I remember finding this way back after Streets of Rage and it was the first time i ever went back to an older console for a while. Good times. I really liked this game back in the day.

Ultra is Konami. It's just a shell company they used to get around Nintendo's max # of games a 3rd party company could release each year.
This is the best nes game ever in my opinion, so many memories playin this in school.

Had this game as a kid, revisit it on the emulators every few years. Great soundtrack but NES tough, beat it legit once in my life
I remember watching this show back in the day. It was funny, kind of like WWF meets roller derby. They are on TH-cam, I recommend them haha.

The first "angry review" I ever watched on youtube was on this game back in 2006.
The game has certainly aged a lot better than that video, I still come back to Rollergames from time to time, it's a pretty solid title.

Have you guys ever seen the pixel art in truclarity? Look up X-Men uncensored Super Nintendo energetic fist...... I for one do not regret this new experience brought to my old games again. Thanks Mike for keeping the camaraderie amongst Gamers alive .

I bought this game 8 years ago at a thrift store for like a couple of bucks and I never seen it before.
I never heard of this game. If you blindfolded me and turned this on, I would’ve thought it was a hack of TMNT or Contra.
Yeah, it's got that Konami style. Ultra was a subsidiary of Konami so they could get around Nintendo's yearly game release limit.

on a side note... I remember the announcers used to say "and remember, WAR is a 3 letter word" I still have this cartridge from back in the day.
It's always weird hearing these perspectives on modern game making vs. old.
The controller issue alone is a huge pain in the ass, especially working by yourself. DS4 has a different input map vs. generic 360 (the standard), putting my 8bitdo in Switch or Android mode gives it a totally different map. The buttons have different labels and orders so I need internal mechanisms to shift those around and maybe create specific graphical assets for them. Given the demand to plug/unplug swap at any time you mentioned I need to be be able to tell that this has happened without redundant checks clogging up performance etc. and also apply all needed changes across the board on a whim. Depending on what I'm working in (Unreal, Unity, Game Maker, Construct, whatever) I might need to use totally different commands for Xinput or fall back to legacy joystick stuff that handles a bit differently. Using keys instead? That's whole other block of kind of redundant input commands that need to go in there, along with clear labeling making them distinct as keys, not gamepad buttons. Using keys *with* controller(s) connected? I need to be able to tell that's what's going on, even accounting for say, stick drift causing 'ghost' inputs and things like that. Did everything right mentioned above but the player expects to be able to use the mouse in a controller-driven retro style game for some reason? *big sigh*
Yes, ideally this stuff you handle and get right first; but indies are almost always focused specifically on what they want to do... ie making their super cool unique character have the blondest hair and yellowest boots ever. (The lesson being, know when you need technical help, don't feel you have to do everything yourself. This shit is hard.)
Back in the day, it was rough with all the severe technological limitations, sure; but your system had ONE controller standard... and probably someone on your team there specifically to take care of things like input handling.
I just traded in some ps2 games and picked this up like literally 2 two days ago. I rented it back in the day and remember it fondly. 😊

I actually looked online and couldn’t find it. It might be something you have to get in person. Maybe try eBay though

tears of the kingdom has to have some translation errors. I kept playing because I spent money on it and reached skyview tower, anyone who knows about unlocking that knows what I mean when I say it's complete convoluted bullshit.
this is how bullshit that is. you reach the tower and there is an npc at the door, he says that he can't open the door because he's feeling tired and hungry and talks about the cave where he eats mushrooms from at the bottom of the hill. so you go to the cave and have to break a ton of rocks down with a stone weapon or bombs to get through the cave. you pick up everything you can find in the cave then go back up the hill, talk to the bird guy again and he goes on again about being hungry and tired AND IN RED TEXT TALKS ABOUT THE MUSHROOMS HE EATS FROM THE CAVE. guess how you unlock the door? you don't, use acend in the cave to get into the tower from underground. what kind of bullshit is that. that's either bad translation or intentionally fucking people over. sorry if that's a spoiler but man.

The worst parts about Mike's streams is that he only does them 2-3 times a week instead of 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year, and they're only about 4 or so hours long each on average instead of 10 hours long.

@Mikematei TH-cam age-restricted my video game footage. They didn't need restrict me or anything I said but they didn't like how close I got the camera to the screen. I guess there is a distance at which it becomes suggestive? Like you're only allowed to look so closely at an object? Doesn't that sound silly to tell people they're not allowed to look closely at something. I'm not trying to spam you Mike but I'm sharing cuz I thought you'd get a kick out of it as well.

*sigh* Kinda sad to see that you replaced the link in your Games I've Beaten On Stream to this stream instead of the CRT stream where you beat it for the first time.
I admit I am contradictory myself in that regard since in the past I also sometimes proposed replacing an older version of a game you beat on stream with a newer one: Roger Rabbit (because the old one was from your beginner's period as a stream and was edited to boot) or Bart Vs. The Space Mutants (because the old one was essentially a playthrough video that was not on stream), for example. Then again, I don't want your Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde video from 2015 to be replace because I love it for the reaction at the end when you beat it ("I gotta tell James about this!").
Sorry for sounding like a "MMMMMMMMMUH, I don't like your links being changed, they should stay like this forever, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHH!!!". You do what you are in the mood for. And should you decide one day to also do Crisis Force on a video capture stream again, that is perfectly fine.
