Sasuke often wielded it in reverse grip like a tanto that could be wielded like a sword if needed. He could gauge the bladed end because: 1) he is used to carrying it and it likely has distinctive markings from wear and tear 2) he can see the small details with the Sharringan (his opponents wont know what type of blade it is until he draws it but he will... 3) it doesn't look like a sword, making it easier to conceal. *Based on how it was used:* A) it's not really a go-to tool for a fight but more of a large dagger for slicing his opponents through walls when combined with his lightning chakra type (Like when he stabbed Itachi through the chair he was sitting on. A regular Kunai or dagger wouldn't be long enough for that kind of attack). B) In a fight he often uses the sword for quick slicing attacks (going straight for the throat), and often uses his Chidori variants for the actual 1v1 fights. *As for the actual design of the sword the single edge:* 1) He sometimes uses his arm to drive the sword forward when in reverse grip... Very rarely does he actually parry anything with it. 2) It's better for thrusting through resistance (thicker than a rapier but without the cutting curve of a Katana/Nodachi or a Scimitar). 3) He is very rarely seen parrying something with the blade, so it's likely an Iado style weapon, where it is more of a quickdraw kind of weapon made for dispaching an enemy before they can react. No, just no, it's not a good thrusting sword, your hand is going to fly up that blade as soon as you stick something hard whether it's armour or bone, it's not a good sword, you basically just explained how they drew him using a sword in certain ways because of the limitations of the sword, if it's so obvious as to hamper it's use in a rules free fictional illustration then the sword has problems.

