😄 You had a hard time admitting you LOVED this gun, but that's ok. You gave an honest and in depth review and that's what counts. I've been looking for a good plinking/training gun and this review helped my choice decision. Job well done.
Lol yes I really came into this review with a bias against Taurus. I think it says a lot about the gun if I liked it. Watch the 1000 round update as it went 700 rounds without any cleaning and ran flawless. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
Outstanding TX22 review! Super objective and thoughtful analysis with the ammo questions answered up front. All potential buyers and current owners can learn from this….
I have two PT111 Millimium G2 owned for 5 years, G3, and a G3x. The G3 stays put in a MCK G2 and had run a couple thousand rounds in that fairly dirty environment but I do clean it regularly and all of them have run flawlessly on all ammos. One of the PT111s has a LakeLine spring kit which was replaced not due to fault but curiosity. Kept the original for spare. This stainless rod and spring did slightly reduce barrel flip a tiny bit. Next purchase is TX22.
awesome video. i just picked up the tx22 competition today and immediately put a red dot on it. love the weight and feel of it. handles like a full size pistol that you can shoot for a fraction of what it costs to shoot other calibers.
I just bought one a month ago. I never had any issues. As soon as I bought it, I polished the ramp cleaned took it to the Range for the first time. Shot 350 fmj and some hollow points with out any issues. I love the gun and I believe Taurus has improved a lot. Love the TX22 a lot. He safety does not bother me. I bought two extra magazines. Found them to be a little expensive at $45.00.
I had a problem with the G2S, where the trigger decided it wasn't going to work, unless you put pressure to the left on it. It's kind of hard to explain, but they are KNOWN for these trigger problems. I also swore off Taurus, it would be a cold day in hell before I bought another one. I ended up getting talked into a 605 revolver chambered in .357. I am VERY happy with it, strangely enough. After everything I have heard about the TX22, I may give them another go.
I've been thinking about getting this gun. I own the g2c and the g3x. Love both of them, never had a problem with either of them. Taurus has really come a long way. I own a bunch of handguns from different manufacturers. I have no problem putting either Taurus guns in my carry rotation. Am I going to say they are as good as my glocks, my rugers, my CZs, or my smith's? No, but they are more than reliable to trust my life with.
My pt111 G2 purchased 2017, have never had any issues of any kind, always functioned flawlessly, total confidence while Conceal Carrying. Since have many other brands, enjoy variety of guns to shoot. Go Taurus
They complain about Taurus and use that slogan because Taurus under new management is making good designed accurate and reliable guns at a better price and they are not Glocks or SIGs. Folks need to stop living in the past. Blade trigger safeties have no place on a rifle where clean trigger pull is more critical than on close range pistols. Its not so bad on concealed carry close range pistols but not so good on full size duty pistols that need to shoot farther out.
I have the TX22 the G44 and the P322. It's the only Taurus I've ever owned and will probably be the only one I ever own. I paid for a new barrel. Cheaper than shipping the gun to them. Bought the replacement barrel at 600 rounds, the new barrel has 5400 rounds. It's not terribly accurate but it's very good as a trainer. It's more reliable than the G44 in that it fires a higher percentage of cheap rounds. Much higher. The P322 is much like the Glock. All three guns feed and eject but the TX is more likely to make a weak primer go off on one strike. Much more. The gun shows its wear, unlike the Glock, which has ten thousand plus rounds and looks new. All three pistols need attention when loading the magazine or you get nose dives. That's all three brands. The trigger is way better than the Glock, no where near as good as the Sig. Mine has a safety, we use it when going down to check in the middle of a string. Normally we don't use it. The Glock has no thumb safety, the Sig has a better thumb safety. Sights are impossible to adjust on the TX for close range. At max it prints low with all brands of ammo I use. All three are good guns with the Glock having the edge on quality control, the Sig having the best trigger and the best accuracy. Fixed barrel, best sights and best trigger for the win if you want to shoot small. The Taurus is the best bargain by a lot. If you get one with a good factory barrel it's cheapest. DO NOT USE LRN ammo in any of these three guns. If you do, assume you will have accuracy problems forever. Stick to copper washed. Load slowly, make sure each round goes in and is to the back. That's all three pistols.
