Wasn’t expecting to see a Saul Goodman reference today. Anyways, I enjoyed how you connected Phoenix’s actions from Case 4-1 to Lana’s self-loathing and guilt from her time being coerced by Gant. However, Phoenix was right. The reasons why Kristoph chose the path are irrelevant. He chose the path that led him to corruption and murder without a shred of remorse for his actions for incredibly petty reasons. This series has sort of given me a knew perspective on a game I have very mixed feelings towards.
This is a great series so far! It’s really great to see such a masterpiece recommended to me especially since I started binging Ace Attorney videos recently. I am not disappointed! Looking forward for part 5, take as long as you need! :)
May need another TWO parts for this series. One to explain the grand plan of using the Jurist System to finally expose Kristoph Gavin and the other for the debriefing of the whole affair, with each of the detectives involved taking turns discussing the matter.
Another great video Sebeste, I can’t wait to see what happens next. Also a few things that I wanna share. First, back when Phoenix revealed to Apollo he presented forged evidence the reason he told him was because he wanted to see what kind of lawyer he was. He wanted to see his reaction because he needed to know if he would either accept or be proud about the fact that he presented forged evidence, thus showing he was willing to do whatever it took to win, or if he would be disgusted about what he and by extension Phoenix did, thus showing he only cared about exposing the truth and not over if he won or lost, so he could know if he was worthy of working for Phoenix and continue the legacy and teachings Mia passed on to Phoenix. The other thing I wanted to share is that I bet Phoenix came up with the idea for the MASON system after he did research on his family history, A.K.A Genealogy, and learned about the Jurist System when he learned about Ryunosuke and his adventures
I genuinely lost it when I saw Saul show up for a second. Also as always you did a phenomenal job tying in Lana with everything! Cant wait for the next part
Nice to see that DD Old-School Suit Phoenix getting some use. I was unreasonably happy to see Winston. And he had such a build up to his reveal, too. He's the true hero of this story, clearly. Also I was not expecting a Professor Means reference, but I am more than happy to see it. Another great addition to a great series.
I’ve been waiting all day for this drop, one of my absolute favourite ace attorney fan series currently running. I love how it’s also mostly canon compliant with a few deviations here and there. You do great work debastian

Phoenix is the chess master in this sick game, using Lana and her friends as pawns, so he can get revenge on this one dude who forged evidence that made Phoenix lose his badge, which resulted from Lana forging evidence in a trial thanks to Gant's influence. Like good grief, Lana Skye's Parole has so many connections, almost as if like how Von Karma caused everything in the main Canon trilogy because he got one fucking penalty.
Hey Debastian Sebeste, I think I would be interested in seeing you do a Mia Fey defends herself for Redd White's Murder and she has to find out who really killed him. Like I said, I wouldn't know who the real culprit is, but I imagine that the real culprit is someone who was hurt by Redd White, and they killed him to stop his blackmail, but they did it for their OWN sake, NOT Mia or Maya's sakes. If it ever seemed like Murder would be suspected the real culprit was hoping to pin it on Mia Fey so that the Real Culprit can avoid going to jail for murder.
18:20 - So... this is a reference to prof. Means from Dual Destinies? Wow... I have to praise the author for working out the plot down to such small details. P.S.: It would also be nice to see what if Phoenix Wright had been defended by Saul Goodman in this case instead of Apollo.

This video was great, though I do have a slight nitpick with how Turnabout Trump was rewritten (the case as it was is perfect so seeing this new version kinda surprised me), but it's fine haha, it was still enjoyable though for me it diminished the quality a bit, but I'm excited for the next part!!
I mean, the video was written in a way so that the trial wasn't altered at all (to the point where if Lana's intervention scenes are removed nothing changes in the general plot of the story) so I don't think anything is really diminished 😂 (Or maybe it's because I personally am not that huge a fan of the Turnabout Trump trial so maybe that's why I see it that way xD)

