NONE yeah but the ds still holds up very well today because the games are clearly built for its control scheme. The psp on the other hand always feels like the experience is compromised due to the lack of a second stick, as a lot of games on it were really built with 2 sticks in mind and just ported to psp.

I made one of this for my 3000, but the function of my Right analog stick is for the D-pad (up, down, left, right) button. I made it to make me able to play Gunner in Monster Hunter FU and P3RD with ease. I also added a sound-reactive LED and Vibration Mod on that unit with 5000mAH battery Mod. A mixed fun and frustration those times of modding, but its worth the time and expenses

I also got a PSP go yesterday and i plan on adding a second nub using a sony ericsson joystick. For now, i use macrofire to swap the analog and dpad functions and it's quite usable since the psp go is so small, i can move my caracter in mhfu with the dpad and move the camera with the analog. But i wand a secont joystick in place of the start/select
Now you should do an l2 and an r2 mod! To finish making the PSP how it should have been! You can even do that for the Vita that would be extremely cool I was planning on making something like this eventually in my life but things just never got better for me and unfortunately my life took a really hard turn never was able to try all these ideas it's cool to see someone actually do stuff like this

i think it would just be better to use emulation on ps vita for its improved performance and 2nd joystick natively already. What I like about this video tho is it's proof of concept and that it could have been done. The modding community never ceases to amaze me.
I wish if Sony did this on PSP having a two thumbstick input on their retail release, there's no need for them to develop Vita. They could just update and give better performance, graphics and firmware, making it completely portable. Still though, PSP is still an amazing handheld I've ever had.

Wonderful this is great and for the people who emulate just move the d-pad to the right side of psp emulater and it's having a second analog at least that's what I do for hm heros of leaf valley

If PSP’s just had 2 sticks from the get-go, it would’ve fixed one of the console’s few glaring problems: the fact that a lot of its games had to make compromises because of only having 1 stick
The thing is, yes you can solder another stick to the system. Problem is, psp games dont know about any second sticks by default and usually have camera binds on d pad or none at all, so it still wouldnt work And psp firmware doesnt know about it, so it wouldn't work twice. The effort is, however, very impressive
I think if PSP came out a little bit later if they had just left it in the oven and came out with a PSP almost Vita with two sticks and had an l2 and r2 what they could have done is moved over most existing PS2 titles with a graphical downgrade I think the PSP would still be around it would have been super successful :/

Sony spent too much time on something insignificant in the end, and were late by a whole year, and yeah, you see the results In the end, all Vita was able to offer was slightly higher resolution and 2 sticks(which later 3ds models also offer), but no software to make that matter As opposed to the 3ds which had great game library, some of which used it's specialities to it's fullest. Without any second stick or subHD resolution.

I'm not a big fan (personally) about needing to rip a big hole in the system, and needing to modify the stick module. I did have a thought, however. What about using a small 5 way tact switch instead? since they are usually smaller, and could easily be replaced if you play the system enough that you wear the stick out.

i'm too dumb to do this stuff so kudos for doing this, its mostly for a side project though, it would probably work only for fps games like what you've shown here, for 3d games prior to dual analogs eg psx1, i'm not sure if that would work as games were not programmed for it eg vita can emulate psx games but i don't think analogs work forcing you to use the dpad AND those games (eg bugs life) didn't have dual support, they had a terrible work around in the psx1 days i.e shoulder button eg R1 made it recenter the screen etc Its been a long time but i think some games had a shoulder button for look left and look right. Still clunky

Yes, i modified the joystick to act like 4 buttons switch. With a sony ericsson joystick, this mod is much easier since the joystick is smaller. You can see my videos about analog joystick on nintendo DS, i used similar joysticks to sony ericsson phones joystick

If you could try using Dual Nintendo joysticks using the functionality L3 and R3 to use other buttons like triangle or square to make this a FPS BEAST i would like to play this on metal gear peace walker 😊

