When i turn off the ignition key, the camera immediately goes off too. Looks like there is no battery in it so at least to do a safe shutdown or to register the last clip. Does anyone else has that issue?
I have one now in my car for 8 months and I truly missed it when I was driving a new car rental. The extra wide angle comes in version handy if you have change lanes rapidly. The night visibility is amazing. The bad part is you have to apply a hydrophobic sprayed on the rear camera lens because water does accumulate and make the image hard to see through the surface rain drops sometimes.
I wish I could get this but I have a truck. It can still work if I just put it in the cabin facing the back but I guess it wouldn't be worth it all that hassle. Better just to get tow mirrors.

I have the g850. Definitely mount that rear cam Outside. Just above the license plate it's practically impossible to detect even when you know it's there. I've used most other cams including Garmin and all were crap. The Wolfbox is the best I've seen in a decade. Get the optional power supply cable for 24hr recording parked. It's a great tool

As I've only made 1 pymt on my 2017 Ford C-Max Energi, I haven't quite gotten to the rear camera installation.....kinda dreading drilling into the frame of my hybrid. So far, the only issue I have had with the Wolf Box while only using front mounted on mirror is that I had it unplugged & off my mirror for a week due to in town only driving while doing DoorDash (most of town is 25mph zone) After a week unplugged & off, I had to reset the time & date. Not even a starter issue in my book. I love having it. A nephew saw it in use yesterday & thought it's pretty awesome, as having it show the camera view, he was able to see what I was seeing while driving, as he was sitting behind me in my car.
In this application 50/60 Hz is referring to the electrical cycle in a specific country. USA and Canada are 60hz, much of the world is 50hz. It’s not frames per second (frame rate) but rather it aligns your camera with the ‘frequency’ of electronic equipment/lighting so your camera doesn’t exhibit flicker or banding in the image from lights. You didn't mention what MODEL of Wolfbox 4k dash & backup camera this was? G930, G900, G840?? That would have been helpful as most of the Wolfbox cameras are 4k.
I was very impressed with this camera system so I ordered it for my 2010 Nissan Rogue. I plan on connecting it to my back up wiring. But I have yet to find a video on how it behaves when actually backing up. Is there a setting where the back up image automatically comes on when put in reverse?
The footage is stored in the SD card. Once you insert that SD card in your computer or mobile you can zoom in and do basically anything as you can with a normal video.
Half of my truck's harness is held together by wire nuts. You have to replace them once in a while, but I haven't had any other issues! It's a helluva lot cheaper than paying someone else to rewire my pickup! :3

Part 2.. so it’s been a few days having this new dash cam and it’s a definite upgrade from the Acumen XR 10 My very first drive with the Dashcam was rare Why..because that morning being true British weather 😂it’s was raining heavy . Now I’m no formula 1 driver but wow my vision was great the clarity is 👍 the next days ahead we’re great meaning weather wise. The night time vision is 💯% I like driving along peaceful roads at night but gotta admit I like the dash cam One thing one morning whilst driving to work I had to put my sun visor down.What you will notice is the wolf box Dashcam is wider This is something you will have to get use to so prepare yourself when those sunny moments return 🌞for now it’s ticking the right boxes. I would think the rearview camera should be mounted higher up. It's not so much a backup camera as it is for being a digital rearview mirror. As you're driving, you want that higher in oder to see more behind you and if you have a car close behind you, you can see over them better.

i hope the company build the front camera little longer so we can turn all the way to all angle the reason is that short people sit closer and not be able to see the camera better. but if we can adjust the screen face to us and the camera is still point straight then we are good. beside if the can build something to eliminate the brightness during nighttime with the headlight from the back and sunlight during the day then this camera is the world best dashcam ever. i love it just those issues