I wish i was this fortunate. I’ve put hundreds of rounds through mine. Had it for a month. Lots of people advised to clean and lube the mags. Still having issues. Mostly failure to load. A few ejection issues as well. Cleaned and lubed gun once already. I’ll keep trying different ammo. Stay tuned.
I have the PT111 Millennium G2 and the pt 809 both guns are awesome, so it must have just been your guns and I'm looking forward to getting the TX .Taurus has a lifetime warranty
Love my three I own #1- PT111 millennium pro 9mm - #2-PT111 millennium pro Titanium 9mm (very light gun) and #3 TX22... I am very impressed and happy with these pistols.. (the titanium is hard to find must be rare) Nice review thanks for posting..
A superb review. Totally justifies my yesterday's purchase. Paid a bit too much but I'm quite pleased so far as well. Yes, a compact version for extended practice and a .40 G2C for carry would be super.
Thanks for comparing it to the tp9 I really enjoy training/shooting with mine and been thinking about picking up one of these just for plinking around with.
You will not regret it. I shoot it more now than my 9mm's. You can really work on trigger control and see when you are pulling shots due to the small recoil. Reducing time from concealed draws to first fire is where this really shines for practice. I also use it to force getting the gun in front of my face for reloads. Most of what we are practicing is muscle memory anyway and this goes a long way without the cost or fatigue of your carry pistol. Thanks for watching.
I seriously had ppl asking me what it was at the range yesterday, saying it looks like it's a really good shooter. should have seen how fast they walked away when i looked at them and said it's a Taurus.
Lol that is funny. I have a good friend that is retired special forces and is a die hard Glock guy and has a Glock 44. We swapped pistols and he loved it and said "I've got to buy one of these, what is it?" When I told him Taurus I think something broke in his head! Thanks for watching.
Me too. One of my all time favorites. Bought an OG used like new one in the original box many years ago for $150. It has always been my most accurate 9mm. Love it
I am a first time viewer and I really enjoyed your interesting unbiased opinion of the firearm. And your reviewer personality makes for an interesting review. Ditto on the compact, or even a micro sub compact offering. I have a S & W compact and really enjoy it.
Well your dream came true because they do have a TX-22 compact and I have one I have the full size and I love it The slide is so easy to manipulate and I just love it
I consider myself a mid-tier gun snob and viewed Taurus as a budget brand. After a good experience with the KelTec P17 (a more budget brand) I decided to give the compact a try. Like it enough to purchase the first version with the OG slide instead of the new one that mimics the compact.
I have all the G2 series I have all the G3 series I had the GX4 and I had the TH9 and I haven't had any issues with any of them I went on a crazy buying spree after the pandemic and so far the the G3 runs good I have it in a CCAA conversion kit Love it
I have owned a number of Taurus pistols. I now own a G2C and a TX22. I have traded all but these two. Problems, problems, problems with all of them. The G2C is the only one I am glad I purchased. My TX22 has all the right features and this video is accurate on that point, but Taurus is the most inconsistent brand I own. You never know what you are going to get other than a good price. It is a total roll of the dice. My TZX22 fails to feed 25 to 50% of the time. I took all 5 of my magazines apart and cleaned as recommended in the TH-cam videos, even though I have never had to do that with any other brand. Still, have the same problem. I thought CCI Mini Mags would solve the problem. They were the worst. Aguila was horrible as well. Remington Thunderbolt 40gr and Federal 40gr worked. I almost traded the gun yesterday but decided to hold onto it for awhile. I own all the major and not so major brands like Canik and have NEVER had an ammo problem, even in my 1911s. Taurus is an inconsistent manufacturer and the consumer never knows what he/she will be getting. After 5 tries, I will never buy another Taurus, even if there are 50 new videos telling me that Taurus has come a long way. BTW, my Victory 22 will shoot anything. Yes, it is only 10 rounds, but they go bang EVERY time with any ammo.
