Wasn’t expecting to see a Saul Goodman reference today. Anyways, I enjoyed how you connected Phoenix’s actions from Case 4-1 to Lana’s self-loathing and guilt from her time being coerced by Gant. However, Phoenix was right. The reasons why Kristoph chose the path are irrelevant. He chose the path that led him to corruption and murder without a shred of remorse for his actions for incredibly petty reasons. This series has sort of given me a knew perspective on a game I have very mixed feelings towards.

May need another TWO parts for this series. One to explain the grand plan of using the Jurist System to finally expose Kristoph Gavin and the other for the debriefing of the whole affair, with each of the detectives involved taking turns discussing the matter.

Phoenix is the chess master in this sick game, using Lana and her friends as pawns, so he can get revenge on this one dude who forged evidence that made Phoenix lose his badge, which resulted from Lana forging evidence in a trial thanks to Gant's influence.
Like good grief, Lana Skye's Parole has so many connections, almost as if like how Von Karma caused everything in the main Canon trilogy because he got one fucking penalty.
kristoph and lana were too busy on their chess match to notice that it was actually a 3 player 5d chess with multiverse timetravel match
*OK, this is going to be a very long entry* (well, only for the willing and persistent), my first on this channel. However, it seems to me that it's time to clarify some things, since, by the way, the situation is ripe for it (we already have quite a few videos about Phoenix's disbarment). I also make no secret of the fact that your commentary finally prompted me to do a little essay on Phoenix's actions.
Which by no means should bring him glory, but only further his guilt. If you think about it, the world of Ace Attorney is much darker than we would like to admit. For, the titular "Ace Attorney" is absent, and has been since the very beginning. What's more, the person on whom the greatest burden of denying this lie has fallen is Kristoph Gavin. After all, it was he who touted Phoenix's almost total lack of skill, relying only on an extremely ludicrous dose of luck and the selection of perfect cases. While he was one of the greatest professionals on the market, always maintaining his stoic calm. Kristoph succumbed to the "dark side of power" as he noticed what a corrupt and decadent world he had come to fight for justice in. First Lana falsifies evidence, and then Wright gets all the important cases, each of them then solving with idiotic summoning of souls, de facto often illegal searches of crime scenes and, the aforementioned, luck of the biggest moron.
Phoenix Wright is not Ace Attorney, but a regular Gladstone Gander from Donald Duck. And when you think about it, it's an absurdity the size of the world itself. Because, de facto, the world of Ace Attorney.... Is the world of Donald Duck. Kristoph Gavin is, in a way, the titular Donald Duck, who tries to do something, but constantly someone spits in his face. What's more, Wright wouldn't yet be the main reason for Gavin's growing hatred if it weren't for another "Ace," this time "Ace Magician." We all know the big list of sins of Zak Grymarye - one of the more hated characters in the series. And for good reason. He was a complete boor, seized by an obsession to compete with everyone. Magic? Well, of course, the rights to cultivate it after Magnifi, belong to him. After all, how could he be denied? Such a paragon of all virtues? Stupid poker, some ordinary cards? "Ah, I'm going to take revenge on Phoenix Wright for his undefeated record of victories and my own loss seven years ago! How evil I am! :D" Dude, can't you see how comical you are? Like that comic book character? The antagonist from the cartoon? Also funny is this moralizing of Kristoph, when characters are talking about the fact that Zak supposedly had some outstanding ability to check people by playing cards with them xD Yes, you dismissed Kristoph Gavin without knowing the whole truth about his bitterness. And who did you hire instead? An amateur who seems to have passed law school at the lowest level.
And what did he do, as someone decided to put an end to this farce of his and the foolishness uttered by the irrational Zak? He was offended like a small child and again presented falsified evidence (the first time cannot be excused, even Phoenix himself admitted his own carelessness and naivety - he took responsibility in court). Later, in turn, he created the whole absurdity with the jury system, a miserable set-up, as well as playing with some MASON systems, etc. Kristoph knew that Phoenix, in fact, was an exceptional imbecile and would fall for such a humiliating trap as handing him "proof" by.... an anonymous girl in the courthouse hall xD Moreover, later he will become as bitter as Kristoph, also planning revenge. In the end, he is no different from the final Kristoph, the one most contemptuous of everything. We were taught to sympathize with Phoenix, not seeing his and Lana's guilt. Why? Well, he is the protagonist. We don't know Kristoph's side so well. This, by the way, is typical historical practice. Because does anyone understand the perspective of Germany in WWI and WWII? Or does he just mindlessly accept Allied propaganda? Unfortunately, the brutal truth is that there are no morally good primary characters in the world of Ace Attorney. They are all self-"edge"worthy (don't forget "Ace Prosecutor", who probably forget evidence's for years, have obsession with guilty verdicts, and was changed for better by THIS Phoenix Wright xDDDD - later, became the greatest moralist in whole series, only to be almost intelectually destroyed by Simon Keyes, who also see fundamental hipocrisy in this world) and the terms "antagonist" and "protagonist" are just empty excuses for their dirty actions. Very few people recognize this, easily condemning Kristoph. And he, especially in light of Debastian Sebeste's fan films, appears as the last righteous person who only allowed himself to be swallowed up by the spiral of evil, because he was not given the opportunity to avoid this fate in the first place. There is even a hefty dose of mythological determinism and fatalism in this. You want to be a professional lawyer, but at the very first trial the world shows you who he really is, and that too in the person of the Chief Prosecutor. Later, you see all the respect and respect being garnered by a twit, able only to ask his strange assistant to summon his dead mentor to rescue him from despair. You discredit the twit in the only way possible. The twit than repays you more with what you yourself have begun to represent under the influence of all these experiences. The twit wins, and you lose. JUSTICE XDDD In summary: Phoenix is no 5D chess master or anyone like that. He is, simply, de facto, UNFORTUNATELY a cheater. A fraudster who manipulates others for mercy (oh, sweet irony, like Dahlia Hawthorne), taking advantage of the fact that once upon a time, somewhere, at some time, he luckily defended them in court. Many characters invoke Mia's authority. Players, perhaps also, like her character very much. To be blunt, however, the paradox is that in order to actually be able to invoke her with a clear conscience, it is best, simply, not to participate in this great farce called "Ace Attorney." And if one does, to recognize with partial heartache, but also honesty, that "Kristoph Gavin did nothing wrong." Is this sick? Yes. Is the world of "Noob Attorney" just as sick? Yes.
And that's scary.
Another great video Sebeste, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Also a few things that I wanna share. First, back when Phoenix revealed to Apollo he presented forged evidence the reason he told him was because he wanted to see what kind of lawyer he was. He wanted to see his reaction because he needed to know if he would either accept or be proud about the fact that he presented forged evidence, thus showing he was willing to do whatever it took to win, or if he would be disgusted about what he and by extension Phoenix did, thus showing he only cared about exposing the truth and not over if he won or lost, so he could know if he was worthy of working for Phoenix and continue the legacy and teachings Mia passed on to Phoenix. The other thing I wanted to share is that I bet Phoenix came up with the idea for the MASON system after he did research on his family history, A.K.A Genealogy, and learned about the Jurist System when he learned about Ryunosuke and his adventures

