there is alot of contradicting information on these knock off mikuni carbs. some people are saying that the mikuni jets dont fit. do you happen to know which jets fit? keihin style?

Great video, just a few things. Filter side, air adjustments are on the side of the carb at the filter, not underneath at the filter . Only the fuel screw will be located under at manifold side. Hose at the bottom of carb bowl is the overflow, for when your float stays stuck open so that you dont flood your engine.. BUT still very informative, hell yeah 🤘

First off, thank you for the content, amazing help. Did you ever figure out the needle position? Everything here was spot on, but I picked up from a different video that the clip position needed to be at the lowest (richest) position, not the highest position. I made the change in clip position and it’s great. I’m not even sure I’ll take it off again to install the extended mixture screw that’s on its way. Thanks again.

did you raising the clip fix your bog in 3rd and 4th? I'm having the same issue when in 3rd and fourth and snap the throttle it bogs for a bit and then catches up and takes off. My fuel/air screw is 2 turns out and my needle clip is on the highest notch. cheers

Great help mate. The problem I have is when I’m taking off front standstill it’s really boggy (wants to stalls so have to give it a lot more revs to stop it) and when your cruising and try to accelerate it’s spluttery but once is gets going it’s fine and completely normal. Just seems to be lower end. Any advice mate?
@@AaronsEnduro I’d say spark plug looked dry more than anything. The bike also pops like crazy and loud when you decelerate. Also some flames sometimes too. Hope that helps more
What is this “pod” you speak of? If you’re asking if you should use the original air filter , thatd be a no. You definitely want to run a good UNI 2 stage foam filter

Hey man, random question. I just got an exhaust plug today for my 2010 yz 450f. I put the plug in and forgot about it and tried to kickstart it. The bike wouldn’t start and noticed there was less compression as well as a sound that sounded like air was being sucked. I pulled the exhaust plug out and it fired right up but I’m worried I may have messed up something internal by doing that. What’s your thoughts?
So living at 800 ft above sea level.. My Replica VM22 came with 95 main jet and 38 pilot which I tried with the screw 2 turns out, was sputtery and would cut out at 0 to 1/ throttle then go great until with warmed up then cut out at any throttle position acted like it was lean, pulled the plug and sure enough it was, thinking Im gonna have to try a bigger pilot and one or two sizes up on the main.
What’s up brother, recently installed a new carb onto my Apollo. Started first kick then died and wouldn’t want to stay on anymore. Fuel comes out of the overflow line as soon as it gets gas. What should I do? Thanks
@@AaronsEnduro I used players to force the cap to unscrew, it broke the threads and I got it off and installed my new one. Kinda sad tho that I had to break the old one, it was brand new and in perfect condition abs now it’s broken
did the exact setting for the air screw and needle for throttle fix the bogging or did you also have to adjust the jets. I was just wondering because I am a noob and wanted to use the exact settings you used for your bike.
Okay so, note this: you cannot copy jets from someone else(because sea level changes what jets you need) (im at 0ft sea level) , therefore as well, the needle placement will be particular to what jetting you have for when you want the throttle to open how much
Db14 110cc semi. What’s the best way for adjusting clutch? Everytime I go into first the bike takes off instantly without me giving gas & when I do give gas it’s takes off instantly instead of revving a little then going.

I live in Boston MA area I’m at sea level I have this same carb I did 2 turns out on the bottom fuel screw and needle adjustment I believe I have 125 jet in … so I have 2 questions is the 125 jet too big and what did you adjust the side idle screw to ? The stock cone filter IS JUNK!! Do not use it! The difference between the stock cone vs a good filter is that the cones filter screen with way too big and lets too large or debris through it! I have a UNI Filter and filter oil link in the video description
I have gas coming out of the bottom line on my Mikuni. Any thoughts on a fix? I sprayed the inside with carb cleaner and adjusted fuel mixture screw to two turns. I also adjusted the pin like you demonstrated.
Try opening the bowl drain and then closing it after it drains. It can be a try and repeat task to clear it out. I had to clean my carb like 8 times when the float was stuck

