Little boys get almost no exposure to stories not starring little boys in some way. It's getting better, but usualy if it stars a girl it's a romantic movie where falling in love is key to the story. I always get emotional when I realize that the will-o-the-wisps didn't just bump into Merida when she was little, they led her away from Mordu because dying by his hand wasn't her fate.
While I might be reaching, I sort of thought that when Merida is following the wisps and gets spotted by Mor'du when Elinor is being chased, the wisps are for him as well(and his desired death).
If you really think about it, when the sons of Macintosh MacGuffin and Dingwall didn't stop Merida during the archery tournament, it's obvious that they never wanted to go through with the whole marriage in the first place
Happy New Year!! When Merida shot those arrows it’s like she said, “a corset where?” Such an independent princess, I’ll forever be obsessed with her curly hair and the greenery. Best reaction 🐻❤️
Happy New Year to you too!! Thank you so much for recommending me to watch Brave. I knew Merida was gonna be an iconic princess the moment I saw her rock climbing with no gear!😳 She is a badass that knows what she wants and fights for it. Such a fun watch❤️
That's one issue I have with the movie. Corsets like that had not been invented yet, also the whimple (white hood) was from a later time period. Brave takes place in 10th century (900s AD) Scotland
Brave is definitely one of my favorites 😍 I just love that this and Moana didn't follow a typical Disney format of y'know, having a prince/love story. And the songs just made me happy~
You asked in the first like 3 minutes of the movie if bears were really that sneaky and as someone who lives in a bear populated area I can confidently say yes. Bears can be extremely quiet and sneaky when they want to be.
I also love how Mirada split the first arrows because the was so important to the whole movie. She said that she wasn't going to get married. The first arrow represents the rule and she split the arrow so basically the rule.
My daughter is called Merida and is the image of her in every way... the hair, the eyes, the attitude! She has not turned me into a bear just yet, thankfully.
17:58 And Agnus knew this whole thing was a bad idea - he didn't want to go there.....animals always sense somehow when something's wrong, especially in stories like this
This movie always makes me smile. One of the only Disney movies featuring a Princess that isn’t fighting FOR a prince. It’s the opposite. I love it. Merida is probably my favorite Disney Princess of all for this reason. She’s just amazing. And the animation is always on point. Her hair…I want it soo badly.
Something i love about this movie, Elenor taught merida to be a leader, to control a situation, and to bring peace among people- like a queen should. Merida taught her mom to quite literally "let her hair down" and enjoy life more. This movie is underrated
This movie was my entire childhood and my brother was obsessed with the bear fight scene so much that he tried recreate it with me by getting with me as boys do. I even had the Brave story time cd where it had songs and the story but the Touch The Sky song was my favorite and it got stuck in my head all the time.
Did you notice the mother used to have her hair kind of tied up, and at the end of the movie most of her hair blows free? Am I sensing symbolism there?
many people say that this is one of the worst Pixar films and I recognize that it is really different from the others. but I think Brave is one of the best. one of my favorites from pixar
15:49 But that's just the thing. As we find out later Elinor wasn't exaggerating when she said that, or when she said "there will be fire and sword if it's not set right." Before this story started the games were there to arrange marriages without one clan accusing another clan of favouritism or secret alliances. That was when they were enemies. Then they became allies when they were invaded. Now they're still allies but there's no enemies to fight and all three of the lords plus Fergus have long memories and short tempers. The safety of them as a collected kingdom rather than four seperate clans is resting on a very fragile alliance, so now the games are there to make sure that that alliance holds strong without giving anyone a reason to fight with each other. I think Merida does know his but doesn't really take it seriously or believe that it could actually happen - re when she imitated Elinor saying "We'll expect your declarations of war in the morning." I'm not saying I'm in support of this and I'm not blaming Merida for her actions. The whole arranged marriage thing reeks of unfairness and no one should have to get married to someone they haven't even talked to yet when they have no choice in the matter. But.....well it's difficult. Your valid right to want to live your life for yourself and make your own decisions....vs the safety of your home, your family, your whole country. I mean personally I'd rather get married to secure peace rather than get married because my family's either rich and want to stay right or because my family was rich, lost their money and want to become rich again, it's a lot less selfish. But it makes me glad I'm not from one of those families and that I get to have an actual say it in. I guess that's the thing - both Merida and Elinor were right.