Hey Debastian Sebeste, I think I would be interested in seeing you do a Mia Fey defends herself for Redd White's Murder and she has to find out who really killed him.
Like I said, I wouldn't know who the real culprit is, but I imagine that the real culprit is someone who was hurt by Redd White, and they killed him to stop his blackmail, but they did it for their OWN sake, NOT Mia or Maya's sakes. If it ever seemed like Murder would be suspected the real culprit was hoping to pin it on Mia Fey so that the Real Culprit can avoid going to jail for murder.

Nice to see that DD Old-School Suit Phoenix getting some use. I was unreasonably happy to see Winston. And he had such a build up to his reveal, too. He's the true hero of this story, clearly.

This was great ngl, I really love this series, it really kind of "patches" the holes in the lore though with some slight changes (but at acceptable level). Anyways as always this series is the best I have seen and I would rank it to some others I have seen too(I don't watch Ace Attorney much but neither do I have plenty of time to watch youtube).

Given that someone has made an impressive Saul Goodman in the style of Ace Attorney, I wouldn't say it's impossible xD
Man...watching how all this played out really makes me feel for Apollo, and just how was essentially used for a much bigger game. This whole trial reeked to high heaven, EVEN TRUCY WAS IN ON THIS! But the guy didn't have a clue. And how you managed to connect this to Rise From The Ashes, and Lana feeling responsible for everything is beyond masterful. While yes, Lana does share a bit of blame in this, Phoenix is right (no pun intended). Kristoph CHOSE to go down this path, and commit these atrocities just to cover his tracks. It's one thing if he had shown remorse over the ordeal, but no. Phoenix sees this and now the gloves are off. These two men (Phoenix and Kristoph) could've been a powerful duo in the court of law, ushering it into a Golden Age. But thanks to them due to their pissing contest, this begins the genesis of the dark ages of the law. Phoenix knows the repercussions of what will happen by bringing Kristoph down amd exposing him, but he doesn't care. A man is at his most dangerous when he has nothing to lose. And Lana to her credit managed to put the pieces together and confront Phoenix about it. It's probably for the best that she did and not her sister Ema, as i could only imagine how hurt and disgusted she would be in Phoenix upon learning the truth. This whole thing was a dangerous game and with so many variables, people were going to get hurt. I ALMOST feel bad for Kristoph as he knows he's being set up but there's nothing he can do about it because the dude's already guilty. Talk about creul irony.

