1:35 - New Engine mounts, suspension bushing, new dampers, L/C arms 3:25 2018 CX-3 NVH Improvements, more sound deadening in floor and transmission tunnel. (headliner) thicker glass (new vibration absorbing foam used in seats) - source Mazda USA 2019 Cx-3 Press Kit.
Another old-school item they should have done as part of the upgrades is bring a manual transmission as I believe it's offered in Canada. Recently shopped and immediately crossed this one off my list 1st for the lack of manual and 2nd or the lack of rear seating.
It was a tough choice - really loved the Mazda3 during a test drive. The deal I was able to get on the 2017.5 M6 was priced the same price as the Mazda3 with the same 2.5L and it offered even more rear leg room and a more usable trunk. For how I use it, to commute during the week and family duties (family of 5), I figured I wouldn't regret getting the larger Mazda6. The 1/2 year model update also bundled many features with the Touring that I think that pushed me over the edge to get the M6 - heated seats, rear cross traffic alert, free Nav and few others. So far, no regrets.
i'm trying to ignore the lack of rear seat room and think of the cx3 as something closer to the volvo c30 or even a mini cooper-a two door hatch that just happens to have four doors!. thanks for the effort and the sharing. i had not realized that g vectoring control got to the cx3 in the 2018 model year. i thought it had gotten there in the 2017 model. thumbs up.
Oops! Edited my comment - "LOT" not "log." And, yes! I suppose most looking at compact SUVs don't need the clearance, but many Forest Service roads require it.
Mike as you, I love small cars as well. However I still feel Mazda skimped on this, as have every other manufacturer in these small car segments, in giving it a weak engine. A form of cheapness if you will. The Mazda 3 has a 2.5L but the CX3, which is heavier, gets a 2L. Do you think this is a valid point or most are just happy to have 4 wheels in this segment? Other issue is Mazda still doesn't have Apple Carplay or Android Auto. This is such a gorgeous vehicle, maybe I'm just expecting too much given how nice it looks
No, I think you're 100% on point. Like I said in the review, this is a nice engine, and I love the responsiveness and the frugality of it, but if any manufacturer offered an option in this segment with a REALLY nice engine that sounded great and had just a little more power than this, it'd absolutely KILL. And the omission of AA and AC is just foolish and shortsighted.
I'd rather have a mazda6 wagon at the same price point...furthermore why are the smallest vehicles commanding the highest prices and your review mule did not come with awd...for this trim and feature set, might as well get the '3 hatch in the same GT spec
Correct me if i am wrong , but still no apple car play android auto. An easy fix mazda, like much of toyota will not do. Inexcusable not addressing consumer demand, esp for otherwise good mazda products. Seeing as mazda included a lot of new goodies, the omission of ACP and AA is really bad
Apple Car play and Android Auto are going to be Software System Updates in 2019 according to Mazda its going to be compatible for any Mazda u-connect system so basically all infotainment models from 2014- present
Another white test car with another white interior. VOMIT!! All these incremental tiny 'upgrades' since 2015 are so minor that nobody would even notice them, except for the uglification of the steering wheel. It's a nice little city car but don't fluff around with all these pointless 'upgrades'. For 3 years this car has been essentially the same since launch. The engine really needs an upgrade.
I hate when most manufactures think small=cheap. What if I want nice feature but not a giant car or SUV? That's the reason I bought a Mazda 3
Shane Nelson Smart choice.
Was my favorite Mazda until I drove an RF. Right up there with the CR-V and the RAV4. Great video - thanks for sharing!
I gots the same one with that Ceramic Metallic paint,,, mine is a 2016 with 107,567 miles with no issues at all,
I think I saw one of these the other day. I thought it was some kind of fancy Italian import. Looks nice.
They did a great job.
This isn't about salvage Teslas. Where's Rich? Did he get fired?
He renamed his channel "Rich Rebuilds".
Good one, Michael!

This guy is so smooth he could sell ice to Eskimos. lol

modmatt1 A manual for this would be amazing! What'd you end up going with?
2017.5 Mazda6 Touring - Yes, with the 6 speed manual.
modmatt1 Great choice. But why not the Mazda3?

modmatt1 With a family of 5, you absolutely made the right choice. And you got the G-vectoring as well!
Looks nice and loaded with everything !👍
What happened to the CarGuru channel?
the quality content from carguru is now known as Rich Rebuilds.

I want one of these so bad
Tuts Cafe This is a great time to snag one, too!
I’m getting one next month :)
Great review, Michael! It's amazing what one small change can do to the handling.
Kudo's to Mazda for offering a stylish alternative to an otherwise cookie cutter segment. Great review as always Mike!
DeCarlos Williams Thanks! And agreed!
There's a lot I like about this car, but as a hiker, I wish she had a bit more ground clearance.
Kevin Johnson Wouldn't it be great with a slightly raised suspension and some taller, all-season tires?
Oops! Edited my comment - "LOT" not "log."

Gas mileage? The HRV is stuck with just a 1.8L btw.
18's vs. 16's on the Sport? Ride quality?
Michael Webber Depends on if you prioritize comfort or handling, but I didn't find this harsh at all.

Please review the 2018 Ford EcoSport
Oh, I would LOVE to. Dad had an SVO back in '86. Miss that car ...
Are those bad lighting glasses hahhahahaa
Tony Stark Bad eyes glasses.
Can it tow a small amount?
I wouldn't attempt towing with the CX-3, but that depends on what you mean by "a small amount." The CX-5's towing capacity is 2000lbs, for comparison.
Towing not recommended so even finding a hitch for bike mounts proves to be difficult
Are those Tom Ford shades?
Got 'em at an estate sale. They just say "Romeo & Juliet" on the side.