It is almost exactly what I was thinking the PSP Vita should become I think you can make an interesting video turning a Vita into something similar to the GPD 4 and of course going ham with all the other modernization and modifications that can be done adding an l2 and r2 as well as l3 and r3 would be really awesome I think it would make a really good video for you I would do these kind of things myself and I've always wanted to but unfortunately I am lacking in skill parts space and most importantly knowledge and money to do so I hope to see my version of the vida be built by you this is the closest handheld piece of equipment that looks like what I thought it should look like and I thought you would like to see the GPD win 4 is really really close as to what I thought the Vita should be I hope that getting a look at it will help inspire you You could modify a Vita and do a sort of modernization would be a neat video I'd love to see that! :)
I know there's enough space to have put an l2 and r2 there along with a second joystick so whenever the Vita came out I was mega pissed I wish that they had just developed it a little bit further originally so that most PS2 games could have been ported over with a graphical downgrade without fucking up the controls I think they would have been a lot more successful that way

Ok I think you're the person for the task. Hear me out: A PS Vita Slim (2000) with a bezeless screen. So instead of the black borders with the PS Vita logo, it will just be all screen. How's that sound? Think we can do it? I'll provide the Vitas. And pay for custom screen panels.
@@diyotaku yep the motherboard is smaller. It is well packed inside the vita but there is definitely room for creativity. The touch digitizer is not a concern but I believe we may be able to do it.
@@DARKSHREK000 I took a look on google for some pictures with psvita touchscreen. As far as i saw it is made from a single mold which include those bezels. It is almost impossible to cut a touchscreen glass (to remove black bezels) and expect the touch to continue working as normal

I loved this mod back in the day. It made the system shooter friendly and made some games better. It was the ps vita before the was a thing. :D

l2 and r2 is on rear touch pad on vita there no need for a mod for the vita

I Have a 3000 model and i wanna do the same mod with a sony ericsson joystick but i would really like the feel of a psp joystick. Did you follow a tutorial? Can you explain what you do here? Yes, i modified the joystick to act like 4 buttons switch. With a sony ericsson joystick, this mod is much easier since the joystick is smaller. You can see my videos about analog joystick on nintendo DS, i used similar joysticks to sony ericsson phones joystick

I understand that you are converting it from an analog to a digital joystick, and you need to create 5 contacts for it to work. My question is how do you do that? Did you follow a diagram? Is it possible to explain here what you do in detail? Thanks again, I love your videos!
@@ChristosPanagoulopoulos I used a multimeter to find the soldering points of the buttons, the rest is just wiring.

the buttons still work. I just solder wires to copy the buttons
@@diyotaku Yes I realised, I meant softwarewise you had to sacrifice the buttons since you can’t use them for anything else other than as the right joystick.

If you could try using Dual Nintendo joysticks using the functionality L3 and R3 to use other buttons like triangle or square to make this a FPS BEAST i would like to play this on metal gear peace walker 😊

Hello hello I know I've already commented on your video but I highly suggest you look at the GPD win 4 !!!! It is almost exactly what I was thinking the PSP Vita should become I think you can make an interesting video turning a Vita into something similar to the GPD 4 and of course going ham with all the other modernization and modifications that can be done adding an l2 and r2 as well as l3 and r3 would be really awesome I think it would make a really good video for you I would do these kind of things myself and I've always wanted to but unfortunately I am lacking in skill parts space and most importantly knowledge and money to do so I hope to see my version of the vida be built by you this is the closest handheld piece of equipment that looks like what I thought it should look like and I thought you would like to see the GPD win 4 is really really close as to what I thought the Vita should be I hope that getting a look at it will help inspire you

How about replacing those sliding sticks with proper joysticks?
I know there's enough space to have put an l2 and r2 there along with a second joystick so whenever the Vita came out I was mega pissed I wish that they had just developed it a little bit further originally so that most PS2 games could have been ported over with a graphical downgrade without fucking up the controls I think they would have been a lot more successful that way

Ok I think you're the person for the task. Hear me out:
A PS Vita Slim (2000) with a bezeless screen. So instead of the black borders with the PS Vita logo, it will just be all screen. How's that sound? Think we can do it? I'll provide the Vitas. And pay for custom screen panels.
if the ps vita motherboard is smaller than the screen, it can be done, but it might lose touchscreen capabilities
@@diyotaku yep the motherboard is smaller. It is well packed inside the vita but there is definitely room for creativity. The touch digitizer is not a concern but I believe we may be able to do it.
@@DARKSHREK000 I took a look on google for some pictures with psvita touchscreen. As far as i saw it is made from a single mold which include those bezels. It is almost impossible to cut a touchscreen glass (to remove black bezels) and expect the touch to continue working as normal
