just extend the “building’s” surface. Just hover over the edges of the building while in the surfaces section in the landscaping menu. Hope this helps!😁
Ahh... the Go Forth Road Bridge! Lovely jubbly! Reckon you could continue the 3-lane each way from the bridge to the interchange too for added lusciousness.
Get well soon Biffa! I just got over COVID for the 2nd time last week, so I know the feels
Thankyou. Hope you feel OK now 👍
Biffa you do realize that your placement of the internet tower wastes the majority of your coverage is over empty water.
I can feel your frustration with the game (also watched your video on improvements you’d like to see) but from a personal point of view, still love watching your videos and love watching you develop and create a beautiful city. (Albeit frustrating and lacking “uniqueness”) Keep up the great work Biffa! Thank you!
15:23 "distance too short" CS2 really is a size queen huh
Also, for little areas near things like a dock or other industry, you could make it concrete and put some props there like trailers, silos, etc? Or just some bushes that have grown there since nobody is using the space for anything.
30:58 The houses are just performing their own musical like the Christmas Hershey's kisses commercial.
Ahh the Michigan left - have spent a lot of time in Michigan for work and know it all too well. It is rather efficient once you get the hang of it.
As a Michigan resident, I can confirm. We've been getting a lot of round abouts as well! At least in the southeast portion of the State
Yes I’ve moved around a lot for work. California, Nevada, Utah, New York and New England. Roundabouts are a staple in New England - especially Massachusetts. But they are catching on elsewhere even California.
Florida - where I also spend a ton of time for work apparently has the most of any state. But given that Florida is 3x the size of Massachusetts in terms of population it makes some sense. I must be honest I guess I haven’t noticed them as much as in Massachusetts and central New England. I’ve spent considerable time in Miami, Tampa and Orlando but it’s such a big state they are probably spread out and /or concentrated in certain areas. I wouldn’t have guessed Florida was the US roundabout capital.
I like that the opener was "Mi'SH'igan left". It's also Bois'Ee' Idaho.
@@dfoleyusaI watched a video concerning Florida intersection reworking, and it seems to be the water table doesn't provide much leniency for tunnels to be implemented, maybe this resulted in some creative solutions in certain places.
My aunt in Philadelphia lived in a townhouse similar to the ones you placed. They are basically 2-up, 2-down arrangements much like the old estate housing in the UK. Up here in New England, we have factory housing exactly like the old UK 2-up, 2-down townhouses. They were built by the mill owners for their workers when the big textile companies owned the people, the cities, and everything else around them. Today, in such cities as Manchester, Lowell, and Lawrence, they are prized places to live and many are on the historic register.
Yorkshire Golden Gate Bridge - awesome ^-^
1. the anarchy mod has been glitching so it might be that.
2. maybe add some commercial to the area
3. add another path/bridge across the river so theres another pathway to get to the school
4. I wonder if the landvalue might have something to do with the services
👍
You put a new transformer in Viken Crossing but left the old unconnected 8:46
He was like: am I a joke to you?
Hey @Biffa, to avoid this issue within the zoning, always start with snap into the grid and remove it when drawing. Keep the snap to the grid size.
You might want to make sure no one named Frederick is living on Elm Street in Leafing. 😆
"Blightea Rightea"... 😆
Call it the Golden Kettle bridge, like the Golden Gate bridge
Love the golden gate bridge!! As usual had some laughs at the houses trying to decide if they wanted to stay or go 😁 Looks lovely!!😍
31:15 biffa tryng say what the heck but with a glich is so funny
Leafing is starting to look absolutely beautiful! Maybe you could mix in some of of the mixed housing in the middle of the new district to give it more of a small rural town feeling?
At 26:16, "why did these draw in ok, but this one doesn't"? It's because you have the snap to zone grid chosen and your road segment ended in the zone grid aligned with the other curved road.
The bridge distance between the 2 lanes needs to increase. I have fought those issues also.
Always happy to see a new episode online biffa!
Thankyou 🙏
An observation on large bridges... they usually either connect to existing high land close to the water, or continue quite a long way inland as they descend, with entire neighbourhoods built in their shadow.
San Francisco's Bay Bridge is a good example of that... on the SF end, it's connected to an elevated highway that runs a couple of miles through the city before the rest of the land rises to meet it. Sydney's Harbour Bridge is similar... long elevated highways on either side, a kilometer or so from land to the first chance to get down onto the local roads. Tokyo's Rainbow Bridge is an oddball... that actually has a corkscrew at one end, looping around to gain height without requiring the elevation to start too far back.
So I don't think you need to worry too much about how high you needed to raise the land for your new bridge... just as long as you use enough distance to get it down at a reasonable slope.
its really amazing every build District you do has something to do with Tea. Leavieng
I like the NA low density housing. It looks like Philadelphia or somewhere like that. The new area might need services (internet, police, etc). Hope you feel better soon!
6:30. Overhead lines can't bend, Biffa.
So as a nod to your faux pas you should name an area or street “Mitchigan”. I could see an island called Mitchigan Island😅
😅
Nice video I am enjoying this series
Thank you Biffa! I love your content! Keep it up m8, hope you feel tip top soon!