Only real problem I've have with mine (all FDE version), is that the rear sights won't hold their elevation setting. Windage holds, but not elevation. I stuck a sliver of rubber under it to keep it held up high, and that's the zero at short range fortunately.
That is interesting. Ive not had any issues with my sights other than hard to see the front one. I'd call Taurus. Ill bet they send you another without having to send your gun in. Thanks for watching!
My sight stays put, but it prints low at seven yards. That's with full adjustment. Six thousand rounds just under where I aim. At fifteen yards it's fine. We live with it.
I swapped the OEM sights with cheap fiber optic sights. No elevation adjustment, but the sights only needed drift adjustment for windage. Shoots great, but doesn’t like Remington golden bullets. Even then, only had 4-5 failures out of 100 rds.
@@E52O4 Roger that. I've made the mistake in the past of using Golden Bullets for everything but they really are cheap and messy, less reliable etc. CCI Standard Velocity round lead 40gr is better and very easy to find, been using that.
Had a Taurus Thunder, didn’t like it. Got a Ruger LCP 380 that I like but rounds are expensive. I’ve been checking out reviews for this gun. Cheap rounds and a 4 lb trigger pull. It’s on my “to get” list.
The only issue with the Tauruses that they do require 200 $250 round break in so if you do take it out new and you have problems give it time it'll clear itself out after 250 rounds they are solid
For me the issue on isn't the ballistic performance its that no matter what I shoot I always end up with 1 or 2 out of 100 rounds that don't fire. Ive got CCW pistols in other calibers that carrying a 22 for this reason doesn't make sense. I do carry a 22 revolver in the field for dispatching animals and love it for that purpose. If one doesn't go off Its a simple fix by pulling the trigger again. On an auto you gotta be on your game and clear the unfired round which could get a guy hurt if another gun is pointing at you. Thanks for watching!
I was fortunate enough to get myself and get my hands on the PSA dagger micro haven't shot that yet but I have a 43X which is basically the same it's the clone of the 48 and the 43X and the 43
Great review!! Thank you!!! I have this pistol and love it!!! To hear you say you "love this gun", especially the WAY you said it!!! Tickled my heart!!!
I have a G2C and a PT22, and a TX22. the only trouble I had was the PT22 FIRING PIN broke sent it to Florida and it came back brand new! No charge. Taurus is a lifetime warranty.
Both your failures on camera happened on the first round of the magazine. For whatever reason when you reload after the slide slams itself forward you then check the ammo and do a press check. I bet you if you stop taking it out of battery immediately after you just put it into battery you might have a lot less first round failures. Just my opinion. Worth a shot. I know you already know better than I do but if you can't take some constructive criticism than shame on you. There is no practical need to verify 1st round battery and I CAN guarantee you that It does not happen in a fire fight. Tbh it creates more problems than it solves. I truly believe the 2 failures on camera were operator imposed and not the weapon itself.
MkII is a fantastic gun. Ive found my sample to be very accurate also than the TX22. It has less mass that moves when cycling which I'm sure helps. It also feels more robust in hand. The only complaints I have on the MKII is its challenging to field strip and the grip angle.
Shit. Taurus is doing something right. I have the TX22 and the 740 Slim. Both are reliable and pretty accurate. Only a couple FTF after hundreds of rounds on the 740. Half a dozen FTF and Fire outta the TX. Both are great guns for the money. The TX is a fun gun to shoot.
