I went to aggy school at U-Mass, Professor was talking about manure, asked him how to tell if you put too much manure on your fields. He didn't miss a beat and said your tractor gets stuck.
Pretty good trailer backing Pete. To be a farmer it means you have to know just about every discipline, mechanics, engineering, accounting, chemistry, animal husbandry, agronomy and so on and so on...let alone the day to day farm operations. If anyone complains about your varied videos, they are nuts. I enjoy every one.
It's funny how the more of this I watch, the better friend this man becomes....and I really don't know him personally. I only wish our political leaders would portray such images.
David, great wish but a person full of himself can only produce selfishness. I have no hope for change in politicians. I spent much money and years of energy trying to elect good candidates only to watch them turn into selfish egomaniacs. Out of the fullness of a heart the mouth speaks, even shouts!
I have stumbled upon this channel by sheer coincidence from over here in South Australia ! What a thoroughly charming bloke to have representing US farmers ! I have great respect for his honest ,forthright and informative portrayal of life in your part of the world! The world needs more genuine people like him
Fantastic!!! My perspective of the negative comments. I absolutely have enjoyed all aspects of your farm, from mechanic fixes, live stock, infrastructure, solar, building, everything!!! Keep up the good work, you are inspiring!!! Not to mention just a great guy!
Congratulations Pete you are now my favorite site, enjoying your journey on the small farm operation and really enjoy your method of presentation .Yes farming is a lot of mechanics with common sense ingenuity.YOU have a GOOD sense of identity.
WOW.........that is beautiful! So much work and organization and looks brand new. What an accomplishment Pete. Thank you so much for including us, I so enjoyed. 👍😃💖
THANK YOU! EVERYTHING ADDS UP TO FARMING INCLUDING THE REPAIRS... SOME OF US WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE REPAIR SOMETHNG TO MAKE IT EASIER ON US... THERES JUST SOME PEOPLE YOU CAN'T LISTEN TO, NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU WANT TO HELP THEM... THEY DON'T WANT TO BE HELPED... GOD BLESS YOU YOUR FARM, AND YOUR FAMILY
Our farmer daddy, who would've been 103 years old this year, would be SO proud of you and your wise farming ways there!!! The natural usage of manure on your fields would have made him smile!!! And, like you were saying about mechanics being a integral part of farming, our dad also went by the saying USE IT UP, WEAR IT OUT, MAKE IT DO, OR DO WITHOUT. He was always making repairs on anything that broke down. Just part of life on the farm. ;o)
I have just retired from 40 years of driving tractor trailers, including double trailers. I must say, that was some impressive backing that you did. My hat's off to you!
Nice job on backing up that wagon. I used to back up wagons when I was on the farm, that extra axel changes everything. I got pretty good at it and your right, a narrow front tractor works much better than a wide front.
Pete, aww, nice doing on those wagons, sure wish I’d known that 60 years ago,I never had the problem of picking up square bales, that’s all we did was square, however picking up,then gotta throw that same bale, much taller than I was at 13/14 yrs old, that used to beat me more than anything. Used to use a hay hook, but that didn’t work real well when come time to throw on that top row, lots of wonderful memories for me! See ya,on the your next vid.
Part of the fun of farming of any kind is the fixing of broken stuff. :) Even with my IH 140 there are things from time to time that I need to fix. My latest was my woods mower belt snapping half way through mowing. When I was a teen and we were haying there was always something to be fixed. It's just part of the charm. So, with that in mind, I learned early on that you just fix it and move on. You do some excellent videos and I really enjoyed your work on your MD. I was at the huge show in Mount Pleasant Iowa yesterday and saw a few MDs and a few Super MDs and I thought of your project right away. It's so much fun to see the stuff you drove as a kid, and still drive when you go to tractor shows.
Running out of hay really is stressful. We live next door to a large buffalo and cattle ranch and they buy all the hay in our out of the way little township. We support the small farmer with the little bit of hay we sell. We are regenerating our pastures and leave 1/3 of the hay on a field then cut it down to feed the bacteria and soil fungus. Its interesting and makes great hay. Am learning about soil health and trying a few things the last few years. Sent my other half this video to inspire him to fix and use the manure spreader we bought 5 years ago, lol. Peace frrom Peace Country BC Edit; Your breakdown of manure fertilizer per acre was amazing. Made me feel sorry for those who buy chemical fertilizers, not to mention their pockbook!
