There has been Oda Nobunaga in many pieces of pop culture and media, and I've consumed a lot of them, but I think personality wise, FGO's portrayal of her personality is one of the most accurate. She has the tendency to switch between the wacky antics and a terrifying warlord. Her Demon King version is more of the latter, like Sengoku Basara's version of Nobunaga. I find it interesting that Oda Nobunaga has also been deified and has his own shrine in Kyoto. Interesting stuff! 😅
Something to take in consideration, specially here about Nobu and Okita is what FGO is about; I once read this phrase that encapsulates the concept perfectly: In Fate Grand Order you see the best of Servants. In Grail War stories the worst. In FGO every servant teams up with the goal of saving Human History, it is not a competition. In GW servants are competing for their wishes and desires
A few things you seem to have forgotten about is that she was also played seriously in GudaGuda3 (mainly because both GudaGuda3 as well as Redline are based off of Koha-Ace) and that in that event it's also shown that she has a Reality Marble that demolishes anything divine and all mystics within (almost killing Oryou with it), i think that's also what her Avenger np is but i might be wrong about that
Fate type-Redline is a serious take of Koha-ACE, the Fate gag manga Nobunaga comes from. The full name of the gag manga is "Fate/Koha-Ace GO Imperial Capital Holy Grail Strange Story". Avenger Nobu is an evolution of Nobu throughout the events of GUDAGUDA, which, I believe, started as a collab between Koha-ACE and FGO (like the Fate Apoc event, it's an AU version of the events in the manga). Every notable servant you meet in all of those events were from Koha-ACE, except for Avenger Nobu. As the GUDAGUDA writing got more serious, which in turn, got more popular, the author of Koha-ACE went and remade his manga into what is now known as Redline. This is probably why you think FGO Nobu is more toned down, when in actuality, she's toned up from her source (Archer Nobu is FGO's version of Koha-ACE Nobu, not Redline Nobu). In the gag manga, you get a hint that she's dangerous and shouldn't be underestimated but it's undercut by all of the fourth wall-breaking jokes.
Great to see a video on my favorite servant and 100% sengoku warlord. I've always held the belief that the reason Nobu seems 'lighter' than her historical double is due to the fact that as a character from a pretty meta series(Koha-Ace) she's aware of the 4'th wall and so actively tries to act in a way to make people like her. After all, the more people like her, the more the devs will feel he pressure to give her screen time, upgrades and even new servant forms. She wouldn't be the first servant to purposely change how they act to be more amenable to modern trends in story. Edward Teach, while he acts like a pathethic weeb and lolicon in game, is shown actually pretty regularly being the most ruthless and evil of all the pirate servants, being a man 100% willing to murder at the drop of a hat if it helps him get his way and is ruthless and cunning enough that Jason didn't want to try and take him one even with medea, hercacles and hector on his side in the third singularity. Then again, teach's whole 'Blackbeard' Persona was always artistry, it was a an act he put on to, this time he's just acting out the fool instead of the devil.
Klidge made a good point about how the female Nobu we have (and Nobukatsu) are from an alternate timeline and not THE Nobu from PHH, based on the fact that the same gudaguda that had Avenger Nobu had "Historically Accurate" Nobu (literally the historical artwork of the historical nobu) as a side gag. Instead of being labelled something silly as "Male Nobu" or "paper nobu", they picked "historically accurate". As for the differing personality, I would attribute that to the Master doing the summoning, since Fujimaru Ritsuka/MC is supposed to be 100% master affinity, the servants IMO get slight tweaks to their saint graph and personality to better adapt to Fujimaru as their master. Like how Spartacus is supposed to instantly kill any master that summons him because being their servant triggers his rebellion, but is given enough clarity and reasoning to not immediately do that with Fujimaru.

Probably my most favorite character in FGO... by a long shot. She (and Ushiwakamaru) are literally the reason I started playing FGO. Now I've finally got her and she is one of two Servants I grailed to 100 (I'll never grail to 120, since its so resource-consuming and I would need to get a character multiple times to actually be able to do that). And another reason I like her so much actually is the military-optic (women in uniform are great, man).

