It was still a gpu problem ( precisely told the drivers) corrupted the mbr , gpu drivers load at the time of os he changed the gpu after readjusting his windows booted

I had this EXACT same problem when I built my PC. It was driving me NUTS and what I found out is that the RAM, even at stock speeds, was just not getting enough power. The RAM was rated for 1.35v but the default settings were auto set to 1.15v and when I manually set it to 1.35v and BOOM it posts. I was ready to cry because I had just spent around $1000 and all my research suggested a CPU failure. Glad we both dug our feet in and said "WE NEED MORE POWER"
My new PC did boot, but when I tried to install Windows, it froze. (before, during or after putting in the activation code) In my case it was a bad motherboard BIOS. Once I got the motherboard flashed with a newer version, everything worked fine.
I should check my ram volt as well. Haven't think about that. What is your ram model to be exact? I'm using Gskill tridentz 3600mhz and I can't install windows on my newly built pc. It'll crash everytime.
@@OneBuckShort420 My ram is G.Skill Aegis rated for 3000mhz. Look online to see what voltage is listed for your ram and then manually put that voltage in the BIOS. If your system can get to bios, but for some reason cant load up windows, I wouldn't be surprised if this fixes it.

I wish people that ask us to fix their systems would watch this so they could get some idea how frustrating and difficult it can be to work out what the problem sometimes is.
I worked for an IT support company looking after 50+ SME's around central London, one of them had this HP server with a couple of RAID arrays in it that took 5mins to get through the BIOS and RAID card POST process, no-one could work out why it was taking so long, until one day I accidentally trod on the crappy old keyboard that had been plugged into it since forever - loud cracking noise, keyboard was kinda messed up. So I borrowed a USB keyboard from an old PowerMac G4, plugged that in, did the stuff on it I needed to, rebooted the system..... and it took like 45seconds to get through everything and boot. Yup, the USB comms chip in the keyboard was pissing off the BIOS every time it got to one of the numerous "Press X key to enter Y menu" that the BIOS and RAID cards were all throwing up throughout the boot sequence.

USB devices do weird stuff sometimes. I added a reset button to my PC and thought I broke the power button header because my PC wouldn't turn on. I spent about 45 minutes trying random things to see if it would turn on. It was a USB switching cable for my microphone with one into a console and one into my PC that made it not turn on.
I once spent 4 hours troubleshooting a customer's PC. Everything would take a few minutes to happen after any mouse click. Turned out to be a stuck key on his keyboard.

This video just helped me solve an issues I was having for over a year. I could not get my PC to install 1803 or later. After seeing the issue with the PC not booting without the OC, I decided to do a slight OC and now my PC is working with no problems. I've been having issues with my X99 and had been contemplating upgrading to X299. This Vid saved me some money. Voltages man who knew.
I like being extreme. I love to parachute from an airplane, skydiving, bungee jumping and updating BIOS during an electric storm.

Somehow it seems fitting that Jay's computer won't boot unless it's overclocked lol, it knows who it's dealing with.
Another explanation can be that the bios auto function didn't recognized the CPU correctly ( voltage and/or other parameters). Usually updating the uefi bios should be the first step especially since motherboards tend to have old versions installed.
Man. I follow alot of tech channels, and found yours yesterday because of you videogame room you did a few weeks ago. This is verrrrrry refreshing to see you not only explain how to fix the issues, but why, and how it is fixing the issue. That is the difference between good and great help / advice.