@@Wright805 Which I always thought was kinda a shame, the huge kitchen knife look was way more iconic and fun to watch in action than just another katana.
It's actually a chokutō, not a katana. Swords like Sasuke's Blade of Kusanagi were historically used very early in Japanese history starting from the Kofun period, with three main styles existing: Kabutsu-tachi, rokkaku-sōtōken, and hōtō-tachi. By the start of the Nara period, only the hōtō-tachi style survived, and the chokutō would be completely abandoned as a practical weapon of warfare in favor of the larger curved Tachi and Uchigatana/katana by the middle of the Heian period, in the 10th century. Until then, however, they served as worthy replacements to the earlier tsurugi of the Jomon period and earlier. The actual design of the chokutō itself may have been inspired by a similar sword, the Chinese jian.
I would LOVE to see a short movie with these two guys storming a palace and every time shad draws the sasuke sword, its blade is facing the wrong way, and you just hear his constant "DAMNIT!" Echoing around every corner
In-universe, Sasuke specifically chose it for its compatibility with his elemental chakra affinity of Lightning Style. The design was chosen solely because it was more conducive to Lightning Style chakra flow jutsu like Chidori Katana.
Riiight. How is it more conductive to lightning though? And why couldnt it have had a hand guard? Or a double bladed edge? Or an actual grip ffs? The design sucks, period.
@@YSleepish "Conducive". And, a cross guard would unfortunately act as a "shunt" for the flow of electricity, diverting it away from the desired path of your target.
I mean, when you can sharpen a stick with a lightning beam and extend its reach to a football field.... it doesn't really matter what side is facing the bad guy.
6:07 to be fair sasuke doesn't have this sword on his side, he has it behind him strapped to his back so he pulls it out in a reverse grip to slash. So its clearly a skill issue 😤😂
You wear daggers or shortswords in that manner too, but due to anime and fantasy it's cooler to have longer blades. Those style of wearing weapons are more akin to the concealed assassination styles of Kunoichi and such depicted in fiction and games.
As a weeb that used to love that sword, Sasuke's Kusanagi isn't great as a sword. I still have mine and it is the most uncomfortable sore to use I have ever used and the only reason I know which way the blade is facing is because of the wear on the handle. Honestly I think the design is just because it was easy to draw for the artist. Lol
Draw efficiency is pretty much at play here. Man the manga became real bloated at the tail end that they had to use many shortcuts to keep the issues coming.
Yep. Easy to draw is pretty much the reason. Even Super Saiyan has its iconic blond hair only because toriyama got sick of filling in black hair all the time.
Exactly. It's not even rule of cool. It's just easy to draw. The whole straight shaped Japanese sword blade is a myth. Never existed. I like Naruto (The manga, never watched the anime), but I can't like that specific sword.
I think Sasuke used this because he didn't really use it as a sword(most of the time.) He use it only to kill or as a medium for his ninjutsu specifically. Most of the time he still fight unarmed or with ninjutsu. He also use it as lightning rod multiple time. Supposedly, the straight katana is used by ninja for assassination and not to fight but I find that dubious.
The thing with this design is that... Sasuke's sword is set up in _Shirasaya;_ furniture intended for long-term storage of a blade, which was never intended to see combat. (The term means "white scabbard", which is somewhat ironic in this case. As for what was done when the katana was expected to see combat again; they would remove the shirasaya, and replace it with the katana's traditional combat furniture.) It's almost like Sasuke took the blade from a cache and straight up didn't bother to change the furniture. (Though given that it's marked with the uchiwa fan his clan uses as their symbol, that makes a level of sense, given his pride in his heritage.)
@@bensoncheung2801 I think you've misunderstood what I said. Shirasaya was used to store the blade of a katana long-term. Its furniture - its tsuba (guard), tsuka (handle), habaki(blade collar), saya (scabbard), and so on - would be stored separately, and could be fitted to the blade again if something were to happen and the katana was needed. This wasn't turning the katana into a "regular sword"; it was essentially taking the weapon apart and storing the pieces in a special case so that it doesn't corrode.
If you're shipping them in bulk you can just remove the tsuba for transport and put them in a separate box for later reassembly since presumably they're getting delivered to an armory or something and not meant to be used immediately out of the crate.
That would be a retarded test seeing as in the anime the point of splitting the rock was him mastering Demon Slayer/breathing techniques therefore enhancing his sword power. Something you obviously can't do in real life.
I mean, yes... if it's made of the fictional material that allows that. That's kinda why they can't ACTUALLY test Adamantium, Vibranium, Unobtanium, etc.
2:34 the thing about Sasuke’e sword is that it’s not really meant as an effective weapon by itself, it’s essentially just a conduit for his lightning style.
How so? Lightning rod for lightning style. Naruto's wind style is not trained for weapons like Asuma, is only concentrated on the training for the rassenshuriken. Naruto is water/wind Sasuke is fire/electricity
@@darkionx I mean, Asuma did train him a little bit and he learned to make wind blades for the kunai. He just used it as learning wheels for Rashen shuriken and never used it again after. But you're right: Wind would loose in the h2h against Sasuke's fire... But in most other situations it should be better, specially against lightning.
A lot of anime uses that design and I can only speculate as to why. This design it is based on is called a shirasaya. It is not meant for combat at all. It is meant for long term storage and preservation of a katana or in that case chokuto. If you did use it in combat the blade would fly out just from swinging it. The stick that has a sword hidden inside for Shad is called a shikomizue. There are many different designs for shikomizue and all of the ones I've seen have clever methods for keeping track of where the edge is and keeping you from sliding your hand up the blade while still looking like a cane or walking stick. I also wanted to mention that the naruto sword there is very very loosely based on Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi. The Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi is a tsurugi which is a double edged straight sword.
What I find personally hilarious is, this is one of like 5 impractical swords, the other 4 are from the 7 swordsman of the mist, namely Samehada, Shibuki(The explosive tag sword), Hiramekarei (Chojuro's sword that transforms into a hammer and a dual sword form), and finally Kabutowari, the giant axe and hammer combo that's held together by a strip of leather.. There's other swords like Shichiseiken which serves as more of a gunbai if anything, Sword of Nunoboko which is.. not really a sword.. The funniest of all these things is in the manga Orochimaru's Kusanagi is a standard (although less curved) katana, and the anime it's a double edged long sword that looks 'kinda asian' Is extendable, telekinetically controlled, and can transform into a snake to return to orochimaru... Sasuke's is literally just a funnel for his lightning chakra to mimic the slicing and range extensions of Orochimaru's kusanagi... It's literally just a 'really durable lightning rod sword'
It's because it's different, looks cool, and is easy to draw. Those are the primary reasons to give a character a shirasaya sword instead of a fully decked out katana.
@@soku330No. It's a Chokutō. Imported from China in the 3rd century and used until the 9th. It was replaced entirely following that time period with the more modern Japanese sword.