Thankyou 🙏
You can always upgrade the roads to have protected sound barriers in places where the highway is near a residential area.
Have a beautiful stretch of river, perfect for scenic housing - place your zoning so that NOONE has a river view! That's the Biffa Way! :-)
Gotta keep that land value down 😅
Well done, sir! I gave up on working with passenger vessels on my map since they are cruise ship therminals, not ferries. The cargo ships make sense but not passengers to me.
Leafing is by far the best neighborhood to leaf (live) in 😂
Thankyou 🙏
The bridge can act as a pantograph for the boat below to give them a little boost of power as they sail under
love the episode, keep it up :) get well soon x
Thank you! 😊
No worries 😊❤@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines
Looks like the boats go on the left too if you choose European option for your roads.
It’s not the map theme that makes left sided traffic. Europe drives on the right.
@@samuelhulme8347 yeah I know they do, but I’m wondering if choosing it makes the boats on the left too. Maybe the devs dont know boats go on the right in Europe. Idk
@@jonblair5470 in CS2, like CS1, there is an option separate to the map theme that changes which side of the road vehicles drive. So you could have a North American theme that drives on the left.
Bridges over a shipping lane have to be very tall above the water because you wouldn't want a tall ship crashing into your bridge
Pretty sure It’s a glitch with the shipping lanes not letting any bridge over. Obviously without Anarchy
I would think so 👍
From Michigan with love! As the 26th greatest state in the union, we don't often make international media.
For the new row housing by the farms, you should add a few more connections, otherwise it's a huge cul-de-sac and I don't know how realistic that is
For the UK, very realistic 👍
i think the new area needs a couple of shops and maybe a bridge to the other side. it would help with the cul-de-sac on either side. maybe a couple of animal farms out by the welfare office could round out that area.
Savage Biffa, maybe you won't complain about high rent when you start working! lol, Grumpy Biffa, love it, makes me think Biffa is very similar to me!! Oh you left the bus from the port to the bus station at 8 simolians, Thought transport was free here?
🤣
Bilghtea-righty, love it!
Loved this video, loved the new ferry links and the Golden Gate Bridge being put in - or should be called something else, methinks?
I just looked back to the ferry terminal setup near the airport, and.... HORRORS!!! That terminal at the airport is higher up than the one at Leafling!! I think you need to lower it down, or everyone is gonna need cranelifts and large stair ramps to get between the ferries and the terminal. Also, you need to beautify that spot, because the terminal is right close to that industry zone, and I'm sure passengers wanting to go to the airport will want something nice to enjoy and look at that ugly factory buildings; not to mention you need a nice quay side surrounding the terminal. And may I suggest a shuttle bus arrangement between the ferry terminal and the airport?
Biffa it about time you added the Biffa garbage trucks to cities skylines
Well this welcome surprise on a Sunday :)
Enjoy!
Can't believe I just heard a British man say "soccer field" with zero hesitation or other commentary
I so often mix English and American (😉) names for things because they can be called both in games 😅
Trees coming out of the water. I don't know if that's a glitch or if that's an intended feature. But it reminds me of Eufaula Lake in Oklahoma
Feel better soon, Biffa!
Thankyou 🙏
Yay kettlebridge!
Nice Video!
Thanks!
You didn't build the Golden Gate bridge, but you did build GMT Bridge Over the River Twi(nings) 😜
The ships are left hand traffic, too.
Didn’t quite finish my comment before hitting post after commenting on Michigan lefts. I’m glad Biffa uploads frequently. One of my hobbies is CS and his tips / tools methods are always instructive. I will admit I haven’t taken the plunge on CS2 given the launch / optimization issues but once those are sorted I’ll buy it and I’ll be prepared from watching Biffa’s videos. He really explains things well and his videos are not only fun to watch but super instructive.
Thankyou 🙏
Of course I have been meaning to comment. You’re videos are a life/timesaver for non experts like me. It appears CO is getting things together so I’m planning on taking the CS2 plunge in the not too distant future. My only concern is I need to ensure I set strict time limits as I always get sucked in by Cities Skyline and the game looks very pretty. For now absorbing your videos so I can learn from your trial and error. It’s super helpful.
Petition for biffa to rename the outside connection cities to previous cities in CS 1
I think a garage would do good to help that new north american flats section you built
the problem you had with the first bridge, it wasnt the height that was the problem. you need to increase the space between the 2 roads - the default just isnt wide enough and they collide, thats why you couldnt place it
If you end up having to need to move your power lines, just in case you weren't aware you can run them underground. You probably are but never know I guess. Plus a comment for the algorithm.
You can also make a little cut out square in farm fields so you can have powerlines running through a farm. Which here in Aus at least is fairly realistic in rural areas.
Not that the farmers are happy about it lol - I'm not super good at explaining how but you use the area tool which changes the shape of a farm, but use it to make another separate one inside the field that already exists then it makes a cut out & you can place a power line in it.
Thankyou 👍😁
Hey.. you say Michigan however you want!!! If its Mitchigan its Mitchigian.