Sorry to ask so many questions Aaron. Just picked up the UNI filter... seems to get really close to the exhaust. I noticed that @15:29 in this video, you have a chunk taken out of one side of your foam... is that because of the same issue with the exhaust? I have two Apollo's and was debating moving away from the foam filters because they are right up to the exhaust, unlike the SSR which is off to the side. Thanks in advance...
Hey brotha, you can always ask questions on this channel! Yes that chunck is missing from my filter from the exhaust burning it. You can buy the turned elbow for your bike and itll point like the ssr to the side. Ive sinced heat wrapped the exhaust which has alleviated the burning issue
@@AaronsEnduro I bought the angled one that you posted... still pretty close and takes up a lot of space. But, I was considering heat wrapping anyways since my bike was missing the shield when I bought it. I'm assuming foam is still the better option over the pleated ones I'm seeing out there?
The cone filters suck ballss, 2 stage foam with the exhaust wraps is the way to go. Note when u do the wrap and it gets wet itll smoke off the exhaust ( which doesnt bother me)
Thank you for posting this makuni info because as a I watched this and started calculating what I needed to comment on as I heard the you improvising (which can be good as long as it’s not in an instructional video) giving the wrong advise about the needle settings and mid gear ⚙️ power. I didn’t want to come off like a douche bag that people tend to sound like when the heat something that might even be the slightest degree off the mark. But you posted a miluni manual which is where everyone should start. And then start learning about carb jetting and relying less on gas/air/idol screws. Cause every 1.5-2 turns a new jet should be used either up or down. as long as people know some golden rules. Which are universal like starting points. How to tell the difference between lean and rich mixtures and how to solve them along with bogging down and flat spots.. but read the manuel and if that doesn’t help, trial and error. Just don’t run it too lean. So check the spark plug every once in a while, too light to lean, too dark well that’s cause there’s to much gas that’s why you’re smokin up.

I'm guessing inside the carb...is this dangerous or would it harm the bike I drop the bike twice its basically new I had the bike 1 month an only rode it four times I willey up an fell both times didn't know these bikes have so much torque I'm new to riding so the bike runs ok bogs sometimes but I notice that the hoes sometimes leaks gas an my gas filter fill up with gasoline now ..it didn't fill up the first ride I took but now the gas filter stay pretty full so I'm just making sure all this is normal or no.. it still starts an run ..an thanks for replying Aaron
You’re referencing the metal cap with the cable ( and the cap just keeps spinning right?) on the stock carb there is a little brass pin you need to drill out to remove it
Aaron Greenway Thanks great steps but now I was trying to change my clutch lever and ended up disconnecting my clutch cable from the the little lever that actives the clutch wat should I do ⁉️ I need to my the clutch cable long enough to reach the little metal thing again
Delete the air/oil separator, and run the section coming from the engine down the back of the engine. Do not block it off! Its the crankcase vent for releasing crankcase pressure
The filter oil Goes onto the air filter. Its completely separate from the engine oil . The reason youll blow ur bike up without it is the foam filters are supposed to have filter oil applied to be able to fully entrap dirt particals
If you’re referencing the tube at the bottom of the carb, thats the carb overflow. Its designed to pour gas out if the carb is overfilling with gas in the carb bowl. You may have a sticking float, or a cracked float etc.

My pitbike runs fine revs fine until I would say 15 mins of riding it starts to bog when I accelerate to open throttle but if u keep it open throttled it just bogs it doesn’t die carbs clean been through that bought a new carb and air filter and still same results
@@AaronsEnduro their not much I can do mate as the bowl screws are rounded and doesn’t come loose so been using my stock one but it’s same issue with that and I’ve went over the full thing from cleaning jets to adjusting the bowl to the right way so that’s how I know it’s not my carb with the rounded screws
Hi Aaron, do you have some kind of "clip" to hold the throttle cable on top of the carb, where the throttle cable enter the carburetor because mine tend to get out when the throttle is fully close or maybe I just need a new cable?
This is too long ago that I honestly dont remember. Id say yea theres a clip usually or where the throttle cable locks in the the throttle slide so it cant slip out
The fake ones seem to be hit or miss, some people run them and they’re just fine, some get super defective ones. I myself got the genuine one just because i wanted to know what i had was good and go ride
Hey dude do you know where I can get the carb gasket for the vm24 round slide? I swapped my stock carb and used the stock gasket and it’s too small for the carb. I believe the gasket I need is 48 mm hole to hole
A rich mixture would do that! Its possible you just need to adjust the clip position on the throttle slide needle tho! (That controls fuel mixture based on throttle input)

Im still using my mikuni carb(even after the 150 swap) the stock one i gave to another friend. Since i started using the mikuni ive never swapped to anything else
@@AaronsEnduro oh nice i actually switched back to the stock one, but moved my pin 1 click up. I actually had allot of problems with that carb. Even after it was fine tuned randomly my rpms would sky to sky rocket real high. I just got tired of carrying a screw driver. Maybe I got a defective one 😂
Change your slide position (the needle in the top of the carb) it will change how soon it lets full air flow pass through. I bet its not set to the right level and is chocking out the bike

For me it was 2nd clip from the top. But this also depends on your elevation

Just an fyi you should always shut the gas off and let the carb burn remaining fuel in the line. Doing this will extend carb life.

It vents to the ground! Theres a hose clamp on the backside of the engine casing already there for when you put in the aftermarket carb!