@@jades5772 Repeat the line: show me a single instance of his hand getting cut because his sword doesn’t have a guard. Never mind the fact that he was going blind against Bee.
Its not a Katana, its a Chokuto. Typically, these swords were not used for clashing with another sword in a dance of combat, so they dont have things like a guard. Ideally, it would deliver its killing blow before the enemy has even drawn their weapon.
No, it came from (probably) china and was only used until the 9th/10th century, when it faded from use to be completely replaced by the Japanese sword. There is no mention I can find of it being commonly used for anything other than generic warfare until being replaced, and then only for ceremony afterwords.
Technically, chokuto are katana. Same with tachi, naginata, tanto, etc. All katana by definition. What people commonly call katana today they are typically referring to uchigatana.
@@boomer.beasley Kofun period Japan was plenty capable of manufacturing iron swords as well as importing them from China and Korea. Making their own chokuto would've been fairly common.
Shinobi in naruto can focus the chakra on the soles of their feet to walk on water and walls, I don't think that focusing a little chakra on the palms of their hands to not slip towards the blade is a problem, so the guard and texture of the handle is probably unnecessary.
The bigger reason for why his sword doesn't have any wraps or a guard is because it's a shirasaya, which is just a barebones sword meant to be put in storage rather than be used in combat. When need for it arises, the blade would be taken out of the shirasaya and put into a proper handle with the necessary wraps and guard. With how little he used it I'd say he just couldn't be bothered.
yeah, it's weird, but canonical actually. It's the same logic as wall walking. That's one of the things Naruto had to learn early on as a ninja skill using his chakra to cling to walls.
It's funny that Shad mentions telescopic swords. That sword was from Naruto Shippuuden and is derived from a chokotō, a previous generation of nihontō. It is refered to as a kusanagi sword, due to him being trained by Orochimaru who uses a telescopic sword called the Kusanagi blade. Sasuke streams lightning chakra through his to increase its cutting potential and will occasionally shape the lightning to extend the blade. As for why Sasuke chose a sword, it was because the mangaka was a sasuke simp and wanted to depict sasuke as more advanced than Naruto at the beginning of Shippuuden, so he gave him a sword and stiffed Naruto with only kunai and shuriken. As to why that type of sword, probably to cut down on the time needed to draw the panels with Sasuke in them as he was already a rather overdesigned character.
@@Psycorde In Naruto they will cover a blade in lightning so it can better penetrate earth techniques or hard surfaces. Most enemies use magic (chakra) to strengthen their bodies so the lightning chakra helps get through that too.
I was about to say lol. Granted I don't know enough about the historical Japanese sword in that same style, though I do think they're longer tbf and could be disguised as a walking stick.
@ usually they disguise it better that’s true and they have some way of hinting where the edge is but they can come in various lengths. The point is that they sacrifice things for the disguise because you weren’t allowed to have a sword in the first place. If you have access to a better sword and it’s not illegal by all means use it. The only other advantage would just be surprise.
@HistoryCultureFiction oh definitely. I wasn't defending the design of it (though it does have those few niche uses like a lot of the odd weapons out there like the nagamaki). Between that and a katana/sabre/bastard sword/etc. I'm definitely choosing any of the other swords lol. Although I feel like even a traditional staff would've also been a better weapon during those periods you couldn't have swords. Do you happen to know why they used these stick swords instead of a longer and Heftier staff instead?
@ mostly because of laws. For example most Ninja weapons were made from farming tools and improvised weapons as well. A staff of course gives you more range but it is still a recognizable weapon, especially if you put some kind of a grip on it. Funny enough if you an LOTR fan, Gandalf sneaks his staff in as a walking stick. Most samurai would see through this as would plenty of warriors across the world, but it proves if you make a weapon look like something less threatening they may overlook it.
It's a good, slick, convenient design for how it was originally carried, which was in the stomach of the wielder, to be regurgitated when time to use. The lack of a cross guard really helps it on the way both up and down!
Shad is kind of on the money by arguing its the least sword a sword can be and thats kinda the point, Its not his main weapon. You're not meant to get into extended clashes of steel with this thing. Its a tool/sidearm for taking out people out who don't even know you're there. Once the anime ninja battles start he doesn't use this thing at all apart from a few occasions where hes used it in combination with some of his ninja powers such as using it as a lightning rod to empower his lightning type skills. Also his sword is a chokuto not a katana.
Well, it's more Sasuke doesn't care to use it much so he never got it in proper fittings. the blade he has in in a shirasaya, which is how the japanese stored blades to preserve them. That's why it has no hand wrappings or a guard, because they weren't meant to be used in combat.
