The responsiveness is covered in detail in the review. I do think with a 120Hz limit in mind (and 60Hz even more so) it's a bit better suited than at the full 165Hz, even if it's definitely not perfect. But you won't find a significantly better budget VA option in that respect. It's probably worth trying out, it could suit you well.

According to data on RTINGS reviews, pursuit photos elsewhere and what I have seen from the LG, it's the LG that has better pixel overdrive tuning so has better pixel responsiveness for 120Hz+. If you value pixel responsiveness you should really consider an IPS alternative, however.
They aren't "similar" if you look at the medium and light backgrounds. The trailing is significantly bolder there on the Samsung. They both have significant weaknesses where darker shades are involved. Again, if you're sensitive to that sort of thing then consider IPS alternatives. My own recommendation is clear - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/.
@sn.k7811 Samsung is known to revise things with firmware revisions, they may have tightened things up. But equally you may be focusing too much on the top row of the test where performance is similar or not looking carefully enough at the remaining transitions. On various TH-cam reviews with decent pursuit photograph captures there is significantly bolder trailing on the Samsung (AG3x) than the LG using optimal pixel overdrive settings. Perhaps the reviewers didn't let the Samsung warm up properly before taking the photos - perhaps if you could provide pursuit photos yourself it would be helpful. Really, though, you're talking about a weak performance either way. If you particularly care about pixel responsiveness I wouldn't recommend either model.
Im having pixelation with this monitor. Does this happen because im using a bad hdmi cable? Can it be fixxed by using Displayport? Pls response, have you see any pixelation issue on this monitor?
IPS might be better in colors etc but the contrast is extremely low which if you dont have FALD its not worth it either. Better colors, Low contrast = Horrible dry picture
Thanks for the vid! Would you recommend this for playing competitive LoL? Do you have input delay numbers so I can compare with e.g. AOC 24g2zu, Philips Evnia 25M2N3200W (both 240Hz, is that diff helping for LoL)?
No, I don't recommend this monitor for competitive gaming based on criticism of pixel responsiveness in the review. You should just get a good IPS model instead, such as one we recommend - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/.
How does coating compares to lg 24gn600 I had that monitor before and I dint like the mate coating it was like grainy and looked bad (idk if it was mate coating or low contrast ratio making to worse but)only mate coating I liked was one asus monitor
That isn't something VRR technologies such as G-SYNC will help with, it's due to the slow pixel responses. You can try lowering the response time setting as you may be observing strong overshoot, especially at lower refresh rates (this behaviour is covered in the review as well).
Use a search engine or watch a TH-cam video related to "how to set up your PC to use the internet". Hint: nothing to do with the monitor in this case, that just displays visual information.
I have a Viewsonic 2468a, I liked the slim bezel. The only thing is, I like watching sport and videos on TH-cam, not so much gaming. The refresh rate is 60hz on the Viewsonic, do you think the Ultragear would be a much better monitor for a smoother video?
Such content is typically 23 - 30fps, occasionally 60fps. Having a higher refresh rate is not needed. Though some like 120Hz so 24fps, 30fps and 60fps evenly divides into it (can reduce judder).
@@PCMonitors Thx for response. And What can you say about Dell G2724D it has IPS Panel. Now I am using Dell S2722DGM is it goodd idea to change it with G2724D ?