Taurus goes through phases unfortunately. Some of their firearms are awesome and some of them suck. I've owned quite a few of them over the years and it's been a mixed bag. I had a pt92 that ran like a champ and I even did some practical pistol competitions at my local range with it. I had a .357 from them and within 100 rounds it started to have forcing cone problems to the point where it would burn me every time I pulled the trigger. I have a Taurus PT 38 and I love it, it's rather large for a 380 but it is super accurate and extremely reliable. I have a raging bull in .454 and it is a beast. On the other hand I got a Taurus G2c and it was extremely unreliable. All in all I would say you never know what you're going to get out of them. However it does appear that they have been putting a lot more effort into making sure their firearms are reliable. My buddy bought himself a Taurus G3 as his carry piece and he loves it, I have only put a few mags through that one but it was accurate and I had no problems with it.
Thanks for sharing. I agree that its hit and miss. I've been considering trying a G3. Ive been pretty dedicated to S&W over the years. Thanks for watching!
I'll be doing a head to head against a glock 44. Turns out my buddy has one. I have not seen the PPQ M2. Ill need to look that up. Thanks for watching!
FN 502 looks interesting. I really like the Cowitnessed sites with red dot and sight height for suppressor use. Im not a fan of the thumb safety but I think all hammer fired guns require one. I did run my suppressor on the TX22 and the sights were too low but was fun to plink. I'd did have a chance to run the Glock 44 side by side with the TX22 and preferred the TX22 by a good margin primarily due to the trigger. Thanks for watching!
I know that a lot of .22 pistols aren't supposed to be dry fired because of the striker (or something like that), is that still the case with this TX22? Thanks and great video!
Great question. As a general rule you should not dry fire any rimfire. The reason is the firing pin must strike the rim on the cartridge and without the cartridge the firing pin generally smacks the face of the barrel where the rim would sit both peening the barrel potentially causing feeding issues and/or causing a broken firing pin over time. Look at any used 22lr and you will generally see a little dimple on face of the chamber at 12 o'clock from this happening. In the case of the TX22 it was designed to prevent this from happening. Per the FAQ page on Taurus website "Dry firing a Taurus .22 pistol or revolver will cause damage to the firing pin. This does not include the TaurusTX™ 22 because it is designed to be dry fire safe" with that said im kind of old school and am uncomfortable dry firing a rimfire due to a lesson learned. I did break a firing pin many years ago on a lever action 22 trying to be a badass. My recollection was justice was swift when my dad got a hold of me.
@@ringsteeltv3179 Thank you the very in-depth reply! Very helpful and this helps confirm my next purchase decision. Hahaha everyone loves a good "my dad got a hold of me" story.
We're getting a lot of new shooters who know nothing about firearms except for brand loyalty which is foolish. Buy the gun that fits your hand. Buy the gun you need to use. I don't buy a product because the company gives away free t-shirts and hats.
Press checks for me is religious due to carrying daily. Its the only way to know with absolute certainty the gun is loaded. If a magazine is not seated correctly, has a weak or broken spring, or the follower has gotten jammed up it might not pick up a round releasing the slide. You will also notice I slap the back of the slide also to ensure it is fully in battery. If I need to pull the trigger I want to be certain a round is in there and the slide is locked forward. Although in this case its not necessary I make sure to do it everytime for muscle memory. I also press check before holstering a known empty gun in competition or practice, returning a empty gun to the safe or removing it, or anytime I pick up a pistol I know should be empty. TBH after all these years of shooting I don't even notice im doing it. Thanks for watching!
I'm confused. I just bought a Taurus tx22 today. Comes with what is said to be two 15 round magazines, and that is how many I was able to load in them. However, I am seeing all over the internet gun places selling magazines they are claiming are 16 rounds. Which is it? I seem unable to squeeze a 16th round into the magazines that came with my gun.
@@raybutts9133 not yet. I've only run them thru 3 or 4 loads so far. Love the tx22. Very accurate out to 25 yards (the limit of my local range) and using cheap, bulk hollow point ammo I've had 1 failure to feed in 300 rounds.