I really liked how you explored Lana's emotions about the whole forging ordeal, it is my view that showing in depth the emotional aspect of characters is a lacking matter of Ace Attorney in general; which is why I enjoyed AAI2 the most. I believe making this part canon (since it would enter into conflict with AJ Turnabout Trump, at least the literal way it is shown in the game) would be quite interesting, though I personally have never liked how AJ's idea to change main characters was carried out and would rewrite the entire series altogether from that point onwards
@@onwu6894 well, if something isn't going over my head, in the grand scheme of things the canon isn't changed at all (sure Lana stops Trucy, but Trucy still gives Apollo the card - Lana interrupts the trial to speak with Phoenix, but afterwards the trial proceeds normally). These 2 changes might happen on-screen unlike all the other parts, but still I'm not sure the canon is affected

Man...watching how all this played out really makes me feel for Apollo, and just how was essentially used for a much bigger game. This whole trial reeked to high heaven, EVEN TRUCY WAS IN ON THIS! But the guy didn't have a clue. And how you managed to connect this to Rise From The Ashes, and Lana feeling responsible for everything is beyond masterful. While yes, Lana does share a bit of blame in this, Phoenix is right (no pun intended). Kristoph CHOSE to go down this path, and commit these atrocities just to cover his tracks. It's one thing if he had shown remorse over the ordeal, but no. Phoenix sees this and now the gloves are off. These two men (Phoenix and Kristoph) could've been a powerful duo in the court of law, ushering it into a Golden Age. But thanks to them due to their pissing contest, this begins the genesis of the dark ages of the law. Phoenix knows the repercussions of what will happen by bringing Kristoph down amd exposing him, but he doesn't care. A man is at his most dangerous when he has nothing to lose. And Lana to her credit managed to put the pieces together and confront Phoenix about it. It's probably for the best that she did and not her sister Ema, as i could only imagine how hurt and disgusted she would be in Phoenix upon learning the truth. This whole thing was a dangerous game and with so many variables, people were going to get hurt. I ALMOST feel bad for Kristoph as he knows he's being set up but there's nothing he can do about it because the dude's already guilty. Talk about creul irony. Well done my friend. I imagine we'll see Angel in part 5?

Yeah it just made no sense to me that in the normal game Klavier would miss the opportunity to prosecute in a trial with Kristoph and Wright, so I decided to use it as a plot point instead As for DD, initially there was a whole scene with Lana talking with Means about it, but I decided to cut it because it would be too much extra time for an already long video xD

It's brought up exactly once as part of a bigger point Lana was making, so having it simply mentioned in one line of dialogue makes perfect sense. A rare case where telling _is_ better than showing. I also like the implication that he _always_ thought like that, rather than his views being a result of the dark age

This was great ngl, I really love this series, it really kind of "patches" the holes in the lore though with some slight changes (but at acceptable level). Anyways as always this series is the best I have seen and I would rank it to some others I have seen too(I don't watch Ace Attorney much but neither do I have plenty of time to watch youtube). Keep it up :) And will be patiently waiting for thy next part

that ending was pretty sad. masterfully done as always! I love that this series isn't portraying Lana as this perfect flawless problem solver who changes the timeline to sunshine and rainbow, no she is having the right balance of success and failure, she is helping a lot, without carrying the whole team, and she's emotionally invested in it, getting moments of hope and motivation and moments of despair and self-loathing. it feels like an actual story being told rather than just "cool character interactions"

There's no difference really, after all Lana allowed him to keep the ace. So the whole trial played out exactly as it did in the game despite her interference. The ending of the video is a few days later after all, after the trial has ended
Not gonna lie, a part of me feared that Lana would have exposed or prevented Phoenix from using that forged evidence. While what he did was illegal, Kristoph couldn't be taken down by conventional means

