Nice concise review of the differences in GEN 2 vs. older model. I really like the more open slide upgrade. Looking at this vs. the P17 as my first 22LR. Thanks for the review!👍
Might actualy sell some shit to grab a tx22. Taurus sold me with the g3 toro. And I'm a huge fan of 22 lr and 22 mag. Also 22lr is very underrated for defense.. if u have something reliable and good ammo like cci stingers or velociters your good to go.
Very nice review. I have the original TX22 and I appreciate the comparison. I love the one I have but plan to try out the the new one when I get a chance. Have a blessed day 🙏.
A lot of people just swear by these pistols. I have a sig P322 to fill the 22 pistol role, but the Taurus sure does have a great reputation. Great review UT.
I got the original for $179 and a compact for $213 locally. Plus i got 3 mag rebate on both. So 2 pistols and 10 mags for $400. Im not a fan of all the slide cuts, but it is what it is.
Great video! Just picked up my Taurus tx .22 Gen 2. Do you know if there are dove tails out yet for the gen 2 non toro or would I have to cut the slide to get it optic ready?
Has the rear sight dovetail changed to a narrower slot? The rear sight looks like the one on the compact version. I don't own a tx22 yet but have a gen 2 on order and want to get the correct optics adapter plate to fit the gen 2 dovetail.
@@stevescott8491 The dovetail is the same as the compact. They do offer the optics ready model of this, might be a better way to go if you are going to run a dot.
Thanks for the reply. My problem is I live in the Socialist republic of Illinois. The non threaded, 13 round mag version that is legal here doesn't offer it with optics ready slide.
Great video, does the COMPACT model have the same bull barrell as the new full size one? I love the compact version , since I can use it as a EDC but not too keen having a worse barrell. Thanks!

Hey, few questions for you. Can you swap slides with the original? Is the slide strengthened in the front so it doesn't crack? What's the recoils spring like now?
The original slide and barrel will fit on the new frame. The slide is similar to the compact model, which I have not experienced any issues with. It's an upgraded recoil spring. I will show the internals when I make the next video on it.
Did you say that the 22 round mag doesn't come with it anymore? That was my entire reason I ordered this gun yesterday. I also noticed the 22 round mag is sold out everywhere
@@untacticaltexan I literally just put in a "claim" for the three free mags yesterday. Also, the Taurus website now how 22 round mags for sale again, so I bought a couple of those too. Plenty are ready to go now 🙂
Good in-boxing video. Help me out does the ejection port on that one look like the one on the competition? I have really been super impressed with the TX22s. TX22? I've had sights fly off, striker springs break, strikers snap, and slides BREAK And no, I don't run hot ammo.
