PSP is my favourite handheld console ever, it had a lot of games that i loved. Plus, you can install a custom firmware to play retro games with emulators and customize pretty much everything. It was awesome for its days and it's still awesome now. I spent like 6000 hours playing on it as a kid when i was 12-13 years old!
I just replaced my PSP 1000 with IPS and the battery performance is way better than the original, it must be because the backlight is newer and more efficient.

Screen looks fantastic after the upgrade. Excellent work to bring this legendary handheld to life again and the clear case is sweeeeeet! You can always play PSP games on an OLED screen with a VITA and Custom Firmware. Dual analogues, better d-pad and a fantastic screen. There's also the awesome PS Vita library. Just mentioning that though not to take anything away from this really great vid :)

Probably no one has noticed the motherboard revisions that this guy was using, but the motherboard it had the PSP 1005, during dissassembly, was a model TA-079, but when the guy was ready to use the soldering iron to bridge the contacts where it was the fuse nearby the screen, was a TA-086 model, which is the final revision of the PSP 1000 series by using same screen carity, and brightness like the 2000 model, after the first model PSP 2000 was launched (TA-085). My question is, the TA-079 wasn't compatible with the IPS screen, or it was broken?
You have hawk eyes. This is what I explained in the comments of other Koreans. I failed when I first installed it on the motherboard. The reason is that the plastic in the display connector under the soldering point was broken. So, the display did not come out, so the board was changed after the disassembly was completed in this video. Both models are applied with IPS. But the soldering point is slightly different. It is well displayed on the sales page. Thanks for the comment.
@@DIYDrK Well, I worked with countless model PSPs (with the exception of the Go, and the Street E1000 models), back in 2012, I was around 16 years old, I had the goal to chase for an 3000 model, for whatever reason, I had no interest with the Go, and the Street models, due for certain high-production costs. Anyway, I had an 1000 model that had the motherboard model TA-082 America version, but the UMD switch broke in 2013, so at 2020, I decided to revive it by replacing the motherboard with the same version, but this model TA-082 bought from China, was an Japanese region version...
But for whatever reason, this motherboard AGAIN, fail, but not the UMD switch was the issue, but the motherboard didn't turned on, well, I see a green light, but it immediately shuts off when I switch it on (probably bricked) so AGAIN, I ordered another motherboard, plus I gave the model which I wanted, but those sellers misunderstood my message, and instead, I received an TA-079. Well, is not a problem, as long as it works, but this model version make me buy an different sound/wireless card to support the TA-079 motherboard, which I believe is the sound/wireless card model MS-268. However, for whatever reason, there is a failure in this motherboard, I can't connect with any other PSP to play/transfer games/data/support advantage to other players.
Thank you for including a comparison between the 3000 LCD screen and the 1000 IPS upgrade, i couldn't get this footage anywhere on the internet! The 3000's looks surprisingly good compared to the IPS one albeit a bit warmer colors overall and the contrast is just a bit better on the IPS one. Overall not really worth selling my 3000 to get a 1000 with an IPS upgrade unless you REALLY wanna get rid of the scanlines but in my opinion they make psp games look better especially 2D ones, but the IPS one also has scanlines but vertically not horizontaly

только нужно контроллер от старого к нему припаять, а в этом видео чел напрямую паяет без контроллера. хз почему. Тоже собрался старушку усовершенствовать. поставил флешку на 64gb , вошло 73 игры и сейчас от телефона аккумулятор засуну на 3500mAh
Great DIY battery extension installation! My question is, is it safe to remove the battery circuit protection that comes from the customize Li-Po battery, in exchange for the PSP exclusive battery circuit protection?
@@DIYDrK thanks for you experience, since I took apart an psp 1000's battery pack back in 2015, and replaced the li-po battery it had inside, but I forgot to remove the li-po battery's exclusive circuit protection, and the battery stopped working, it was a li-po battery that fit inside the original PSP 1000 battery pack shell (1800 mah) by the way.
Awesome tutorial!! I have a question… could be possible to connect the original charger input wires to the small usb charger instead to the main board? This way we can charge the psp as usual but charging directly the battery instead giving current to the whole system.

