For new Lenovo laptop bios. Check if after bios update the Intel VMD Controller is not set to: Enabled. It may cause problems with detecting your hard drive. Set it to Disabled, And check if Sata controller mode is set to AHCI.

When I try to change it to AHCI is gives a warning that says: all existing data stored on the drivers will be erase when resetting controller mode, does that mean that all my data and files will be deleted?

@xxgamerboi xx If changing the settings in BIOS didnt help your situation or you cannot manage to change them, move on to try the reinstall of Windows as seen here; th-cam.com/video/Wu0c8wR5Ltk/w-d-xo.html. You can create your own Install Media for free as seen here; th-cam.com/video/g_UhiHScaSI/w-d-xo.html. If that does not work, it is because your Hard Drive is bad and needs to be replaced as shown here; th-cam.com/video/tNp5Kbo9uHg/w-d-xo.html.

After updating the bios the laptop restarted itself then this window opened up (default media missing or failed)

@@PC_Monkey I had bitlocker enabled on one of the drive. I heard that bitlocker does not work on legacy mode
Great video...!!! I watched several of your videos and nothing worked. Kept getting an HD error. I took my laptop computer apart and all seven of the eight screws were loose, hence the HD became dislodged. I took the opportunity to clean the fan. Then took a picture of the RAM and HD and then tightened all screws. Success👍🏿.

Thanks for the video - super helpful. You mention UEFI options being grayed out but I’m not even able to select the Boot Mode -it just skips to the next line (USB Boot) when trying to select. Is that an issue you’ve seen before?

This happened to me right now, but when I restarted the laptop, everything worked fine, until now. Should I be worried or the problem is solved? I wanted to make sure and that's why I came here. I am worried that this thing could happen again tomorrow or after a few days. I really need the laptop and I can't afford to lose anything from it. Right now I am watching this from my laptop, but I hope that was just an error. At the beginning, there was that message "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you. " After this, the screen went black and this appeared to me. Then, I just restarted from the power up button and now, apparently, my laptop is working. So I am worried...
After trying something similar and other things and chasing critical error message and resetting this got it running and im sure fixed the original problem. The thorough explanation helped

Hey after i changed it to legacy , the blank screen blinks on and off and does not start. Power button is on but screen is not starting just blinking

@@PC_Monkey my Lenovo Y540 wouldn't reset to factory settings so I created a recovery disk on a USB...somewhere in the process the entire system got corrupted and it wouldn't boot. Seeing the log in screen after following your advice was such a weight off.

You are a total LEGEND. Thanku thanku thanku thankuuu. My boot settings looks quite a bit different, but I got what you were saying. The fix ended up being in some other tab.. and I saw something saying Legacy, so I just changed it. Boom! It worked!!! THANKUUU!!!

Hello!i recently found you when searching for my fix : problem is, i boot up my computer but it doesnt directly go to windows but the utility setup i can exit the setup and boot to windows but i just want to boot into windows directly and not in the insydeh20 utility hopeully you read this

Hey thanks for the vid. im trying follow through but in tue boot menu the UEFI Boot Mode is not optional to change (letters are in black) went to security and disabled secure boot but still wont allow me to change. Any other advice? Thanks id appreciate!
If you cannot locate the options to switch between or if switching does not work, then skip that step and continue with the rest of the video :)

To all those who is unable to change UEFI. Just go to configurations> storage> from RST change it to AHCI. Thank me later

Sometimes BIOS just gets reset by an error, sudden power loss, etc. Usually no big deal unless it continues to happen. Then, consider replacing your CMOS battery. You can see how to access that part here; th-cam.com/video/76I2Ec9K7lw/w-d-xo.html