Great video! It seems(to me at least) this is the first real change in canon, with the trial interrupting and the pass off of the card denied. I’m curious if that was the plan from the beginning, or if it’d something you came up with as you wrote more?
I did think about it, but then again, even though Lana interacted more with the canon events, she still didn't change anything in the grand scheme (the trial still proceeded exactly like canon, and Trucy still gave Apollo the card). So even though it nearly threatened the canon compared to the previous parts, this vid is still fully canon friendly :p
It depends on the artist really. In the anime her hair is fully blue. In Investigations it's very light blue to white. In the OG trilogy it's light blue. So I rolled with blue to make it more distinguishable in Klavier's words :p

While yes, Lana does share a bit of blame in this, Phoenix is right (no pun intended). Kristoph CHOSE to go down this path, and commit these atrocities just to cover his tracks. It's one thing if he had shown remorse over the ordeal, but no. Phoenix sees this and now the gloves are off. These two men (Phoenix and Kristoph) could've been a powerful duo in the court of law, ushering it into a Golden Age. But thanks to them due to their pissing contest, this begins the genesis of the dark ages of the law. Phoenix knows the repercussions of what will happen by bringing Kristoph down amd exposing him, but he doesn't care. A man is at his most dangerous when he has nothing to lose. And Lana to her credit managed to put the pieces together and confront Phoenix about it. It's probably for the best that she did and not her sister Ema, as i could only imagine how hurt and disgusted she would be in Phoenix upon learning the truth. This whole thing was a dangerous game and with so many variables, people were going to get hurt. I ALMOST feel bad for Kristoph as he knows he's being set up but there's nothing he can do about it because the dude's already guilty. Talk about creul irony.

btw, I like how despite still giving the case to Winston like in canon, you still made a nod to the idea of it being Klavier. (I've heard people argue he should have been there even if it meant all cases would have the same prosecutor, because of the opportunity for drama and character investment that having him present as his own brother is exposed would allow).
I also love how you made a little nod to AA5
Yeah it just made no sense to me that in the normal game Klavier would miss the opportunity to prosecute in a trial with Kristoph and Wright, so I decided to use it as a plot point instead
As for DD, initially there was a whole scene with Lana talking with Means about it, but I decided to cut it because it would be too much extra time for an already long video xD
@@debastiansebeste Omitting that part was indeed the better option. It's brought up exactly once as part of a bigger point Lana was making, so having it simply mentioned in one line of dialogue makes perfect sense. A rare case where telling _is_ better than showing.
I also like the implication that he _always_ thought like that, rather than his views being a result of the dark age

This was great ngl, I really love this series, it really kind of "patches" the holes in the lore though with some slight changes (but at acceptable level). Anyways as always this series is the best I have seen and I would rank it to some others I have seen too(I don't watch Ace Attorney much but neither do I have plenty of time to watch youtube).

that ending was pretty sad. masterfully done as always! I love that this series isn't portraying Lana as this perfect flawless problem solver who changes the timeline to sunshine and rainbow, no she is having the right balance of success and failure, she is helping a lot, without carrying the whole team, and she's emotionally invested in it, getting moments of hope and motivation and moments of despair and self-loathing. it feels like an actual story being told rather than just "cool character interactions"
Yeah I didn't want Lana to be simply a Mary Sue but instead a character we all could be emotionally invested in, just as she was in Rise from the Ashes.

There's no difference really, after all Lana allowed him to keep the ace. So the whole trial played out exactly as it did in the game despite her interference. The ending of the video is a few days later after all, after the trial has ended

Great video! It seems(to me at least) this is the first real change in canon, with the trial interrupting and the pass off of the card denied. I’m curious if that was the plan from the beginning, or if it’d something you came up with as you wrote more?
I did think about it, but then again, even though Lana interacted more with the canon events, she still didn't change anything in the grand scheme (the trial still proceeded exactly like canon, and Trucy still gave Apollo the card).
So even though it nearly threatened the canon compared to the previous parts, this vid is still fully canon friendly :p

It depends on the artist really. In the anime her hair is fully blue. In Investigations it's very light blue to white. In the OG trilogy it's light blue.
