The thing with Sinatra was that he was extremely sensitive about the Johnny Fontane character. Even in the unauthorized biography by Kitty Kelley the rumors of Willie Moretti getting Sinatra the part in "From Here To Eternity" were pretty intense. I can see Sinatra being insistent about tanking the film.
Hey, we agree on that! Problems START at the top and trickle down the system. If you've got bad leaders, the whole system is a mess, no matter if it's government or businesses, or anything where someone's in charge. But people like that thrive on keeping the people below them fighting each other, so they don't turn on the leaders.

Speaking of Mario Biaggi, I grew up in his district and he was a good man, a real patriot and I believe, still the most decorated Police Officer in NYPD history. My Dad knew him personally and he was good friends with our attorney whose office was right down the block from his there on Williamsbridge road. What is most incredible to me is how much his party has changed for the worse. Congressman Biaggi was a democrat and now look at who his replacement is, ocasio-cortez.
I also grew up in Mario Biaggi's Congressional District in the Bronx, and I met him on many occasions both during his tenure in Congress, and after he left office. He was a decent man who always looked out for the needs of his constituents, and helped them out whenever he could. I didn't care for the way he way depicted in "The Offer", as he was made to look like a bully. Although he was a Democrat, he supported most of the programs of the Republican presidents who served during his term in office in the '70s and '80s. It's a shame that the Democratic Party has been radicalized by left wing kooks.
My mothers the same age as you Michael, she’s constantly saying how she never thought her last days would be like this with all the chaos and corruption in this country.

I wouldn't put too much faith that point 2 would really happen, those that leave the Mafia by doing the right thing are all either under escort or had their identities changed. The Italian police officers that investigate the Mafia instead have all their identities concealed, although a talk with Comandante Alfa and Capitano Ultimo two former Carabinieri that dedicated their lives to fight the Mafia would be good.

I came across last weeks commentary, before the 4th episode was released. I had seen Coppola’s documentary on this movie. I had no idea that this series was n works…. Because I saw the previous video, I binge watched the whole series back to back. Absolutely love this series and the inside of the inside events portrayed. GREAT STUFF. I have the entire dvd collection and this gives me another reason to rewatch them… esp Part 2.

I got a kick how Sonny Grosso had two parts in The Godfather. First, he was the Detective outside the hospital who tells McClusky that Michael was a war hero. Then he played one of the Barzini shooters of Sonny at the tollboth.
The Offer is one FANTASTIC series!! This is a must-see for any mob movie fan or anyone interested in the mafia. Like Michael says, all the actors are top-notch.

You did it to me again! I had no interest in watching this but now I guess I have to. But it's a good thing. You haven't steered me wrong yet. By the way, my son graduated in 2013. A few years before that, he came home and ask me about the Mafia and so on. I never let that be discussed around him for obvious reasons and there are not a lot of Italians where we live. Maybe I was wrong? Anyway, I asked him where he had heard such a thing and he said a TEACHER ask him if his family was involved! Are you kidding me? ( A short time later, I had a discussion with this teacher. He apologized) I think at it's height, the Syndicate had maybe 5000 members? There are 40 million Italians in this country. But, like you said, people STILL feel that way. Anyway, God Bless and stay safe.
@@Roc_Official His teacher actually ask him if his family was connected. The boy was only 12 or 13 and had no idea what the teacher was saying. That is when the teacher decided that he would explain how a lot of people thought Italians were shady, at the least. You can imagine the conversation that the teacher and I had. Sometimes in situations there are good people on both sides of an issue. Everyone has a reason for why they have a certain view.

@@Roc_Official His teacher actually ask him if his family was connected. The boy was only 12 or 13 and had no idea what the teacher was saying. That is when the teacher decided that he would explain how a lot of people thought Italians were shady, at the least. You can imagine the conversation that the teacher and I had. It was fairly one sided.