First of all, don't review anything if you did not do any reason or haven't watched the anime where it's from🤦🏽 The sword doesn't need a guard because sasuke's powers shield's him & his ninjah skills let him doge, tank hits & survive overwhelming attacks. The sword has one shard side because it's used as an accurate close-range attack multiplier, which he only briefly uses. Sasuke mostly uses his fists, ninjustsu, & chakera in battle. The sword is only an extra addition to his arsenal solely because of the fact that he's aggressive & loves to get close & personal sometimes to show his opponent just how skilled & brutal he really can get. He can literally still slice people up with his powers alone & so can almost every other character in Naruto. His sword is a secondary, secondary weapon, not primary & he only carries it because he loves to overkill & humiliate his opponents.
You guys: your hand could slide off the handle with a dedicated thrust. Me: looks at my thumbs slashed flexor tendon for the exact same reason, but from a pocket knife
Japanese police for some reason have used strait short swords rather than curved. So there has to be something of benefit or meaning to the strait katana style that we are missing. I also think the lack of a hand guard and single edge is not a downside at all given it’s context in the anime. It is not meant to be a dueling weapon against other swords. It is more of a quick strike killing blow execution or assassination weapon once pulled out. He can channel his lightning power into it which makes it able to cut through anything. His sharingon power allows him to flawlessly avoid counter attacks or blocks and to not miss his strikes. It is also very rare for ninjas to use swords. Especially full sized ones. Let alone ninjas powerful enough that there is ever a chance for him to have to trade sword blows with them. Since most ninjas are using nothing more than kunai, his sword actually gives him a major advantage over them purely from a weapon design standpoint even without a guard or double edge. Sasuke also has super human prodigy, and later demigod levels, of ninja skill that mean he won’t let himself be in a position where his grip slips and will always know which direction he has to pull his blade out. Yeah, not a thing in real life. But definitely a thing in Naruto.
Fun video you guys actually inspired my own story and have made me want to include historically acurate sword combat in my own story. As for why Sasuke uses the blade it's because it works well for his lightning style jutsu however it is surprisingly unpractical as a sword.
To answer the question: Sasuke didn't choose that sword. It was just one of the only 3 Kusanagi swords in existence, given to him by his teacher (who had one of the other ones, which looked more like a basic uchigatana) Theoretically, thanks to Sasuke's fighting style/power set(wreathing the blade with lightning), there really wasn't many weapons that would survive a clash with that sword. He would most likely cleave right through them. As for holding onto it, he could just use the chakra cling technique(what ninjas use to cling to walls and ceilings). The sword was lost/destroyed during the last great ninja war and was eventually replaced by one that may or may not be his former master's.
4:20 Ty, youre looking for a "Derringer" or a "Pocket Pistol". Many only had a limited number of rounds, derringers often being only 1-2 barreled while later pocket pistols having small magazines of 4-5 rounds of smaller cartridges.
@@danielcox7629 Not always. Derringers fit nicely inside a breast pocket, for instance, making them the "Concealed Carry" of their day. There was a huge civilian market for them at the time, along with all sorts of other small "Palm Pistols" As for the "for women" comment, many women would use whatever guns they had on hand, depending on what the time was and where you were. My great great great grandmother, for instance, was known for her skill with a rifle due to her being farsighted. Now for city women who didnt know anything about traveling with cattle or wagons, yeah they probably had derringers more often than not.
What this episode has given me is an appreciation to the fact that whenever Sasuke thrusts his sword into something, he always has a hand on the butt of it so he doesn’t accidentally slip his grabbing hand onto the blade and all the driving force comes from his back hand. It really shows that with unique weaponry, you have to adapt your fighting style to best suit the weapon.
To answer your question about people keeping single shot pistols it is pretty common for most people to have one since it is cheaper. And a example of one is the Altor Single Shot 9mm Luger only about 100$ cheaper than most.
The guns you are thinking of are called Derringers. They were invented sometime in the 19 century and were single or two shot break action pistols that were small enough to fit inside pockets. Hence why old west brothel workers used them to deal with handys customers by concealing them within their garter belts. They are still made today and some people do actually carry them for self defense here in America due to how small and easily concealable they are. Granted having two shots of .38 or 9mm isn’t ideal in the slightest when it comes to self defense it is still better than having nothing at all.
They also may be thinking of the light card. A single shot 22 that looks sorta like a credit card. There is also a modern derringer that looks like a phone that has two shots. Most are gimmicks.
If I'm not mistaken, Derringer was known for making single or two shots pistols with the idea of ease of use and carry in mind. Thesz were dubbed "women's guns" or something to that effect
Deringer was the manufacturer and patent holder. Derringer with two rs was a cheap way to avoid the royalties. The small guns were in the class of 'holdout guns' along with sawed off pistols. Women could conceal them in a purse or hand muff and they were sometimes sold as 'muff pistols'. The muff pistol preceded Deringer and some flintlock versions remain. They all had a low muzzle velocity and sort range. Deadly enough across a table or face-to-face with an attacker, they would leave a nasty bruise when shooting you from across the room.

