My husband and I just spent a month in Alaska from mid May to mid June. Absolutely loved it and we did close to your route (we started in Anchorage). In Seward we stayed at Waterfront Park; in Kenai stayed at Beluga Lookout; in Homer it was Heritage RV Park. When in Valdez make sure you go to Peter Pan Seaford Market - good prices for the seafood and make it yourself - better than the restaurants! There is SO much to see and do! Would do it again in a heartbeat! I could go on and on with places to see and things to do!
Marc, you are so lucky to be able to wear so many different hats...styles!! You two make such a great couple I so admire that you both have a sense of humour and are so light hearted!!
We visited Alaska many years ago, and marveled at its beauty from the balcony of our cruise ship. One day soon, we hope to experience it from the road. We've been so inspired by your family's courage to challenge the status quo and live out your dreams on your terms. We've always felt like there was so much more to life than just building wealth and acquiring more stuff, but that's the trap we have found ourselves in, so we're making some big changes. You're building such a beautiful legacy for your family, and there's a community of people who are cheering you on, and finding permission to live their own dreams. Thank you for your tips, your humor and for sharing your adventures with us. We truly appreciate you!
I've got a set of Rock Tamers too! Love them! Had them for over 7 years and they still look new. Use them every time I tow the boat or the camper. Great video once again! Safe travels.
Marc and Tricia... I’ve been following your travels for a few years now, time flys and still remember you being stranded with your first blowout and the wrong wrench. Great to see you are able to keep the content fresh and your skills continue to impress.
Haven't heard from you in a while. Thanks for the comment. Yes, you've been here a long time! More to come in AK. There is some amazon footage coming up.
Fairbanks looks like a fun place! Loved the antique automobile museum...very interesting place and on bucket list now. You both looked fabulous in the hats! We enjoy your weekly vlog! Thank you!
Love the videos and the information they provide! Someone commented, "boring, not your best," below. Well, tell them to get out there and make their own adventures! I enjoy every video because you can't control what a city has to offer, but the quality and effort you put into making these videos does not go unnoticed! Keep up the good work and see you next week!
Great again! Love all the pertinent information and history you all add to the shows. It just keeps building our lists so that we might be better prepared when we hed that way. Keep it up, Can't get enough... OLT
I just caught up on all the seasons. What an awesome TH-cam vlog series. You have me seriously thinking about how I want to spend the rest of my life with my family! My favorite episode was How Not to Cross the Border. I couldn't stop laughing seeing all those oranges coming out of the woodwork and then seeing you guys find oranges at every border crossing is hilarious! Keep it up and do a meetup in middle Tennessee one day.
Love the hats. I think Trish you are so correct in saying that the fashions of that time are beautiful. Those car colors are hard to beat, and electric nice. Great to see Caleb found his shoes. LOL Great info. Thank you so much. Look forward to the next travels.....Salute! CDH&CDH
Yay! New video! I did not realize how large the inside of those slide-in campers are! They look a lot more roomy on the inside, compared to the appearance.
We went to Alaska every summer for 4 years. And loved it. My husband worked on the Army base and middle school in Fairbanks. We have visited all over Alaska and feel like I'm reliving it all with you😍 You are you going love it and can't wait to see more videos😍
That's a good word about planning in advance for the holidays we enjoy and look forward to most. As a full time RV newbie, I appreciate those sorts of "heads up"!! As always, we appreciate your quality content. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us!!
Glad you liked it. We've had other holidays sneak up on us too where we think to ourselves, we could have easily re-routed to make this 10x better! We've also had it work in our favor and spent Thanksgiving with family we don't normally get to see. I'm sure you've heard of the big rocks philosophy. Holidays are becoming a big rock.
We love the video of Fairbanks. We were there in 2015 and the roads were just as good as you have showed. Our time at the Auto Museum was one of our best outings. My wife loved all of the clothing while I drooled over the outstanding cars. Thank you for all of the memories. Keep the videos coming.
So excited for y'all checking out Fairbanks was born there and semi raised ;) just moved from there to TX recently! Hope you enjoy your time and travels in Alaska ♥️
Alaska is so on our list in a year or two, but after just 6 months of Full time RVing under our belts we have so many other things we still want to do in the lower 48. But just watching your videos makes us want to go now.
You all have great smiles - your smiles are contagious!!! Your switch could possibly use a tiny awning attached above it to prevent water from getting inside.