Honestly this is a great episode for beginners and intermediate PC owners, showing what different steps to take to get to know which component is making trouble, plus also showing which quick fixes migh work before replacing anything.
So I just did my Z390 Dark build today and this video literally saved me a *crap-ton* of headaches/anxiety I ended having this same exact problem. Luckily I saw this video! I decided to start building and I thought to myself that it wouldn't happen but it did.
I installed a new 9900KF in a new Z390 Dark with the stock bios that comes with it, it would lock up after posting cleanly (no random hardware beeps) so I did what Jay did and upped the voltage and set it to 5GHz all core just for the heck of it @1.3v VCore and it loaded in the media tool without locking up. So the theory in all this, new Z390 Dark boards cannot boot safely without a manual voltage input (or a bios flash to the most recent version resolving the issue and allows you to go passed post and load into windows/media creation tool) this means R0 Stepping 9900K CPU's which means exactly the 9900KS and 9900KF. This illustrates why IT support is a seriously under appreciated career. Imagine the time many mens have faced wasted for 10's of hours to find out 1 dip switch or option in software fixes the problem. Then imagine trying to bill someone for 10 hours when it took 10 seconds to fix the problem.
But as a user, devices must be taken care of, like your car that must change parts and fluids. Computers still have maintenances too, file junk cleaning, update apps and operating systems, defragment the HDDs or optimize the SSDs, and lastly, clean the devices externally

One time I was putting my PC back together after a good clean out including thermal paste on CPU etc and after it all was put back together it wouldn't boot as in a picture, after going through all the steps is the 6 pin PCI-E power connector attached, RAM etc I found a cat hair in the PCI-E slot just randomly blew in there when cleaning and once removed it worked fine

This is the exact video that helped me run my system. It was a new build and for some reason, when I try to boot windows installer it shuts down. After basically increasing the supplied power to the entire build, I never crashed again. in all honesty, if this didn't pop up on my feed as I was looking for trouble shooting guieds, I don't think my PC would be working as it dose now. Thanks for putting this out. It really helped

One correction to make, Jay: Bios flash can be damaging if you do everything correctly but your MOBO company pushed out a BIOS update that jacks up your voltages and causes thermal shutdown on boot... Of course, I won't mention Any SUch nameS here, but it's funny how their update disappeared after only 2 days last summer!

Seriously.... I'm dealing with a stupid issue right now and just hoping I randomly find a video that points me in a new direction.
2080 Ti OC, i7 6700k, ASUS Z79 mobo. Randomly while playing most games and nearly immediately in Modern Warfare, the computer turns off. No blue screens, no warning just POOF.... I can run Heaven for half an hour; no issues. I can run CPU-z for half an hour; no issues. Power supply is fine. Disabling Ray Tracing in MW and scaling down the graphics settings delays the issue, but it will happen eventually. I kinda gave up and just game on my laptop now.
One of the thing I love about you is that you arent affraid to try things that other people would absolutely cringe at. Another thing, is that I love how funny you are, you are like a child disguised as an adult but you can have your serious moments sometimes. Overall, I love the content you put out and you were actually the first channel I found when I got into pc stuff. I've been subscribed for about 2 and a half years now and I still love the content. Keep it up Jay!

@JayzTwoCents I know you dont read this but i have to say thank you. You mentioned something very interesting in this video. You said there are peripherals they are can cause longer boot times. So it was so interesting that i tested it by myself. I unplugged some things and booted the pc with a Stopwatch. The last thing i unplugged was my 360 pad and guess what. It gave me 8 ( EIGHT) seconds of boot time. It was unbelievable so i tested it more times and it was really true. 360 Pad plugged in = boottime 30 second. Plugged out = 22 seconds. So i have to say thank you for this unwanted advise :)

