Have 2 P17’s. My wife and I are quite pleased with them. I did install Traction Grips on both. It definitely improved the purchase. You did comment about 22lr for EDC. Here’s my take on that. First, 17 rounds is a ton on ammo without having to reload. My most important observation is 22lr ammo is very inexpensive. So a shooter can afford to become extremely proficient with the P17. Putting shots on target is the key. I’d like to hear comments about my thoughts. Cheers.

@@sherlock1895 If a 22 strike isn't going to stop somebody, a 9mil hit in the same spot isn't going to stop them either. That simple. Greg Ellefritz's Ohio law enforcement database proves this. Good video . These little 22 LR are really underestimated, in the study "An Alternate Look at Handgun Stopping Power" the 22LR is among the 3 most lethal calibers (within the data of that study), of course, it was the third least capable of stopping the opponent. Another interesting fact from that study in relation to the 22LR is that in terms of "average rounds to incapacitation by caliber" (in those cases in which there was incapacitation), the 22 LR performs better than against all other calibers (with the exception of the shotgun), probably precisely because of the ease of grouping and possibly the better training of those who possess the weapons. These new pistols in 22LR and their increased reliability, and more reliable modern ammunition are really a good option for ccw or home defense for the elderly or simply for those who like to put every round on the target! 😃 I just subscribed. Thank you for the video!

put all 13 or 16 on target that is a lot of holes to patch.

Taurus has been having good press in recent years so I took the plunge and bought the TX22 Compact. I figure if it's a dud then at least I didn't drop a lot of cash on it. That said, it's turned into one of my favorite guns to shoot. I think the ergonomics are great and it feels really comfortable to shoot. And so far I've had zero failures.

I have the TX22c and it is a blast at the range. I bought it for the sole purpose of improving my skills at the range without burning through 9 & 10 mm. It is a shooter for sure, I've never put anything but CCI mini mags through it as that is what I have thousands of rounds available in.

I own both of these actually. Lol. I like 22 it’s fun and more importantly cheap to shoot and train with. The keltec is a very cool simple gun. Love the fiber front sight and it’s accurate. The trigger is mint hovering around a tad under 3lbs. I’ve been a fan of Taurus having Owed g2c and g3c I’ll agreed the tx trigger is more tactical but I don’t listen to my trigger reset but is very nice. Weight on the keltec is insane like a feather. Hate the mags. Taruas feels more solid obviously and like the mags better. Honestly they both have pros and cons but honestly you can’t go wrong with either. I got the keltec from PSA for $149 screaming deal and months after got the tx compact in FDE color for $269

I own a Taurus G3c and thought I would get the TX22, but after going online and seeing reviews and with customer service being better on the Keltec I went with the P17. It has been flawless and I even called Keltec to see how often to change the recoil springs, the lady said she would send out two at no charge to ease my mind but she knew of guns with several thousand rounds with the same spring. Kinda makes me want to sell my two G3c's and get two Keltec 9mm.

I definitely agree with the comment. I’ve had both Caltex and Taurus and the reason I sold all the Taurus pistols I had was because their customer service was almost nonexistent. When I had some problems they told me it would be under warranty, but it would not. Be fixed for a minimum of 18 months and since this was my pistol that I carried every day, it went straight to the pawnshop and I bought my first Caltech. They may be ugly, but they’re super reliable.

I have the Keltec p17 and yes the factory grip is not the best, very slick especially if it gets any bit wet. This is easy fixed by getting some Traction Grips from their website. They made custom ones for the p17 and they really change the feel of the gun. I can also speak to Keltec standing by their product. Did have some issues with the p17, one phone call and they took care of it, did not even have to pay shipping.

it certainly works, since it's so common it's used in a lot of shootings
someone else cited a study but i recall my father telling me about how a 22 didn't fully penetrate a shoulder but tumbled around and got stuck, probably hit an artery or otherwise lost a ton of blood and died
gel test aren't one to one with the human body (difference parts of the body have different density, bone density, clothing, etc.); they're good for consistent testing and comparison though but at the end of the day, a hole through your body is a hole through your body
doesn't matter how big your caliber is if all your shots miss when you can't afford to miss; having minimal recoil is a huge boon when you're cracked on adrenaline unless you adequately training to mitigate under live fire drills, completely different from static firing at the range

It isnt perfect but its not BAD either. Every mag i go thru has a different experience. I only use CCI Mini Mags because i hear they are the best in 22's and i can say that out of every 100 round case, maybe 1 or 2 failure to fire on the 1st hit, but always fires on the 2nd hit.
I have 5 total mags with this gun and as i said, every mag is a different experience. 1 mag will fire off all 16 rounds with no issue while the next mag will give me 1 or 2 stove pipes while another mag will give me 1 failure to fire. So when i shoot it, its like whats going to happen with this mag .. LOL ..

The keltec got a mixed reviews when first introduced and reviewed, but keltec fixed those issues before mass produced and sent out. Lol!!! Yea it is!!! Looks like somebody found a bunch of spare misc. parts laying around and quickly made a gun?! It definitely puts the UG in Ugly!!! I have a Keltec P11 subcompact 11 rd 9mm smallest lightest and best ccw gun to come out,, period!! Came out in mid 90s and every gun company has copied the design over and over but havent been able to come out with one that's better! Have hundreds and hundreds of rounds through it and still like new for the 20 years I've had it. One of my MAIN CCW's in an Uncle Mike's front pocket holster! Keltec has been a fantastic innovator in firearms since the early 1990s but this "thing" they created here in this video is hideous!!

Really think you need to do a spell check prior to posting. Kel-tec is not spelled "keltex" 🤣🤣🤣
