I've read that in japanese lore, the words "I love you" are protected by the moon, thats why Taki didn't write his name in her hand, if he did it would only have disappeared, just like their memories.
totally don't see it as the saddest word in this movie. it's actually the most beautiful word and it's precisely wise Mitsuha is able to drive herself to finish the mission when she was about to give up after falling down and forgetting Taki's name.
Makoto Shinkai's movies before this one were known for having bittersweet/downer endings, so Your Name could've ended at any time during the final 20 minutes and let me tell you, it had me on *edge* the first time I watched it lol. "I swear to God Shinkai, you better let them be happy this time!" Great reaction! ❤😊
I feel so weird commenting this because I recommend the previous movies too but then that gives away a huge spoiler vs people watching this and then going into the earlier works thinking they will get their happy endings.

If you ever feel drawn watching more of Makoto Shinkai's movies (the author of this movie) you might as well like Weathering With You and Suzume (my personal fave). This movies are so so pleasing to watch (not just visually though) and the story lines of these are just top notch!

The boy and the beast is a really great anime film! I haven't seen it in a long time & I remember it being slightly popular growing up- I consider it to be a very nostalgic piece of media haha. Its spectacular, and a well done movie overall!!

A couple of notions, I scrolled a lot of comments and didn't see anyone talking about those: • Your name went out in 2016, that year it wasn't even nominated for the Oscars... • traditional Japan is sorta polytheist, or maybe more animist, as in everything has a dedicated spirit or divinity • you were right about the red string: the red thread of fate is a common trope in japanese media, something that connects two characters over time and space, which is indeed the basic premise of this story • other traditional japanese lore things are in play here, like the twilight, the moment worlds can collide (think of Halloween), or the fact that love is the only thing that transcends time and space like fate, so writing a name on the hand wouldn't have worked anyway • we saw a tree in the way to the vending machine in Itomori. After a couple of scenes, that tree became a "café table", must have been Katsuhiko, really a nice guy • Mitsuha's fate after the comet is heavily implied by the bell, buy your way of getting the news was way funnier • the paintings in the cave tell us this is a recurring thing, Maybe it helped that Mitsuha's family is in charge of a shrine, and we are told all the women that we know switched with someone they were connected with. Maybe is that very ability that causes some disturbance in the universe and attracts meteors, who knows, but even Mitsuha implies a connection • imagine granma not fulfilling her dream to meet her destiny-person and then losing her power • Taki can't recognise Mitsuha on the train because he will know her in 3 years time The ending scene hits hard. It always happens, you see someone you feel attracted to/connected with, but you are not really sure, also it's basically weird, so you hesitate. Again and again. So many stories didn't take place because of that. Remember, it makes no sense for two strangers to be drawn one to the other, so it's perfectly normal they didn't force the meeting. But they are connected by the red string after all... This movie is just like Nolan's movies: the plot doesn't really make sense, but the narration is outstanding. No one in their right mind would resist crying after the "hand reveal"
Movies: shorter shows: Anime recommendation Kamari month My happy marriage( 12 episodes) brought me to tears a whisker away komi can't communicate( 24 episodes) my fav show miari( not my fav but it pretty good)
This has just convinced me that I would absolutely LOVE to see you watch some more anime series! Some I recommend are Bungo Stray Dogs, YURI!! This type of movie is most enjoyed on your 3rd or 4th watch, you start to notice all the little clues he left all throughout the movie which simply just make it a masterpiece. This movie should be studied in schools.

I would highly recommend Maquia: When the promised flower blooms. It’s an unforgettable anime movie about relationship between a mother and son, also brings up a question about mortality. Heads up! You gonna cry for sure
Weathering with You is also really good. It's the next movie in this same universe, though not quite as good as this. It's set during the 5 year time jump during Your Name. Taki and Mitsuha both make cameos!
You should watch the first spirited away it is soo cute it's funny it is like a love story the animation is so beautiful. It won tons of awards in Japan, but sadly it didn't even get nominated over here for the Oscars... Instead we got the 'masterpiece' Boss Baby as the best animated film that year
Loved this reaction ❤ also, something you might’ve not picked up on - Mitsuha and Taki were not just switching bodies across different locations but also across time. There’s a 3 year time gap. That’s why when our body-swap experienced Mitsuha went to meet Taki he didn’t recognize her, because she was 3 years too early - she met a younger Taki who wasn’t experiencing the body-swap yet. It’s a really cool subtle twist that added to the already bigger twist 😊

I would highly recommend Maquia: When the promised flower blooms. It’s an unforgettable anime movie about relationship between a mother and son, also brings up a question about mortality. Heads up! You gonna cry for sure

Weathering with You is also really good. It's the next movie in this same universe, though not quite as good as this. It's set during the 5 year time jump during Your Name. Taki and Mitsuha both make cameos!
I'd love to see you react to 'spirited away' and 'Princess Mononoke' from Studio Ghibli. They are my favourite
You should watch the first spirited away it is soo cute it's funny it is like a love story the animation is so beautiful. When tell you girlys like omg it would have made me cry when i heard it was an new one i have not watched the new one yet but first one was amazing like 😭 the tears are crazy I'm a sucker for anime i have a lot of animes i watch i have more cuz omg they are beautiful it's enough two make a grown man cry 🎉
Summer wars, Mirai no Mirai, Wolf children, Night is Short walk on girl, and Lupin the third The castle of cagliostro. That's a solid movie recommendation list.

Omg, finally an anime here! Maybe you can watch "A whisker away" it's an anime movie about cats! or "A silent voice" that is too emocional :( but with a great message! love u Rukiya, i never miss a reaction on your channel.

I loved the music in this movie so much it is currently my ringtone.
It won tons of awards in Japan, but sadly it didn't even get nominated over here for the Oscars... Instead we got the 'masterpiece' Boss Baby as the best animated film that year
Loved this reaction ❤ also, something you might’ve not picked up on - Mitsuha and Taki were not just switching bodies across different locations but also across time. There’s a 3 year time gap. That’s why when our body-swap experienced Mitsuha went to meet Taki he didn’t recognize her, because she was 3 years too early - she met a younger Taki who wasn’t experiencing the body-swap yet. It’s a really cool subtle twist that added to the already bigger twist 😊