My most recent hardware failure was the result of a bump. I bumped the case. It wasn't even a hard bump, the case didn't get knocked over or anything like that. Hell, it didn't even rock. So, I opened it up and put it down on its back to reseat my RAM, tried to boot, and got a RAM beep code. Which confused me, so I decided to try reseating everything. Still got the beep code, no post. Recently, I'd gotten a new PSU, so I stood it all up, took the back off, undid all my cable management, unplugged it all, plugged it back in, tried to boot it, and once again, RAM beep code, no post.
And then I realised I forgot one thing, one thing that I never even thought of - my M.2 SSD. So, I laid the case back down (without replacing the back cover or retying cables - this'll come up in a bit). I reseated the SSD, and it booted. YAY!
So I stood the case up, retied my cables, and put the back cover back on. Everything in its place, except the front cover, I tried another boot with it standing up. This time, I got a timing beep code, no post. Needless to say, after clearing CMOS and three hours of being stumped, I had no idea what was going on. Until my housemate came along and decided to join his brain to mine. He took the back cover off, and there's a hole there where you can see the circuitry behind the CPU and RAM, and lo, there was one of the problems. A big chunk of fluff had migrated from my case's rear cover into the back of the motherboard, where it was causing a short on the RAM. With that removed, and the back cover still off, we tried booting it again, and it worked.
But then, after I put the rear cover back on, it once again failed to post. My housemate had commented on how much flex my motherboard had after trying to reseat the RAM himself at one point, and then it clicked - my cable management might be a bit shit. The space between rear cover and the plating that the motherboard is mounted on was no enough for the thickness in my cable management, and with the back cover on, it was pushing against the plate with enough pressure to flex the motherboard. So, I redid my cable management, made sure there was no short, and presto, no issues. My PC has run completely fine with zero issues ever since. I am, however, on the market for a new case and PSU now, because the one I got turned out to be a bit budget, and has developed a coil whine (It's a CX650M - in hindsight, I should have expected the coil whine), and the case I'm using is very old, like, 2013 old. There's nothing wrong with it, I've just decided I want a new one, hopefully one with better options for cable management, and a bit more space in the back for it.
Anyway, tl;dr - bump caused PC to freeze; attempted to reboot immediately but wouldn't post; reseating M.2 fixed it, as apparently it came loose with a very small bump; problems continued due to PEBKAC, which was eventually solved after about 3-4 hours. Fortunately, the short didn't cause any board damage. It's a good board with shielding against that sort of stuff. B350-F, oldy but a goldy. As soon as it detects the short, it shuts down the power to those circuits, which hopefully protects against damage.

Man same shit happened to me on recent build except my problem was not enough room for the cables was putting alot of flex on the hard drives cables. The slightest bump would cause a freeze. Took the back panel off and gave it a decent smack, zero issues. Now my only problem is the EVGA PSU (supernova 750 G+) fan is always on and drives me nuts. I've been informed by the manufacturer that it should always be running. No eco mode. Coming from a silent PSU on my last build, this one drives me up a wall. It's probably the worst feeling spending 1000 to 2000 dollars on a build and having issues. Glad you fixed yours.
@@easley421 can I recommend a corsair RMx PSU? There's no noise. Ever. I got a new RM750x and there's not a hint of fan noise or coil whine from it ever, under any load. And I don't know what the price would be for it in your country, but here in Australia, it's only $209 for the 750 and it's worth every penny. Probably more.
For the record, when it comes to power supplies, I never touch anything other than Corsair and Thermaltake. ALTHOUGH, ASUS have some new ROG STRIX models that look like they might be worth checking out, so I'm going to do that, and see how one goes. But, I couldn't recommend it without testing it first.
@@remielpollard787 that's the exact one I'm looking to get. Sucks that I can't get a refund on the one I have. My previous build had a Corsair in it. I fucked up and thought maybe EVGA would be of better quality. Though it has very good build quality, the fan always running is a deal breaker. I live in the states so pretty much cut the price of everything in half and that's the cost.