Your farm revolves around the old tractors. The mechanical videos still portray your day to day life on your farm not to mention the mechanical education provided. Keep em comin.
I like your repair video's and your old non computerized equipment. You can't please the world so don't bother trying. Best of luck, stay healthy.....................
HI there Pete. I love your backing skills. I watched a tractor unit back 2 loaded trailers through a gap with about 3 inches to spare either side. I wouldn't even think of trying it. I love seeing your mechanical repairs to jeep the task going. I agree with you...mechanical repairs are part of farming. Good joke...I like that one.
I would just like to say hi from the San Carlos Apache tribe I've really enjoyed your TH-cam channel ,it's always and still a dream of mine to start a little mini farm, and happy to say that your teaching me a lot through your channel,so thank you and Hillary🙂
just discovered this channel and i loved it right away, gonna watch these videos for a while.. simply loved the content! great job backing up that trailer!
Well done backing that wagon. When I was little Dad was pretty good at it. Eventually he said "Heck with it" and he put in a second door to just drive right through. Also, I learned a long time ago from my senior neighbors that you can never have too much hay..... Or firewood.
Great job with the video...love watching you work with the animals...so gratifying...I wish I could still do the things you do...I have prostate cancer and I don't have any energy.. keep up the good work and awesome videos...can't wait till your next one...thanks Pete...
Every time I watch one of Pete’s videos and hit the thumbs up I look and can’t ever believe how he ever even has one thumbs down. Educational, funny and always a great watch
Just bought 40-acres of farmland in south central MO and can't wait to retire to it in just over 2-years. Have to start from scratch - house/shop/barn and interior fencing (it's all perimeter fenced), but can't wait. Coming to work everyday is getting harder knowing that my property is sitting there waiting. Grew up on a farm in the 80's and couldn't wait to leave it, now,,,,older and wiser, can't wait to get back to it!!
Great video Pete...A little bit of most everything!! I had a little experience backing wagons on the farm...It's quite the challenge, but a narrow front tractor definitely helps!! Happy Easter to you and your family Pete!!
I really admire anyone who can back a hay wagon i grew up on our farm and used to watch Grandpa back two wagons up the barn bridge just like you said lol i however took the cheater rout and drilled a hole in one of my pallet forks and just push it in lol
Good stuff! I learn something new every time I watch one of these videos! I am a small engine mechanic by trade and do not farm but I must say that these videos are fantastic!
We grew up with spotting hitches on our tractors. I guess I was spoiled. Still have them on my tractor today. Happy Easter Pete, Hillary, and family! Cheers! Whipple
Another excellent job on editing and camera work! Have no idea how much extra work goes in to get all the shots you get but they sure add to the quality of your videos. Another excellent segment
I like seeing that you acknowledge the feed you buy is bringing fertility to your farm. I appreciate that you had the chance to bag on mega farmers but chose not to in another video. Your farm is in symbiosis with the big grain farms. Both have a place, 40 acres of grain though would never support a family.
Our utility tractors were mostly wide front. Turned them on a dime, just had to use the brake. Did that for hours on end pulling a two-row cultivator. Had a narrow front for a while, but it kept tipping over on almost level ground, so we put a wide front on it.
Have u ever considered building a diy compost/worm tea brewer you can spray on your fields between annual manure applications? Would think it would be pretty cost effective...
I liked the movable hitch on your hay wagons... and all the other details on their build. it has been interesting to see how people work and live in northern climes... We live in deep south Texas where we had the first bad freeze in since 1989... so seeing how people get along in the snow and frozen ground is interesting....
I went to aggy school at U-Mass, Professor was talking about manure, asked him how to tell if you put too much manure on your fields. He didn't miss a beat and said your tractor gets stuck.