Sacrificing women on the altar of unfairness and forced marriage just so the men won’t fight is hardly an admirable way to solve any problem. That’s kind of the point of the movie. And it’s not as if the men like it much either, but it’s particularly heinous for the women in that situation, given how MUCH they are being FORCED to give up. Their life, their freedom, their bodily autonomy, their health when they inevitably are forced to produce heirs. It’s horrifying. I’m sure that Merida is fully cognizant of the risks of refusing, but the darkness of the life ahead of her, that she DOESN’T WANT is just as bad to her. One is a risk, the other is a guaranteed life of slavery- physically, reproductively, mentally. She said “no”, and it’s her choice, the men’s problems be damned.
@@LeBatteur I'm not condemning her for refusing, she shouldn't have been put in that situation anyhow. Just can also see Elinor's worries and concerns. That's the beauty of the story, we see how Elinor realises how much it would hurt Merida to give up her freedom and we see Merida realise how much work Elinor does to keep things stable and what she's trying to protect, and because they can see it now they were able to come up with a new plan giving Merida and the entire younger generation of all four clans a choice in their future. Still also say that Young Macintosh, young Macguffin and Wee Dingwall all now owe Merida big time for getting them out of an arranged marriage, hoping they'll be grateful to her for that enough to swear allegiance to her regardless when she becomes queen and they all become the lords of their respective clans.
she didn't go to her dad because her dad doesn't believe in magic, so he wouldn't believe her. remember at the beginning when she told her mom and dad she saw a wisp, and he made fun of it? yeah, kinda foreshadowing.
I think will o' the wisps are actually spirits from people who have past on in tragic ways. Lost in the woods, cursed and forgotten, that sort of thing. So it wasn't really the prince guiding Merida, but rather those who also died tragically.
31:46 I've heard that originally we were going to see that Wisp join three others so that it would be like all four brothers would be together again to warn others about what happened to them.
You should check out Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea for st Patrick’s day. They’re both Irish animations but the art style is so unique and just stunning.
Merida is still one of my favorite princesses (Third place after Mulan and Rapunzel, just because films dedicated to them are better). Not the best Pixar movie, but one of the best Pixar character. She’s so like me when I was a kid and kinda like I am now. Also her mom is literally like mine, she still thinks that the conflict of the story wasn’t in both of the heroines behaviors, but only Merida’s, and Elinor was right all along. Guess my mother didn’t see the whole message. Think that’s why she reminds me of this queen who never listens even to a really opened dialogue… Plus, I do too have an important thing without which I couldn’t leave like Merida with her bow. And my mother tried to took it away many times and even stole one of those things when I was at school. So yeah. I feel this in a lot of levels. Oh, and Merida’s father = my father. Love you, dad 💙
I absolutely love Brave. I am much closer to my mom so I relate to this story, especially now. I am currently attending nursing school because my mom wants me to. It's just like how Merida was forced to get married.
When I was little, I didn't really care much about Brave... But as I grew I older, it really touched my heart and made me realize so many things, even grew closer to my mom. I'm grateful to have her in my life. The part where the mom was slowly turning into a complete bear and losing her self/senses never fails to make me cry. I can't imagine losing a mom...
It always gives me chills how in the final battle you can hear Eleanor (Meridas mom) growling as a bear but then the second she steps in front of Merida to protect her you can hear her HUMAN scream underneath the growling like- damn that is a legit mama bear
I remember seeing a trailer for this for the first time when my mom and I went to the cinema to watch Titanic during the 100th anniversary of the sinking. I usually don't start crying until Nearer My God to Thee is played but that time I started crying over the trailer for Brave because 1) I didn't know about the film and obviously didn't expect it, and 2) it was the trailer where Gàidhlig / Scottish Gaelic was spoken (sung) instead of English. As an American who has been mocked by my own family for fifteen years for having an interest in Scottish culture, hearing and seeing that on the big screen, done with such incredible attention to detail, was a very emotional, cathartic experience for me. I still have my interest in Scottish culture. I've since been fortunate enough to meet most of the Scottish musicians that were involved with the soundtrack for this film, and for the How to Train Your Dragon films. I can't wait to see your reaction to the Doric dialect scenes. It doesn't sound like it to the untrained ear but he is speaking English.