Hey guys this was such a great episode! Your videos and lifestyle have inspired our family to want to live the RV Dream!! We are working on a 2 year plan and hope to hit the road in 2020 with our kids!! Keep up the great work, love the editing:)
We are embarking on a very similar adventure ourselves! We have been researching RVs and trucks lately and furiously watching Trish and Marc's videos and they are so inspiring. All the best to you and your family!
Marc, love that driving hat and the auto museum was way cool. I drool over antique vehicles and it was different seeing the fashions of the day interspersed among the cars I really enjoyed the tour. Loved the video, can't wait for more.
Trish, thanks for this week's history lesson, it was excellent as always. Marc, we had the same issue with one of our switches. It turnd out to be a corroded connection wire at the switch, $14 and I replaced the switch.
Another great video! It blew my mind to discover that my hubby watched it while I was at work! He's a closet KYD lover lol! You have to know him to really appreciate this! I am missing Carson and Victoria on this trip! All the best :)
Fabulous video! I live here in NP and my wife and I have been watching your videos. We’re not owners of an RV or travel trailer yet but your videos are a great source of information. Thanks for what you do and I hope you enjoyed your stay in Fairbanks.
You showed the rock chips and I sucked in all the air in the room. Holy Cow, I hate that you all experienced that. But, I'm so glad you shared that. We know we'll need to be prepared before we go to Alaska.
Thanks for another great peek on your adventure. We paid tribute to you and pulled our trailer out for a weekend. We stayed close enough to come back to the ranch to feed twice a day but it was still fun. We live close to 2 lakes so we will have to try to get out more often. Stay safe.
I’m glad someone is documenting the journey for me while I work. Lol. Really though, it just keeps adding “fuel to the fire” for me to get up there to finally be able to see Alaska myself! Watch out for bears!!!
I'm amazed at how far you guys have come in a relatively short time. It wasn't that long ago when you were suffering tire failures on your first excursions and learning the ropes. Your travel and editing skills are top shelf now. As a car and tech guy, I would have loved to see more car details from the museum but still found the episode very entertaining. I'm curious about the paddlewheel boat .... many of them nowadays are diesel powered with conventional propulsion with the paddlewheel just going along for the ride for effect (free-wheeling). I didn't see the wheel actually lifting any water. Looking forward to more Alaska :-)
I thought of you when recording the truck camper. Thanks for the comment. Many people miss the good old days of KYD and all the mistakes we made. We do too in a way so we keep pushing the envelope by going to far away places to compensate for the fact we don't have as many problems that are fun to watch. Yes, the paddlewheel is a diesel with bow thrusters :) But the steering wheel was from a boat that got stuck on the river decades ago. The captain was the grandson of the guy you started the company. Still some history for a highly touristy activity.
I was going to comment on the truck camper LOL :-) We have the opposite of that one, in all respects (weight, size, cost etc). Yoly and I did the dinner cruise on (if memory serves) The River Queen out of Savannah under a very similar propulsion system. I think there is more merit in showing people how to do things right in the first place than there is in showing them how to fix failures so I'd keep doing it the way you currently are. I'm a big fan of "preventive maintenance" and the prep you guys have done makes a good example for others to follow. I'm following you guys, The Nomadic Movement and Less Junk, More Journey on your Alaska adventures. It's kinda neat how all three channels have such a different feel and perspective even though y'all are hitting the same spots almost.
Hi guys, last chimed in when you went to Yosemite National Park, and been watching your ALCAN trip which we plan to do in a couple years. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Happy to hear about the reality of the road--and see you at the Whitehorse Walmart. If you went by the prospector's museum in Whitehorse, my great grandfather's name is on the outside (Frank Back, also known by family members as Gumpy Back) who found gold in the Yukon and bought a ranch in Coeur d'Helene, Idaho with the money. Gumpy and my grandfather were building roads through the Yukon when my grandmother, Lois Austin Back from Coeur d'Helene came up with her Mom to meet her dad, and in the process met my grandfather, Thomas Edward Bee, from Sheffield England, who also worked as a Mountie at Fort Dawson in the NW Territories to pay the bills while he also prospected. Grandma took the first pictures of the Yukon and the Back/Bee collection resides in the prospector's museum in Whitehorse. Her mom, Ida Back, raised silver foxes in Carmacks (named after a guy my grandpa knew) down the road from where my grandparents lived and my Dad grew up as a child. I went to Whitehorse with my Dad and Mom before the museum was built in the 70s and now want to go to the museum, and then further north to Fort Dawson to relive family history where grandad had trading posts on the Yukon and Yellow rivers. How is it that you guys always visit places near and dear to my and my family's hearts? We heard Mark speak at the Pomona RV event last year, and should have known there was a reason why we sat down and listened. Watching your trip north with the greatest of interest and will follow you on your journey for tips for our upcoming one. What time is it again up there ;) Ron Bee
I totally appreciate your thoughts on planning ahead for important holidays. Sorry you didn't have an epic 4th of July, Tricia but I love that you made the best of it anyway. And yes, I agree that we should have more colour in our lives!!!