Correct! Within a half a turn in or out from there should be ideal fuel settings if you have the correct sized carb

Either fuel screw or idle jet. Check the colour of your spark plug

Was the plug black,brown or white at the tip

It should look like a perfect golden brown roasted marshmallow. Black indicates the mixture is too rich (too much fuel) which will cause bogging
I was able to get needle nose pliers and remove the brass notch on the stock cap instead of cutting or drilling it out. Its a screw

It was a poorly executed air filter vent tube from the engine for the oil blow by. You just remove the line from the carb and vent to atmosphere

Keep a tube on a tranny that runs so down the back of the engine

Its fine. If it runs now its fine. It wouldnt run with it in because the exhaust gas’s can’t escape. No damage should be done

That means the float is set wrong and is getting too much fuel. Google “setting carb float”

did the exact setting for the air screw and needle for throttle fix the bogging or did you also have to adjust the jets. I was just wondering because I am a noob and wanted to use the exact settings you used for your bike.
Okay so, note this: you cannot copy jets from someone else(because sea level changes what jets you need) (im at 0ft sea level) , therefore as well, the needle placement will be particular to what jetting you have for when you want the throttle to open how much

Db14 110cc semi. What’s the best way for adjusting clutch? Everytime I go into first the bike takes off instantly without me giving gas & when I do give gas it’s takes off instantly instead of revving a little then going.
What did you do with the tube that connects to back of the stock air filter? And did you have to tune the bike after you changed filters

If the bike bogs, lean it out. If it’s popping or cutting out its lean so you need to richen it

I live in Boston MA area I’m at sea level I have this same carb I did 2 turns out on the bottom fuel screw and needle adjustment I believe I have 125 jet in … so I have 2 questions is the 125 jet too big and what did you adjust the side idle screw to ? Currently I’m only going about 47-52 top and it boobs in 3rd and 4th gear when quarter to half throttle… please let me know thanks I have grom clone fuerza icebear love it

The stock cone filter IS JUNK!! Do not use it! The difference between the stock cone vs a good filter is that the cones filter screen with way too big and lets too large or debris through it! I have a UNI Filter and filter oil link in the video description
I have gas coming out of the bottom line on my Mikuni. Any thoughts on a fix? I sprayed the inside with carb cleaner and adjusted fuel mixture screw to two turns. I also adjusted the pin like you demonstrated.
Thats the float getting stuck. Either debris in your float or something catching the float up
Try opening the bowl drain and then closing it after it drains. It can be a try and repeat task to clear it out. I had to clean my carb like 8 times when the float was stuck

Two ways
1, wedge the filter to the side
2, buy the angled air filter

Sorry to ask so many questions Aaron. Just picked up the UNI filter... seems to get really close to the exhaust. I noticed that @15:29 in this video, you have a chunk taken out of one side of your foam... is that because of the same issue with the exhaust? I have two Apollo's and was debating moving away from the foam filters because they are right up to the exhaust, unlike the SSR which is off to the side.

Hey brotha, you can always ask questions on this channel! Yes that chunck is missing from my filter from the exhaust burning it. You can buy the turned elbow for your bike and itll point like the ssr to the side. Ive sinced heat wrapped the exhaust which has alleviated the burning issue

@@AaronsEnduro I bought the angled one that you posted... still pretty close and takes up a lot of space. But, I was considering heat wrapping anyways since my bike was missing the shield when I bought it. I'm assuming foam is still the better option over the pleated ones I'm seeing out there?
The cone filters suck ballss, 2 stage foam with the exhaust wraps is the way to go. Note when u do the wrap and it gets wet itll smoke off the exhaust ( which doesnt bother me)
Thank you for posting this makuni info because as a I watched this and started calculating what I needed to comment on as I heard the you improvising (which can be good as long as it’s not in an instructional video) giving the wrong advise about the needle settings and mid gear ⚙️ power. I didn’t want to come off like a douche bag that people tend to sound like when the heat something that might even be the slightest degree off the mark. But you posted a miluni manual which is where everyone should start. And then start learning about carb jetting and relying less on gas/air/idol screws. Cause every 1.5-2 turns a new jet should be used either up or down. as long as people know some golden rules. Which are universal like starting points. How to tell the difference between lean and rich mixtures and how to solve them along with bogging down and flat spots.. but read the manuel and if that doesn’t help, trial and error. Just don’t run it too lean. So check the spark plug every once in a while, too light to lean, too dark well that’s cause there’s to much gas that’s why you’re smokin up.

Mine came with a white plastic washer looking thing. I know it goes on the needle, but does it go below or on top of the actual needle washer?