I just bought this monitor for 140eur new. I was wondering, are there any "best settings" you would recommend to someone trying to set this monitor up? Thanks in advance!
The reason you can't find an answer is because it isn't clear at all when using the monitor. Therefore it isn't something people report or should stress over.
They vary between individual units, but refer to the 'Test Settings' in the written review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/lg-ultragear-24gq50f-b/#Calibration.
Depends how you judge it based on the review. If it sounds good to you then give it a try. But there are options I recommend above this - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-budget-all-round-monitors/.
Anything that reduces the contrast or limits saturation will do that, but then you're eating away at the main advantage of the monitor which is its contrast. You can reduce contrast, reduce colour channels, 'Six Color' saturation or adjust black stabiliser for example. These are things you have to play around with yourself, as a reviewer I don't set the monitor up in a way that limits its shade range and affects image performance simply to avoid some of the weakest pixel transitions being performed.
@@PCMonitors Thank you so much for your help! Yeah I agree with you, don't really want to tune down the contrast as I like "contrasty"...guess it will take some time for me to play aorund the settings and get used to it. I like this monitor regardless because of the price and performance ratio. Once again, thank you for the effort for writing up such detailed review
Hı bro i m from Turkey i want to buy this monitör. İ haber question. Monitör is good for valorant cs go i play agresif 2 games. And Any ghosting 165 hz response good?. İ have low English soory ❤
If you watch the responsiveness section of the video it's clear visually (regardless of language) this is a poor choice for competitive gaming. Subtitles work in other languages on TH-cam as well, I know that's not perfect. You might find it easlier to use Google Chrome to translate the written review into any language (even the conclusion makes it clear there are issues here - pcmonitors.info/reviews/lg-ultragear-24gq50f-b/#Conclusion ).
This one's about as good as you'll find for the budget to be honest. Or the AOC C24G1(A) if you prefer a curve and it's available for you. But be aware it has some text clarity issues this LG does not due to partial subpixel illumination on the AOC (pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration ).
If you're happy with the price and that's an option in your region then yes, it's a good shout - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/aoc-25g3zm-mini-review-impressions-motion-performance/.
Unfortunately it isn't available in the US where the vast majority of our supporting audience is based, so no plans at the moment. I hope they release it there at some point as well.
Id love for u to recommend me a 1440p 144hz monitor Sir after all ur help with my temp. 1080p 165hz. I loved my LG Ultragear Gaming- HDR , 27 Inch (68 Cm) 2K-Qhd 640 X 480 Pixels Resolution IPS with HDR 10-144Hz, 1Ms, G-Sync Compatible, Freesync Premium, Hdmi X 2, Display Port, HP Out (Black) and was planning to buy again cos 27" is enough for me. Im sure u know better 2k monitors better than this, i even saw 1 other Ultra Gear bit costlier than this. Btw sir , is LCD or LED display is better?? I cant buy super costly ones but i think Odyssey Samsung series seems good but i dont need to high a hertz so max 165hz is enough for me for 2k , Id prefer if there is 1440p 144hz Odyssey on 27" but i havnt quite seen it on the series. Thanks again sir !!!
My current recommendations and other options are covered in the thread - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/making-sense-of-the-current-27-1440p-144hz-ips-segment/ and here - pcmonitors.info/recommendations/gaming-monitors/ . All LCD monitors now are "LED", it just refers to the backlight they use.
@@PCMonitors yeah i saw that, all the video And you mentioned it looks much better with 120hz Was just asking with naked eyes, do you think its good enough
@Ahmed Alnajjar Would recommend checking the pursuit photos in the written review for some specific examples of 120Hz pixel response performance - pcmonitors.info/reviews/lg-ultragear-24gq50f-b/#Responsiveness. Again, whether this would be bothersome is subjective. I noticed issues, which is why I was able to comment on them (by eye) in the video and some transitions were a bit worse than those shown in the pursuit photos (e.g. 35:32). But not everyone is so sensitive to such things.
Gr8 video. Sir can u telll me why my in-game fps from G-force experience fps tab only shows around 60-62fps only with my Rtx 3060ti on this monitor i jst got . Any help will be appreciated, also do i turn on the Freesync Premium for nvidia cards ?? My PC specs are 1440p Max settings gaming capable.
The '4K' resolution is demanding and your GPU isn't all that powerful, so try turning down some settings. Per the written review and OSD video, 'FreeSync Premium' is the VRR toggle, required for 'G-SYNC Compatible'.

