OG Krauser saying Comrade is much more chilling and memorable than the remake Krauser with the Rookie, it got old way too quickly and becoming annoying the more you heard him saying that.
From Major Krauser (OG) to Colonel Kurtz (Remake). There are many similarities with Apocalypse Now in the new Krauser, beginning with the red paint on his face and the naked torso, to the speech about power, way similar to the one Kurtz give at the end of the movie about violence. Also, if my memory doesn't fail me, Kurtz also had been sent to an operation similar to the Javier one, failed the same way, making him go crazy. Anyway, good job by capcom. I do prefer the old voice but the acting in this one is more intense and evilish to be honest, suits him best. If we could fuse the voice and the acting it would be just perfect...
I think he’s more based on Rambo. Especially with the explosive arrows. If there’s anyone in RE who’s based on Kurtz it’s Wesker. White dude working for a European company goes to a remote part of Africa and starts a cult with himself as god and keeps doing atrocities against the local population.
The old Krauser is more composed calm than the new. He has an agenda, a plan and is vengeful but more confident. The new Krauser is frustrated and deranged, completely off balance. He isn't as intimidating as he was in the original. The older version had a deeper voice and never served the cult like the new one does.
I like the new Krauser. At least his hatred toward US gov and fall from Grace a bit more convincing compared to the old one. Here, it seems the US gov know full well the nature of Operation Javier and yet they pushed Krauser and his men and Leon into that slaughter fest and got most of them killed. Sure these soldiers were skilled operators, but their enemies were products of bioterrorism (zombies and such), so bullets won’t do Jack if they don’t know where to shoot at. The ONLY person who knew how to deal with those was Leon (for obvious reason).
Actually, according to notes you find, it seems like US government wiped the unit out themselves to cover up for whatever illegal operation they were carrying. Probably change of leadership had to do with it as the reasoning states "power grab".
What on earth are you talking about? 1) Operation Javier in the Remake had NOTHING to do with the original OJ story. 2) There were no zombies in Operation Javier in the remake. 3) Leon was not involved in that operation like in the original. 4) It's a lousy motive. I rather have him just pure evil like in the OG. In the original RE4 Krauser was just a complete loon.
The original presents itself better, but I appreciate the fact that the remake makes you use the knife for the first fight. And you can still use the knife against his transformed self.
Tbh even though the v.o of Krauser in the remake are different still gave me intense and challenging duel with him plus he got more dialogues now and we can feel their brotherhood for some point love this remake
more dialogue but more easy to kill after i look the video he run more faster and the end part i see he take 11-12 shoot gun shoot for kill im in the orginal u cant kill him so fast with weapon exept the kniff then the remake is not really a big chalege

I never got to play the original RE4 when it first came out, My first RE game was RE2 remake and than it got me hooked, I played RE3 remake, Village, 7, 0, and RE1 remake. I decided to not play OG4 to avoid Spoilers for the remake, seeing the knife fight against Krauser in the remake gave me chills, I than went back after finishing the remake and played the OG4 and it gave me a taste of what people felt like back in 2005 when the game first came out. It made me dream of going back to the mid 2000s when things in gaming were great. Halo was in its prime with H2 and H3, RE4 had released, COD 4, and WAW came out, Half Life 2 and its DLC released in 2004, Dead Space released in 2008. Playing all these older games as part of a newer generation (born 04) I wished I could have experienced them back then.
I was personally also a big fan of Amnesia, a game that had a massive influence in the horror genre. It came a bit later (2009) but it was still part of that overall time period of games. Thing is though, that's not to say that modern games are all bad or NECESSARILY missing something that those old games had. The idea of ''when games were great,'' has some weight to it I'm sure, But I've found that it's important to try to view the present in the same way as we did with the past. Back then, you didn't really think about it too much or fixate on whether it's as good as the past. There's plenty of games that are amazing and maybe even better than the old games.

Remake had more story for him which is great. But 05 had the best voice and had way more memorable scenes. He was almost an equal to Leon which made his fight that much greater. The knife fight in the original felt more cinematic. In the remake there's so much exposition dump and having to still do the actual fight in game while hearing all the dialogue takes you out of caring for the backstory. After playing through the whole remake. I was kinda just hoping the parts with krauser would end faster. He wasn't as interesting to me as OG but props to remake for least giving him more to do.
I fucking loved both fights in the remake. During the final fight the periods when hes hiding and you have to avoid both his traps and suprise attacks was genuinly thrilling. I also perfer the ramke voice. I dont know why but the orriginal just feels kinda flat, his voice is really damn intimidating but there isnt really much behind it, i love how much additude and smugness the new krauser has, the va did a great job. Its different but FAR from or worse.
I feel like that's nostalgia talking. OG Krauser's motivation is hilarious - "I want Umbrella back because order and stability". Wtf does that even mean lol? Let's bring back a psychotic corporation because reasons bro. His death is also ridiculously abrupt as Leon doesn't seem to give one damn about his old comrade. And then Ada comes back and finishes him off which is extra funny. The new one has a perfectly reasonable motive. He believes that he can only protect himself and others by acquiring as much power as possible. His unit was betrayed by US government and it drove him mad. In a way, he also tries to teach Leon to be better before he passes. Leon seems to be genuinely impacted by seeing what happened to his mentor.