@@ABaumstumpfthe commenter is saying that the grip is not an issue as the ninja are able to use their chakra to hold the blade and therefore a rectangular grip is a non issue.
To answer the question about the ultra-minimalist guns, there are some that were used as emergency survival weapons by pilots, just intended to allow hunting and survival utility. There also were the disposable pistols used in France in WWII. Thier intention was to allow the holder to kill an occupying soldier and steal his gun.
8:35 i would like to also say that Sasuke’s grass cutter has a special enchantment on it where if an opponent goes to block the sword, the sword will basically phase through the attempted block and hit the target anyway. Its not touched on very much in the show, but it does in-fact do that. As sasukes sword is a clone of orochimaru’s sword which has an enchantment to be able to cut through anything. Also i believe that his sword is meant for assassinations… because hes a ninja, so a sword in that shape is easier to kill people through the floor boards of a traditional Japanese style home, which is the kind of house he and his brother grew up in. Sasukes sole goal for like 70% of the show is to kill his brother.
Originally it was meant to be a concile weapon meant to stab and run away as a assassination weapon but because it is a anime it will be used in weird ways
The funniest thing for me is that the first time I saw that sword I was a teenager and yet my first thought was not "wow, that's cool" but "that thing is terrible" especially when you see the way he pulled it out. of its sheath
When I first came to Asia, I got a chance to do some calligraphy classes with a master calligrapher. He was a very interesting person and had accolades as a jade expert and antiquities expert. He has pieces in his home that put stuff I saw later in the national museum to shame. After dinner one day, he brought a "stick" to the table. It was a cane sword just like this. He told the story of an emperor who liked to walk among his people incognito. He had bodyguards and they told him that he could not go alone. But he felt that having many guards would be too obvious and spoil his disguise. So he negotiated with them to have only 2, not 6 bodyguards. And they said OK, but he had to have a secret sword with him in case he needed to fight. He was an emperor of the Qin dynasty and that was his sword. More than 200 years old and sadly pretty corroded, nonetheless, it was impressive work. From a few feet away, you wouldn't notice the seam in the wood. A wild experience. And yeah, I know, it sounds bullshit... Except two things. #1, he was a published author and had done commissioned works for presidents and high level famous people... Which sounds like more bullshit... Except for #2, I was invited to dinner with his wife and some of her employees at a restaurant in the city and when we were there, someone came in and said that Jacky Wu was at the restaurant. I had nonidea who he is, but he's a really famous TV star. So she jumps up and says "oh I know him, he commissioned my husband to do some calligraphy work for him". Then she drags me out and there's two large bodyguards in front of a private room. She just brushed past them and walks into the room, Asian auntie style... They didn't stop her going in, but they were not so cool with me going in, but she grabbed my wrist and pulled me through... She walks in and you can see the bodyguards getting flustered and not sure how to react and Jacky gets up and addressed her by name and gives her a big hug, waving to the bodyguards to settle down. We had a brief conversation and after a few minutes, went back to our room. Leaving the restaurant, we noticed a big blue Rolls Royce parked ludicrously illegally in the street. So yeah... Turns out, not actually bullshit.
That sword is a predecessor to the Katana is called -Chokuto- It's divereces to the Kantana are: Straight edge No guard/tsuba it was in a lot of cases (not all) shorter And the handel developt over time from a short handel that gives only space to get the support hand only situation wise on the handel. And over the decades the handel getting longer to a 'regular' Katana sized handel for 2hands.
You’re literally missing the point, first off it wasn’t really used as a sword in the show and secondly you gotta use logic that makes sense in Naruto universe. They can apply chakra to their feet and literally walk on water and walls, a sword does not need a guard in their universe. It’s a fictional universe with their own sets of rules, comparing that with real world doesn’t make any sense.
Naruto became popular because it made real attempt to implement real logic to the series and therefore can very well be examined in actual world logic. Much more than most other anime anyway. Its true that Naruto shipuuden which followed the original Naruto, and when the sword was given to Sasuke, was less coherent and eventually became full anime logic.
It’s designed to be used as a tool for casting lightning magic; the fact it is a sword doesn’t actually matter. He never uses it for normal sword functions. Its shape and lack of a tsuba are to facilitate its usefulness for forming lightning magic.

