I've said this elsewhere, I am really impressed that Ableton chose a sustainable path for Push 3 in a consumerist world where we are expected to throw away perfectly good technology all in the name of repeating revenue. What a win for everyone.

So this is basically the best of Roli Blocks, Ableton & an MPC. NICE! Very interested in seeing what native instruments is going to do this year with their hardware as well.
It's cool, I have a Push 2 and I don't really feel like it's obsolete here at all. But there are a few features that I would definitely enjoy having, and the interface functionality is a major wishlist item, if I were still schlepping Push to live gigs that would save me a TON of time.
yeah, the new prices mean the old Push won't be obsolete anytime soon. , £400 Push 2, £879 Push 3 controller, £1669 Push 3 standalone, Plus there are some niffty single board Ryzen computers on the market which could very easily be moded to turn a push 2 into a standalone ;0)

Proper breakdown! As always the production quality here is next level. I think it has to be said that the upgrade kit feature is a game changer. This is huge.. and will possibly make this device future proof for a long time to come. Im sure that they will add some sort of arrangement view eventually and more bells and whistles over the next year. This is a very strong entry into the standalone market.
As always Andrew, another superb upload. This though.. this is an absolute game changer, being able to replace processor, battery and hard drive as technology improves... there's nothing else like it, and give it a truly bright future !!!

i never have or wil understand why anyone wants a standalone push, it doesnt make any sense, jsut the same as machine, when companies listen to 0,000001% of users this shit comes out eating all the precious recources for something thats not needed and only a downgrade.
My Push 2 died like 2 years ago, and I've been in sorrow ever since. Finally managed to put together money for a new one around christmas, but used the money on presents for my family instead. I also had a feeling that since Push 2 was out of stock everywhere in Norway (and other places), something new were on the horizon. I AM SOOOOOOOO HYPED!! LET'S GOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

It's only about 25% more than what I paid for Push 2 like 6 years ago, so I'm okay with that. Nothing beats the Push (by far) for my workflow 🙂
@@aminoplaysgames that is a good point to be honest I have the push to right now but I only ever seemed to use it as a drum pad and the new one has really good drum pads however the specs of the new one just looks terrible but you're right it is good that you can upgrade it later

Wow! Amazing review Andrew. I'm a Logic User but I will be getting A Push 3. The fact that you can upgrade the unit hardware and specs is a game changer for standalone beat machines. Ableton really cares about its users.... I may have to try Ableton again.

Yes, you can. Even arrangement transfers - even though you can't edit it with Push 3 standalone. Dunno what happens with third-party though. They won't work that's for sure.
the Live II is clearing its throat in the corner. between the Live, M+, the new SPD, and now this things are looking great for portable/powerful machines

Push 3 looks like a great upgrade compared to Push 2. It looks like the standalone version isn't fully standalone yet, but hopefully they'll add the arranger and other missing features soon. I've been using a Force instead since it's truly standalone and has great Linux compatibility, but Push 3 has some amazing features I'd love to use.

You guys were like almost ready with the camera to shoot this video lol :D .. btw i loved the explanation and Ableton surely came up with the powerful machine this time.. talkin of machine , Maschine+ got some epic competition too :D

Damn, this is just insane. I was planning on getting a Launchpad Pro to use as a standalone sequencer for my modular stuff, and owning a Push II I love the interface, but not the setup - this is incredible. I can’t afford one at the moment, but I’ll keep an eye out.
Being able to use Note and Session mode at the same time - above all other features - is for me the biggest and best. It’s the reason I am upgrading to the tethered version.
Thanks for the amazing video! The unit looks utterly stunning, there’s no doubt about that… and I will probably upgrade to it from 2 (but I won’t bother with the SA version) my only point of confusion is why everyone is so concerned about being standalone. I don’t get what’s so bad about working with computers ! 😄 why are they fixating on stepping away from it? It’s a bloody great resource! I also don’t get why are ableton selling themselves short when it comes to their music production presentation. They need to get it in them that people are proud of using it as a DAW and are getting great results from it. I’m wishing for more serious DAW features and an Ableton Push “Studio” next where the unit serves the production side not the performance side 🙏🏼

My issue is that they ONLY focus on that problem and remedy it while there are other things that need to be battled too do you know what I mean ? So what I’m saying is, you solved the former issue with Push 3 so it’s time to sort the latter issues for studio based folk with “Push Studio” .
GR8 overview Andrew... you should be able-to have an audio record buffer to go with the midi listening ,that you could set the recording time to say up to 40 mins like BESKPOKE DAW or 404 mk2......would have liked to have seen more Eurorack stuff setup being controlled by the Push 3. .....ps shaker game 100

Kind of video I REALLY like. I good overview without and lot of DEEP DIVES. That comes later as you get more experience with the device. This was an excellent introduction for someone brand new to the PUSH eco-system. Wish more YTers would do these, initially, instead of showing 3 different ways to do the same thing and adding midi gear etc. One step at a time! Much obliged.

How do you reckon you're going to tackle playing a set? I'm thinking about this route, but it seems like you'd have to arrange a bunch of songs in one project and launch them as clips or something, it sounds tricky
The barrier to entry at a "convenience" level is pretty high these days. I find every youtuber just increases my standards for my setup, which is their job I guess, but man it feels bad to look at my Launchpad and know that There is something better out there that costs 10x the cost I spent, and gives me 100x the convenience of my current setup. and is 1000x out of my budget.

I hope this comment doesn’t come off topic too much, but as an FL Studio user (I have Ableton as well) at least at this stage… my question is, would we be able to export tracks/stems to FL? Again, I’m not trying to start a DAW war or throwing shade at all… the device looks amazing and I’m really new so it’s an honest question. Love the content!
Returned the standalone version last year but got the controller model for $749 (Black Friday sale) and must say I love it. Really way superior to the previous versions which I still have and the MPE is no gimmick. Excellent feel and build quality too. Standalone was $1499 on sale but still would not buy it

I am here for the refurbished Push 2's. Had to sell mine years back, but always missed having it. I liked iit for 'headless' use of ableton.

The MPE definitely seems like an awesome upgrade, but it does make me wonder how the new pads feel since they had to design around MPE functionality.

3rd party plugins are ignored basically yes
You guys probably know this, but just for info. As a workaround you probably will atleast be able to freeze the 3rd party tracks before you transfer.

The barrier to entry at a "convenience" level is pretty high these days. I find every youtuber just increases my standards for my setup, which is their job I guess, but man it feels bad to look at my Launchpad and know that There is something better out there that costs 10x the cost I spent, and gives me 100x the convenience of my current setup. and is 1000x out of my budget.

Also, the hardware on this thing is older generation which to me seems a bit cynical.

I hope this comment doesn’t come off topic too much, but as an FL Studio user (I have Ableton as well) at least at this stage… my question is, would we be able to export tracks/stems to FL? Again, I’m not trying to start a DAW war or throwing shade at all… the device looks amazing and I’m really new so it’s an honest question. Love the content!
Returned the standalone version last year but got the controller model for $749 (Black Friday sale) and must say I love it. Really way superior to the previous versions which I still have and the MPE is no gimmick. Excellent feel and build quality too. Standalone was $1499 on sale but still would not buy it
