I was really hoping that the USB port would've allowed external audio interfaces that have higher A/D resolution like an RME Babyface Pro. That was quite a let down that Ableton once again made a feature lukewarm. I ordered the controller version to upgrade my Push 2 because I'm not on board with the standalone version yet.
I disagree on the ADAT in a live environment! USB in a live environment is subject to all kinds of risks vibrations can disconnect USB so easily. ADAT is pretty much locked in! As long as you look after the light pipe well and ensure the cable is well free and not stressed they are solid as. Talking from experience here :)
ADAT is simply not a durable connection standard for space constrained and poorly lit live environments. If you are gigging and you are regularly plugging/unplugging you will eventually run into issues with the durability of those ADAT cable ports- take it from someone who has encountered this with ‘pro’ level audio interfaces before. Another issue is the need for 2 relatively weak fiber optic cables. ADAT in live environments is a bad choice on several levels- and it also greatly constrains your choice of audio interface. Not a good decision by Ableton here- which is accentuated further by the comparatively poor latency in the internal Push3 audio interface. ADAT becomes your only real option for live performance- and sooner or later those ADAT connectors will let you down.
The issue with Bitwig here is also that it doesn’t show the names of the audio ports but only the number. I had the issue with the MC-707. In Reaper all of the ins and outs have names but in Bitwig there is only a number so I had to do some counting. I don’t know why Bitwig can’t display the names like Reaper.
It is still a very powerful machine and I see no reason why I should not be able to support it. One thing to mention is that both version 1 and 2 tend to becom sticky which requires some intensive cleaning.
Bitwig is talking with almost all Midi controllers . Push 1 is good tool and will work with current software but it won't last long without proper maintenance , hiding from sun , from temperature above 35c , from using force instead using it with slow moves and less pressure ect..Push 1 will be useful but it's about quality build as new so called " Stand Alone" versions of devices similar to Maschine+ Push 3 is builded to last compared with previous Push 2 & 1 encoders were getting loose quickly and my advice if you buy Push 1 or 2 just be gentle, TLC when using it because all Music Midi controllers were builded in cheap Labor Fabrics. M+ , Nektar and Push 3 and new Versions of different Manufacturers are made to sustain live acts with higher QA control and more resistant materials and more expensive. Any Generic Midi will communicate with Bitwig, Ableton ect. Sound quality output is enough for Big Sound Systems as they are limited in Frequency response and sound traps for sustain the bad frequencies.
Can i ask an obvious question, bitwig is clearly here to stay ... is it now time to start hearing rumbled of a hardware bitwig machine which has been crowdfunded by the community - with votes on what features etc ... seems a nice dream, but what are the practical functional reality - will bitwig suprise us with a beautify hardware machine - a controller which leans into ll the amazing features of bitwig - what is the thoughts of the team here?

Thats weird because they say the pedal jacks are dc coupled? So they lied? Also i think i am now not going to purchase it considering we cant use an external audio interface for higher resolution? No wonder it’s on sale now for $300 cheaper.
@@Gallanitte yep was hoping for not having to go the adat route if possible and can you even completely bypass the push 3 converters going adat? A lot of audio interfaces dont do this. I bought my audient id44 specifically to be able to do this.
They are DC coupled. The poster misunderstood the following line in the technical description: "In addition, Push 3 can output Control Voltage (CV) signals via the pedal jacks. However, the audio interface itself is not DC-coupled." The correct understanding is that pedal jacks are DC coupled but the line in and -outs are not.

I just got my push 3, can I use my Bluetooth headphones with the push 3 ? I can’t seem to get them to work when connected to my computer ?

Absolutely no idea 🙂 But I think this is currently not in the focus of Bitwig but who knows...

You can use another audio interface for higher resolutions but via ADAT, not usb.

@@yardleylfc Well, I have been able to connect my Presonus Studio 1810c via ADAT and use resolutions as high as 96.0kHz.