A) it's not really a go-to tool for a fight but more of a large dagger for slicing his opponents through walls when combined with his lightning chakra type (Like when he stabbed Itachi through the chair he was sitting on. A regular Kunai or dagger wouldn't be long enough for that kind of attack).
B) In a fight he often uses the sword for quick slicing attacks (going straight for the throat), and often uses his Chidori variants for the actual 1v1 fights.
*As for the actual design of the sword the single edge:*
1) He sometimes uses his arm to drive the sword forward when in reverse grip... Very rarely does he actually parry anything with it.
2) It's better for thrusting through resistance (thicker than a rapier but without the cutting curve of a Katana/Nodachi or a Scimitar).

But hey if you like it, that's cool.

Honestly I think the design is just because it was easy to draw for the artist. Lol
Draw efficiency is pretty much at play here. Man the manga became real bloated at the tail end that they had to use many shortcuts to keep the issues coming.
And the cool factor as well
That design is intentional. it's a shirasaya, which is a method for storing blades to preserve them, not for combat.

As for what was done when the katana was expected to see combat again; they would remove the shirasaya, and replace it with the katana's traditional combat furniture.)
It's almost like Sasuke took the blade from a cache and straight up didn't bother to change the furniture.

He basically got it right early on when he said easier for transport/storage.
NEEEEEEEEEEEEEERD!!!
Jk honestly loved the explanation but couldnt help myself
Most anime use regular katana though

@@boomer.beasley
Kofun period Japan was plenty capable of manufacturing iron swords as well as importing them from China and Korea. Making their own chokuto would've been fairly common.
@@larquefausse3623 No duh. I was obviously talking about the style of blade.
Still won't stop your hand from sliding onto the blade if you stab something.
How is lightning suppose to increase cutting potential is anyone's guess

@HistoryCultureFiction oh true. I suppose if the staff is usually the alternative then people would start suspecting them over time.

