@@skinnycheeks have always wanted that too. I want to start testing some of my own ideas and putting some stuff out there but would be nice to have some better tools especially for console. I’m not a hater of parses, like you said it teaches you how to do your rotations and stuff but I think they can be misleading. Mostly when it comes to transferring those builds into dungeon content as you likely have none of the buffs the trial dummy has making builds with no pen seem great but in reality you are likely under pen like 10k in a real dungeon group. Additionally things all the buffs stacked up like crit damage and damage done. If you are to Que up for a random dungeon group you likely have a tank in some ebon and drakes rush and a healer with hollow fang and maybe spc and that’s it, not to mention horn up time.
Great video lots of excellent information. I think it would be good if you could let players know what range of dps they should be aiming for when doing content ranging from normal dungeons to vet dlc dungeons and normal trials through to vet hm trials. We never hear anything from the developers about that - they only really comment when they think players dps is too high and they cut it back through nerfs.
This was a great, thanks alot. I recently realised how much time it takes to master the LA Weave, I mained tank from level 1 to 1000cp I had a guild friend who was probably the best dd I had ever seen his damage was always top every encounter no matter what class he played after I actually added him and noticed how much time he spent in his eso house (probably 70% of his play time) I then understood how much practice it takes to perfect a rotation and it wasn't just some people can and some people can't. It just takes time. 🙂
There are 2 more versions of trial dummies, Harrowing Reaper and Deadlands Harvester, they work identical to Iron Atro but their hitbox is slightly bigger, so if for some reason you use Mystic Orb on a dummy, it will do few more ticks as it passes through
you can actually hit all orb ticks on the iron atronach as well if you stand at just the right spot! sometimes you might see in my vids i have a furnishing or something on the ground, i'm usually marking where i need to stand haha. I think it is a bit easier on those to make that happen though. They also slowed down orb slightly for update 35 so that may be even easier now.
I've spent a lot of time in the past compiling all this information in a spreadsheet, but I just took a screenshot of yours because that is such a well-organized list! Thanks a lot!
Great video. The kind of basic dps information that ESO should be providing in a tutorial. Alas, we have to rely on you. Maybe on your second “advance” video you could add in bash weaving and times to take (or not) synergies. Explaining the different GCDs as well. Thank you!
I'm on Xbox. I don't know if this is a doctor on PC and PS, but one thing that can hurt your numbers is lag. When I would parse in a guild hall with all the decorations and crafting tables, some of my light attacks would not register. One thinge that helped a lot was setting up my dummy on a low populated base zone in an almost empty house.
I play on both xbox and pc, and can attest to the fact that good fps makes a noticeable difference in dps numbers. Even with the series x set to “performance mode,” I still see about 2-3k consistently higher numbers on pc.

You mentioned content being different from dps'ing but one thing I wanna add is some skills won't let you block/they make you drop block. If your doing something like sunspire and the tank says to block an attack from Navi but your using templar jabs, you won't block.
true. templars do run into this issue sometimes. you just have to unfortunately interrupt your spam sometimes and override it with a block since you can't block cast a channel or cast-time.
I'm on console. I do have access to the 21million dummy through a guild and the aetherial well is very handy to refill your ultimate between parses. In my own home I use the precursor dummy, from Clockwork City, just using light attacks to do the same job. Then I can parse on the 3 million skeleton from the master writ guy.

Skinny, will you please consider doing an oakensoul magplar video, or, even recommend gear/skills/cp slottables to go with it on a one bar? I don't have trial gear, and going mostly solo. Currently running 1 Slimecraw/Order/Deadly with Oaken Ring. I can barely hit 45k on a trial dummy even properly parsing the best I can. My Templar is about to go to the bone pile with this patch ...
The dummy practice that got me to a 125k dummy parse is what got me to multiple content parse records. It doesn't make you do well in content but it's the multiplying factor alongside your handling of the mechs. You cannot do better than (perfect mechs)*(perfect setup)*(your cleanest parse)
Informative video. It’s a shame that you have to explain to people that they cannot just expect to hit top damage numbers without putting in a little time and effort. I guess it’s just a product of the times in which we live.
For me, DPS is about 1/3rd of the amounts shown in the build rotation videos, compared to the 2/3rds you mention. I have 1800 CP and the non-perfected sets recommended in the builds improved to gold. I live in Australia so have high ping that can't be fixed. Do you think that might be a factor that DPS is so low? I have played ESO for 4 years.