Just my personal opinion but, 2005 Krauser was a better design to me. Older voice was better for sure. Newer combat was great, newer backstory was better. (It's obvious they intend to make operation Javier a DLC or a standalone eventually) Making Leon respond more logically and as an actual comrade was better. BUT. Older Krauser LOOKED older, sounded older, was a more comfortable sequence to enjoy and the story flowed a bit more badass. Here's why I feel the way I do about the new krauser, it comes almost entirely from my previous military experience as well so don't take me too serious here. I'm aware it's a game. The little area before the arena was cool. Pictures, dog tags, memoirs. Backgrounds, tapes etc. That was great. New Krauser seems almost childish about his downfall though. Older krauser won my heart in this way because he had that cold quiet but deadly demeanor about his scars. He just kept pursuing Leon relentlessly. I actually liked the shit talk from new krauser though that felt real. the banter back and forth was pretty good but the cringey one liners of calling leon a "soldier" got kinda weird in the middle (Darkside Chronicles was a secret service not the army). Ultimately the final form krauser just felt like a reskinned Vergil dialogue sequence from Devil May Cry. Every other word out of his mouth was "POWER" and how Leon has nothing without it. Literally almost word for word Dante vs Vergil dialogue. BUT, it freaking worked. I loved it. It showed a real time Krauser and his real intentions. The shield arm was a nice touch too. I like new krauser. But Old Krauser has an edge they couldn't beat for me.
Old Krauser is superior in every way. His design, his voice, his personality. They ruined him in the remake. In the OG he was a complete loon. In the remake he was a broke hearted Major who went awol.
Remake Krauser is when you ask a Japanese on how he/she would write an broken American veteran, he/she would check all the cliche that he/she can think of. While old Krauser had his own cliché but at least his personality is a bit more believable to me.
Though I'm enjoying the remake, I think I prefer the OG characters both in likeness and in attitude. It's also a testament to the graphics of the OG since they still hold up to this day. Also I've really come to appreciate the stylization of the OG such as the scene when Krauser says "Like you, I'm American" versus the try hard nature of the Nu-Krauser.
God….that scene at 14:10 is just a complete masterpiece shot. I’m no cinematic professional but mann that made this grown man cry. This scene needs to be discussed more as it is underrated!!!

Luis and Ashley were the only characters in the remake that were actually improved upon. Salazar and Saddler were fine. Krauser was butchered. Mendez was also good.

Atleast Krauser talk quite gentle to his student not like in the 2005 he treat Leon dif
Glad I'm not the only one who thought of this, Krauser is such a downgrade in this remake
I knew i wasnt the only one that noticed new Krauser is more inspired in Kurtz. Kinda fits its character and backstory very well
I think he’s more based on Rambo.
Agreed
Good explanation
How is it moe convincing over the fact that he lost his arm and was discharged because of it? They legit just gave him Chris’s backstory

Let’s not forget the birth of Games like God of war and uncharted
I was personally also a big fan of Amnesia, a game that had a massive influence in the horror genre. It came a bit later (2009) but it was still part of that overall time period of games.
Thing is though, that's not to say that modern games are all bad or NECESSARILY missing something that those old games had. The idea of ''when games were great,'' has some weight to it I'm sure, But I've found that it's important to try to view the present in the same way as we did with the past.

Just my personal opinion but,
2005 Krauser was a better design to me.

@@TheChromanoise the remake Krauser's graphic is clearly enhanced too yet original still looks great and besides I see little difference with the Ultimate HD edition Krauser, smartass
Small detail I noticed, remake Krauser’s knife is completely clean after being hilt deep inside Luis but in the og there’s blood on it after giving Leon just a little cut to the face
The new voice is menacing but the old is intimidate
Leon ;
2005 : You use to be a good guy ...
2023 : you know, you were always an asshole ...
luis death in the remake was pretty sad tho
Original is just amazing.Canera angles .Faces and voices . Game cut scenes .Consider it it is made for ps 2 with low graphical effects .Remake will just money making business.Nothing special
Old Is Gold ❤
They added a lot of emotion in remake which makes it 100 times better , i dont care what any of you fanboys say i love the new krauser , and tbh when i was a kid i playes the old re4 and loved it now its not thay fun considering the new team in the remake did good job.
Also i love the new rookie and trainer relationship between them
The voice, knife fight and backstory……….remake version is 100x better. 😎👊🏾✌🏾💯
-OG León and Krauser: Brothers in arms
-Remake León and Krauser: student and master
Its more painfull the treason of a brother than a master