@@AaronsEnduro I was gonna look at the stock carb that came with the bike but just now noticed the stupid bowl came riveted to the upper portion of the carb so I can't even open it. lol.Guess they didn't want anyone messing with it.
Thats why we all replace the junk stock carbs! They dont want ya opening it up
How do you tell if the choke is on or off on that bike
If you really want to know 100% take the rubber intake off the carb and see which way the butterfly valve moves. When its open the choke is off

Larry McCoy sounds like your carb float may be getting stuck, which would result in the carb bowl overflowing with fuel

Definetly a stuck float. Google search is best way for you to understand what it is. Not sure how to describe it via text

The bottom 'vent hose' is your overflow, make sure it's routed correctly and not dumping fuel over your motor 👍

You’re referencing the metal cap with the cable ( and the cap just keeps spinning right?) on the stock carb there is a little brass pin you need to drill out to remove it
Spin the cap around till you see it ( on the top of the carb)
Aaron Greenway Thanks great steps but now I was trying to change my clutch lever and ended up disconnecting my clutch cable from the the little lever that actives the clutch wat should I do ⁉️ I need to my the clutch cable long enough to reach the little metal thing again

Delete the air/oil separator, and run the section coming from the engine down the back of the engine. Do not block it off! Its the crankcase vent for releasing crankcase pressure

Goes onto the air filter. Its completely separate from the engine oil . The reason youll blow ur bike up without it is the foam filters are supposed to have filter oil applied to be able to fully entrap dirt particals

Lower the idle with the idle screw on the right side of the bike

Gas is coming out of the little oxygen tube , how can I fix that ?
If you’re referencing the tube at the bottom of the carb, thats the carb overflow. Its designed to pour gas out if the carb is overfilling with gas in the carb bowl. You may have a sticking float, or a cracked float etc.

hey another question, my air filter has a tube on the right side that goes to the back of the bike, do I just remove the air filter and the tube?

My pitbike runs fine revs fine until I would say 15 mins of riding it starts to bog when I accelerate to open throttle but if u keep it open throttled it just bogs it doesn’t die carbs clean been through that bought a new carb and air filter and still same results
Not really too sure on that one. Possibly a float issue? Definitely some sort of fueling issue

Id start with checking over the current carb you have to try and isolate the issue. (So you know what your issue is)
@@AaronsEnduro their not much I can do mate as the bowl screws are rounded and doesn’t come loose so been using my stock one but it’s same issue with that and I’ve went over the full thing from cleaning jets to adjusting the bowl to the right way so that’s how I know it’s not my carb with the rounded screws

It connects to the oil/air separator which most people delete (myself included) and the you vent the tube coming from the engine side to the ground

Theres a clip in the back of the engine from factory to slip the tube into, then cut it to size

Hi Aaron, do you have some kind of "clip" to hold the throttle cable on top of the carb, where the throttle cable enter the carburetor because mine tend to get out when the throttle is fully close or maybe I just need a new cable?
This is too long ago that I honestly dont remember. Id say yea theres a clip usually or where the throttle cable locks in the the throttle slide so it cant slip out

Hey dude do you know where I can get the carb gasket for the vm24 round slide? I swapped my stock carb and used the stock gasket and it’s too small for the carb. I believe the gasket I need is 48 mm hole to hole

A rich mixture would do that! Its possible you just need to adjust the clip position on the throttle slide needle tho! (That controls fuel mixture based on throttle input)

If 1st and second seem to have no hesitation or stuttering id believe your needle clip position is what u should start with moving
If the plug is black you definitely have too much fuel. It should look golden brown like a roasted marshmallow
Id take a 1/8th turn of fuel out. Then if its still bad, try the needle adjustment
Are you still using this carb or did you switch back to the stock one I saw in ur other video it wasn't on the bike
Im still using my mikuni carb(even after the 150 swap) the stock one i gave to another friend. Since i started using the mikuni ive never swapped to anything else
@@AaronsEnduro oh nice i actually switched back to the stock one, but moved my pin 1 click up. I actually had allot of problems with that carb. Even after it was fine tuned randomly my rpms would sky to sky rocket real high. I just got tired of carrying a screw driver. Maybe I got a defective one 😂

The cord that is connected to my original card filter where does it go since this carb has no spot for it
You ditch it all together!
Then run the tube that goes from the engine to the ground (its your oil breather tube)
Those are overflow hoses no breather tubes, if your card if flooded it will dump out of that hose

Change your slide position (the needle in the top of the carb) it will change how soon it lets full air flow pass through. I bet its not set to the right level and is chocking out the bike

Deleted it. Then the hose that comes from the engine, runs to the ground off the back side of the engine casing.
@@AaronsEnduro thanks dude. Hose just hangs down like carb hose breather? I put mikuni on my rfz and found there was a rivet so i drilled it out and swapped carbs. Runs better now 🤘🏻
