    Nice! Easy to cover a lot of water fast.

    Got mine in 2015. Five inches of water is all it needs. Suggest carrying a spare prop and tools. If skeg just misses rock... Mine split in two.

    Nice job on the video. My rig is a 19' Grumman canoe with a Stump Jumper/Subaru long-tail mud motor. More power than needed and I don't think I've ever used more than about 1/2 throttle.

      Sounds like a blast! I'm switching to high-density polyethylene for my boats for now on. I'm actually going to weld them with my hot air and Extrusion welder. Aluminum is just too expensive and easy to damage for my situations

    • @markihde4381
      @markihde4381 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MudMotorsMax Yep! Like when you hit that rock in the video an aluminum hull canoe would have grabbed and probably thrown you out of the boat. My water is Fort Peck reservoir and deeper water. I bought a 30 gallon water bladder that I put in the bottom of the bow section to help balance the canoe and I also put most of my other gear as far forward in the canoe as practical.

      @@markihde4381 oh yeah I have hit so many things so many times the boat s just about done for! I actually retired it because I'm afraid of falling through the boat and getting hit by my long tail propeller. It was a good run but now it's about time for HDPE boats to replace the old square back canoe.

    • @markihde4381
      @markihde4381 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MudMotorsMax For running shallow, moving water, HDPE is definitely the way to go. Quieter than aluminum, not as "grabby" on rocks and with a wide, flat stern you can get up on a plane for the shallow stuff. My Grumman is a displacement hull shape, so no matter how much power I put to it, the canoe will not get up on a plane. Foolish to even try, and with the bulb keel running the length of the centerline, trying to run the Tongue River below the dam would be a bad idea. Better to put in at the reservoir and try some crappie fishing. Looking forward to your next video with the new HDPE boat! 🙂

      @@markihde4381 I have been on the tongue River a few times with the scanoe I love it! The rocks on the river would definitely sink an aluminum boat. I popped a big hole in my 10ft Jon boat trying it on the Powder River... A few Rock shelves later in my smile disappeared 🤣 I barely made it back without sinking.

    Hey nice video. Do you like the Scanoe better than a Jon boat? And why ?

  • @Alpenglowoutdoors
    @Alpenglowoutdoors ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Are you able to pull start that motor while youre in the boat? I want to go the 212cc route but theres not much option for an electric start.

    • @MudMotorsMax
      @MudMotorsMax  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh yeah no problem. It might take a little bit of practice depending on your situation but you'll get it down just fine

    Hey Max, Rigging one of these up for some swamp deer/duck hunts. I have access to both a 79cc and 212cc HF motors, both are new. For a 16ft canoe with a fair load most of the time, which motor would you pick to start with. Just trying to cut out any mistakes that you may have already found... My Longtail is 85", what's your read on that. Anyhoo, thanks for your videos, they're top notch. Did you get your disc muffler setup to work like you wanted?

    • @MudMotorsMax
      @MudMotorsMax  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely recommend getting at least a 212. I got the muffler from Robertsons torque tube and it works really good I love it

    How's the canoe for stability with the mud motor ? I'm looking to get one to use in addition to my Kaboat ,that I move a my truck rack. The Jon boats all seem to be a bit to heavy for that.

    • @MudMotorsMax
      @MudMotorsMax  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mine is a flat bottom Square back canoe Called the Scanoe coleman used to make them I really enjoy it but it being 16 foot long might not be the best to go on top of the rack of your truck but it might be OK. I have a little 1030 Jon boat that I enjoy as well. I guess the simple answer is I really love them and the stability is just fine

  • @Tylersprinkle
    @Tylersprinkle ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How’s the turnin in real time, since the canoe is pretty narrow is that sketchy?

    • @MudMotorsMax
      @MudMotorsMax  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sit on the bottom with all my gear so I've never felt unstable enough to be nervous. There was that one time I loaded me with two of my friends plus my dog with all the gear and that got a little butt puckering so we decided to leave my dog on shore. Once you get too much weight it gets a little scary but we're talking like 800 pounds