You should add an outside boat line out of the map near the airport
Your downtown needs a serious expansion compared to your city size
So....Michigan don't get no Tea? Poor people living there.
Am I allowed to point out that in the UK we spell Metre with “re” and not with “er” at the end as in your title :) Apart from that, another pleasurable watch even given the limited features of CS2
You have made the new area a cul-de-sac. With how many people live there you need more access. The road from the farms could continue to connect with the road to parks and you can also bridge the river where the land dips down and connect to the other side without having to go all the way around and trough the highway. If you forbid lorries and trucks from using that bridge I do not think you will have problem with heavy duty cargo traffic cutting trough residential area.
By the way, I would demolish the first row of houses from the highway and do more sound cancelling in that space. The houses on the other side of the road are OK, I think.
BTW, I may have hated how you said MiTchEgAn, but at the same time I'm one who just laughs at my hatred of it, because this is just a big ol' world full of various dialects and accents :D. I'm sure I say more than a few things "funny" myself.
We all do, we all do 😅
My experience has shown that people will not use the boats nor rail lest the connection to the highway is severed.
Too many bugs.
I love ya Biffa; you're creative and optimistic, but the game lets you down. :(
CS I still rules!
im taking credit for the bridge placement since i suggested it a few videos ago lol
Well....I thought of it the day before that!! 🤣
I feel like the actual Golden Gate Bridge has a bigger Arch than that 🤔
Not to jinx you. I haven't seen you cause a flood yet. 😂
😬
That airport ferry terminal height was extremely tough to watch!
It'll be adjusted when we do some work over there 👍
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines sorry mate, that was meant to have a laugh emoji! Not a serious critique, love the vids.
😁
egg had the same problem with the bridges over waterways , it's a bug.
Those American row houses look like they were modeled more or less after Philadelphia/Mid Atlantic row houses down to the awnings. Pretty solid job CO. You have to remember Biffa - the reason they look more or less British is because of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic’s strong colonial ties to the UK. We may be independent and have been for some time but a huge portion of our foundation is British. While I wouldn’t trade that independence for anything we do owe a tremendous amount to Britain in law, custom and yes - architecture i.e. the row house.
And Tea 😅
😂 indeed. Though America is now a heavy coffee drinking nation. Tea is very far down the drink choice chart and this has to do with the 1773 tax revolt and Boston Tea Party. The revolt irreparably damaged the reputation of tea here in the US. Even during the US Civil War when the south couldn’t reliably get coffee due to the Northern blockade they brewed coffee substitutes forgoing tea as an option. If not for the revolt we’d likely be massive tea consumers.
Still if I had to choose between tea and the foundation rule of law and concept of rights we inherited and tweaked I’d have to go with the British foundations of law and rights as the single greatest export we took in. Liberty as a concept is rooted in English common law and such an extraordinary invention. It’s the reason so many former British colonies are beacons of hope and prosperity. Perfect - no but Britain laid the foundation for modern concepts of liberty and democracy. It’s quite extraordinary when you sit back and think about this smallish island nation exporting an idea that would flourish in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India and other places across the globe. Again it wasn’t perfect but conceptually look what has been achieved. Remarkable simply remarkable the influence Britain has had on our modern way of life.
I think you forgot to add the second junction for the people in the new row houses at Leafing.
I do hope you have an area called Steeping hills
Leafing needs path connections!
Anancy is encouraging some of Biffa's more unfortunate design tendencies. That bridge is far too short and low.
bummer that there isn't a difference bewteen ferry and passenger ship. Add to the list of opportunities.
Golden Gatea bridge name? (and name the high school after the bridge)
When will we get official mod support, and when will we get all the content for the ultimate edition?
March for mods, hopefully. The rest who knows 🤷♂️
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Ok
Your Yorkshire Golden Gate bridge is way too low across the water. It looks weird. The actual Golden Gate Bridge is 220 ft (67.1 m) above the water. Keep in mind the road is even higher.
They're British! At least give them a corner shop or two to keep them happy. And gennels to split up the longest long blocks of terraces, because people like shortcuts.
Of course! 👍
The grid breaking for no reason at all when drawing roads is beyond frustrating I was told on CS2 modding discord that nothing can be done because it is the change to meters that doesn't work exactly with grids, well I have several screenshot of where the grid should work but doesn't, But I can't get this across, for some reason people in there are defending this.
Yeah it's a joke and very frustrating...
try to see if you can mod the grasses to look together. i hate how the light green just looks plopped there
that bus to the ferry costs 8 simoleons
😬
maybe some shops in the new neighbourhood
23:03 "A soccer field" 😂🇺🇸🤠⚾🌭🥧🍔🦅🦅🦅 You've already forgot the proper British designation, "English footbal pitch." 😉🇬🇧🏴🦁🦊&🐶s🫖🍻🥂
The Golden Gate Bridge? Since it's red 🌉🌉 how about the Twinings Tea Bridge after Twinings' English Breakfast Tea? 🫖
I love how you make this game fun to watch! I found CS2 city builds being done by others not fun at all. 😢
😁👍
Slightly American yes but definitely a culdesac design we've had over here at times * cough Milton Keynes cough *
