nates work was Steller ! He helped get alot of Chads cars to the next level. He will be missed for sure. I think the viewers really related to him. Best of luck Nate on your new ventures. !!
I followed Chad's methods on my pickup bed and painted my pickup bed in the door yard with a $32 gun and friends and neighbors could not believe it turned out so good and that it was the first time I ever painted a vehicle. Thanks Bad Chad
Chad, I think many people are appreciative that you spoke about Nathan. that was honorable to so many just to keep this real with an explanation thank you
I love this car I think it’s so beautiful the colors the red wheels the white walls all together it’s just stunning looking in todays world almost like from a movie
It's snowed here in Switzerland (damn), this time it came earlier than in Nova Scotia. You're doing a good job with the door. 😎👍 The back trunk doesn't look too good, maybe you could fix it like the door..
Always enjoy Chad's explanations of how and why he does what he does, and he does it well. The explanation of diminishing returns is classic and relatable.
If a person agrees to work for a set price that is up to them, they were part time help as needed. and both those guys are transients and pick up odd jobs wherever they can. Hiltz Auto Co. is a stepping stone. just as Chad said
It's beautiful, just clean it up, take care of anything that is rotting, anything broken fixed , and leave it, drive it and enjoy it, when you are done with it or if someone offers you a lot of profit, take it and get something else. All the knockers, make your own cars .
Glad for the update on Nate hope he does well at his new endeavor I know he will ❤!! Hopefully he will stop in some time and give you and us an update 😊
Whatever happened to Team Chad l honestly don't know but I genuinely thought that the 4 of you were absolutely brilliant together and were fantastic to watch and listen to to with the never-ending humourous banter and the envious skills and abilities to turn discarded metal into sheer works of art
It all depends on what the job is. This is not a restoration. It's not meant to be a restoration. It's preservation. Keeping the car as is, not a strip down and completely restore, which costs tens, possibly hundreds of thousands. The job with the door is to make it match the rest of the car. Simply to repair the paint that has fallen off from whatever damage/repair the door sustained, and at the same time stabilise what's left of the original paint. Not sure whether some people watch these videos with the sound down, but Chad and Jolene have explained this multiple times. I worked in the aircraft industry as a sheet metal worker, and worked on commercial, civil and military aircraft. Just because a panel or skin on an aircraft was damaged didn't mean whole sections of the plane or the fuselage were stripped down. We repaired them, patched them, and at the end of the job if the section being repaired was painted, as it was most of the time, the repair was invisible to the naked eye, and with skins, internal panels etc they are not welded, they are bonded, with each patch requiring a 0.030 expansion gap to a 0.005" tolerance. Being a "body man" does not always require a full strip, repair and respray.
Actually, that could be easier in ways: no need to "fill" up to old paint level, no visible edges at repair, trying to sand edges, easier paint matching, no edge blending. Just refinish the panel - no "tear down". But, hey, whatever. This will look better, without doing damage.
@@stuartdaughtry3586 Hey Stuart, it's good to hear from an expert in a slightly different field. I'm a composites guy ( cars / boats / planes.), and was blown away by the amazing repair job some of my old mates did on the Team New Zealand boat during the recent America's Cup regatta in Barcelona, taking it to the top step of the podium !! ( Dalton, Bernesconi, Burling, Outridge, Tuke, REAGAN, ) what a group, and what a team culture !! And Grant Dalton is a car racer, too !!
Chad, I have watched your channel from the S.F. Bay area for a while. I grew up in San Francisco in 1953. Old Cars is my love. I'm in Street Rod Magazine 1973 as I used to go all over california taking pictures of Vintage Tin. That 34 is rare, and you will not have problem selling I believe. In 1975 I was riding my 10 speed in S.F. on this block with old houses. ZOn the street were two 40 ford coupes, in the driveway a 39 ford Standard, and looking through a broken window in the Garage was a 36 Ford Roadster Convertible with same color as yours and top. The guy let me in to see it. all original with the Flathead eight. I found a 58 corvette in a garage and a man gave it to me for free back in 1978. I say best to leave it original. I had over 100 cars, willy's, 39 ford coupe and took 3rd place at cow Palace in 1982. I have now an original 1937 chevy Pickup texaco Gas station truck complete running. I had two others also. Also have a beautiful 53 ford f-100 street Rod. I saw your 34 and wanted to comment on it. Great find. Worth more original. Back in the 1960's old cars were everywhere . One guy I knew had a 37 ford 2dr Sedan and also in the garage two 32 three window steel Bodies, and a original 66 AC Cobra. One friend had a 34 ford 5w coupe in his garage with a 327 in it. it was primed Black and he was asking 600 dollars for it. Corvettes were 1,500 back then, and in 1968 in the front window of a speed shop was a Candy Apple Read all steel 41 willy's Gasser with a 426 Hemi in it. They had a sale sign for 10k on it. my whole life wre old cars.jim
I wasnt sure what these were going for today so I looked it up. Not far from me, Cadillac, Michigan, there is one forsale(or was recently) that is very similar to yours. They're asking $76,995 USD
I'm diggin' this. Maybe go 12 volt and otherwise stock. There are heaps of hot rods, whereas you never see these on the road. Thanks for sharing what you do!
Nate is probably keeping up with Chad and Jolene on TH-cam. Watching this is so informative. Being I have a couple of classics, this technique comes in really handy 👍👍
yep, Ive done the custom paint, but on this car you are absolutely right, you would have to stip every panel off, strip all the paint, replace all the fasteners , cost would be enormous, best to patch the bad stuff and leave it.

After looking at Jolene’s close ups of the rest of the paint on this car, I think Chad is doing the right thing by not aiming for anything better than a fun car to drive around in.
it would cost alot, more than its retail value to nut and bolt restore and rebuild everything. chad is right about 100k. I would strip and repaint the bad panels at least. fix everything mechanically and have fun with it as it is. its a unbelievably unmolested original, i just dont like the ugly brown seats, lol

I'd a used gray primer, red is a bit to dark for your tan color
As a painter I understand the pros of the red oxide, but follow up with a white primer with some raw Sienna or brown tint in it. You'll be glad later.
Please wear a mask when sanding not good to breathe the dust

Sorry to hear that Nate is also not coming back.Chad really needs a great mechanic now
If he would treat his employees better and not talk down to them like he’s better than they are maybe he could keep his employees
Without Nate, Chad's hot wheels car will never get done.
That's really too bad that Nate has left , he was such an asset to Team Hiltz
@tander1852 you get all that from seeing them all in an 'occasional' video. Guess you know what Nate was getting paid also 🤦♂️

Sending prayers to Jolene and hope your Mom has a speedy recovery ❤
That black is really going ta mess with you with light tan color, hmmmmmmmm??????
