Based on the 1954 epic Akira Kurosawa Seven Samurai.
The Magnificent Seven had 3 sequels; Return Of The Seven 1966, The Guns Of The Seven in 1969, and Magnificent Seven Ride! 1972, a live action TV series that ran from 1998-2000, and a 2016 reboot with Denzal Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke.
Saw Seven Samurai and it was amazing ❤❤❤

I can't imagine complaining about having to "sit through" Elmer Bernstein's classic opening theme to this movie.

It’s too bad you did not enjoy the long intro. All the opening intro credits gave the audience a chance to enjoy the theme music of ‘The Magnificent Seven’ composed by Elmer Bernstein. It is considered one of the greatest and beloved and instantly recognized musical score from a film. It is still performed today on stage by symphony orchestras around the world.
I thought this one was by far and away the best one.
I think about five of the cast members were veterans in real life.
Charles Bronson, one of the truly legit tough guys in Hollywoid.
These are some of the biggest name's in Westerns of the time Yul Brynner, Charles Bronson, James Colburn, the king of cool him self Steve McQueen.
I think the member of the Seven who couldn't shoot was suffering from PTSD.
Rock solid movie.
Fun fact, Mcqueen would do random things like fiddle with his had or whatever to draw attention to him subtly when in a scene when Brynner was talking (ex: when they are on the wagon headed out) and it would piss Brynner off so much

You picked an all-time great film with this. This was like assembling the Dream Team.
There had been complaints from civil rights groups that Mexicans were always portrayed as dirty in western movies, so when they made this film that made a point with every Mexican farmer in a bright white clean outfit. It ended up looking a little silly, but no one could complain!

U got to watch “the good, the bad, & the ugly” it’s an amazing movie & it’ll blow ur mind how it destroys modern films
That $850 for the hearse is about 30K in today's money. Yeah that $20 was like $600

R.I.P Treat Williams he died on Monday from a motorcycle crash he was 71. He starred in my favourite creature feature DEEP RISING a forgotten gem with loads of actor's people will recognise
He also appeared in one of my favorite 90s superhero movies The Phantom (1996).

Funny thing about this movie you can see Steve McQueen and Yul Brenner quietly fighting each other for camera space... you will see a little lean or tilt. 🤠🙂🎥

Eli Wallach didn't want third billing or to play the villain. Until someone pointed out the role could be a career maker. And it was.
Great group of actors in this film. Yule Brenner plays a good part in The Ten Commandments.
FYI the term riding shotgun came from the passenger on wagon having a shotgun to protect the wagon

If you liked this, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn were together a few years later in the classic "The Great Escape" (1963) about real events in WW2.

Hands down the best western ever. Put it against any of them and they don't top the story, themes, acting, music.

1. It is a fantastic western.
2. It depends on what you like. I like the Searchers and TGTB$TU better. But that's just my preference. If someone puts this as #1, I get it.

Back during this time, movie unions/guilds demanded the list of credits at the start of a film. Only a few movies broke this trend prior to the 70s. Citizen Kane, 1941. Around the World in 80 Days, 1956. Several James Bond movies helped change the trend. In 1962, The Longest Day was perhaps the first to use rolling ends credits over a video. One of the biggest noteworthy names in this change was Star Wars in 1977, and George Lucas was fined and even quit the Director's Guild of America over the situation.
Also Otto Preminger's "In Harm's Way."
I saw this classic Western at the Brevoort Theater in Brooklyn, New York back in 1960. As a ten year old this film made a huge impact on me. It remains an all time favorite of mine. Composer/Arranger, Elmer Bernstein knocked the score and iconic theme out of the park! Welcome aboard, young Man
When you watch this movie it gives you background of a gunfighter. Home none wife none,kids none . No tie down to anyplace

I love these guys. Yul, Steve, Charles, James, and Eli all in one movie. I think you would enjoy “To Hell and Back”. Based on the autobiography of Audie Murphy. True hero. WWII soldier and I think he is the most decorated soldier of the war. I think he received every US combat award for valor, as well as some from other countries. After the war he started acting. He plays himself in the movie. He also made some good cowboy movies.
Now you gotta watch the three amigos.

This might be my favorite movie for a lot of reasons. The dialogue, the acting, the action. But the main reason, my dad saw this movie in the theater with his dad, when it first came out. And then I watched it with my dad.
I have a great mom, sister, and older brother, but this was my dad's and mine movie. This was our movie. When I was sick, when there wasn't anyone else in the house, we watched this.
This was like a man's movie. It told me about courage, respect, friendship, fear.
And now I see a real man watch it and understand everything in the movie......let me just say, I'm glad you're watching older movies

Tombstone is okay but you need to watch the original movie Gunfight at the O.K Corral
Battle Beyond the Stars (1980) was a pretty solid, sci-fi take on The Seven Samurai/Magnificent Seven concept. John Sayles (writer and/or director of such classics as Alligator, The Howling, Brother from Another Planet, Eight Men Out, and Men with Guns) wrote the screenplay, so you know it isn't your typical shlock (although it's DEFINITELY fun, 80's cheese at this point). Jimmy Murikami directed a cast of former all-stars like George Peppard (of The A-Team), John Saxon (Enter the Dragon), Richard Thomas (IT: The Miniseries), Sybil Danning (the smokin' hot star of Caged Heat), and Robert Vaughn (the guy who had nightmares in this very film, kind of reprising the same role, and somehow doing it better).
A then-unknown composer named James Horner did the score (one that was so popular he was asked to basically just "do that again" for films like Krull, Star Trek II & III, and Aliens. Speaking of which, legendary Terminator/Avatar/Titanic writer-director James Cameron himself designed the space ships, painted the matte paintings and backgrounds, and helped create the film's surprisingly solid special effects (he never talks about it though because he said he didn't sleep for a few months and never really got paid).
It was LESS THAN HALF the budget of Star Wars: A New Hope at just $2 million dollars (A New Hope was $10 million, but then went up to $13 million to finish the FX), and yet remains the most expensive movie ever made by B-movie producer Roger Corman (I believe it was also his most financially successful).
It's a bit cheesy by today's standards, and yes, Corman notoriously re-used the effects for Space Raiders, Starquest II, Vampirella, The Fantastic Four, Dead Space, Forbidden World, and even appears during a climactic scene in Tom Hanks' classic comedy, Bachelor Party, but it's also pretty GOOD.
As a final note of trivia, composer James Horner returned to the Seven story one last time when he was approached by Denzel and action-director Antoine Fuqua to score the most recent remake of The Magnificent Seven. Horner died in a tragic plane crash before principal photography even started, but he was so excited, he'd started composing early, intending to present the music to Fuqua as a surprise. The score was finished by a mutual friend, but listen carefully and you can not only hear a few nods to Elmer Bernstein's classic Magnificent Seven score, but ALSO a few nods to the score from Battle Beyond the Stars. Anyway, might want to check it out if you're looking for some fun, laser-blasting, space battle action. But whatever's next, thanks for another great reaction/review!!!

I don't know if you're a fan of westerns at all Devin or you passively watch with us but Steve McQueen he had a TV show that I watch to this day every morning I get up I have my coffee and I watch me some Wanted Dead or Alive. My grandpa big giant Western fan grew up riding horses South Dakota he was a cowboy not I I'm a city boy with one foot in the country😂. But yeah I love that have gun will travel Tales of Wells Fargo I'm watching The High Chaparral while watching this with you Henry Darrow played manolito my favorite character. You recognize the bad guy? He's in a couple Clint Eastwood movies. Alright I'll shut my mouth now and will watch this movie great flick
