I know it's just a coincidence, but I was talking to Misha before one of their shows last year and I mentioned that it would be awesome to see some of his earlier work fleshed out on one of their albums in the future. I specifically mentioned Absolomb, and now it is track #8 on the forthcoming album Select Difficulty. FeelsGoodMan.
Imagine knowing this song from when it first came out on Misha's soundclick, absolutely loving it for over seven years and just daydreaming about what Spencer would be able to do with it if it ever made it to a Periphery album. And then they day finally comes and not only is it amazing, it's been extended with the riff from the Fast Ones. I'll be honest, for about a month the hype that I'd built up for this song kind of made the end result a bit of a disappointment for me, but I kept listening and the more I listened the more I felt like it couldn't have been better than how it turned out. This album in general was definitely a grower for me. And I love it more every time I listen to it again. Cheers
I'm listening to this in 2017 and still enjoying the hell out of it. Periphery obviously improved from the time when this was released, but still it shows how Misha's dedication made Periphery so amazing nowadays. I've recorded over 20 songs in my room using my apogee maestro, a 7 string Kiesel, and a precision drive pedal. I'm fourteen and I hope one day I can amount to how amazing Bulbs originals were when he started recording
Um the first periphery album was all bulb demos. "Bulb" is just mishas nickname bulb isn't a band these are basically periphery demos and random recordings from way back in the day.
such sick chords in the intro. I love the contrast between that ambient, almost jazzy, mysterious sounding chords and that brutal rhythm guitar under it.
Probably one of the very first songs that got me into listening these guys' stuff, with Füf. I like how they reinterpreted this one on their new album!
Zach Lunde LOL wat is this dude snortin'? the one in the final song has way btr flow and motions this one feels like a place holder solo which it was.. but thats all subjective i guess
Haven't heard the new album. It is just plain odd to me what people deem a good solo. This is obviously a very good solo. I'll dong slap both you knuckleheads in this war of solos if I have to! (I kid)
Wow, i remember seeing this when it had 10k views, i had somehow forgotten about it and stumbled across bulb's soundclick on my favorites then immediately remembered this song. A masterpiece!
@DrDreamTheater It's a way of mixing the guitars to spike at certain frequencies and get that tight punchy distortion that a lot of bands are into these days, my best example being periphery.
i really like this song. they dont really have any bad songs, but this is something i hope they bring along for the next album. and The Fast Ones, even though thats a little different than what they usually do.
Music - an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. (The definition from many source that is most recognized.) AND I can say with full confidence that there are rap songs out there that don't follow this definition at all.
Man, i remember seeing this when it had 5k views. Good to see that more and more people are listening to older periphery(not that their new stuff is bad, i just prefer their older works)
im staring at my dog right now, he's staring back at me, we are both nodding our heads, he wont look away, as much as I know about his world, that's how much he knows about mine, I need some gatorade and tacos
This is the best version to me but I always enjoyed the demos Misha released way back during myspace days. Most have a clean simple sound to them and not over produced.
@duchashes Yeah, I like that one more because it makes more sense than a word describing a sound of the guitar. Example: I listen to "distortion" or "natural harmonics" or "djent". But, I dont think it would be wrong to call it jazz metal, or technical / progressive metal either, I'm just saying different people can associate music to different (or similar) genres depending on their experiences. As long as it makes sense it should be ok.
@RIPGLITCH Yes, but this was actually written and recorded by Misha Mansoor (guitarist of Periphery). This song isn't really by Periphery, just Misha. And he programmed the drums.
@4whitesharpEz Appreciate it man. thanks. been listening to animals as leaders, and periphery a lot. but cant find anything from vildhjarta besides on here. a shame cuz they sound awesome. I'll check out the others. Thanks again.
I second that! I wish they would explore more innovative sounds like this more often. Not to diminish the quality of the upcoming album, but songs like this are far more interesting to me than zyglrox or Light. This song expands into more unfamiliar territory than the songs that will soon be released on the upcoming album. I wish the Instrumental CD had songs like this and Late, stuff they havent touched in a while, but re-recorded and updated to better quality.
@CavatinaTV I totally agree with you Cavatina. It's very subjective. I've been listening to Meshuggah, Gojira (couple of years now), Periphery and a lot of other Metal bands and I'm many times lost on what genre to put them in. I think it's just not as easy to put something in just one category. I just read up on the whole djent thing today and I was like... meh, I dont liek this word. I'm not gonna use.
@lenlee14 Thats pretty much how i feel, with lyrics it is giving its own interpretation of something, with instrumentals you can build your own fantasies, your own little worlds in which you control what is happening, all while being influenced by the wonderful music that is flowing through your ears. You couldn't have said it any better mate!
@davethehostage Sound is relative in space due to the ability to perceive sound. We perceive it through our ears/drums and biological form. Radio waves and transmissions and sub-sonic frequencies of thousands of degrees travel through space; all of which can be picked up by various non-organic devices. To say sound cannot be in space -- for any reason -- is ignorant.
