Thanks for the comments! Here are a couple of additional points that were brought up: If you are running dual wield on both bars, typically infused will be on both of your back bar weapons with weapon damage + either poison or flame. Then poison or flame (whichever you didn't use) on the front bar alongside a shock glyph. The 4th glyph here doesn't really matter too much, so w/e you think works best for your setup. Blade Cloak only ticks every 2s, which does time poorly with the Weapon dmg enchantment, as it will attempt to refresh it at 6s instead of 5s. Still better to have it than not, if you are running Dual Wield on your back bar. The 2s timing is not ideal, and hopefully ZOS can address that at some point. Shock enchant for lightning heavy builds can be nice for the concussed > off-balance combo of concussed is not present from a group mate. If running DW backbar and 2H front bar. Would it be better to run Poison/Flame on Backbar and Weapon Damage front when using Blade cloak? And just deal with the cooldown on the front bar, and always have Poison/Flame dots?
there is almost no reason to run 2x dual wield, even if you use arena weapons, tho I wish this garbage game would allow more innovative builds rather than brainless meta builds in which case 2x dual wield might work
If I run DW on both bars, will deadly cloak on the back bar proc the enchants from both bars? Or will I then be relegated to light attacks for the front bar enchantments?
Thank you for explaining why flame & poison glyphs are most commonly used on the front bar, I had been wondering even though I've been playing for for years! It would really confuse me when these glyphs were used on classes not fire/poison based. Good video!
This is great information, particularly the analysis of how and why the weapon enchantments affect overall dps. The only thing missing was a discussion about how setups might differ based on type of content ie solo/group pve, pvp (bg, Cyrodill, Imperial City, etc). That being said, I would rate this as a "must watch" for anyone working on their setup.
Very good reference video, thanks ! A piece of information I was looking for and did not find was the absorb stamina enchant and sundered status effects in conjunction with the Ravager Set.
Of note, Blade cloak only ticks every 2 seconds, unlike the rest of the abilities, which interacts poorly with with having twice as many enchants from Dual Wield.
Dude, this really did the trick for me. Thank u so very much for taking all the time u did to thoroughly explain this. Cant thank u enough. You always come thru.
I’m using one bar oak build, orders and sergeants. Bloodthirsty on jewlerry. I mostly play PVE so questions are do I use flame or lightning enchantment ion my precise light staff? For my monster garment do I got for additional pen or additional crit
Your videos break things down so well! I've become a better and more knowledgeable player since subscribing to you, Skinny. You've opened my mind to how to properly play this game.
I imagine this explanation will help a lot of ESO players. Also maybe worth mentioning is the fact that the amount of damage Burning & Poisoned deal per-tic is based on a combination of two stats. For Burning it's based on Weapon & Spell Damage and Max Magicka. For Poisoned it's based on Weapon & Spell Damage and Max Stamina. So, if you go heavier on one stat than the other, you'll probably see these status effects ticking for slightly different amounts in Combat Metrics (or similar addons).
@@skinnycheeks That info came from UESP's Online:Combat page. Just add #Burning or #Poisoned to that page's URL to jump down to the specific entries, if you're interested. But I don't insist it's accurate/up-to-date. It's a big site, run by TES fans; not ZOS employees.. So, imo, it's fine if it's not 100% perfect in real time. :P P.S. I tried to include links, for convenience, but I guess those aren't allowed.. Oh well though..
Generally speaking, it's a lot cheaper to buy kuta ruins Den to buy constructed glyphs, so if you're planning on enchanting lots of things for a long time it's a better investment to level up the enchanting skill and just buy kuta
Thanks, I was a bit confused when videos and pics just a bit over a year ago show jewelry glyphs that increase only wepon or spell damage but couldn't find those glyphs anywhere and no mention about this change online, now the glyph boosts both which is sad imo
One of the things that always confused me is how an enchantment's quality works. For example, if I have an item that dropped in purple, and I upgrade it to gold, does the enchantment ALSO automatically upgrade from purple to gold?
Shock is the best weapon damage enchant on 2H/bow. 5% more damage ie minor invulnerability. Unfortunately double dot potions have more value ie BIS. Great video.
Okay, so I am still struggling to understand charged. Why would I choose charged on my off-hand over precise? Especially when crit is so valuable to some builds. What's the damage difference?