5:18 Merida's horse is a Clydesdale. (Which is a MASSIVE type of horse) It's actually incredibly difficult to ride them, so the fact she can, not only ride, but LET GO OF THE REINS, AND SHOOT ARROWS?? **SKILL**.
Bears are that sneaky! people usually can only find out there is bear nearby from the whistle like sound that they make when they stand up to listen/look at you and even then you don't usually see them. (at least bears in Finland are like thos)
It took them several years to do her hair alone. Each curl is individually animated and there may have also been special code written for it. Either way it was a whole process

While I might be reaching, I sort of thought that when Merida is following the wisps and gets spotted by Mor'du when Elinor is being chased, the wisps are for him as well(and his desired death).
I'm scottish (like born and raised in scotland) and so this movie just hits home for me. I saw it when it first came out. They did a wonderful job
This movie is my literally my favorite childhood movie.
I can see why, it’s so good!😍
@@RukiyaReacts It really is! And Merida is my favorite Disney Princess. She is a strong, independent woman who don't need no MAN!
Same! Especially since both characters are young, it's nice to see them pursue their passions instead of searching for a partner.
@@RukiyaReacts agreed!! 🙂
You asked in the first like 3 minutes of the movie if bears were really that sneaky and as someone who lives in a bear populated area I can confidently say yes. Bears can be extremely quiet and sneaky when they want to be.
Thats terrifying…
Lived in the country my whole life, and it does just feel like bears spawn in wherever. You often dont see them until theyre there
Wow! That's so cool yet terrifying at the same time😅
The country where? To my knowledge bears haven't been in the wilds of Scotland since the last ice age 🤔 I could be wrong though
@@RukiyaReactsyeah i know 😅❤
I also love how Mirada split the first arrows because the was so important to the whole movie. She said that she wasn't going to get married. The first arrow represents the rule and she split the arrow so basically the rule.
Merida is such a boss, she is one of my fav Disney princesses. She got the skills saying “ I don’t need no man✨✨”
My daughter is called Merida and is the image of her in every way... the hair, the eyes, the attitude! She has not turned me into a bear just yet, thankfully.
17:58 And Agnus knew this whole thing was a bad idea - he didn't want to go there.....animals always sense somehow when something's wrong, especially in stories like this
Animals are always smarter than humans :’)
33:41 Well Merida did say she'd buy every carving. The witch said her deliveries could be expected within a fortnight
When the little brother started flying lie I was dying laughing 😂😂😂
Girrrl, I couldn't stop laughing at that part while editing💀🤣🤣
It's my favourite Disney movie
@@gingergamer3270 me too
I love you girl❤❤@@RukiyaReacts
Seeing Disney tackle a mom/daughter relationship issue just still gets me to this day❤️
The dad is my favorite character throughout the entire movie
Something i love about this movie, Elenor taught merida to be a leader, to control a situation, and to bring peace among people- like a queen should. Merida taught her mom to quite literally "let her hair down" and enjoy life more. This movie is underrated
Fun fact: the people in charge of animating her hair spent 3 years studying curly hair and how it reacts too different surroundings
Pure dedication!!
19:53 Literally screamed “SHUT UP.” Cause of how flabbergasted I was with you guessing all the major plots twist 2 times in a row😭
This movie was my entire childhood and my brother was obsessed with the bear fight scene so much that he tried recreate it with me by getting with me as boys do. I even had the Brave story time cd where it had songs and the story but the Touch The Sky song was my favorite and it got stuck in my head all the time.