Wow! Great video! May I ask something about the PSP battery mod? I have a battery here that has three wire (black, red, white) Can I just ignore the white wire? I know that only important is the postive and negative wire so I don't know what to do with the white wire. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Great Video! For your next mod try installing a OLED screen from aliexpress and see what happens. It should work especially well as long as the screen ratio is the same.
I'd like to do it. But I think it's not possible because if the number of flat cable pins are different, it will be not connected.I didn't find that sort of display with same connector.

Is there similar conversion screen for PSP 2000? 2000 has 64mb ram, while 1000 has only 32mb Games cannot use the extra 32mb but it aids with loading time and running homebrew games and emulators, and the general speed of the PSP 2000 also has video output connection which 1000 does not have, making 2000 the more suitable choice for ultimate PSP with IPS screen and Lithium battery

@@DIYDrK 장시간이라는게 몇시간 이정도가 아니고 최대밝기로 한 10분? 정도만 고정시키고 흰배경이나 검은색 배경으로 가면 잔상? 기존화면에대한 자국이 존재합니다.. 그리고 서서히 사라지면서 5분정도 지나면 또 완벽히 사라지구요... 대표적으로 디제이맥스 한 10분정도 하다가 홈버튼 눌러보면 디맥 건반내려오는 박스 테두리 라인이 그대로 남아있습니다 ㅎㅎㅎ

와 진짜 엄청나네요 얼마전에 스위치로 슈로대 하다가 제세편 생각나서 집에 썩고있는 1000번 돌렸는데 액정이 진짜 지금은 못봐줄정도로 흐리고 물이빠져있더라구요 1화 하다가 눈아파서 때려 치웠어요 진짜 너무 탐나는 제품이네요 손재주가 부럽습니다 항상 영상 잘 보고있습니다
그렇죠 ㅋ 오랜만에 꺼내서 하다가 눈아파서 때려치우죠. 아무튼 큰 단점 하나 사라지니 정말 최고의 게임기가 되어버린 것 같습니다.

안녕하세요. 영상 잘봤습니다. 현재 psp 3005를 사용중입니다. 구매링크에 있는 디스플레이는 3005번에도 사용이 가능한건지, 디스플레이 교체시에 추가로 필요한 부품이 있는지도 궁금합니다.
IPS 디스플레이 교체는 천번대에만 적용되는 것이라서 3000번대에서는 아직까지 특별한 개조 방법은 없습니다.
That little orange indicator on the PSP-1001 models. Love it, One can watch the frequency of which the psp reads and writes data.
PS. Sony disabled it for some unknown reason.

1000번대는 튼튼하고 묵직해서 좋았는데..
이렇게 해 놓으니 너무 묵직하네요 ㅋ
진짜 좋네요. 1000번때 출시때는 액정품질이 최악이였죠 잔상도 엄청 심했고, 근데 더 최악은 작은 화면인데도 불구하고 불량화소가 걸릴 확율이 굉장히 많았다는거죠.
가끔 꺼내서 하고 싶어도 액정 때문에 할 마음이 안생겼는데, ips로 교체하고 나서는... 역시 할 마음이 안생기네요 ㅠㅠ 물론 비행기나 기차 타고 여행갈때는 최고입니다만... 코로나로 아직 여행갈 기회가 없었습니다.

I really liked what you did to improve the PSP, excellent upgrade of both the screen and the battery. I was wondering if you could improve the sound with iphone speakers that have a much better sound quality. I would like you to try these modifications and know if you sell the consoles that you modify.

You could probably 3D print a new backplate and make it a bit thicker for a better fit with the new battery.
Sorry I don't have 3D printer. I have a plan to use 3D printer someday.

hi dr.k! i just saw this video and i was amazed! i ordered (2) 5000mah batteries recently, can i connect the wires directly to the psp battery module or should I connect 2 batteries to each other first before connecting them to the module? If so, how to i connect 2 batteries to each other? Thanks!

전용충전 단자만 아니면 좋을텐데 가끔 충전기가 안보이네요
저도 그걸 C-type으로 개조해 볼까 하다가 넣을 자리도 없고 개조해도 클리어 케이스라서 충전 보드가 보이는게 좀 별로일 것 같아서 못했습니다. 클리어 케이스가 아닌 다른 케이스라면 가능할 것 같네요.

Wow! Great video! May I ask something about the PSP battery mod? I have a battery here that has three wire (black, red, white) Can I just ignore the white wire? I know that only important is the postive and negative wire so I don't know what to do with the white wire. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Yes, it is nothing. But you should connect red and black line with a PSP battery's protection circuit like this video.

