The thing with the Sopranos is kind of weird, because they did point out in the show, that Tony was visiting Dr. Melfi in secrecy, and he did not want anyone to ever find out, for exactly the reason mentioned. When Junior and Phil Leotardo found out, they wanted to whack him straight away, so I would not call this whole thing "unrealistic", if I am making sense.

@@vlk2395 no, theoretically speaking, a serial killer is someone who kills multiple times to satisfy a certain abnormal *psychological* gratification. Mob bosses order hits for the benefit of the mob, which only makes them murderers.
The fact that Tony would get killed if people found out that he was seeing a psychiatrist was the main plot point of the first season. There are multiple attempts on his life for this reason
The Sopranos is also about a mafia from the 2000s, and at that time the Cosa Nostra was much less organized than in the Franzese era, so I think the fact that Tony sees the psychiatrist is purposely done to show how the mafia was ruined in those days.
It's just a literary-device, a way of having us listen to Tony's internal struggles, but it's done extremely well. I think the Sopranos is high art and is in its own way like those extraordinary, large paintings by the old masters.
It's because Gallo was part of the same Columbo Family. One question I had was why did he walk through the front door and then back by the kitchen and then come back to shoot Gallo? I had heard that the killers came from the back door through the kitchen and then hit Gallo.

Stress.. Maybe. But prison has a way of preserving peoples youth rather than aging someone. The time your in there your smoking very very little, if at all, same with alcohol drinking. Ive known a few guys who come out after years looking young as hell for their age
I respect the fact that he knows and points out the errors in movies but still is able to enjoy and appreciate these films. Something us history buffs have to remember sometimes.
Silencers/suppressors are literally the exact same technology as a car muffler. It's a round metal tube with baffles on the inside that trap the expanding gases and slow them down and it slightly muffles the sound. If you're using subsonic ammunition, it will be alittle quiter yet because the bullet is not breaking the sound barrier but it's still louder than you think. If you're using supersonic ammunition which is most ammo, the bullet is traveling so fast it's still breaking the sound barrier and you will get a loud booming and cracking bullet noise even with a suppressor. The initial report will be muffled alittle bit which is nice for the shooter but down range it is still gonna have that loud cracking bullet noise. That is the bullet breaking the sound barrier and its still very loud. Suppressors/silencers are cool and nice but not as cool as the movies portray them and they should not be as regulated by the government as much as they are.
recoil53 this really isn’t true. I live in hunting country. Rifles, shotguns, handguns, etc. all have different volume levels. Hell even between two rifles, a .22lr is quiter than a .223, or a .22lr is much louder out of a pistol than a rifle. How much that’d matter in a city setting? Not sure. But they are certainly not the same volume.

"I've never seen The Simpsons in my life." ... I mean, racketeering, robbery, various forms and levels of violence, etc. is one thing, but that's the true crime here.
And there were so many better Fat Tony scenes they could have shown him.
That main comment 😂😂😂
At least it sounds like he's interested in watching it for the mob scenes now...
Well, I'm 54 and I've never seen it either.
it's running sunday, sunday is holy family day for the mob.
He looks like the kind of guy who would say “hey, I took care of that thing for ya”
more like "I HAD that thing taken care of for ya" but yes lol
he did take care of *a lot* of things back on the day...
😂😂😂😂
You mean he looks like the kind of guy who people tell “I took care of that thing for ya”
So he looks Like Pete The Killer?
I love watching these videos where someone who lived the life, gives their thoughts and opinions regarding the movie and tv interpretations of the mafia. It was very interesting to listen to his opinions. Especially since the Simpsons ranked higher than the Sopranos, that is good stuff. Great video!!
He's out of the game, no need to go hunt him, Batman
Just watched Goodfellas again yesterday and never noticed he said "Mikey Franzese" when he was naming all the guys in the beginning. Pretty cool
I just noticed that not too long ago as well! I've seen Goodfellas so many times, going back to the 1990's! And I never noticed that until recently!
They added him to that scene because he was a high profile name in the news in late 80s. He did run into them now and again at that time though.
Probably because they mispronounced his surname intentionally
@@takerdust Watch Sonny's Family Hates Me!
@@kajiwara8324 i don’t know if they really did intentionally, Sammy is also calling franchese during their podcasts.
Yea
Everybody knew that Tony was seeing a shrink. Even Carmine talked to him about it.
@@gothic2fanHUN but he did explain it like it is which is the therapist cant say anything about what you said outside the room much like a lawyer
It came out after Tony had power. Thats why he never got whacked.

Just to think that this guy was one of those badass bosses in the movies
He was an earner not a hitman calm down he made money and not off hits
@@comicz_the_7god He was an incredible earner, but we don't know about the hitman side, because unlike Sammy the Bull, he can't be free to talk about a lot of that stuff in public as he doesn't have protection. The most he will say is he had to be involved in some "violent" things. We don't know what that might have entailed.

I met Mr. Franzese a few years ago when he premiered "God The Father." His stories are amazing, and he was incredibly nice.

@@vicentekokaly322 yep exactly!
It's just a literary-device, a way of having us listen to Tony's internal struggles, but it's done extremely well. I think the Sopranos is high art and is in its own way like those extraordinary, large paintings by the old masters.
The only problem is I would gather realistically hus own crew would have turned on him. That's liability to big to ignore.
Yeah but his point is they never would be in the first place.

It's because Gallo was part of the same Columbo Family. One question I had was why did he walk through the front door and then back by the kitchen and then come back to shoot Gallo? I had heard that the killers came from the back door through the kitchen and then hit Gallo.
I have been listening to all of Michael’s interviews that I can find the last couple months and I could listen to this guy tells stories for hours. If I see a new video with him talking I’m clicking.

Brian Rose you’ve probably seen it already but his interview with Patrick bet davis is the best ive seen of him

Pretend I did that in a pretend Italian mobster accent even tho idk how to do that accent
Maybe it's the stess and prison that gave him this youthfull look??
No. He likely wouldn't.
His father is 102 years old still alive, that's something to think about.
Stress.. Maybe. But prison has a way of preserving peoples youth rather than aging someone. The time your in there your smoking very very little, if at all, same with alcohol drinking. Your sleep schedules always good cause what else you going to do and your only eating very minimal junk food, no fast food either. Ive known a few guys who come out after years looking young as hell for their age

Such a badass quote
If you've ever been to a gun range, the part about all guns being loud is true. You know the difference from the pitch of the sound, not the volume.
@@recoil53 besides silencer should only dim the barrel sound not the chamber
