The only thing i don't agree with is Phoenix believing Kristoph. The ending in my opinion would be like this:
After Kristoph's testimony, the judge is moved and klavier is shook, but phoenix doesn't buy it. He argues that both gavin brothers are suspicious, and thus he is innocent. Kristoph immediately objects pointing out that Trucy defnitely did give Phoenix the forged evidence, Phoenix doesn't lie and says that Zak Grammayre immediately noticed it was a fake and Phoenix gave the page to him. Kristoph would object here saying that Zak could have been the one that forged the evidence, regretted it, gave to Klavier, that gave to him, that gave to Trucy to give to Phoenix. The judge is already lost at this point. Klavier is in the brink of collapse, but Phoenix doesn't bite down and calls Zak to the stand. Then 2 endings may occur:
Zak lies and says he met with Klavier to get a quick guilty veredict. Klavier is disgraced and disbarred. Phoenix is still skeptical and continues digging. Some time afterwards, Kristoph offs Phoenix Wright and blames it on Klavier, he even puts Apollo Justice, a rookie, to defend his brother,. It is now up to Apollo to defend Klavier without any assistance, maybe the tale is not over yet if Apollo defeats the odds...
Zak tells the truth and says he never met with Klavier before. (This one is a head scratcher, get ready) Kristoph calls bullshit but Phoenix argues that even if Zak forged the evidence, Zak doesn't have a motive to lie and try to cover for Klavier, because not covering for him would increase his chances of getting a not guilty. Because of that Phoenix proves that in all possible ways that this went down, Kristoph Gavin engages in fowl play. However, Kristoph does the Phoenix special of thinking outside the box and argues that Zak could have a motive for covering Klavier if he didn't want a not guilty, and he wouldn't want this not guilty if he was covering for Valant. Valant and Zak both deny that Valant did it. Kristoph just frames it as a desperate attempt to let Valant off the hook. Phoenix recalls that there wasn't any decisive evidence that pins Zak OR Valant to the killing, and the page would be the one to decide it all. Then it clicks, he remembers the contents of the fake page. This is his only chance. Phoenix begs Zak to show both pages to the court, and to truly believe that Phoenix will not only clear him but his brother, and that if he doesn't do that, Klavier's life will be ruined. Phoenix words ring hollow, as Zak made his decision a long time ago... Zak presents both pages to the court. Phoenix immediately points out that Magnifi was the one that ripped the page and gave it to Zak, meaning that he didn't have to be alive to see Valant, so he could have very well offed himself afterwards, and that the forged page would put more suspicion on Valant, the opposite of what Zak wanted. Valant admits that he tampered with the crime scene to frame his partner, but he didn't kill Magnifi. Kristoph is at breaking point and objects that Phoenix doesn't have evidence that Valant didn't kill Magnifi but Klavier quickly responds that the court doesn't have any evidence that excludes suicide. Phoenix and Klavier both point that Kristoph's theory is wrong and that he's the only one that possibly forged evidence. Kristoph desperately says they don't have evidence but Phoenix deals the final blow by choosing Trucy's portrait as his evidence. Trucy finally remembers and confirms Kristoph as the one that handed the page to her. Kristoph was bested by a 8 year old girl. Both Valant and Zak get a not guilty veredict, Valant is extremely regretful of what he did but Zak pardons him and offers to continue the troupe Grammayre with him, Klavier is moved by Phoenix's unending faith not only on his client but his opponent as well. This is the good ending.

Btw thank you for the pin. This one was a hard one to figure out, it almost seemed that Kristoph would win this fight no matter what, but it was doomed the moment he so blatantly gave forged evidence to a child

@BRAZILIAN_MIKU I just appreciate your take on the scenario. I also feel like the ending was quite bad, because it was rushed. It's very nice to see someone make their own version of the events I presented here, because even this video has potential for extremely compelling scenarios, the least of which was the half-assed ending it has.
Thank you for sharing your perspective, it means a lot!

Plus not once the "witness to the forgery" Drew Misham was called to the stand.

Good stuff! A thoroughly enjoyable alternate take on the '7 years ago...' case, it was satisfying not seeing Phoenix fall into the trap - he handled the tricky manoeuvring of the serious allegations exactly how I imagine a seasoned, post-T&T Wright would've handled it. I also like how you had the exchange between the Judge and the disgraced attorney about 'having a good explanation' coming from Klavier instead of Phoenix at the end, it made for a nice ironic echo of how the events transpired in canon!
To quote the Judge's brother, "I'm not sure how I feel about" everyone kinda piling on Klavier after Kristoph throws him under the bus, though. I guess I was expecting Phoenix to not get thrown off the scent given how fishy Kristoph was acting? There's also another point I would've felt might've been good for Phoenix to bring up in his defence - time constraints. He'd only just taken Zak's case the day before trial, would anyone reasonably expect him to be able to forge the diary page in under 24 hours? I know "Drew" is good at his job, but _that_ good?
Still, it didn't take away from this being an enjoyable watch that was very well put together. I suppose my critique could boil down to 'it ended a bit abruptly, I'd definitely want to see a longer version where Phoenix is able to drag the truth out of Kristoph at the stand' - i.e. would like to see more!