Nobbu is my fav character. Her design is perfect and her personality is understandable since the Type redline is summoned on times of war while the FGO appears on some way, a peaceful time. btw the Real reason behind her military dress is bcs back on type redline she said she liked the new military and their weapons, tactics and other things wich could explain the why she has such a dress. Also lore taking she´s a 4* servant on fgo and Okita a 5* even tho it should be the opposite since Okita is as a servant actually pretty weak and would die on a regular holy grail war if it takes too much time to end thanks to her illness while Nobunaga is a Beast comparable to Gilgamesh in terms of Firepower and Odyseus in terms of Tactics wich is a scary combination since both of em have been pretty annoying to deal with thanks to those aspects on Fate/stay night and Atlantis lostbelt accordingly.
Speaking as a fan of Summer Nobu, it makes sense now why her weapon of choice is an axe that is both a guitar and turntable. Rock and rap, both in origin are subversive genres that would have made her noble contemporaries pop a monocle. Even more so when she makes it work.
Honestly Nobu's reaction to finding out Berserker is Mori in Type Red Line is actually the best joke I have seen just because of how much a record scratch of a moment it is. One additional point I don't think you mentioned is that Kiposhi is actually implied to be male through dialogue in that GudaGuda event and some my room lines I believe so that lends credence to the Fool of Owari depiction as well as the mystery about Nobu's true historical gender they are going for. Also from that event its implied that the Nobu we know may just not be the real Nobu as all through the presence of "Real-deal Nobunaga" as one of the warring Nobus and everyone's reaction to them, while it more than likely just a joke all of the Kohai ace/gudaguda stuff does still try to lay out some consistent if wacky lore most of the time. Just food for thought lol I would not say no to a Pretender class Nobu or Nobukatsu at somepoint.
Kipposhi being male isn't implied. He's a male. He is one of few servants who has two separate valentine scenes, but the "giving chocolate" scene used kipposhi which means he's a male
I definitely got the impression of Oda Nobu despite the gender change doesn't change alot of Nobunaga's portrayal and originally from a Fate gag series (except for Fate Redline which doesn't have silly) Demon King Nobu is definitely imposing.
Curiously, the PHH Nobunaga (or Real Deal Nobunaga) that Zenjubou meet, was depicted by her as a terribly ordinary man, instead of the eccentric as Nobu was. That set up an interesting dichonomy between the real version and the Nobu version of the character, as apparently the one in historical fact is less "demonic" than the genderbend one

The more I learn about Oda Nobunaga the more proud I get that I have a completely maxed Demon King. The only way for her to get stronger is through paws. That will be fixed in ~two months.
Maou Nobu was the first servant I ever got two of in a single Multi-roll, so she's special to me too. The only other servants who have been that nice to me are Voyager and Castoria.
Also there is the fact nobunaga was mistaken for a girl a lot of Times when he was younger cause of his looks being quite effeminate in his early years so the genderbent is also a joke on that
@@CrazyYurie also nobu particolarly hated Buddhist monks and fake magicians (that’s why nobu has anti divine, sky and anti mystery in her skills lore wise, actual nobu didn’t trust monks cause in his early years he like many nobles of clans were sent to Buddhist temples where they were usually educated but it was also practice for the monks to have relations(sexual kind) with said students nobunaga hated it so much he scared the monks away preaty effectively so much so nobody dared to touch him or make advances on him) so much so he went around finding all thoose fake magicians and punish them if they didn’t actually have any powers, in general there are preaty funny stories of the man, like how one time he and his man were to pass a river but legend said there was a sea monster in the river, so to prove there wasn’t he just fucking jumped in and went underwater for a bit than came up going: see no monster now move.
I got into Fate through a friend complaining about Nobunaga’s gender bend and character design when I checked it out I ended up getting invested in the wiki article needless to say I I’m glad they decided to gender bend Nobunaga since most other media’s go with the hot older guy design when it comes to Nobunaga’s design so Fate is definitely switch up I hope we Tokugawa and Hideyoshi as servants soon
Its not mentioned much, a grand total of three i believe from GG1, GG4 and The Tengu event, but Nobu and all Gudaguda servants directly related to them are explicitly not the real PHH versions of the characters. GG1 happens because Nobu and Okita jump to chaldea from thier gag manga universe and thier existance draws things toward Gudaguda type events. The Real deal Nobunaga from GG4 being a direct reminder despite being played off as a gag. The genderswap is primarily a joke at fates reputation for those things, but PHH has a male Nobu and the Avenger nobu is notably ungendered due to being a concept of all Nobus together, including male and female Nobus. Chaldea summoning is based off thier connections, so we draw from GG verse more than we would PHH.

I quite like the character, and has given me way more knowledge in Japanese history that I've ever known before. Regarding this Avenger, she's closer to the Angra-Type avengers, so it makes sense she doesn't "go for revenge" but "gets a lot of hatred in her direction", and using that hatred and slander as a weapon, which is basically the power source of Angra types, embracing the hatred.

Also I think it should be mentioned that in fgo nobu is aknowledging that she is not from proper human history and that real nobu is that one historicaly accurate Oda from gudaguda event where several nobu fights. Fun fact, according to a Japanese friend, its highly unlikely Nobunaga seriously called themselves the Demon King, and either just rolled with it to intimidate the weaker foes, or like, Louis Frois and co
Louis Frois actually befriended Nobunaga and stayed in his residence while writing books, but it's most true what your friend said. I'm not Japanese, but know that things would be different if Nobunaga claimed he is the demon king not as a joke or for intimidation, but as a REAL deal. The main reason is that during his times, he kept contacts and friendships with foreigners, mainly merchants and missionaries and they were christians. If history taught us anything is that if you are associated with demons and witchcraft, your life wouldn’t be an easy one.

