The audio in this video was recorded with in-ear binaural microphones. If you wear headphones, your mind won't be blown, but it will go, "woah."
I'm also the producer for the Winding Road TH-cam Channel:
    / windingroadmagazine
Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly test vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, you'll see! Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Why are you still reading this, you should be watching the video. With headphones! Hah, had to sneak that in there one more time. Later!

I bought this car for it's gas mileage, higher clearance than their sedans, good headroom for a small car with a tall driver, and it's decent handling, but it's not a rally car, a street racer, 4wd, or a spacious suv.

I have had a 2017 Grand Touring CX-3 for the past year-and-a-half. So far I am very pleased with the overall build quality and general performance. It is all about expectations and what one is looking for in their next vehicle. BTW, I came from an Acura MDX. Sure, it can use more power, but so can just about everything else in its' price range and size (and it is still quicker than an HR-V or Crosstrek). The 6-speed auto is it's strength and gives an edge over anything with a CVT. Yes, cargo volume and seating space are very small; at the bottom of the class pretty much, but for my use, it is fine.

A used CX3 is a fabulous car for the price point. Mazda seems to be on top of their reliability game from my research and the AWD GT version is a hoot to drive.
GT trim is the one u gotta get on this thing though - the leather, the safety and pep.

Love my 2019 cx3... I drive it daily for work (approx 3k miles a month) and average 29 mpg with spirited and stop n go driving. Love that it’s not a lower car with getting in and out so often for work. Apple play is now available but I have yet to take it to the dealership and may not as the system that it has now works great.
It’s a very safe car with a lot of great useful options. I traded in a 3 series bmw and I actually prefer the cx3 over the bmw. I thought about cx5 and Mazda 3 but I wanted great gas mileage, awd for winter, cheaper price, and let’s face it... it’s a sharp looking car.
Cons: I don’t use the lane warning but turned off leaves a yellow dash light... it’s annoying to me. Engine doesn’t sound the greatest if you’re a sports car fan, 2019 model got rid of ebrake under armrest but cup holders still suck. I use the door cup holders more. No vents or usb in backseat (i rarely have any passengers back there anyways), technology works great but for 19 it doesn’t seem flashy coming in a 30k plus car.

I own a 2017 CX-3 Touring and it's a great commuter car. I hate the automatic tranny because it either feels way too lethargic or annoying in sport mode because the revs are high...it just stays in one gear it seems. Space is ultra tight if you put in a kids seat in back - you have to move the front seats forwards just to buckle your kid in! But I commute in Seattle, so the maneuverability, MPG, fun factor and the fact it feels like my old Mazda Protege5, and was at the time $10K less than a CX-5 in my area so it hit many marks otherwise I would have gone with a CX-5.

Remind me: Did you mention you have a spot of ignorance when you try to see where the CX-3 sits in the Mazda range and in the market place? You might have said it once, maybe? Well, let me quench your thirst for knowledge: It's slightly smaller than the CX-5, slightly cheaper, is enough for people who only occasionally ride more than two-up, and like the high-riding seating, (nicer than seeing nothing in front but the back of other SUVs... and station wagons, MPVs, light goods vehicles...). It's also good for people who have a preference for entering and exiting easily. Of course you know all about buyers' motivation for SUVs anyway, or do you? Position in the market place, hmmm? A real toughie: it gives Mazda the right size and shape, driving and riding, luggage capacity and all the rest to get a good part of the action in the fastest-growing market segment for private transport vehicles. (You were pretending to not understand that, weren't you? You little tease, you...)
Competition time: If you really cannot think of one single successful direct competitor to the CX-3, please get a sworn statement as to why you cannot do that from your general medical practitioner to send in with your answer.. There will not be any prizes, as there will not be any bona fide competitors dumb enough to want to take part.
Why is it that the ludicrous belief that a good vehicle review has to include several doses of negativity, even if some "observations" have to be invented for that purpose, is creeping from the domain of so-called professional motoring critics to the usually more interesting domain in which operate ordinary folks, those who know the vehicles, competition, target market utility and pleasure, and whose texts used to be really informative, provocations of useful thoughts about the vehicles they are examining?
Do people really copy poor examples more promptly than they copy good ones? Do not copy me: I am a notorious bad example, according to, (probably and amongst a horde of others), all the car sales staff who have failed to blind me with the paucity of their science and their inability to see the vehicles they have to sell from the point of view of their potential clients. Maybe many car sales people moonlight as wannabe car critics, or even, perish the thought, as professional critics.