PSP가 에뮬용으로 좋긴하지만 에뮬자체 버전업이 안되서 CPS3도 안돌아가고, 일부 게임 프레임드랍도 있고 아쉽긴하죠. 비타도 마찬가지.

It should work especially well as long as the screen ratio is the same.
I'd like to do it. But I think it's not possible because if the number of flat cable pins are different, it will be not connected.I didn't find that sort of display with same connector.

버튼이 구리게 나와서 누를때 접점이 완벽하게 눌러지지 않는 경우가 간혹 있더군요. 양면테잎으로 눌러주는 고무와 접점이 더 잘 닿을 수 있게 해준 것입니다. 순정 기기의 버튼도 저렇게 하면 버튼 감각이 더 좋아지는 경우도 있습니다.

네, 제생각에도 납땜보다 더 실패 가능성 높은게 디스플레이 케이블 연결 부분의 검정색 작은 플라스틱을 부러뜨리는 것 같습니다. 오래된 기기에서 제일 손상되기 쉬운 부품이죠. 저도 전에 디스플레이 새걸로 갈다가 부러뜨린 적이 있어서 잘 압니다 ㅋ

Is there similar conversion screen for PSP 2000?
2000 has 64mb ram, while 1000 has only 32mb
Games cannot use the extra 32mb but it aids with loading time and running homebrew games and emulators, and the general speed of the PSP
2000 also has video output connection which 1000 does not have, making 2000 the more suitable choice for ultimate PSP with IPS screen and Lithium battery

영상 보고 링크 타고 가서 IPS 주문했습니다^^ 국내에서 사면 5만원이나 줘야하는데 역시 알리가 저렴하네요.
15년된 PSP에 거의 15만원을 투자해서 배터리 교체, IPS 교체, 뒷 커버 교체, 내부 청소, 커피 타기, SD카드 구입까지 진행하고 있습니다. 그냥 15만원 주고 다 작업된걸 사도 좋겠지만 역시 내가 산 내 PSP에 돈을 들여 바꿔나가는게 더 좋네요.ㅎㅎ
그렇죠. 항상 제게도 그런 댓글 다시는 분들이 많죠. 그돈이면 ㅇㅇ한다. 돈이 다가 아니죠. Ch.s님 말씀처럼 나만의 기기를 만드는게 중요한거죠. 그렇게 만드는 자체도 즐겁구요. 그래서 제 채널보면서 대리 만족 하시는 분들도 많이 계시고, 어느정도 스킬이 되시는 분은 따라서 하시는 것이구요. 아무튼 그런 활동에 조금이나마 도움이 되도록 노력하겠습니다.

네, 원래 정상입니다. PSP 뿐만 아니라 PS3나 PS4 게임중에서도 최적화가 덜 된 게임이나 기기 성능을 뛰어넘은 퀄리티의 게임중에는 그렇게 게임중에 프레임이 떨어지는 게임들이 간혹 있습니다.
한가지만 여쭙겠습니다~~ 저도ips로 교체 하였는데 액정이 불량인거 종특인건지...
장시간 동일화면 켜둘시 일시적 잔상이 남던데 케이님도 그러신가요?
잔상은 시간이 지나면 또 완벽히 사라지긴 하는데 은근 거슬리네요...
IPS가 LCD라서 잔상은 안남는걸로 알고 있는데... 이상하네요. GBA SP IPS 개조하신 분들중에서 장시간 같은 화면 켜두는 테스트를 하실분은 아마도 안계실 듯한데요. 저도 물론 그렇게 할일이 없어서 잔상 여부는 알 수 없습니다.
@@DIYDrK 장시간이라는게 몇시간 이정도가 아니고 최대밝기로 한 10분? 정도만 고정시키고 흰배경이나 검은색 배경으로 가면 잔상? 기존화면에대한 자국이 존재합니다..
그리고 서서히 사라지면서 5분정도 지나면 또 완벽히 사라지구요...
대표적으로 디제이맥스 한 10분정도 하다가 홈버튼 눌러보면
디맥 건반내려오는 박스 테두리 라인이 그대로 남아있습니다 ㅎㅎㅎ

The PSP went to 3 upgrades The 1000,2000,3000 series, 1 Pocket version the PSP Go and 1 Standard version the PSP Street or known in other location as the E1000 series which doesn't include WLAN and Wi-Fi receiver