I really liked how you explored Lana's emotions about the whole forging ordeal, it is my view that showing in depth the emotional aspect of characters is a lacking matter of Ace Attorney in general; which is why I enjoyed AAI2 the most. I believe making this part canon (since it would enter into conflict with AJ Turnabout Trump, at least the literal way it is shown in the game) would be quite interesting, though I personally have never liked how AJ's idea to change main characters was carried out and would rewrite the entire series altogether from that point onwards

@@onwu6894 well, if something isn't going over my head, in the grand scheme of things the canon isn't changed at all (sure Lana stops Trucy, but Trucy still gives Apollo the card - Lana interrupts the trial to speak with Phoenix, but afterwards the trial proceeds normally). These 2 changes might happen on-screen unlike all the other parts, but still I'm not sure the canon is affected

I don't get why many people feel the need to explain themselves when I ask for further elaboration xD I always ask for more details when someone points something out about my vids, because they might have noticed a plot mistake on my part that I may have missed. After all the AA lore is complicated and there's a ton of details that I may miss when writing the script. So I love it when people explain the lore further.

This video was great, though I do have a slight nitpick with how Turnabout Trump was rewritten (the case as it was is perfect so seeing this new version kinda surprised me), but it's fine haha, it was still enjoyable though for me it diminished the quality a bit, but I'm excited for the next part!!
I mean, the video was written in a way so that the trial wasn't altered at all (to the point where if Lana's intervention scenes are removed nothing changes in the general plot of the story) so I don't think anything is really diminished 😂
(Or maybe it's because I personally am not that huge a fan of the Turnabout Trump trial so maybe that's why I see it that way xD)

btw, I like how despite still giving the case to Winston like in canon, you still made a nod to the idea of it being Klavier. (I've heard people argue he should have been there even if it meant all cases would have the same prosecutor, because of the opportunity for drama and character investment that having him present as his own brother is exposed would allow).
I also love how you made a little nod to AA5
Yeah it just made no sense to me that in the normal game Klavier would miss the opportunity to prosecute in a trial with Kristoph and Wright, so I decided to use it as a plot point instead
As for DD, initially there was a whole scene with Lana talking with Means about it, but I decided to cut it because it would be too much extra time for an already long video xD
@@debastiansebeste Omitting that part was indeed the better option. It's brought up exactly once as part of a bigger point Lana was making, so having it simply mentioned in one line of dialogue makes perfect sense. A rare case where telling _is_ better than showing.
I also like the implication that he _always_ thought like that, rather than his views being a result of the dark age

@@dbclass4075 well, I'm not sure the timeline will ever enter DD, as the purpose of it is Lana helping bring down Kristoph Gavin, so after he's defeated it will probably end there

Great video! It seems(to me at least) this is the first real change in canon, with the trial interrupting and the pass off of the card denied. I’m curious if that was the plan from the beginning, or if it’d something you came up with as you wrote more?
I did think about it, but then again, even though Lana interacted more with the canon events, she still didn't change anything in the grand scheme (the trial still proceeded exactly like canon, and Trucy still gave Apollo the card).
So even though it nearly threatened the canon compared to the previous parts, this vid is still fully canon friendly :p

I really want to see how Apollo manages to get through the trial without the fifth ace. Or if he has to use it, Lana's reaction to that.
There's no difference really, after all Lana allowed him to keep the ace. So the whole trial played out exactly as it did in the game despite her interference. The ending of the video is a few days later after all, after the trial has ended

that ending was pretty sad. masterfully done as always! I love that this series isn't portraying Lana as this perfect flawless problem solver who changes the timeline to sunshine and rainbow, no she is having the right balance of success and failure, she is helping a lot, without carrying the whole team, and she's emotionally invested in it, getting moments of hope and motivation and moments of despair and self-loathing. it feels like an actual story being told rather than just "cool character interactions"
Yeah I didn't want Lana to be simply a Mary Sue but instead a character we all could be emotionally invested in, just as she was in Rise from the Ashes.

It depends on the artist really. In the anime her hair is fully blue. In Investigations it's very light blue to white. In the OG trilogy it's light blue.
So I rolled with blue to make it more distinguishable in Klavier's words :p