For some reason my TH-cam app was showing the Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 when I was replying.. Odd... Not sure why your frame rate is so low then, but the monitor itself can't be the issue if set correctly to 165Hz. From the written review: "You need to make sure ‘FreeSync Premium’ is set to ‘On’ in the ‘Game Adjust’ section of the OSD to use the technology, as this is the Adaptive-Sync toggle of the display. "

Please pay attention to the review where responsiveness is covered in detail and pay no attention to ridiculous and misleading specified response times.
I bought that monitor, but when I change the Hz in te pc, the maximum I get is 120Hz why ? If the monitor it’s 165Hz. You think is the HDMI, maybe use try to use a 2.0 HDMI? Or DP
I use this as a second monitor. I also have done some gaming on it. It really is an amazing 24 inch. My main is LG ultra gear 45 oled, and I still find this monitor enjoyable. Trust me when I say you’ll be passing up a very good opportunity and a fantastic price.
Hello, sir. I'm on the verge of making a purchase, but I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate your assistance with. What I'm aiming to do is play games from my laptop while connected to an HDMI cable. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive because I'm uncertain whether I'll encounter issues like ghosting or lag (I believe it's similar to moving the mouse and experiencing delayed responses). Additionally, I'm looking to enhance the color quality to make the games appear brighter. The second matter pertains to connecting my Xbox One Series S. I'm not very tech-savvy, but the monitor specifies HDMI 1.4 compatibility while I think the Xbox uses HDMI 2.0. I'm unsure if this will cause any complications, so I was hoping you could provide some insight. Thank you in advance, and I apologize for any shortcomings in my English.
The monitor should work fine via HDMI, but whether you'll experience "lag" will be down to your frame rate. Per the review the input lag is not a problem on the monitor itself. HDMI 1.4 is fine for the Xbox Series S, HDMI is fully backwards compatible. Quite a few Full HD monitors are only HDMI 1.4 as they don't require HDMI 2.0 bandwidth. This monitor is limited to 144Hz instead of 165Hz via HDMI 1.4. The Xbox Series S itself is limited to 120Hz max but typically 60Hz (so the system limits the refresh rate, not the monitor).
Do you think I would be happy with this monitor considering I am almost satisfied with my current TN monitor (BenQ G2420HD) that I bought in 2010? None of the weaknesses of this monitor can be worse than those of my current monitor, or can they? I would like this monitor to be at least a bit better in its weaknesses and much better in its strengths compared to my current monitor, I would prefer not to buy an IPS monitor because I like the contrast and I am afraid of IPS Glow. 🙁
The pixel responsiveness is inferior on the LG, but it is better in pretty much every other area. Because this is so subjective, you'd really have to see for yourself. You might really enjoy the upgrade, so probably worth a try.
@@PCMonitors Thank you for the reply! I'm disappointed to see how slowly monitor technology is advancing, the PC I had in 2010 had a Core 2 Duo, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a GeForce 9800 GTX, and now I could randomly pick any of the cheapest modern parts I could find and they would be much better in every way than the parts my PC had back then, but when it comes to monitors, I have to choose carefully so that I don't buy a modern one that is the same or even worse than a cheap 13-year-old monitor? how sad... my even older Sony Trinitron CRT monitor had perfect blacks, high contrast, high refresh rate, no ghosting, no light bleeding, it was just too big for my current desktop. 😞 Unfortunately, I have never seen a VA monitor myself, all the ones I see for sale are IPS or TN, that's why I was asking here but again, thank you for the reply. ☺
There have been many advancements in monitor technology, but mainly at the higher end. Advancements will always happen and there are always going to be some compromises to pick. If not, my job as a reviewer would be very boring.
@@PCMonitors Yes, I know there have been many improvements, but as I said in my example, a Core 2 Duo has no advantage over a modern processor, either is far superior, while a 15-20 year old monitor is still superior in some aspects over a modern monitor, that's what disappoints me. But you are right, I will have to see for myself the monitors to decide, for now the only ones that catch my interest are the Gigabyte G24F-2, the BenQ MOBIUZ EX240N, and this LG 24GQ50F-B but I can't find good reviews of the first two. 😖