Yeah I know a controversial statement for sure. The reality is I wouldn't be in a situation where I didn't have either a knife or 9mm or larger on my person. More than 90% of the CCW engagements happen at distances less than 5 yards. At these distances some would argue that a knife is a far better choice regardless of caliber. The exception being an active shooter situation. The issue with .22lr is less about knockdown power as it is ammo quality. In every shooting session I have rounds that fail to fire and for me thats the real problem. The say dont talk about politics, religion or caliber selection :)
Thanks RSTV. Great job. Good info. Liked & subscribed. Does it fit your TP9 holster. I was surprised when mine snapped right into my MP9 holster. LETS GO BRANDON
You just reminded me of something I meant to add to the video 😃 I tried the TP9 holsters I have and others and nothing worked. I ended up buying this $20 kydex holster on Amazon for it and its been incredible. It snaps in positively and retention is perfect. Thanks for watching and subscribing! A man who doesn't like safety's on a gun is incompetent to use such a device. Ignorance is no excuse for ignoring gun safety. Machinal or between the ears! If too incompetent to use a safety, How the hell can I or anyone else trust you with a gun period? Much less with no safety?
First this review was boring and blah blah blah … I was close to stopping to listen be fore half way but tried to give it a chance. I have a TX22 and is a good pistol and have no problems. Wow
@4:11 yo who did that color fill? please stop using crayons and finger nail polish. are we children? use real paint, and buff it out. Im a bit triggered and dont know if i should continue watching.
I'm not sure what you are talking about? I've never used a crayon, fingernail polish, or even paint on any gun I own. I suspect you are talking about the wear on the slide from holster draws on the Chiappa where the factory painted that silly "don't kill yourself" warning? None of my guns are queens I prefer to see wear and tear. Lets me know who the real shooters are vs Gucci noobs who get triggered by looks. Function and accuracy is the only thing that matters everything else is a reason not to shoot.

I agree 100%. Never again.
A beer (🍺) every time Ring Steel says..."OK guys..." 😁 My TX22 is at least two years old, I luv it!!! OK, guys...? 🍺🤣
Thanks Bumpy. Yes completely agree ive been trying to get rid of "Ok Guys" and "ummm" Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
And umm.....
I would honestly have to question the ammo that mal-function
The only issue with the Tauruses that they do require 200 $250 round break in so if you do take it out new and you have problems give it time it'll clear itself out after 250 rounds they are solid
Mag dumps are hard to resist. Try Federal Punch 22lr for self protection. Might just change your mind.
You're not supposed to use high velocity rounds in the TX 22!
I have eaten crow twice, have two love them. First 22 auto since my 2 Walthers.
Great to know! I have been hearing good things on warranty. I've got over 2k down the tube now. Zero issues! Thanks for watching!
I truly believe the 2 failures on camera were operator imposed and not the weapon itself.
great review, thorough and fun to watch 👍
great video
Good review thanks I really like the taurus tx 22lr
Great vid and very thorough...ty enjoyed every min
Thanks Phil glad you enjoyed it!
My TX22 isn’t quite as reliable as my Ruger MkII, but loads of fun to shoot.
MkII is a fantastic gun. Ive found my sample to be very accurate also than the TX22. It has less mass that moves when cycling which I'm sure helps. It also feels more robust in hand. The only complaints I have on the MKII is its challenging to field strip and the grip angle.
@@ringsteeltv3179Agreed, disassembly isn’t nearly as easy as the Taurus
You can get a 5 round extension for total of 21 round
Yall notice how the impatient guys like like this take 1,2,maybe 3 shots THEN empty the mag in quick succession? Never fails.
Idk, my Taurus g3x bangs them out just fine. There are always lemons in everything I guess.
Clean before shooting. Gotta remove all that factory/manufacturing gunk.