@@whitegptjetit has something to do with wiring to the reverse light positive. When there's current that activates the reverse light, that same current activates the camera.
Hz and FPS Two totally different things. 60 Hz refers to the refresh rate of the IPS panel, frames per second refers to how many individual single shots make up the fluid "Video" . Higher the refresh rate the more stable the picture will appear, but will not affect the quality of the video aside from how quickly the image will change, FPS, higher the FPS the clearer crisper and easier to slow down without loss of motion. :-) One thing to consider however is a 35mm Motion Picture (ie every movie made up until just about 2005) had a FPS of 24. Fluid motion video standard is 30 FPS, anything above is purely for aesthetics
I've had several of these mirror cams and love them. My last one is having issues after three years so I am considering this brand. Does the camera record 4k or some lower resolution when both cameras are recording? And how well does the GPS antenna work? I've been told they need to be installed on the exterior.
I may have missed in the video but when feeding the wires behind the airbag in the a-pillar, do you need to unplug the battery? Is there a chance of setting off the airbag if you don't unplug it? As well, what if you already have a backup camera installed in the car? Can the connections be similar? or does everything need to be re-wired? Thanks!
Airbags are overall stable. Only time they are a danger is when you add a power source to them. Shorting them out can absolutely cause them to inflate. We don’t disengage the battery when we work around them as long as we don’t have to touch the power connections for them directly. 🙂
Anytime you have concerns about airbags going off while doing work on any vehicle, just locate and pull the fuse out and replace after the work is completed, that will leave you confident that the airbags will not deploy.
Is it possible to save the angle of the camera in reversing mode only? I.e. the camera is pointed upwards during normal driving and when you go in reverse in points down?
In the title, it says back up camera, but you didn't really showcase the functionality of the backup camera in use. Why didn't you back into a parking space or something?
I just installed the GH40S for a youtube review as well and when the control menu comes up the "Play" and "Settings" icons are not highlighted so you cant press them. Have you ever had this issue?
Based on my experience with dashcams, not good. Sub zero temps killed two of my dash cams when they were left in the vehicle on sub zero days. They just stopped working. I would not spend the money on this if I lived in the North part of the US.
For advice/opinion purposes only… which one do you guys would give a better or stronger connection ? Being plugged in cigar port or a ground wire installation ?
The red wire at the tail end where you plug into the rear camera has to be tapped into the reverse wire of the car. When shift to reverse, the red wire energizes and signals the monitor to come on.
@@steve_Pkd I know it did that. I figured out the issue though. I wasn’t expecting it to be this either. Ok so the USB-C that plugs into the mirror, it needs to plug in from the left. If you plug it in and it’s from the right, you’ll get interior and front cam working, but the rear stay off. And the unit will randomly power off and on. As soon as you turn the wire around, it’s perfect.
I kinda do want a constant camera rear view when my Outback is stacked to the ceiling with cargo. In fact this is the only reason I'm seeing this video
@Kip Wylie I also want this to be just a digital rear view mirror for my van. It already has the reverse cam with active guidance from factory. I think if the camera is powered via the rear running light then it may provide that function. I have no interest in dash cam, front or rear.
Inside window is fine as long as you can rig it so that no light enters around the camera, otherwise you will get a reflection from the glass in the mirror.
@@zivyh939 from my experience it’s dark during the day, and at night you can’t even read the license plate. And this is through a clean window. But factory tinted glass is mostly okay (again night time is an issue). Camera quality, night vision, resolution, etc. are all factors.

In a car its 12volt dc voltage so there is no 60hz or 50hz so it might be the frame rate

DC doesn't use "frequency", it is direct power versus alternating.

Now if you get into accident and you're looking at the footage can you zoom in to someone's license plates to make the numbers out daytime and night

@StoneJack He's 100% correct, you should be using the backup camera as your rearview mirror as well. Do you not check your rearview or something?

His placement is good. You need to see how close his bumper is to the other bumper when parking.

Look like a basic red wire so you could butt-connect a longer wire if needed.

GPS works well and can be installed anywhere on windshield.
Camera records 4K in the front and 1080P in the back - stock setting.

Airbags are turned on only by g sensors outside cabin , unless u are going at it with a hammer , I would say no worries

You can easily dim the brightness of the back light at night and at the lowest there is no light in the car

Rule #1 plug in the system and test before running cables, mm G850 fresh out the box was DOA.
So the only way it will record while car is off. Is if you do the fuse install?

Cig lighter port can become loose or pulled out, so I would say hard wired with ground.

Never install the camera outside of the vehicle. Always mount it inside the rear window to ensure clearest visibility and also to keep it dry.

@@zivyh939 from my experience it’s dark during the day, and at night you can’t even read the license plate. And this is through a clean window. But factory tinted glass is mostly okay (again night time is an issue). Camera quality, night vision, resolution, etc. are all factors.

i have similar mirror with hardware buttons. No option in the settings for mirroring rear view. Do you think those with touchscreen all have the option?

I just bought one of these . I am a little concerned about fixing the rear camera to the outside . I have a landrover discovery and it has a large rear tailgate. Was thinking with all the opening and closing , that the camera would get damaged . Is the camera built that well to allow for this

Yes it does but that small box on the power wire has protection and it shuts down the camera under a certain voltage, so you can start the car