Oddly enough, I knew about 60 seconds into this video exactly what the issue was. I recently had to fix a near identical issue for a friend who was having constant BSOD's, and for weeks he couldn't figure it out. Ended up being that the voltage on the 9900 was too low. Increased it literally 0.1v, and fixed. Crazy.
You went above and beyond trying to troubleshoot. I've had the same issue with my last build. EVGA Mobo bios had issues with 3200 ddr4. Updated bios fixed it. Such a headache. I went through everything. Sometimes the machine wouldn't post AT ALL. Glad you got it sorted out and gave your audience some good troubleshooting tips along the way.
It's a BIOS fault. I had a similar issue with my Gigabyte board only mine was overvolting the CPU at stock way past what would have been needed for an overclock. Luckily I have a good CPU cooler that prevented my CPU from overheating and dying from all that voltage. Your BIOS was doing the exact opposite, it was undervolting the CPU and caused the PC to crash when the load on the CPU increased the slightest bit. A BIOS update fixed both my issue and yours. For my issue I actually got in touch with Gigabyte, reported the overvolting issue, and they released a BIOS update in a couple of days that they first emailed me, then published on their website.

Its a good thing is very far from me, otherwise I will bankrupt, I can't help it when it is about hardware, like a kid in candyland , I will maxout my credit card for sure, so thank God I don't have one near here hehe

5:40 - this is exactly how all of my colleagues react when i can't fix their problem remotely and i have to guide them through the steps so i can connect to their pc again...

I actually had this exact same issue the other day when I was working on an undervolt on my secondary pc. It would freeze right before going into Windows, but I was specifically working on an undervolt so I knew what it was.
I had issues like this when I built in my i7-9900k with Formula board. It would not boot at all with the default settings. I had to apply XMP settings and also up the voltage by 0.005 for stock clock speeds. It was super weird. Glad someone else was having a similar issue. Love the content Jay

i have problems with BSOD (video memory management error) on start up and the funny thing is i can run my pc for 2 days straight with no problems i can play games no problems BUT if i dont have my monitors on it will blue screen at start up. This problem only comes when i dont have my monitors on before i hit the power button but if i do have them on then no problems what so ever lol. love pc problems and i love seeing and here what problems people have gone through and what they did to work around it or fix it so this video was 10/10 quality ty for the laugh and info and keep up the great work
You may have burnt in the CPU a little with the overclock? And thus it needs more voltage now, as it's power delivery (on the CPU or on the Mobo) is worn a little.

I've been imaging for many years. I love it. Not just for keeping a backup of your windows install but also loading an image of a fresh install that has sysprep run. Then all you have to do is just install device drivers and update the OS. It's quicker than installing from a USB key but the downside is the older the image, the more updates you'll need to install.

Maybe the bios was old enough to not get the data chart for the KS but was using the K chart. And was basing the CPU voltage based on this fact. Updating the bios to "support" the KS might have changed that.
This video saved me. I bought a ASRock z390 TaiChi Ultimate with a i7-9700k CPU and I couldn't get it to load into Windows. I couldn't get it to load the USB OS Installer either. It would just power cycle after it got to the setup. After hours of messing around with it, testing voltages on the PSU, etc, I finally was pointed to this video form PC Gamers of Texas and I did three things:
1) Changed the RAM to XMP ( I was getting a weird RAM error when I took out one stick where it wouldn't let me put another stick back in and was giving me an E6 error)
2) Turned off Enhanced Intel Step Speed
3) Bumped the CPU a little with a 40 multiplier and 35 cache (BLCK 100.00)
Now it's working. I want to test to see which of these things actually fixed my problem, but I'm nervous to upset the delicate balance of electrobits and anger the gods of ASRock.

Thank you Jay, I had this problem yesterday. I spent an entire day trying to figure out what was going on, until I find this video. When I went to the BIOS update section, it complained about the memory cards, so I cleaned and swapped the memory cards then updated the BIOS and all good now.
Jay - Thank you for making an entertaining video on the whole troubleshooting process. I've only seen one other TH-camr make an entertaining troubleshooting video and that was Linus. I have felt vindicated by both of your videos and entertained, as well. I am glad you did not edit out the frustrating moments nor did you cover up your honest feelings during those times. Btw- been a subscriber for years now but this was only the second video of yours that i felt strongly enough to comment on - My Silence does not mean i ever gave you a thumbs down! LOL. I had that situation, where I thought the hardware was bad on my first computer -- and an overclock fixed my stability. I even returned my memory to GSkill to get tested - same problem. For some reason, at some point, I went in and set XMP and overclocked it, and it became rock stable. I mentioned this problem on Newegg in my review and it ended up being marked as the most helpful review of that batch of RAM.
Hey Jay! In the future, of this happens again, you should disable the boot-logo. That way, you get to see you BIOS counting RAM and all that good stuff. That can help you Tshoot because you can see exactly what the system was doing when it froze on you. :)