That fly on your hand bothered me for a moment, swat that thing away
Glock 44 and ppq m2 5 inch 22lr no thumb safety
I'll be doing a head to head against a glock 44. Turns out my buddy has one. I have not seen the PPQ M2. Ill need to look that up. Thanks for watching!
i have and have owned many taurus pistols vand revolversnever had a bad one
Nice review, I’m also looking at the new FN 502!
I just went to Academy today and bought one TX22. Will see how it performs in the Range.
Taurus makes a 22 rounds magazine for TX22.
Great Video! You deserve way more subscribers!
Thanks for watching!
Hell my G2 has over 400 rounds through it never a problem not one and I've never even oiled it
I know that a lot of .22 pistols aren't supposed to be dry fired because of the striker (or something like that), is that still the case with this TX22?
What’s up with all the press checks? You done just charged the weapon
Great review.
Mine will both hold 16 but that last one is very tight in one of the mags. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel.
I'm only able to fit 15 in mine but I still purchased extra mags from taurus.
@@alcarey8084 HAS IT LOOSENED UP YET SO IT CAN HOLD THE FULL 16?
@@raybutts9133 not yet. I've only run them thru 3 or 4 loads so far. Love the tx22. Very accurate out to 25 yards (the limit of my local range) and using cheap, bulk hollow point ammo I've had 1 failure to feed in 300 rounds.
@@alcarey8084 Thanks for taking the time to reply
Mine said about 4.5 KG trigger pull weight...... which = about 10 pounds.... Are you sure you checked that correct?
Thanks for your review.
Mine has ambidextrous safety. Must be a newer model
Awesome review
Seriously, between a 22 and a knife, you would take a knife?
Yeah I know a controversial statement for sure. The reality is I wouldn't be in a situation where I didn't have either a knife or 9mm or larger on my person. More than 90% of the CCW engagements happen at distances less than 5 yards. At these distances some would argue that a knife is a far better choice regardless of caliber. The exception being an active shooter situation. The issue with .22lr is less about knockdown power as it is ammo quality. In every shooting session I have rounds that fail to fire and for me thats the real problem. The say dont talk about politics, religion or caliber selection :)
Pourquoi il n’y a pas de sécurité???
tous les Tarrus TX 22 ont une sécurité ambidextre, pourquoi celui-ci n’en a pas ?
Was told yesterday...can't get one in California...
That's not surprising in Cali
Thank you for video.
Glad you enjoyed it.
They made a compact in 2022
ill wait for the 9mm version
A 9mm version would be really cool. You could train .22lr and carry 9mm for cost savings. Thanks for watching!
Don't like .22s?
It's here.........called the G3C.
@@majoroz4876 g3c dnt have fixed barrel and red dot tho
beautiful gun 👍
You pick knife, I will pick .22 every time and show you not to bring a knife to gun fight!!!!!!!!
There very good guns
Thanks RSTV. Great job. Good info. Liked & subscribed. Does it fit your TP9 holster. I was surprised when mine snapped right into my MP9 holster.
LETS GO BRANDON
You just reminded me of something I meant to add to the video 😃 I tried the TP9 holsters I have and others and nothing worked. I ended up buying this $20 kydex holster on Amazon for it and its been incredible. It snaps in positively and retention is perfect. Thanks for watching and subscribing! I don't like a red dot on a pistol.
Lots of trouble with the src
.22 cal rounds are so inconsistent.
👎 to much nonsense talking and not getting to the review. Left after 4 minutes of nothing but yapping.
This is the best full size 22lr polymer in the market todate!
This reviewer is just a HATER and have WEAK MIND.
Isn't one of the commandments "Thou shall not love Taurus"
👍👌
7 minutes before we see the gun, just saying.
Wow
I'm just trying to buy a damn gun man don't let you get on this thing what the hell's going on
any gun would be better than that thing
Lol
Two minutes and you are still moaning and groaning..thought it was a gun review🤮
How do you buy it you got on this site Jesus ridiculous