@LINKENSSPHERE You words themselves are like music to my ears; I can't wait for the new albums, and I can't wait to hear Spencer's majesty on this track. :D
@iwilleatyou7678 yeh I have all their songs on my phone actually . And the guitarist, Tosin Abasi, is phenomenal . Listen to CAFO by them . Great band .
HOLY SHIT THIS IS GOING ON P3!!! FUCKING HYPE UP EVERYBODY
Best song on PIII. Fucking insane.
tfw Not Enough Mana is still not a Periphery song. :I
It's definitely way worse since they added vocals, but then again that's every Bulb song that gets released under Periphery lmao.
Dude he's been doing that since the first album.
Would be awesome to hear Oxmodius then
+ex3m1024 Won't hear that one cause he hates it and honestly I don't see how it could translate
DeOrestes Tbh, the Oxmodius should stay as it is, without vocals, but my ear demands a studio-quality version with a sufficient bitrate :)
ex3m1024 It would be awesome if all his songs got re-recorded remastered just for the sake of it yeah haha
7 years later it got onto a masterpiece
Spencer sounds absolutely incredible over this track, couldn't have done it better..
Well, I'd give you a cookie for effort, but I don't think much effort was given.
I have the album.. lol
The entire album leaked already?
Yeah man, like a day after 'The Price is Wrong' came out. Best album they've done so far, in my opinion.
My apologies, figured it'd was another jab at Spencer 😅
Imagine knowing this song from when it first came out on Misha's soundclick, absolutely loving it for over seven years and just daydreaming about what Spencer would be able to do with it if it ever made it to a Periphery album. And then they day finally comes and not only is it amazing, it's been extended with the riff from the Fast Ones. love the finished song but the demo just has this really cool vibe to it
Definitely slightly different but all aspects considered I prefer the final
Sounds awesome, reminds me of Darude - Sandstorm alot
Really? Sandstorm? hmm......
+Minardus van der Kooi You have a problem. lol
totally different JAJAJAJAJA
You must be kidding my friend.
I think.... You're having a stroke
Damn, I never heard this until P3 came out this week! Misha writes the most amazing ambient metal tunes.
That title, I can't tell if it's a play on "absolute", "coulomb", "epsilon" or all three
Well it is periphery. Which means its probably none of those and has nothing to do with anything our minds can think of.
I think you might have hit it on the head.
Perhaps the solo is in Ab?
Ab-solo-mb
Just call it, "GROOVIN'"
maybe holcomb xd
I am so hyped for the P3 edition of this!
trust me it is glorious
I cant belive that this song is on PIII with changes... Bulb is a fucking genius of music
Please....please please...put this on the next album...don't care if it became another song...this intro is too beast to not produce
TO ALL WHO STILL DO NOT KNOW:
This song is by Bulb.
Not Periphery.
Dont get me wrong, Periphery is still an amazing band, though. :)
As of 1 hour 45 minutes ago, it is a Periphery song! \m/ \m/
Um the first periphery album was all bulb demos. "Bulb" is just mishas nickname bulb isn't a band
these are basically periphery demos and random recordings from way back in the day.
Nah bruh bulb totally stole this from periphery
@@blueskythinking4745 negative ghost rider. many of these songs were written and recorded before the name periphery was conceived of.
David McDonald no not really.. the name periphery has been around since ‘05.. most of his online demos were recorded from 2004 to 2009
such sick chords in the intro. I love the contrast between that ambient, almost jazzy, mysterious sounding chords and that brutal rhythm guitar under it.
I love both versions, but this is my favorite of the two. Might be cuz I've listened to it for like 10 years lol
This is really turns any average car stereo to its max limit, tests built quality and amount of plastic used. :-)
Probably one of the very first songs that got me into listening these guys' stuff, with Füf. I like how they reinterpreted this one on their new album!
LOVE their instrumental stuff, and LOVE their vocal stuff.
PIII brought me here
I'm already picturing spencer singing over this and OMG
I have a feeling it might be an instrumental
I have p3.. Spencer's vocals on this song are very reminiscent of p2 he really brings the song to life.
+defyne actually no the album was emailed to me a couple of days ago.. This was before the album leaked
+defyne I've got the email to prove it dipshit.
+defyne lmao
i like how the clean tone is similar to Killswitch Engage. Them dudes can jamm foo.
after 3 years listening to this song, i didn't even have a glimpse of boredom to it. This is definitely the best song ever IMO
It's going on P3 \m/
2:35 - 3:10 - Sheer epicness. It defines what Prog Metal is all about. \m/
Misha's new solo shits all over this. he's gotten so much better
You high brah?! ;) This was literally his best solo, and still is his best solo. Backing guitars and stuff are just perfect as well.
+Zach Lunde lol the solo in this version sounds rough, It totally does not fit the song. Misha has had WAY better solos than this. This is nothing
Brandon I don't agree! Does not fit the song? HERETIC! ;)
(I kid)
Simply Amazing
P3 HYPE! I can't fucking wait to hear what Spencer will sound like on this song!
