Porsche 991.2, 911 S Owner long term review. Keep it or trade it?

  • I have owned my car for 4 years and 4 months and have close to 30,000 miles on it. Should I trade in my car and get another car or is it worth keeping? I share my thoughts in this video.

I agree with the "drive it every day". On the forums the members say "these cars are meant to be driven" but they only drive their cars 3k miles a year.

This was a relatable and enjoyable discussion.
Mine is just the Base model (2017 Porsche CPO Program). I chose it after realizing how much the 991.2 Base outperforms the 991.1 S, 4S and GTS models that I had been considering. And costing about the same. I’m fairly confident the whole 991.2 line of 911 will become recognized as the pinnacle of the whole series. And Porsche’s decision to go turbo on all (except GT3) models was brilliant. The 992 is compromised in a few significant ways, especially the mandated exhaust filters but also the extra weight and unimportant complexities (like the party trick) door handles that will likely cause maintenance issues for the long term owner. Only real improvement is the slightly wider fenders on all trims.
Thanks for tolerating my verbose post 😎🎩♠️

Great video! We have most of the same quirks with our jet black 991.2 C4S, but love driving it. Carmine red exterior was our second choice. Just completed a Softronic ECU tune that has provided incredible performance improvements. As if it needed more power. But it’s a rush.

Thank you for your personal take on these great cars. I share many of your opinions. My car is not a “clean and always spotless” example, simply because I’m frequently engaged with its use and as a result it lives life as a daily driven car. What more can you ask of a car than that and the things you’ve noted in the video? It’s just wonderful.

Thanks for sharing the video. I have owned a 991.1 S convertible for the last four years and initially I thought about selling it as it likely owned me. I was worried about messing it up with daily driving. I got over that after two years and now I feel like I'll never sell this car. I likely will add a second 911 (hardtop) or a Cayman.

Only losers will key people’s cars, doesn’t have to be a nice car.
I’ve had my car keyed as well and it was a regular entry level bmw (back in 2018). I took it as the person flattering me because whoever it was, they were obviously jealous of my success to the point they felt they needed to key my car.
Moving forward, as I progressed to owning sports cars, I always either wrapped my car or installed full PPF so even if jealous ppl keyed my cars, the paint isn’t scratched.

At 4:55, that white sculpture of the Porsches to the left of your shoulder is actually in the Porscheplatz round-about at the Porsche Museum if you have been to it. I think it is called "Inspiration 911". I was there in 2015 and again in 2019 for the 50th anniversary of the 917. As for using any car or a Porsche as a daily driver, when people buy me the car, then maybe they can tell me how to use it. You see owners in bumper to bumper city traffic. I'm there scratching my head thinking "what a waste" while I on the other hand am on a twisty backroad with my 993 or 991.1 GTS, both manuals of course. Also, when you are a tech as I am and not floating in a large salary, you tend to cherish what you have and look after it more than those that say "it is just a car".

    • @carminered3229

I sold my 991.2 4gts early this year. It is a fantastic car but wasn’t a daily driver for my comfort and back. The car handles the corners and straight lines equally well, though.

@@radumihaibadescu5089 . I beg to differ. I don't notice a difference at all other than the 4GTS sticks to the road better under hard acceleration. Harder to break the rear end loose on the 4 GTS.