Has anyone made a race / class / gear calculator for optimization ? Like plug in your class and race and what you're building for and you would get a list of possible gear combos from all possible gear.
So if I am using barbed trap, harpooner's wading kilt, and 6 medium pieces, I don't need fighting finesse or back stabber, right? And there is no need to use 7 medium body pieces on a trial dummy now that EC is added?
How does the medium armor spell/wep dmg weigh vs the 1% crit from light as far as dps increase. Right now I'm looking at being over crit dmg or over pen reguardless of which is chosen I just would like to know which provides the bigger benefit.
Why is it the numbers I get on the PTS dummy are always around 10K different than the numbers I get with an identical setup on the Live Server? Same sets, All Gold (even Jewelry), same traits and enchants on the sets, same skills, same passives, same Blue tree CP (over1,900 CP on Live), same 64 points in attributes. Every possible thing is identical. But after repeated testing (at least a dozen times yesterday alone) I always come out about an extra 10K dps on the PTS server this patch. I also took pics of the character screen showing all my Weap/spell dam, Max mag, crit chance, etc... And compared and they are identical with only a couple minor differences (I think I had roughly 400 extra mag for some reason on the Live server which should only increase my dps but that is the server I am getting almost 10K dps less on).
Maybe better performance on pts server? Only thing I can think of. Or you are doing something diff like medium weaving that got nuked for the live patch.
Hey Skinny! Hoping to finally jump back into ESO when the update comes out. The LA and 1sec GCD segment hit me hard cause I always come back and think ill be decent at it, but in reality I suck lol. 2 Question for you and your community, What magicka class seems to be good PVE wise and or fun. secondly, Is there any way to do a hybrid build with Bow/Destro Staff or that not recommendable (Was thinking heavy dot spec with magicka and my spammable would be snipe, PVE with Perfected Siroria / whatever to become a turret).
really all classes are viable. whatever you are enjoying the most. necros are always highly sought after for groups though. and yeah pretty much any weapon combo can work now
yeah for most content I'd probably just drop it on the boss. but like robert said you do still have a small window. might be worth it to just drop it on the boss though now. 🤷♂
so if you can reach that 30% crit cap that easily whats the point of using kilt on dummy? for example. if someone plays with stam pelar +backstabber ( or even without it) is there any use of having kilt on dummy?
just depends on your class really. some classes don't have 10% crit dmg built in. and yes mora's is nice. only bad thing is you don't have it leveled on the PTS templates.
PTS transmute free? i was on the PTS the first time and couldnt test much because i run out of transmutes. where is it free and where you get the gear showed on the screenshot?
You have to create a template character. They come with all that stuff in the bad. One of the boxes has a coffee than you can infinitely open for more transmutes

@@skinnycheeks I main a Z’en’s DK. I’ve tried standing between the legs, standing on one leg, up on the dummy, back from the dummy. I’ve turned off music, damage numbers, and used the skeleton polymorph. I even bought crown crates. The Atronach hates me.
If u can't get a decent Number because of a to slow or wrong delivert Rotation on a just Standing, not hitting back and without mechs tocdeal with, you will suck in actual Content. That's just it. It's a practise tool and everything needs practise. Yes, of course actual Content is different but If you are not sure about what u are doing on the Dummy, Imagine how effective you will be in between mechs lol On the other hand, beeing a great Dummy humper with Insane Numbers does not automaticly make you a super Player! Everything needs practise and it's as simple as this. People who Bitch about Dummy practise are mostely the ones who have to practise more and are unsatisfied with their numbers. And of course one has to blame somebody else instead of own lazyness (uhhh this mean Endgamers) or something (meeeh the Dummy is not Content). 🙄🙄 Thanks for the Explanation Skinny!! 😘😘
Best tool toxics use against people I truly enjoy practicing my ass of on console with meta gear/ specifically your full builds golden and traited out to never break 75 k so I can be told I'm not good enough to every be a part of a veteran trial group. Thanks ESO for allowing the average players to get fkd by all the toxics that run your content 👏 👍 👌 and just like any of your videos skinny nothing useful came from this video for me. I'd like to add 75 k is the lowest end I've seen accepted to these toxic trial groups

I have been curious what a good way to test for dungeons would be. Not a huge fan of trials and I’m on console. Do we have a dummy with less buffs?

thanks for sharing. I only play on pc but this makes sense. High ping is not too bad to deal with but inconsistent lag is another story

Imagine if zos had an ingame guide on that since it is important for trials .
they need a completely revamped tutorial system in my opinion. one that goes well beyond just starting the game.
There is no tank or healer tutorial either.

Warden also has new penetration passive(well passive skill change) if you want to included that or not in your penetration chart

depends how bad the performance is. it shouldn't impact your ability to uphold a rotation though unless it got really bad.

trap, kilt and 6 medium and yes you'll be at cap. i like 6 medium 1 light cause it lets me hit pen cap too, and activates my undaunted passives more.

Is precasting the Atro wise after the Patch? It last only 15 sec and maybe its better to cast it after you cast Prey?
Atro takes like 1s to start beaming, you should have time to cast Prey right after it lands

What about Elemental Drain for Major Breach since it doesn't use resources and even has Minor Magickasteal?

Kilt is the only source of crit damage you would need, If not that then thrassian.

Maybe just take a 6m Skeleton Dummy, that provides nothing, to make sure you are on the same buff/debuff lvl as anyone else?
For solo testing sure. For testing for group play, the 21m dummy is far superior for comparisons

So with EC not reading on the dummy, is there a new crit dmg cap to look for like 110% instead of 125%
Ec is a debuff so it doesn’t show up on your stats. Same as brittle. But if you are using cmx (add-on) it is updated to show it.