Hello , I love your channel!!!! My son lives in Fairbanks, we will be there to visit him in 2 weeks. we are coming from Upper Michigan . Thanks for letting me preview some places to visit!!!! We have a reflection also and hope to be full-time in the future!!!! Safe travels !!! I am looking forward to see more videos.
I enjoyed watching this video. I like your videos but this one I liked a lot more. Mostly the antique cars. The paddle boat ride the scenery the dogs the pipeline. I learned a lot.
Another great video. Your channel is by far our favorite one for travel. Alaska is on our bucket list but with the time commitment it takes to drive there from Indiana it may have to wait until we retire. God Bless
Enjoying your Alaskan trip. Lots of cool stuff to see. Great car museum and paddle boat tour. Great to meet some insiders. Enjoyed the old time music and the dapper hats.
Thank you once again for another exciting video, we truly learn the more we watch. As your adventure continues so does ours, on to the Wisconsin Dells for the next Heartland Rally! Be safe out there!
Loved the shot of the bush plane cruising so close to the water. Think I'll have to put pilot license on my bucket list. Say, you can get a "socket adapter" for your cordless power drill and raise/lower your stabilizers much faster and more easily. Entertaining episode!
When you make it to Anchorage you have to, have to eat at the Moose Tooth pizza and pub. The best pizza we have had. And there was a little wine bar called Crush Wine Bistro and Cellar. Soo good. Cheers, John
Did you buy the hat🤔? You seem to be one of those guys who looks good in any hat. Me not so much. It’s my ears but my wife still hangs with me. 42 years of big ear jokes and I am the one telling them. I enjoy so much being part of your journey from the tools for newbies through Alaska. Keep enjoying life and thanks for sharing. God bless and safe travels Joe
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing your Alaska adventure. As always have fun....even though your 4th of July was quiet this year. Happy and Safe Travels!😊
Rock Tamers are awesome. I had a pair that I used while hauling RVs netween Oregon and Washington. The only dislike was that the affecte my fuel economy when I wasn't towing. The had about a 2.5 mpg impact. Seems hard to believe, but I drove the same route 100+ times while hauling RVs, so I knew what my MPG was constantly.
Our Daughter and Son-in-law work for the NPS and we're stationed at Denali. My Wife visited 8 time I went 7. They owned quads so we were fortunate to explore a whole lot of Alaska that most never see. While visiting the Pip line they had a retired PIG. Which I proudly posed next to for a photo. One Retired PIG to another. I think we bonded that day. Travel Safe!
Very informative vlog!!! LOVE hats and museums!! Y'all are too funny!! You should have bought the hat!! 😉😁❤️ Great info for my "bucket list"! Y'all stay safe!! OH!! And I LOVED the music and scenery too. Lol
Another excellent video. Thanks for sharing! The car museum was so cool! Love the hat too. Looks good... my kids make fun of my Aussie hat like the other one you have. I still wear it camping though!😁
Welcome to Alaska. I lived in North Pole for three years, and now I live in Seward. DON'T MISS SEWARD! If you are here now, and want any recommendations reach out to me. The car museum in Fairbanks is a hidden gem. It was one of my favorite places to visit, and isn't really advertised. I'm loving watching your journey, and Less Junk More Journey. We just purchased our RV on Friday 😊. Let the good times roll!
Keep Your Daydream , if you have time visit Exit Glacier. If you have a lot of time hike up to Harding Icefield. Sea kayaking is a lot of fun too. The whale sightings in the bay have slowed down, but there are a few here. Kayakers were up close and personal with a couple of humpbacks by Fox Island a few days ago. Seward Ocean Excursions is the best guy to go out with. Small boat, local, and just a great guy. If you enjoy hiking, Lost Lake, Mt. Marathon (Jeep trail access), and Mt. Alice are a few favorites. If you want to snag for Salmon from the shore, we (my husband) would be glad to show you where and how 😊. Safe travels.
Great info. I'm interested in running Mt. Marathon, but I heard the trail can be hard to follow at times. We snag'd some salmon at Wolverine Creek and the boys rods are rig'd for catching salmon from shore. If you're IG, dm us with info in Seward. We're all ears.