Yes, people need to pick their compromises.
@@PCMonitors Thanks. I checked the review - does AOC 24G2SPAE/BK belong to the AOC 24G2SP you recommend there or is it some worse model?
Same model, different (tilt-only) stand.
How does coating compares to lg 24gn600 I had that monitor before and I dint like the mate coating it was like grainy and looked bad (idk if it was mate coating or low contrast ratio making to worse but)only mate coating I liked was one asus monitor
Do you know if the 27gq50f-b is the same as this 24 inch meaning same response time result ?
You can expect it to be similar.
Can i use it for G sync i mean is it G sync compatible as i did not see it in Nvidia list so is it G sync compatible or not
Yes - and this is covered in the review.
@@PCMonitors i had watched your video but i do not know why i am suffering from infra ghosting or a colourful ghosting
That isn't something VRR technologies such as G-SYNC will help with, it's due to the slow pixel responses. You can try lowering the response time setting as you may be observing strong overshoot, especially at lower refresh rates (this behaviour is covered in the review as well).
Hello sir, which one did u suggest between this or Samsung Oddesey g3 or any other with same price budget?
This model is good if you want a VA monitor. Otherwise consider the AOC we recommend - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-gaming-monitors/.
I just switched to using monitors and pc but I don’t know how to go on the internet with it. How do I do that?
What should I do?
When I turn on the PC at the beginning, should I also turn on the button on the bottom of the monitor? or not.
Up to you, can do that before or after.
@PC Monitors BenqEX240N is better ?
Only if you like really slow VA panels.
@@PCMonitors Thx for response. And What can you say about Dell G2724D it has IPS Panel. Now I am using Dell S2722DGM is it goodd idea to change it with G2724D ?

The main quation. Is that honest 8bit panel, or 6bit+frc? I can’t find correct info in internet
The reason you can't find an answer is because it isn't clear at all when using the monitor. Therefore it isn't something people report or should stress over.
Is it a true 8 bit panel or 6 bit + frc?
true
Same question . I can’t find a right info on internet too.. everywhere it’s different
can you tell me best (color accurate) settings for this monitor?
They vary between individual units, but refer to the 'Test Settings' in the written review - pcmonitors.info/reviews/lg-ultragear-24gq50f-b/#Calibration.
Is it good for a first monitor
Depends how you judge it based on the review. If it sounds good to you then give it a try. But there are options I recommend above this - pcmonitors.info/articles/best-budget-all-round-monitors/.
Thank you for the in depth review! Could you share your opinion on how to tweak the settings to reduce smearing/ghosting please?
Which 1080p va monitor would you recommend?
This one's about as good as you'll find for the budget to be honest. Or the AOC C24G1(A) if you prefer a curve and it's available for you. But be aware it has some text clarity issues this LG does not due to partial subpixel illumination on the AOC (pcmonitors.info/reviews/aoc-c24g1/#Calibration ).
@@PCMonitors i have also seen the aoc 25g3zm and that monitor seems to be even better when it comes to responsiveness, thoughts?
If you're happy with the price and that's an option in your region then yes, it's a good shout - forum.pcmonitors.info/topic/aoc-25g3zm-mini-review-impressions-motion-performance/.
@@PCMonitors thank you so much for the quick answers! are you planning to do a review for that monitor any time soon?

All LCD monitors now are "LED", it just refers to the backlight they use.
do you think its good enough to use with 120hz on console without noticeable smearing ?
120Hz performance is covered in the review. And there are weaknesses which you may or may not find bothersome; it's subjective.
@@PCMonitors yeah i saw that, all the video
And you mentioned it looks much better with 120hz
Was just asking with naked eyes, do you think its good enough
@Ahmed Alnajjar Would recommend checking the pursuit photos in the written review for some specific examples of 120Hz pixel response performance - pcmonitors.info/reviews/lg-ultragear-24gq50f-b/#Responsiveness. Again, whether this would be bothersome is subjective. I noticed issues, which is why I was able to comment on them (by eye) in the video and some transitions were a bit worse than those shown in the pursuit photos (e.g. 35:32). But not everyone is so sensitive to such things.

I bought that monitor, but when I change the Hz in te pc, the maximum I get is 120Hz why ? If the monitor it’s 165Hz. You think is the HDMI, maybe use try to use a 2.0 HDMI? Or DP
HDMI is limited to 144Hz on this model, but depending on GPU/system could be limited to 120Hz. You need DP for 165Hz.
@Németh László From the written review: "Standard accessories include a power cable and adaptor plus DP cable, but may vary regionally."

Unfortunately, I have never seen a VA monitor myself, all the ones I see for sale are IPS or TN, that's why I was asking here but again, thank you for the reply.
