The pianist was Anthony Burger, who tragically passed away from a sudden heart attack at 46. Look him up, he has an amazing story. He fell on a radiator as a baby, and had severe burns to the palms of both hands. Doctors doubted he would ever recover full use, but by the time he was three, he would come home from church and pick out the melody of hymns by ear. He was touring with some of the biggest southern gospel bands by the time he was 15, he is very missed. There's a lot of great clips of him, though, he was an unbelievable talent.
It's super sad how he passed too, while doing something that he absolutely loved doing, playing the piano. He was aboard a cruise with the Gaithers, and soon enough, they looked over, and saw that he had froze, with his knuckles and hands over top the keys. Really, really sad.

I saw him and the rest of the Gaithers group of musicians many years ago in concert. I had not heard of him until that night. To say he had an impact on all attending the concert is putting it mildly. I never get enough of hearing him sing ESP gospel music!! I just love how you were touched by his music/voice/spirit.

I had the privelige to see a Gaither Christmas concert in Worcester Mass about 10 years ago. David did this song and you could hear a pin drop in a building of 16,000 people and i saw an awful lot of people wiping tears from their eyes.

I had the privilege and honor of seeing David Phelps and The Gaither group in concert. I had front row seats with my family. He was less than 20 feet away when he sang this song as well as others. When he sang this song and it moved me to tears. I honestly feel God was part of David when he sang this song.

David is absolutely amazing. I went to Gaither Christmas concert in December 2000 & heard him sing this song live. Never in my life had someone's voice give me goose bumps or touched my soul the way he did that night. I have been a Phelps Phan ever since. I have been lucky enough to see him in concert so many times over the years that I've lost count. If you ever get an opportunity to see him in concert..do yourself a favor & go. You will be in awe the entire time. He is funny, humble, down to earth, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

I have seen him several times when he was with the GVB and also as guest artist for the Christmas concerts. You know he's about to sing *Oh Holy Night* when the lights are dimmed and you can see a shadowy figure standing behind the piano. The audience usually gasps. Have you been to any GVB concerts? I had the privilege and honor of seeing David Phelps and The Gaither group in concert. I had front row seats with my family. He was less than 20 feet away when he sang this song as well as others. When he sang this song and it moved me to tears. I honestly feel God was part of David when he sang this song.

To David’s song, your reaction was THEE BEST. David is a friend of mine, and he is one of the most respected singers in the business today!! Great reaction my friend. I went to Gaither Christmas concert in December 2000 & heard him sing this song live. Never in my life had someone's voice give me goose bumps or touched my soul the way he did that night. I have been a Phelps Phan ever since.
I have been lucky enough to see him in concert so many times over the years that I've lost count. If you ever get an opportunity to see him in concert..do yourself a favor & go. You will be in awe the entire time. He is funny, humble, down to earth, and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
So glad that you watched this....I have seen David 11 times now live in concert, and in my opinion, after listening to music for over 50 years, I believe he is the best male vocalist alive today. I have met him, been to his home for concerts in his barn and I have never heard anyone with the incredible range, purity, tone and power that this man possesses. He is truly the best male vocalist on the planet. many, many thousands of David's fans feel the same way. And BTW, he is very humble and gracious and meets with his fans after each concert...

I wonder if David and Lori would notice a strange lady hanging out near the barn doors for a few months -- haha! I have seen him several times when he was with the GVB and also as guest artist for the Christmas concerts. You know he's about to sing *Oh Holy Night* when the lights are dimmed and you can see a shadowy figure standing behind the piano. The audience usually gasps. Have you been to any GVB concerts? Bill Gaither is one of my heroes. The world is definitely made better with his presence. I'm not sure Lyle realizes what he has done by opening the David floodgates :*))

I really believe David is the best vocalist I have ever heard and when I am there live, he is better than when recorded...that is opposite of most singers. Not him...

David is one of my all time favorites! He does appear off and on with the Gaither Vocal Band, but is also a solo artist. I've been lucky to see him live several times - always jaw dropping.
