Having owned this car for almost 3 years I go back and watch these type of videos to make sure I’m not missing anything I should be doing. These cars are amazing and I am so glad I built mine for me. I don’t try to race, I drive it daily and take it to mountain passes. Close to 100k and still going strong. Your videos definitely helped a ton!

I drove my 18 VA for 100,000 miles Cobb stage2+ 93 OTS. 130,000 miles total. Most important thing is how you drive it. I drove like a normal human and when I sold it to buy my VB it ran perfectly, never burned or lost any oil at all, and never had to fix a thing. Don't drive like a dummy.

Ran 370 to the wheel for a year and a half. Just fine. I have 86k miles and im back to stock because im selling it. The number 1 way to keep your car from taking a shit is oil change ever 3,500 miles hands down.

Seems like I am doing everything right so far. My 2014 wrx came with an aftermarket racing clutch, aftermarket rack & pinion, and I got an AEM Cold Air Intake (Carb certified) installed on there. ECU was flashed after install by ASE certified professionals. Right now focusing on body and suspension mods, but I will get a COBB accessport before I do anymore HP mods. Catless downpipes are illegal here so I would never get one. And lastly I get all my work done at a performance auto shop that's pretty reputable in my area. I've never had a car this fast before and I am focusing on making it feel more stable before I make it any more speedy at the moment.

Speaking as a wrx owner, fbo with stage 3 tune from Torque performance. Modify however/whatever makes you happy. Ofcourse supporting safety mods for your power gains is highly recommended. Drive safe ya'll.

Just got a Premium Red 2020 WRX. It will be my daily driver. Just want to do a few minor modifications.
Remote start, mud-flaps, paint protection, radar detector, interior camera, security system upgrade. AOS, cold air intake, full exhaust kit and nice tires for the summer. I’m not lovering the WRX because the roads are horrible where I live. Heard about Cobb tuning to stage 1 but I don’t want to void the warranty.

    • @WRXGarage

AOS, and egr delete will both add reliability, but the best thing you can do is get a protune! A good protune will basically add the most reliability possible over anything else! It does void warranty as well though.

Sup Boiz from Sault Ontario Canada, I appreciate this video so much! I've heard about doing most of the things you guys mentioned doing and I'm going to work on them for sure.
I've had my 2015 Subaru WRX for 3 years now. There's only 1 mod I want to say that in my opinion is extremely important even if you wanna stay stock:
RUN A MACH 2 GFB DEVERTER VALVE.
I had a lot of boost lag, throttle response was terrible and biggest thing was the stock diverter you could blow through it with your lips.
Get a new diverter valve. Also should mention, the boomba, is NOT reliable. I had a boomba, sounds cool but I had a lot of inconsistent idle. Swapped to a MACH 2 GFB Diverter, miles different. Even some exhaust pops with everything stock.

    • @WRXGarage
      @WRXGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

You don't need one, but our cars are very sensitive to any change in the air intake. That's why we can't use random air filters. Technically I could be safe to run an aftermarket IC without a tune, but I absolutely doubt that the car wouldn't see a DAM drop or something like that. Plus, without a tune you wouldn't actually see any benefits other than a larger mass for less heat soak.

New to this Subaru community as I have owned Hondas and Nissans and this video helps put everything at ease for me. I was lucky to pick up a used 2020 WRX Premium from my local Subaru dealership with 32k miles on it. I did purchase a powertrain extended warranty because I know how fragile these cars are but I do want to modify it to have a good amount of HP for a daily. I’m willing to risk “voiding” it if it’s gonna help make my car reliable. Everything is stock from what the sales person said( and I checked everything) only has an axle back. What would be some good mods for a daily? I’m looking at 300-310 WHP.
    Again awesome video!

Honestly.. I really disagree with people who think these cars are fragile.. watch some of my track videos where I'm redlining it in 100⁰ air temp for multiple 2+ mile laps haha.. I truly think there's just a lot of people out there who 1. Don't do their maintenance 2. Don't let the car warmup correctly or 3. Don't use the right tune for the right parts. If you avoid all 3 of those and don't moneyshift you should be fine haha.
For parts: COBB Accessport and their stage 2 package. It'll be 50 states legal and you don't need a protune. I'd also suggest aftermarket brake pads and coilovers

95% of cars on the road are less than 250hp easily. No tune needed for catback because you won't see any power difference, the only restriction in the wrx exhaust is the downpipe off the back of the turbo. You don't put a tune on for an aos unless you're running a very specific track model.

Changed by the dealership, and it took 6 weeks before I got it back. Then had to change the harness at 66,000 kms, and set me back 2500$ due to the warranty . Check engine “ on “ , and the dealership could not figure it out !!! I bought the OBD2 , and it was a misfire on cylinder no.3 !!! Then they figured it out that the injector was defective. Brakes are full of shit on the wrx’s, and set me back 2000$ on brakes pads, and discs. Another thing happened , knocking !! The dealership told me to put 94 octane instead of 91. This sets me back 100$/week.Then , just 3 weeks ago, y transmission finished at 88,000 kms. Dealsership changed my transmission with 2021 due to the warranty of up to 160,000 kms. They were trying to find any excuse to see if I did not modify the car .That took only 5 days . Change oil every 4000 kms. This is my 18th car in 25 yrs, and let me tell you that the best car for the money, was ACURA, and my TOYOTA !!!! The best. Subaru, it’s a different story !!! Worst fuckn car, and my Hyundai !!!
