I’m still waiting on a blu ray for around the world in 80 days
I have just watched the Arrow 4k UHD of The Magnificent Seven for the 3rd time in 2 days. 1st of all I love your breakdowns of the films you review. This version cements in my mind how great this film is. I don't know if you or others will agree with me but the new color grading on this version and the depth of detail completely changes the feel of this film. There is a stark realism I never got before. The darker tones makes the story feel like I'm there with these men as they go thru the events. It almost feels like a dramatic documentary that includes one of the greatest film scores of all time. I already love Steve McQueen in this and The Great Escape but there is really an almost 3d effect to the actor's nuanced performances. I think this is my favorite western and in my top 5 movies of all time. Thank you again. Keep it up. I'm relying on your reviews in making my 4k choices.
It's a Shout factory release not Arrow.... No idea who has the UK or European rights to it but in the USA and Canada it's Shout Factory.

I should get this one as 1. My dad loved and always watched westerns while I was growing up and 2. I still remember the theme of this movie from the times it’d play in Six Flags America’s Wild West show.

I used to love Six Flags back in the day when I used to be able to ride rollercoasters 🎢 it was such a fun place to go!😜

Also to answer your other question with just a little more details & depth, I wasn’t sure how long you’ve been following me & my channel or if you knew that of the 4 different professionally calibrated 4K TV’s that I use to test & analyze each release & that I personally own & use are the:
LG G2 OLED Gallery Edition 65” &
Samsung QN95B Quantum OLED 75”
Paired along with both of my properly calibrated Panasonic UB820 4K UltraHD players they each deliver outstanding 4K picture quality!
Though my personal favorite of all my displays if I had to choose only one would be the LG G2 OLED Gallery Edition, it’s an amazing TV!🤩

It was great to hear from someone who knows they're stuff rather than the usual youtube reviewer "wow guys, the 4K looks really high resolution on this one, wow the colours really pop guys".

I think it looks great my question is WHEN this scan was done because the disc don't mention that part (which is strange) this could be a very old scan, but I agree it's the best it's ever looked.

Being I am watching this video in 1080p I can see that the color and dynamic range grading is better than the previous blu-ray.. HDR decoding is not necessary.
Is the blu-ray that is included a new transfer or is it the 2010 transfer?

My "fanboy" comment was a compliment on the comparison photo of the pine trees and how that is perfect evidence of the benefits of 4k and hdr even with youtube compression

Steve McQueen was a big scene stealer in this movie, much to the annoyance of Yul Brynner. If the scene was focused on Brynner, Mc Queen would do things that draw attention to himself. If Brynner was reciting his lines, McQueen might be next to him or just behind him and take off his hat to wipe his brow so viewers would notice him.
If only they had cast someone other than Horst Buchholz. He's no Toshiro Mifune.