Bro what are you saying? He has complaints which is subjective, it might be different for others driving the car because they would or would not be okay with the tight space of the trunk and passenger seats. As for your last paragraph, I'm pretty sure this guy is making loads of money off TH-cam by giving honest reviews and his driving style appeals to the people watching his videos. Some may want to push the car around turns or do 0-60s for fun, which is what is appealing for most people. Whatever problem u have with this guys reviews, u might as well as prove him wrong and do ur own reviews instead.

HEY "The Tophler", it's really really really annoying of you going on about what the CX-3 could possibly be FOR!! Consider this: A person who drives around town providing home care for a living in Portland, Oregon, and needs a car that is affordable, safe, efficient, easy to park, can handle lots of rain and some snow, has a great infotainment system, a back seat to stow lunch and computer, and the back for groceries. Everybody thinks a CUV is all about CARGO and PASSENGERS! NO NO NO! Just one passenger and the occasional bike with the back seat folded down! THAT'S IT!! Love a car that's also fun to drive, and hate CVT trannies! Is there a better car for THAT? That's what I want to know! Also can Android Auto be INSTALLED to this or any of the other cars that don't have it?? We got man to the moon! So installing Android should be a cake walk!

I wouldn't say gimmick, but it certainly appeals to those who want a higher riding vehicle that isn't a sedan, but also isn't as large as a regular crossover.
I'm not in that demographic of buyers as I'd rather just get a mid-size sedan over these crossovers, but for those who do, the compact crossover segment is certainly dandy.

We're a family of 2, no kids, no pets. We want a compact AWD with the ease of getting in and out of a higher vehicle. We also enjoy Mazdas for their handling dynamics and great road feel. Some in the class are more practical, but we don't want to trade practicality for handling and style. So, the CX-3 fits the bill for us.

I tell you.. Mazda and their new Kodo design is so hideous. I'd be embarrassed to even ride in the vehicle. I had a friend tell me I should trade my Ford Fiesta in for a Mazda CX-3, and he forgot I got rid of my Mazda 3 for the Fiesta because the Mazda was in the shop more so than average, and just felt so cheap overall. Bluetooth was not usable because it was so noisy on the inside.

Most people like the new Mazda design language, and most subcompacts are noisy.

Jeff Brisson - Majority would disagree with you. Lol. Ford’s lineup actually looks up to date, Mazda’s is getting pretty long in the tooth. They aren’t going to be doing so good with this current design language they have going on.

DeadofWinter321 Ford is ditching most of their cars. Smart move!

Jeff Brisson It sucks because the Fusion, Fiesta and the Taurus were really good vehicles too (idk about the Focus but I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to test drive one over an ugly Mazda 3!). People want SUVs now and trucks.

Engine sound is awful, it's bad even among other 4-bangers. More - Mazda deliberately lets more of that noise in to make the car feel more sporty. Dear Mazda, a loud noise of a broken vacuum cleaner is not sporty at all!

Hilarious. Someone else said the engine sounded awesome. Sensory topics are highly subjective. Personally, I think pretty much all 4 bangers sound lame, so, the quieter the better for me.

Steven Schroeder I like his good Impressions on the cars; I just want to hear the actual car at times. Thanks for reminding me of Winding Road.

Yeah, and don't video anything (like in the days before TV). I just want to stare at a silent blank screen.