Keep your eyes and ears alert if hiking around the trail and glacier in Seward (the exit glacier) when I took my mom to Seward we decided to go check it out. We were walking up the paved pathway and a few people were walking back down. They said there was a few bears and Cubs up the way so we aired on the side of caution and turned around. The Columbia glacier in Valdez is awesome. We rented a helicopter and flew over it and then landed on it.
When hiking anywhere in Alaska always bring bear spray. It just goes with the territory....even in our own yard. Fortunately, they are far more interested in the salmon.
We had the same type of switch fail on our 5th wheel landing gear. Very easy to swap out. I did use some sealant around the new one to hopefully keep water out better.
Thanks for all the vids! They're great....I have secretly planned a way to make my wife watch them because we both want a travel trailer. She is an accountant and, therefore, a worrywart about money. You have done wonders to ease her tension. She is SO close....so very close. Please pray that she will pull the proverbial stick out of the mud! ;-) While we can't and don't want to do it full time. It is a life that we are looking for as far as long trips multiple times a year. Look forward to the next vid.
We're enjoying the videos slowly evolving, but are not being rigid in the direction it goes. I'm curious to know what they will be like a few years from now :)
When we lived in Fairbanks in the 90s on 4th of July we would go to Alaskaland now I think it is called Pioneer Park and have a picnic. Not only was there a fly over but military band played. At the end they played 1812 Overture and shot off real howitzers. It was so cool. Sad they didn't do that for you. My favorite restaurant in Fairbanks is Thai House. We went every Saturday for lunch. We have never found another Thai restaurant that even has come close.
Love the hat! It reminds me of my dad, he always called it his "go to hell hat" because it was his favorite and if you didn't like it you could go to hell. Haha. Love your videos and watching your family evolve. Keeps me eagerly waiting for Sunday and the next installment.
Thank you for your tips, your humor and for sharing your adventures with us. We truly appreciate you!
Sweet post.
I’m so jealous! I live vicariously thru your travels! So much fun and we learn tons to boot! Thanks again for taking us along!
My most famous quote, no one has yet to publish... If it’s easy being a father, you’re doing it wrong. Marc, nice job!
Totally agree with Trish...Fourth of July is my favorite too!!
OLT
Filming takes it to another level for a trip. It makes you look at everything different.
That's awesome. TN is on the list for 2019 if our plans comes together. Are there oranges there? ;)
I stumbled across this museum while visiting Fairbanks and you guys are right. It is awesome!
We lived in Alaska for 6 years, and one year in Whitehorse, YT with my husbands job. Thanks for the memories! I miss Alaska!
That's a good word about planning in advance for the holidays we enjoy and look forward to most. As a full time RV newbie, I appreciate those sorts of "heads up"!! As always, we appreciate your quality content. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us!!

I love visiting the Fairbanks car museum. It was really cool to see that old school electric vehicle.
Auto museum was so cool. Nice drone shots. Alot packed in to this video. It was great. Thanks!😎👍
Mark, a man of MANY hats! It works for you man!
So excited for y'all checking out Fairbanks was born there and semi raised ;) just moved from there to TX recently! Hope you enjoy your time and travels in Alaska ♥️

I'm not a car buff either, but those oldies were awesome! Gotta love the beautiful fashions. You guys look great in the "car" hats.
Hey guys this was such a great episode! Your videos and lifestyle have inspired our family to want to live the RV Dream!! We are working on a 2 year plan and hope to hit the road in 2020 with our kids!! Keep up the great work, love the editing:)

2020 is almost over...did you hit the road .. ? Covid and all? People need to know....
I couldn't agree more - less disposable stuff! Thank you again for the great video!
Marc, love that driving hat and the auto museum was way cool. I drool over antique vehicles and it was different seeing the fashions of the day interspersed among the cars I really enjoyed the tour. Loved the video, can't wait for more.
Best of TH-cam in travel category.
I always learn something very useful from your videos. Looking forward to the next adventure.
Great video & Trish, Independence day is my favorite holiday too. It looks like a beautiful place to visit, I hope you're enjoying your experience.
Trish, thanks for this week's history lesson, it was excellent as always. Marc, we had the same issue with one of our switches. It turnd out to be a corroded connection wire at the switch, $14 and I replaced the switch.

Fantastic episode! Your videos are top notch I look forward to them every week.
Fabulous video! I live here in NP and my wife and I have been watching your videos. We’re not owners of an RV or travel trailer yet but your videos are a great source of information. Thanks for what you do and I hope you enjoyed your stay in Fairbanks.