Pete there are a lot of people spreading a bunch of crap on the internet but you make it a worthwhile watch 😂. Thanks for the videos.
I get what u mean

As do I. It doesn't matter the topic!! Informative and educational. My kids enjoy them too.
Like pap used to say a farmer is a jack of all trades master of milking
And politicians have the nerve to call it "unskilled labor"
Wisdom. With jokes to boot! That's a win-win for us all!
I lost count, but this may have been a five or six joke video. A new record, way to go Pete!
Stellar job of backing that wagon. I’ve backed many when young and I am highly respectful.
It's funny how the more of this I watch, the better friend this man becomes....and I really don't know him personally. I only wish our political leaders would portray such images.

Had to stop watching and comment after you parked that wagon. A++
me too
And the same time I had
Great wagon backing skills, I am impressed!
You are a farmer outstanding in your ...... field!!!!!
Thank you Pete for the science lesson on manure! People has lost this knowledge, it's good to review.
We fabricated a front hitch on our super h and it made life ALOT easier!!

Love the sound of your H. Reminds me of my youth on the farm.
I have just retired from 40 years of driving tractor trailers, including double trailers. I must say, that was some impressive backing that you did. My hat's off to you!
My sister in-law dad was a dairy farmer, she could back 2 trailers hooked together. The old honey wagon. Thanks for the upload.
Nice job on backing up that wagon. I used to back up wagons when I was on the farm, that extra axel changes everything. I got pretty good at it and your right, a narrow front tractor works much better than a wide front.
I used to back two wagons at one time on the farm
I worked with a guy that couldn’t back one
I sure miss the farm

Loved every minute of this one, reversing, knowledge of the poo, even the jokes divided me by multiplying :)
I owned a Super H with a wide front and factory power steering, nothing like the sound of an H taking off in "road" gear. LOVE IT

Add a front hitch receiver to your bucket. So nice!
Also as much as I enjoyed your jokes the cow sniffing with it’s wet nose was just awesome.

My Dad welded a hitch on the front of our A Farmall to back our wagons into our barn . Worked great it was a tight area to back our wagons in.

brilliant, I LOVE your organic method of fertilizer. No big AG here, sustainable farming. Pete is SMART-and I am sure his lovely wife is, too.
never mind the haters. You are doing a fine job in my books! Keep up the great work.
Great video Pete...A little bit of most everything!! I had a little experience backing wagons on the farm...It's quite the challenge, but a narrow front tractor definitely helps!! Happy Easter to you and your family Pete!!
I got to have fun with my H today too. Fixed the belt pulley and drove it around. Soon I’ll have the small farm to go with my tractors.
Your comment on needing to be a mechanic is so spot on!
I really admire anyone who can back a hay wagon i grew up on our farm and used to watch Grandpa back two wagons up the barn bridge just like you said lol i however took the cheater rout and drilled a hole in one of my pallet forks and just push it in lol
I am a farmer and it is a lot easy backing up a wagon if you use the drawbar in the front of the tractor. love the videos keep up the good work.
Just love ANY day on the farm 👍👍💛

Both have a place, 40 acres of grain though would never support a family.
"I like these Worms" - cut - sends them through shredder spreader ;D
Worms can regenerate from either end.
They also have both male & female parts .
I tell you what, those red oldies are a gem to have on in a small family farm.
It is just awesome watching you reverse into that barn🤞🏿👌🏿.
Our utility tractors were mostly wide front. Turned them on a dime, just had to use the brake. Did that for hours on end pulling a two-row cultivator. Had a narrow front for a while, but it kept tipping over on almost level ground, so we put a wide front on it.
Wow! Watching you back that wagon brought back memories of backing the hay hauling trailers when I was growing up. They are really tricky.
Great job backing that wagon. It’s no small feat. My dad was excellent at doing it, me not so much.
I grew up driving a Farmall H/C Tractor. Love the way they run and very dependable
The loader bucket seems to work great too. Good job!
Great vids Pete. I enjoy watching them. I am amazed to see the amount of work you do and keep everything up and running and clean.
Well done Pete. It helps to hook the trailer tongue to a hitch on the front of the tractor, its like backing a kiddie wagon with your hand.
Great job backing that trailer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My dad built a tricycle tractor many years ago, and he knew the benefits of it. He used car parts in his build.
Dahlen have a new phone number and I’ll call them back when they are ready to come back from your office to pick up the phone call from work
Great sounding tractor my dad had 2of them really enjoyed driving them
Pete, what a great idea for the hay wagon. Mind if I borrow your ideas? BTW I find watching your videos is how I relax. Thanks for that.
Always a pleasure to watch……thank you Pete

It blew my mind that you could back up that 4 wheel wagon. I could never do it. You're a genius. :-) :-)
i love the sound an H or M makes when you pull out on the road in 4th and then go to 5th and out on the clutch. You know your about to move!
You are really good backing that up you would make a lot of people proud up here in Alaska
Well you did a great job at putting that in there speaking from experience. Nice job with the trailer
Keep the great videos going. I enjoy them. Talk about being a jack of all trades. Wow.
No one can say you don’t know crap. That’s what it’s all about!!
Have a great day Pete. 🐔🚜
Hey I'm in Ecuador and I could hear Hillary yell STOP! all the way down here.
I'm so impressed with your trailer backing skills. I was never that good, but I didn't have a tractor that was that maneuverable a your farmall.
I am truly impressed with your four wheel wagon skills. I have a Ford 640 with a hitch on the front that I use for that purpose. Again I’m impressed.
5:48 haven't you been doing that during the entire production? Hey, does the farmers market have open mic nite? ;-)