The sound and music when Mercia shoots the third arrow always gives me chills. My favorite Pixar movie ever
Disney and Pixar but yes, this is true I love this movie
I think Merida does know his but doesn't really take it seriously or believe that it could actually happen - re when she imitated Elinor saying "We'll expect your declarations of war in the morning."
I'm not saying I'm in support of this and I'm not blaming Merida for her actions.
I rather not get married because it's hard too be a parents.
The spirits of those who been killed by the giant bear throu the years.
The engagement is less about what she wants and more about what is expected of royalty.
31:46 I've heard that originally we were going to see that Wisp join three others so that it would be like all four brothers would be together again to warn others about what happened to them.
Considering I've been around more bears than I would have liked, I can confirm they are extremely sneaky
That’s scary 😳🐻 I would for sure die if I came across one lol
You should check out Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea for st Patrick’s day. They’re both Irish animations but the art style is so unique and just stunning.
Both movies are gorgeously animated with beautiful stories. Please please react to those!!!!
Oh god, I couldn't agree more !! Both movies are absolutely stunningly beautiful and they also have incredible songs, even in Irish !
YES! Also I think Breadwinner has the same animation,I watched them a while ago so i'm not sure but it's such a beautiful movie too
Also check out Wolfwalkers
Song of the Sea is one of those hauntingly beautiful films! Simplistic yet emotionally deep story.
Definitely one of my favorites out of Disney/Pixar in a long time.
MERIDA BEST GIRL! she's strong and independant and took care of her bear mom 🐻
Yes!!💖
Merida is still one of my favorite princesses (Third place after Mulan and Rapunzel, just because films dedicated to them are better). Not the best Pixar movie, but one of the best Pixar character. She’s so like me when I was a kid and kinda like I am now. Also her mom is literally like mine, she still thinks that the conflict of the story wasn’t in both of the heroines behaviors, but only Merida’s, and Elinor was right all along. Guess my mother didn’t see the whole message. Think that’s why she reminds me of this queen who never listens even to a really opened dialogue…
Plus, I do too have an important thing without which I couldn’t leave like Merida with her bow. And my mother tried to took it away many times and even stole one of those things when I was at school. So yeah. I feel this in a lot of levels.
Oh, and Merida’s father = my father.
Love you, dad 💙
Her dad doesn't believe in magic. There's absolutely no way he would believe Elinor turned into a bear.
I absolutely love Brave. I am much closer to my mom so I relate to this story, especially now. I am currently attending nursing school because my mom wants me to. It's just like how Merida was forced to get married.
Brave has been one one of my favorite movies for a long time so you can imagine how happy I was to see Rukiya react to this movie 💖
I hope I did your favorite movie justice💕✨
@@RukiyaReacts Don't worry, you did 💖
When I was little, I didn't really care much about Brave... But as I grew I older, it really touched my heart and made me realize so many things, even grew closer to my mom. I'm grateful to have her in my life. The part where the mom was slowly turning into a complete bear and losing her self/senses never fails to make me cry. I can't imagine losing a mom...
Brave was the only DVD i had for a while so safe to say it was and still is my favorite movie
Having Scottish roots... anything w a bagpipe hits me in my soul 🥰
**SKILL**.
This movie has always been my favourite. I watched it with my mother in the cinema when it first came out, and we both were bawling at the end :')
15:10
here u can see how the arrow leaves a lil scar on Merida's cheek
Bears are that sneaky! people usually can only find out there is bear nearby from the whistle like sound that they make when they stand up to listen/look at you and even then you don't usually see them. (at least bears in Finland are like thos)
This movie honestly doesn’t get enough love
Idk why but you thinking the fathers were the suitors cracked me up 😂😂
I was scared that my girl Merida would have to marry one of the fathers 💀😂
"Are bears really that sneaky, I've never seen one",. question asked, question answered.
Brave is literally my FAVORITE princess ever. She’s literally the human version of the phrase “we don’t need no man”!
