- So I drove the Mazda CX-3. Many requested me to test this car out and were asking whether this or the HRV or the XV etc. But I find it odd that many were even asking because the crossover segment is so new, every car maker seems to have their own take on it. Thus the end results were so distinct that they don't seem to belong in the same segment anyway apart from pricing. It's unlike cars say the CX5, CRV, 3008, Tiguan where they're all millimetres apart from each other. The crossover segments are so diverse, with the XV focusing on being an SUV, the HRV focusing on being a jacked up Civic and the CX-3 focusing on being a jacked up warm hatch. They are very different.

If you're considering buying a new CX3 from Bermaz, do check for plastic wrapping on the rims. If they melt, it gets nasty.
Good review as usual. I have been driving this car for almost 2 years now, love every inch of it. However, I need to upgrade to bigger car now, the back seat is too narrow, can't fit a full size baby car seat, without sacrificing some spaces or leg room from front seats.

Kwaiharn Lam I don't actually feel it as tin sound, kinda common noise from raindrop on car. You should be worried more on the space rather than anything else if you are thinking of buying this car

Is it weird that most if not all mass market cars have tin sound whenever it's raining heavily?

If I'm not wrong , the older Volvos 740/940 don't have such sounds when it's raining heavily , I was surprised when I sat on the latest Vios and it was raining , heard all the tin sounds. You should do a test on this on every car you review , just a simple one , take a garden hose or something to mimic heavy downpour , hahaha.
The HR-V is based on the Jazz/Fit .

Just buy bro. Driven the car before. Sweet. Civic more spacious thats it. Other than that, the Mazda 3 is better in handling.
Bobby, is it true that CX3 interior/space is exactly the same as the Mazda 2?. Is it a Jacked-up Mazda 2?
The design is an exact carbon copy except for the materials used. The materials used in the CX-3 is way better in terms of quality. As for the interior size I felt like the CX-3 is a tad bigger...don't know if it's placebo.
Technically you can call it a jacked up Mazda 2, but it's not a Mazda 2. These 2 cars are just very different and the only similarities are the chassis and interior design (the CX-3 uses more premium materials).

Hi Bobby, is it worth it to get cx3 over the Mazda 2 ? Bcos the interior feels the same except some leather part.
Test drive this car today, was REALLY bad. the car is rolling at the back seat. if getting 3 passanger behind is a CRAP. is not a small FAMILY CAR usage. so dont get carry away with what this Bobby saying "is a small family car" i can say this car is a daily usage in town, office & couple car, not really suitable for family use. The car itself rolling at the back, when over those pot holes & humps, it obviously can feel the car rolling left & right.

I have the same feeling when I own the car for first 2 months. After I drive it for 5 years till now, I even test drive the latest harriers recently..you will not drive any compact and mid SUV compare to this. Trust me

both are not exactly examples of a quiet cabin. At least I understand Mazda previously wanted drivers to hear the road (as there's no annoying wind noise coming at speeds they shouldn't), as for HRV, it's slightly quieter than the CX3 but the reason you can hear the road is definitely not due to driving dynamic concerns lol ....

The road noise is very apparent and is quite tiring at long journeys. It's one of the main cons of the CX3 for sure, but the rest of the car makes up for that short coming.

if i want something for the drive, i think you should look at other products. this category comfort, space, practicality and safety comes first. if a manufacturer offers c segment chassis, rear double wishbone suspension,100% additonal grip instead why not judge it with those abilities. People can ramble all day about good grippy tyres and suspension settings to improve grip and yet finds all the reason not to buy a car with double the grip for free. And spend 130k on a lifted econobox..wtf

Plus your argument of rear suspension setup is just ridiculous. On a everyday drive you will never notice a difference. This is a crossover that drives well doesn't mean it's a sports car.
Judging a compact car by practicality and space? Do you even know the definition of compact? If practicality is all you want nothing beats an Innova.

Alright you little punk let uncle explain to you why I put that down as a plus. Most modern inline-4 engine are stocked with 4-1s. Mazda's skyactiv engine is high compression and combine with 4-2-1 the power band is shifted to the left. Plus I like the sound of a 4-2-1 more compared to a 4-1. Both 4-1 and 4-2-1 has their own pros and cons, but in the Mazda's case it's a pro imho and I simply just prefer it.