Adding Fairbanks to the “must stop” list! I would love the car museum!!
Nothing not to love. Great video. Rocktamers are awesome.
Love your videos! I feel like I am with with you and learning so much. You guys rock! Thank you!
You and Trish continue to inspire our family with your videos, thank you. Oh and I totally dig your hat selections.
The Chena River is beautiful glad you guys decided on stopping in to Fairbanks you will like Juno to

You guys are my favourite YT channel! Wish the videos were longer and didn’t have to wait a whole week for the next episode 😀👌🏻
I’m glad someone is documenting the journey for me while I work. Lol. Really though, it just keeps adding “fuel to the fire” for me to get up there to finally be able to see Alaska myself! Watch out for bears!!!
Another great vlog in the continuing series, Keeping Your Alaska Day Dream...
Thank you for the ‘Bob’ tip - so helpful and a great KYD original!
Good vid, guys. The hats look good. Always fun to see the old fashions still look good today... Kep up the great work..
Enjoyed seeing Fairbanks, our mine has it’s Christmas party at the car museum every year great place to go. Stay safe on the rest of your trip.
My rescue pup Ruby has anxiety issues. Sounds like Fairbanks is the place I need to be on the 4th. 😀👍🏻
Jody's Journey just not down to Alaskaland....they do the 21 gun salute with cannons.

Great video as always!! Keep ‘em coming!
Great Video!!! Looks like you guys are having a blast, and we can come along for the ride 👍
Love the hat! We are also on the road again. Az to NH with lots of historical stops along the way. Tomorrow, RV museum in Elkhart.
I totally appreciate your thoughts on planning ahead for important holidays. Sorry you didn't have an epic 4th of July, Tricia but I love that you made the best of it anyway. And yes, I agree that we should have more colour in our lives!!!

You guys rock. love your energy and commentary !
I loved this! We were visiting Arizona and our July 4th was much like this. NO FIREWORKS! LOLOL
Great video's. My wife and I are thinking about full time RVING.
Your videos are a great help keep them coming.
Enjoy life.
Loved the shot of the bush plane cruising so close to the water. Think I'll have to put pilot license on my bucket list. Say, you can get a "socket adapter" for your cordless power drill and raise/lower your stabilizers much faster and more easily. Entertaining episode!
Nice hat Mark. Especially love the tag hanging off the back. Ha Ha Sharon Shetler
Saw the very same tour back in August 2014 (river cruise)! So much cool stuff to do in Alaska in the summer.
Thank you guys I am hooked on you cant wat for another episode
Cool to see Mitch and Melody! Known them for a while. Enjoyed your tour of my home town...
Awesome...Hope you guys are having fun...I know it looks like you guy are....Love AK ...Wasllia was my home town/Big lake for 35 years...Good times
Nice job guys, stay safe out there. Don’t get to close to the bears, because I need my Sunday video fix. 😍
Lol
You’ve gotten so professional, and yet super interesting. Awesome job, guys!! 👏🏻❤️♥️
Great info for my "bucket list"!
We have a charter there among other things. We'll be there for a week or so.
Hey guys my youngest grandson is at ft wainwright Alaska , he is a helicopter mechanic . I watch your videos a lot. Great job
We had the same type of switch fail on our 5th wheel landing gear. Very easy to swap out. I did use some sealant around the new one to hopefully keep water out better.
Great video as always! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
Love the tag on the rear of your hat 11.00
Yet another amazing video. I cant wait to get to go out more.
Getting caught up on the most entertaining family on TH-cam.
Love to see you guys meet up with Less junk more journey!
Anchorage episode in a few weeks.
Marc, that driving cap, (flat cap) is so you. I like it better than the Uncle Sam hat...and that says a lot. LOL!!
That is one smart looking cap, Sir! Very dapper!
I can't help but laugh at the beginning of this episode, it starts right where the previous episode left off.... Caleb missing his shoes!
Your video's and season gets better every week. I can't wait to see what's next! #KYD
Pretty amazing. Me thinks you have a future in videography. Each week is just better and better. Setting a high var for yourselves
There is a lot of Thai options in AK, especially Fairbanks.
Love the hat! It reminds me of my dad, he always called it his "go to hell hat" because it was his favorite and if you didn't like it you could go to hell. Haha. Love your videos and watching your family evolve. Keeps me eagerly waiting for Sunday and the next installment.
:) That's funny!
bridges 2 Anywhere 😂
Looks great as always! Nice map graphic. Fancy!
I like the *new* new Alaska hat. |. Also lovin’ the map layer...ooo.