6:30 In Shad's defense, when you're using it as a stick, you still don't care where the edge is. Just don't unsheath the thing.
Shad: "My wold is FALING APPART😣"
Tyranth: "...Anyways-"
First of all, don't review anything if you did not do any reason or haven't watched the anime where it's from🤦🏽
The sword doesn't need a guard because sasuke's powers shield's him & his ninjah skills let him doge, tank hits & survive overwhelming attacks.
I remember there's a pair of blades that sheath into one another to form one single stick as well from the Kill Bill series.
You're probably thinking of O-ren's sword. It was just one blade, though.
joerg sprave is working on a functional pair like that.
Fun video you guys actually inspired my own story and have made me want to include historically acurate sword combat in my own story.
As for why Sasuke uses the blade it's because it works well for his lightning style jutsu however it is surprisingly unpractical as a sword.
"... it's a stick!"
That's all the justification I need. I'm just worried about getting this through customs.

@@SilentMech1 oh yeah to put a big caliber in a small package
The guns you are thinking of are called Derringers. They were invented sometime in the 19 century and were single or two shot break action pistols that were small enough to fit inside pockets. They are still made today and some people do actually carry them for self defense here in America due to how small and easily concealable they are. Granted having two shots of .38 or 9mm isn’t ideal in the slightest when it comes to self defense it is still better than having nothing at all.

Also "gambler's guns" for carrying concealed into establishments that had you check your gun belt at the door.
The funniest thing for me is that the first time I saw that sword I was a teenager and yet my first thought was not "wow, that's cool" but "that thing is terrible" especially when you see the way he pulled it out. of its sheath
Shad has some energy today XD
Haha. Props for the funny intro 😂😂

“Easy to transport sword”
He’s invented the knife 😅
He likes them sticks. He would love the club in DS1. Or the starting weapon in fable. Or starting weapon in kh
5:05 When the evil editor kmows you're talking to Camera B but he still uses the footage from Camera A so you look dumb xD
💀💀
“It’s a stick!”
I'm used to Shad's more in depth and detailed videos so this just being hilarious and soul crushing was a wonderful surprise.
"My World is Falling apart!" That is your most clipable moment yet.

Hey! There are people in the background! Has that ever happened before?
Shadlands being invaded.
Shad makes some good points
That sword is a predecessor to the Katana is called -Chokuto-
It's divereces to the Kantana are:
Straight edge
No guard/tsuba
it was in a lot of cases (not all) shorter
And the handel developt over time from a short handel that gives only space to get the support hand only situation wise on the handel. And over the decades the handel getting longer to a 'regular' Katana sized handel for 2hands.
The benefit of Sasuke's sword is in its aesthetics, it's drip.
The moment you did the anime lied to us i lost it. Lol. Love watching you guys.
This was in my recommended
You’re literally missing the point, first off it wasn’t really used as a sword in the show and secondly you gotta use logic that makes sense in Naruto universe. They can apply chakra to their feet and literally walk on water and walls, a sword does not need a guard in their universe. It’s a fictional universe with their own sets of rules, comparing that with real world doesn’t make any sense.
Shad will break a stick and say
See magic wands suck as weapons
Naruto became popular because it made real attempt to implement real logic to the series and therefore can very well be examined in actual world logic. Much more than most other anime anyway. Its true that Naruto shipuuden which followed the original Naruto, and when the sword was given to Sasuke, was less coherent and eventually became full anime logic.
It’s designed to be used as a tool for casting lightning magic; the fact it is a sword doesn’t actually matter. He never uses it for normal sword functions. Its shape and lack of a tsuba are to facilitate its usefulness for forming lightning magic.
I know that you said that you were going to do a destruction test on the Sasuke sword but now I want to see Tyranth make it better while trying to maintain as much of the concept as possible! Do it!
A) put a marking on the Case or the Handle
B) wrap the Handle with braid instead of being just wood
C) Mark the Handle to MATCH the case