It took them several years to do her hair alone. Each curl is individually animated and there may have also been special code written for it. Either way it was a whole process
Not only special code, Pixar straight up created two softwares from scratch just to animate her hair. It’s mind boggling
@@hummus_exual waiting for this movie to come out from the very earliest teasers to completion was just 🤯🤯🤯 esp when they finally came out and explained the tech they had to create first… I’ve never been so excited to see a movie in theaters in MY LIFE
When she said, “Mend the bond torn by pride,” Merida thought she meant the tapestry because when she ripped it, she separated her mom from her and her dad (in the order they were standing) just like the prince separated himself from his brothers when he split the stone
12:48 I was howling with laughter at this shot. Not only because it cemented Queen Mommy as one hell of a woman, but also making me fear her strength. She only has TWO hands! How is she gripping ALL of their ears?!
When merida about to shoot the arrow for her own in marriage the way she is about to shoot is so super smooth
I love how Merida became she wants to follow her own destiny
i constantly rewatch this movie JUST to see her hair. the way it bounces, the color, the texture... its addicting
i used to hate this movie bc my family would tell me that my name means brave, thus making this movie about me 😭😭 it rlly irritated me for the longest time and i couldn’t understand why, BUT now i know why! it’s because i’m a boy and hated being told that i’m just a tomboy princess going through a phase LOL anyways it’s one of my favorite movies now that i figured myself out
13:14 " who is gonna treat you better than yourself?"
i literally yelled while snapping my fingers *idk how to spell it* "PERIODT"

Amazing reaction girl! 😍👏🏻 one of my fave Disney movies, the animation is just *chefs kiss* 🤍
Thank you babe!🥰 and agree!!
Fun fact this is the only princess in Pixar so far and a lot of people come to sleep on that because she doesn't have a romantic interest and her movies really really good it's not as musical as most Disney princesses movies are but it's a very good movie I don't own many Pixar movies but this is one I do own as I basically collect Disney Princess movies not going to lie as soon as I'm done watching you react to this I'm going to see what other Disney Princess movies you've reacted to and have to go and watch them too
How do people NOT like this movie?? it's insanely good
I love this movie and watched it in 3d in the cinema when I was younger. Mordu was terrifying 😳

Brave has always been one of my favourite Disney films, I am biased because I am Scottish but the message behind it is so powerful and emotional
I always loved the reaction of the dad when mordue showed up just "KILL IT!" was just hilarious 😂
I loved this movie so much when I was little because I had never seen a princess or and Disney chick in general that had curly hair. They always had straight hair. I was so happy to see someone that resembled mr

Gotta say your editing is on point. This movie is really funny but your edits made it even more hilarious!
In my language the way Merida is said in english sound like a swear word, and it sound funny when it is said, but at 16:17 it becomes perfect for the moment, favorite moment😂

This has to be in my top 3 favourite Disney movies ever not only because of the message and that she is a princess from my nationality, but it also changed the format of these types of movies for ever
10:22 If only she'd said so much as "I had reservations when I faced betrothal" or "I know this seems unfair....."

Brave is legit so underrated and mostly a forgotten Disney movie. I have a CD and I played it legit more than 100 times, belive me it's my favourite movie and my childhood. Fun fact: Merida is one of the first princess (in blood) that doesn't have to have a man to save her and deals with her problems on her own. Also A LOT of teenagers including me (mostly girls) can relate to her because of the mommy issues that happens in real life. I just love this movie ❤ thank you for watching this masterpiece and enjoying it. :)
there are so much to love about this film I won't even know how people disliked this and mostly say it's boring.
for me it touched my heart

Im not even scottish but when i hear anyone talk about this movie im talking about every single scottish culture part that i noticed in the movie❤❤
I love this movie because my ancestors were Scottish Gaelic vikings and I could do a wild Scottish accent as well as I've been to the Scottish/Irish parade in North Carolina in the summer, my family is a proud clan of Scotland, I'm part of the proud clan, Clan Macdonald. So needless to say I LOVE this movie!
This movie is really special to me, it came out the same year my mom passed away.
OMG I JUST REALIZED THEY MADE THE OVERBEARING MOTHER INTO AN ACTUAL BEAR BRUH
I just LOVE how when she shoots for her own hand she splits the dress seams I love that symbolism!