Regarding Mount Hiei, what's interesting to note was that the story of its destruction at the hands of Nobunaga was mostly made up. As you correctly pointed out, the monks of Mount Hiei were living in extreme decadence. They got drunk, had lovers and children, took part in wars, threw their political weight around and more often than not didn't even spend the night *inside* the temple as was expected of them, instead spending it with their lovers and families in the villages surrounding the temple. In recent years, archaeological studies were carried out in the area, and no skeletal remains or even a strata of burnt earth were left behind from the Sengoku Period. Moreover, according to the Tamon-in Diary - a record of the time regarding Mount Hiei - there should have been very little people there. It is believed that those who wrote that the whole mountain was set ablaze mostly lived in the capital and were just writing down hearsay. Nevertheless, the story stuck and Nobunaga garnered such a reputation.

I got into Fate through a friend complaining about Nobunaga’s gender bend and character design when I checked it out I ended up getting invested in the wiki article needless to say I I’m glad they decided to gender bend Nobunaga since most other media’s go with the hot older guy design when it comes to Nobunaga’s design so Fate is definitely switch up I hope we Tokugawa and Hideyoshi as servants soon
I'm surprised we haven't gotten those two already.
If I remember right we have a character design for Hideyoshi already, it's just not in fgo yet

Its not mentioned much, a grand total of three i believe from GG1, GG4 and The Tengu event, but Nobu and all Gudaguda servants directly related to them are explicitly not the real PHH versions of the characters. GG1 happens because Nobu and Okita jump to chaldea from thier gag manga universe and thier existance draws things toward Gudaguda type events. The Real deal Nobunaga from GG4 being a direct reminder despite being played off as a gag. The genderswap is primarily a joke at fates reputation for those things, but PHH has a male Nobu and the Avenger nobu is notably ungendered due to being a concept of all Nobus together, including male and female Nobus. Chaldea summoning is based off thier connections, so we draw from GG verse more than we would PHH.
Ngl I always thought nobu was an 8th grader student when I didn't knoe here due to her design.

That is the plan, yes. For the most part summer versions aren't relevant though, since they tend to be purely comedy.

I quite like the character, and has given me way more knowledge in Japanese history that I've ever known before.
Regarding this Avenger, she's closer to the Angra-Type avengers, so it makes sense she doesn't "go for revenge" but "gets a lot of hatred in her direction", and using that hatred and slander as a weapon, which is basically the power source of Angra types, embracing the hatred.
Standing on a pile of skulls and was known as a demon if she didn't have the guns it she would definitely be saying blood for the blood god skulls for the skull throne
There are quite a few servants in FGO who probably would make pretty good Khornates. Mori Nagayoshi, perhaps?
Aren`t avenger nobu second ascension male? so we have both male and female nobu? it aknowledged in valentine where you can give them chocolate. Also I think it should be mentioned that in fgo nobu is aknowledging that she is not from proper human history and that real nobu is that one historicaly accurate Oda from gudaguda event where several nobu fights. That if I rememver correctly. Still I realy like your videos, they are both entertaining and enlightening

The female Nobu is from proper human history because proper human history is not one timeline they are multiple the one your thinking of is from a timeline very similar to ours

Fun fact, according to a Japanese friend, its highly unlikely Nobunaga seriously called themselves the Demon King, and either just rolled with it to intimidate the weaker foes, or like, Louis Frois and co
I do say that in the video.
Louis Frois actually befriended Nobunaga and stayed in his residence while writing books, but it's most true what your friend said. I'm not Japanese, but know that things would be different if Nobunaga claimed he is the demon king not as a joke or for intimidation, but as a REAL deal. The main reason is that during his times, he kept contacts and friendships with foreigners, mainly merchants and missionaries and they were christians. If history taught us anything is that if you are associated with demons and witchcraft, your life wouldn’t be an easy one.

Regarding Mount Hiei, what's interesting to note was that the story of its destruction at the hands of Nobunaga was mostly made up.
As you correctly pointed out, the monks of Mount Hiei were living in extreme decadence. They got drunk, had lovers and children, took part in wars, threw their political weight around and more often than not didn't even spend the night *inside* the temple as was expected of them, instead spending it with their lovers and families in the villages surrounding the temple.
In recent years, archaeological studies were carried out in the area, and no skeletal remains or even a strata of burnt earth were left behind from the Sengoku Period. Moreover, according to the Tamon-in Diary - a record of the time regarding Mount Hiei - there should have been very little people there.
It is believed that those who wrote that the whole mountain was set ablaze mostly lived in the capital and were just writing down hearsay. Nevertheless, the story stuck and Nobunaga garnered such a reputation.

If I remember correctly Kippoushi Nobu is actually male meaning you can take advantage of gender related skills depending on which form you go with.
I always use Kippoushi's anscension form whenever I fight using him.