Damage difference is small. But for single target dmg, the additional status effect damage you get from an off hand with charged generally outweighs the extra dmg from precise’s 3.6% crit chance. If aoe is your priority then often precise is still better. This is mostly due to the double enchants on dw and so for single target, that charged off hand enables a lot of extra poisoned and burning
@@skinnycheeks Gotcha. That's why I see it on so many parses. Precise seems more realistic for content in most scenarios. Rarely do we get to fight one boss at a time
Ty, very nice guide. Would love to see an extended guide on glyphs / enchantments tho. I just recently learned the crusher glyph or weakening glyph are single target. But how is the target picked when there are multiple enemies being hit at once? Same for example when having a poison / flame glyph on the backbar wich is triggered by the weapon AoE skill - which target gets picked here - I doubt its multiple targets, or is it? Also it looks like on DW backbar you can't slot two times weapon DMG glyph cause they share the same cooldown. Is that right? What is recommended for glyphs / weapon traits for backbar DW? ... it's a shame the game doesn't explain stuff like this.
What exactly determines the enchantment damage number on the tooltip? I've noticed that all of my characters have varying numbers for seemingly no reason. They can vary anywhere from 2534 (the default, according to the wikis) to 3000 or so, but I can't figure out what exactly is increasing this number. A lot of my characters have similar stats and aren't using any gear or passives that would increase it, but then I also notice some characters that DO have passives that state they would increase flame/poison damage or status effects, but the tooltip doesn't even increase from 2534... Maybe the tooltips are just bugged...? It really has me confused, lol...
Weapon dmg for aoe. Shock for off balance if no one is applying concussed. Or flame for single target dmg if the enemy is already reliably concussed and you are getting off balance
doesn't matter. I just try to keep it consistent across my setups in case I need to mix and match so i typically do flame main hand and poison off-hand. but you can do the opposite if you want.
Good question! Generally weapon dmg and fire or poison on the back. Then for front, fire or poison, whichever isn’t on the back, and a shock glyph (or frost if warden). The 4th glyph really doesn’t matter much though, it won’t change your overall dmg much.
I run with a fairly coordinated group for HM trials as a brittle warden. I run two ice staves. Right now I'm running a poison glyph on my precise front bar and weapon and spell damage on my infused back bar. Would frost be better on front because of the passive?
depends how much poisoned you are already getting from the rest of your kit without the poisoned glyph. often with charged + sub assault you can get an okay amount
i am playing a magsorc with elemental weapons as my spammanle and no poison in my kit. would changing my main enchant from flame to poison increase my dps?
I was hoping to see a bit of discussion on the Disease glyph. Especially for the builds that already have a source of poison, like from Lethal arrow or Poison injection or Venom claw.
Disease decreases healing received and hp recovery through defile. In pve, that's not happening often. The only enemies that I know of that heal themselves are elite dremoras and the Voidmother from VH, which most likely are immune to defile. In pvp that's a different story.
@@brahmansam But it also deals instant damage, instead of applying the poisoned status effect; which *might* be redundant. I would have to see a number breakdown to know for sure if it's wasted.
@countdabulaTV but all the dmg glyphs deal instant damage. poison and disease and all those have the same upfront hit. poison just gets the dot and disease gets the heal debuff.

Can anyone tell me why one nirnhoned is optimal? I’ve always found that weird, why not 2 or precise
because it gets the full value on the mainhand, but the off-hand is much lower so the increase is very small from nirnhoned.
What about oakensoul 1-bar builds? Should I prioritize the wep/spell dmg glyph or the flame/poison glyph?( I'm a sorc so only have the 1 wep)
Weapon dmg for aoe. Shock for off balance if no one is applying concussed. Or flame for single target dmg if the enemy is already reliably concussed and you are getting off balance
As a warden I replace poison with Frost then?
What armor was that when he was making enchantments?

Think I'm confused on the armor glyphs, more stamina as a stamina build is more DPS? I planned on going just all health for more sustain
Yes your highest stat, stamina or magicka, will add to your damage. It’s about a 10.5 to 1 ratio with what weapon/spell dmg adds
I already have more stamina then mag as a stamina build so I should still add stamina glyphs on my armor instead of health then?
Excelent as usual.
Thanks!

I was on my EU account. Addons were off just to reduce distraction, especially for a newer player who might not understand what’s going on.
