      Christians in particular shouldn’t be entertaining themselves by watching it , I don’t know if ur a Christian or not ..? but didn’t Jesus warn us to guard our hearts with all diligence and to be mindful what we let into our hearts? he warns us that our eye’s and ears are the gateway into our souls! My father - a Japanese immigrant in the US - used to always say how much he loved both Godfathers I & II, and passed down some of his love for cinema to me. He’d say that when I was older we should watch together, as a father / daughter experience, and I was so looking forward to that. Sadly he passed when I was still young, but after I eventually watched both films I felt like I understood a little more about my dad, who may have also modeled or perhaps melded some of his personal philosophies with that of Don Corleone. In any event, this was such a wonderful video, I loved how passionately you broke down the details and conveyed how meaningful this film became to so many people! You’re right, this film is so monumental, I think it’ll continue to find an audience and be “discovered” for many more generations to come. ❤

    So many brilliant scenes in this movie. One of my favourite ones is where the Don has gotten old and dotty and he's advising Michael in the garden. Perfectly acted by Brando.

      @deepg7084 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That is such a good scene. Vito keeps advising Michael what he needs to do and Michael just says "I got it, pop. I already did that". It really emphasized how Michael had taken the steering wheel of the family, and Vito had stepped back.

    As my father used to say...”It’s easier to do business with someone you’ve already done business with”.
    My number one client fired our intermediary in March of 2019. Now, I was taught to always give a good client a reason to come back to you. Subsequently, I spent over an hour to craft the right , short five sentence text expressing how I understood the reason for the firing of the general contractor and that my door was always open if they needed help within my field of expertise. Less than 2 months later, not only did this international client rekindle the relationship, our scope of work increased over 200%
    I definitely have burnt bridges in my day, but it’s always been someone I KNOW I never want to deal with again. Everyone else is a future friend or client that I already know, so I make sure the door is open to come back.
    Love the content, Michael. Thx!

    I cannot watch this movie/ scene without thinking about my dedo. He came from Macedonia when he was 13 in the 50s not knowing a word of English - and ended up establishing the first Macedonian Orthodox Church in Canada, even had a connection with Tito - who I’m sure you know. He commanded a room just like Don Vito - with a little more warmth and kindness, but his demeanours, nuances and posture is almost identical. It almost brings tears to my eyes - he even looked a lot like Brando. Brilliant, Brilliant film as well. Beautiful video Michael - god bless.

    I could listen to Michael Franzese all day! He’s so calm and grounded and reassuring. All I know about the mob is what I see in the movies, and from his podcast, but that doesn’t make any difference. I don’t hold his past against him. He’s been to the pinnacle of success and the depths of hell and came through it all with his dignity and his sanity intact. I see what he means about the way his father carried himself and the way he carries himself and how on the streets that earned him respect. To me he’s a role model of how to be a good man. I’d love to see him in person if I get the chance.

    Great analysis. Respect and networks are usually more valuable, than a bisnesplan, gun or even money. And as we saw in Oscars, it takes years to gain respect/success, but it can be gone in a moment. So love Denzels quote "at your highest moment, devil sneaks on you"

    Another thing Vito mentions to Bonasera is that they would fear him. For fear is a very useful and powerful tool. Sad, but true.

    “I believe in America.” It’s such a spectacular opening scene. The guy who played Bonasera was an Italian actor called Salvatore Corsitto, and it’s remarkable how little information there is about him. Guy doesn’t even have a Wiki page, but was certainly a great actor since he really impressed Brando.
    One of many scenes I love to reenact when no one’s looking, along with the classic mirror scene in Taxi Driver, Jack Nicholson pulling a gun on the bartender in the Last Detail, and many others.

    Mr. Franzese's pointer on networking is very true. I picked up that skill from my father, and I'm damn good at it. Unfortunately, I've learned first-hand to never burn a bridge and to also know how to return a favor. Negotiation is never a one-way street. It's a give and take process that can occur over a lifetime. This video is right on target.

    Cannoli (the cat) wasn’t in the script or planned. Apparently he just showed up on set, and Brando picked him up.

    The cat that Vito is petting is actually a stray that hung around the set. It was totally friendly and since Marlon Brando loved cats, Coppola decided to bring the cat into the picture. Rule #12 Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street. - Jordan Peterson

    Your discussions always seem to be very relevant to the events taking place now. I liked Godfather 1, 2 was okay but 3 was way off course. I have been a mental health therapist for 37 years and have told people not to burn bridges as you may need their help some time, or maybe never but they should not speak I'll about you. Positive strokes gets more done than negative. My grandmother's always say please and thank you when someone does something for you. And I tell my grandchildren that all the time. Thank you for reviewing the movie, it helped to clear up a few questions that I had.

    Mario Puzo's book came out when I was in college. I was a Poli Sci major and had read Machiavelli's "The Prince". I saw numerous parallels between the 2 works. Puzo told the lessons in a much more relatable 20th century narrative. I have never reread "The Prince", but have reread "The Godfather" several times. GREAT LESSONS!

    Best scene was the Sit Down with a 5 families. The “I want to bring my Son home and clear him of all these false charges….” Those lines were epic! “ If he’s to hang himself in his jail cell, or if he should be killed by a bolt of lightning… then I’m gonna blame some of the men in this room, and that I do not forgive.” Epic movie, epic everything!
