Scratchy dials in computer speakers | Labtec LCS-1017 from 2001

  • My HP Brio BA410 PC came with these Labtec speakers in 2001, and for some time, the dials have been quite scratchy and stiff to turn, so it was time to do something about it. Never disassembled these before, so it was also interesting to see what's inside.

    To be clear, I have nothing to do with CRC or it's manufacturer, this is just the contact cleaner product that I happen to have, it's years old, and bought it with my own money. I've seen other TH-camrs using Deoxit, which might be better contact cleaner. There's also WD-40 and probably other alternatives as well, maybe even IPA works, but electronics cleaner products may contain also some lubricants, which is useful for this kind of dials, as they were stiff, and started turning considerably more easily after spraying them with this product.