I've had some experience with this myself in the last few days. I've been experimenting with overclocking my ryzen 5 1600 and the memory timings and I've had many failed boots. My MSI motherboard doesn't like it very much when I clear the CMOS, often refusing to even boot to BIOS, but I found one thing that consistently makes it work again. It sounds stupid, but I have to remove the memory, then try to turn it on without the memory installed, turn it back off, reinstall the memory, then it will boot. I've got an Oct 19 BIOS, so I'm going to check for a newer one, but maybe this will help someone else who thinks they might have a bad motherboard after trying some change or overclock. Thanks for the great lesson Jay, even if it caused you a bunch of frustration.

But life forced me to take an other way (which is not as bad) and i now repairing boilers, climatisation and plumber..

With my ryzen 3600 + b450, i probably spent 3 days trying to figure out why it was not posting... Then i saw a post about the cold boot problem and msi fixed 2 months later.
Before that i needed to restart my pc 5-20 times, just to boot windows.
This was actually a great problem for you to have, for everyone else, not you LOL.

Troubleshooting PCs be like that. When you’ve finally found out it’s something like the pc not liking the XMP, then boots without it, then suddenly likes the XMP just after the stable boot (which is possibly the voltage again) it’s not cost you any new parts but it has cost you your chair

Well well, I just learned something that I didn't even think could happen! Would not have thought that a default Bios setting would set a CPU voltage so low that it would crash. Good thing to know now if I run into a similar problem in the future.
Best video on the internet right now just saved me about 1200 bucks my computer was getting stuck at the same spot I brought it in to Canada computers they said my motherboard was dead and needed a new cpu motherboard and ram I brought my computer home re applied the over clock and it fixed it thank you for this video man

Linux will crash too if its hardware issue. Most BSODs are due to hardware or driver faults and not Windows fault.

Yeh! I'm glad I'm not the only one that goes through this or something very similar every now and again for no apparent reason. Nice to see a Professional dealing with what we mortals have to deal with every so often. The 'ghost' turning on and off happened to me for 2 days once. I unplugged everything, swapped the boot drive to different SATA's nothing worked. Then it cured itself.
I've noticed that some motherboards have janky stock BIOSes in general. My Asrock board, for instance, needs the voltage manual set. If you leave everything on optimized defaults (which sets voltage to auto), it will run the CPU at 1.45-1.5v, making just about any CPU with a stock cooler throttle. AFAIK, they have never fixed it in BIOS updates.
I had a machine once that had been overclocked for so long it refused to run if it wasn't overclocked.
haplopeart My guess is that the CPU was ”worn out“ by the OC, meaning it needed more voltage to be stable. Had a similar thing with low voltage RAM that I had accidentally run at normal voltage for a few years; wouldn‘t run at its lower stock voltage anymore.
flatfoot1983 yeah that was exactly the problem I had as well the CPU was fine at normal clock but the RAM wanted the extra juice

Thank goodness for this video I was troubleshooting and clearing cups repeatedly for hours now. It worked once then I went back into bios to change fan settings and it happened again. Now I know gotta keep that ram overclocked....or else
just leaving this here, from my experience (i also work in IT) on of the first steps is usually grabbing a spare PSU and trying that. Those cause the weirdest errors (which could be the ultimate cause in this case as well, unclean power delivery with too little load). Those are more likely to be available as spare for most people then motherboards.