It's funny how it's so chill, yet you can get headaches from bobbing your head so much to it.
Beast one!
Wow, i remember seeing this when it had 10k views, i had somehow forgotten about it and stumbled across bulb's soundclick on my favorites then immediately remembered this song. A masterpiece!
@drumspell Both, basically. It started as 1 guy in his bedroom and is now a multilabel signed, international-touring group.
Can confirm that the P3 version of this is incredible. Just wow.
Cool intro. Like ambient ethereal metal.
Damn these drums sound weird after getting used to the drums on the P3 version.
@DrDreamTheater It's a way of mixing the guitars to spike at certain frequencies and get that tight punchy distortion that a lot of bands are into these days, my best example being periphery.
The first time I played this in my car, it blew my speakers and everyone in the car came.
there is a reason i clicked on this! ha will be awesome to hear the new version
i really like this song. they dont really have any bad songs, but this is something i hope they bring along for the next album. and The Fast Ones, even though thats a little different than what they usually do.
The irony is that they combined this with the fast ones
@justcallmemrmetal Instrumental allows for absolutely any listener to apply the music to their own experience of life. It is just amazing.
Music - an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. (The definition from many source that is most recognized.)
AND I can say with full confidence that there are rap songs out there that don't follow this definition at all.
awesome drumming, awesome bass-sound, awesome guitar, awesome band, awesome song!
Love that opening bass in this. Pretty trippy all around. If you can, check out '700 MILES' and 'STRANGER' by SONIQ ARMADA
he's so damn good .....
Man, i remember seeing this when it had 5k views. Good to see that more and more people are listening to older periphery(not that their new stuff is bad, i just prefer their older works)
Rap is poetry. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.
this track is just a m a z i n g.... no more words
im staring at my dog right now, he's staring back at me, we are both nodding our heads, he wont look away, as much as I know about his world, that's how much he knows about mine, I need some gatorade and tacos
Perfect image for the music. Love me some Bulb!
thats some damn good music........
this is so awesome when listening in my car on max volume
Oh man , this is just beautiful... fucking beautiful
Holy crap this song better blow your mind. Incredible.
The bass sounds amazing
just hit me that this track isn't titled "absolOBOMB" haha anyone else feel me?
This is the best version to me but I always enjoyed the demos Misha released way back during myspace days. Most have a clean simple sound to them and not over produced.
This song is amazing! Does anyone else here like listening to this song high?
@duchashes
Yeah, I like that one more because it makes more sense than a word describing a sound of the guitar.
Spotted it.
friggin eargasm !!
this is what i call Music, so awesome
@pcnation11
They've got vocals. But you can find just about any song by them played instrumental.
so glad this song wasn't redone with vocals..
🤡
My 1year old niece waves her arms and bobs her head when I play bulp/periphery. Makes me proud.
Awesome backround picture!!!
I don't need drugs. This makes me high in itself.
@THETamaDrummer. It is actually in 4/4. HAHA. They are polying around in it but it is a straight 4. This band is so good!
@AndyAngelZ
yeah i wouldnt say VoM is djent at all
but i love both them and periphery for sure
I love the insanely technical drumming. Wow
Misha.... you are a genius
first time ive actually heard the bass in a periphery song... s'good
i can't wait until periphery releases another album haha so many good songs that didn't make it on the 1st one
God I'm so excited to see these guys at Sonisphere.
Periphery I is pretty much just covers/remakes of Bulb songs, their is only a few that aren't if I remember right.
simply great!
@RIPGLITCH Yes, but this was actually written and recorded by Misha Mansoor (guitarist of Periphery). This song isn't really by Periphery, just Misha. And he programmed the drums.
Classic...
this song reaches full perfection at 1.45 !
On a Formspring question. I can't find which one it was but he said that he's demoed ideas for it.
Der absolute Hammer !
This is exactly what I was searching for! AMAZING
Kickass drummer man!
@4whitesharpEz Appreciate it man. thanks. been listening to animals as leaders, and periphery a lot. but cant find anything from vildhjarta besides on here. a shame cuz they sound awesome. I'll check out the others. Thanks again.
Awesome feeling! Misha is a fucking genius!
really cool
That statement for some rap songs is highly debatable.
I NEED their album, please publish it:D this is so fucking goood! thank you Meshuggah for making the world a better place
I second that! I wish they would explore more innovative sounds like this more often. Not to diminish the quality of the upcoming album, but songs like this are far more interesting to me than zyglrox or Light. @neonstrike9034 No kidding ? Pure talent .
@CavatinaTV

Anyone hear a little bit of Jetpacks towards? the end? Love bulb's stuff :)
Great band .
esta onda está del carajo!!!!!
@justinsaneds its an 8 string guitar prbly drop g or f sharp
love it :P
I would loooove to hear this with vocals on the next periphery album ._.