Maybe if this alternate version of events was a bonus in a remake of AJ or sth, then there would be a choice between just letting it rest or asking further questions "even if it seems pointless because we have a rather airtight chain of events" and the result if you win that extension is another alternate ending of Kristoph being caught 7 years early.

Honestly, you don't even need to go so far, you can change the timeline by letting Phoenix cross-examine Drew Misham on the stand:
Phoenix: "So, how long did it take you to make this forgery?"
Misham: "Oh, it was a weeklong process. I needed the original diary, you see, in order to make the forgery. First, I needed the extensive handwriting sample found from the other entries. I needed to match the pen, the ink, and I needed to create the exact same type of paper as well. Then there's the matter of perfectly matching the tear pattern of the diary- very tricky business that."
Phoenix: "...So, you needed access to the real evidence in order to produce this fake?"
Misham: "Yes. There would be no way to perfectly reproduce either the handwriting or the tear without it. Pictures simply wouldn't do."
Phoenix: "...Your Honor, I received the case record, including the evidence, only this morning. The diary has been in the prosecutor's exclusive possession since this case was submitted for trial. It was not possible for the defense to forge this document... unless they had access to the prosecution's evidence safe."
    Klavier: "...Wait a minute... Oh."

I’m really glad most people liked that line, as well as Klavier’s mini breakdown.
I wanted to make that scene feel like Phoenix’s scene where he’s being accused and he knows he can’t do anything but watch as his profession, as well as the truth, is ripped away from him.
Making Klavier do the same was for a different reason; I figured that he would be so appalled by his own brother betraying him, for what he believes to be no reason, that he just wouldn’t have found the right words to say anything back.

Think about it, Phoenix has been a very experienced lawyer at this point in time and knows what shenanigans can happen in court. Then suddenly a suspicious child hands him a suspicious piece of evidence that suspiciously fits in extremely well with the evidence the PROSECUTOR is presenting. It's like the most blatant trap ever. Even Rise from the Ashes Phoenix knew when people were blatant about their traps during Damon Gant's leather handprint conundrum.

Wow, first of all congrats on a well done video. The cutscenes were very well done, I could have perfectly mistaken it for a real AA game scene. I particularly enjoyed how this scenario made Kristoph look even more as a complete psycopath; seeing things were going south for him fast as Phoenix evaded his trap and figured his devious scheme out, he had no issue with framing his own brother for the crime and let him take the fall in his stead. The only objection I would have is that perhaps Phoenix changed his mind too quick in regards to who he suspected , if he already suspected Kristoph, he shouldn't have shifted his focus that fast. Still I believe this was a great Alternate Scenario, and I find it way more believable than the canonical version, in which Phoenix's 3-year experience was conveniently omitted in order to justify his disbarment imho. I would welcome with open arms a series of videos where the events of this AU are explored in greater depth, though I understand it may be complicated to decide on what hypothetical routes to follow. I appreciate the effort. However, I think that the main problem revolves around the Gant's like dilemma. In his case, he had to interfere because Lana was about to start talking too much, and he knew that Phoenix got the “evidence” from his safe and Gumshoe was the witness of that. Although it might seem similar, in Kristoph's case it does not allow him to accuse Wright of anything because no proof was presented by him in your scenario. And him presenting the torn off segment of a page of the diary does not prove anything as he claims. In my view, Kristoph wanted Zak's page to get nullified by a forged one or turn him against Phoenix and thus destroying them both. But as we know, Phoenix decides to take the whole blame, which after Zak's escape reveals to Kristoph that he has the genuine page and so Kristoph becomes restless for the next 7 years in covering his tracks of his involvement. Besides, it would be much better if Drew Misham was called to the stand anyway because Phoenix got Edgeworth's like argument that he has got not time to commit anything. Because he was assigned as a defense for less than one day, and Drew's testimony will corroborate that!

    • @lilmarcyx3
      @lilmarcyx3  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

I honestly feel the same. On the surface, I thought it could work because by this time, Phoenix was well known by his peers and so if he were to present the torn off segment of the diary, people would assume that there is more to it because of Phoenix’a reputation.
However I definitely felt that Kristopher could have been handled better in the sense that he definitely had no reason to just come out of nowhere and try to accuse Wright. I never even used Drew Misham as well, which is a bummer and I really wish I had done so because it was a missed opportunity.
But, Kristoph getting impatient and wishing to throw Phoenix under the bus felt something reminiscent to what he’d have probably done if, say, Klavier just never brought up the possibility of forged evidence, or in this scenario, Phoenix just didn’t have it with him.
      I appreciate the criticism!

I do believe that your idea of Kristoph throwing Klavier under the bus might work out. But I think Kristoph should interrupt the process after Misham's second testimony, like Gant did in Lana's case. Trucy's words should not be considered admissible as evidence. And here's the twist: After Klavier's final speech, Kristoph stops the judge before postponing the procedures and requests the recess, and then he convinces Valant to confess that he tampered with the scene. Zak gets an acquittal. In the lobby, just before Phoenix and Zak start to celebrate their victory similarly to the Stolen Turnabout, Kristoph comes to them. He says that his new client accuses Zak of illegitimately denying him the right to the Gramarye's name and demands compensation for tarnishing his good name. His case becomes more solid than Wright's because Zak was still not cooperative with him like it was from the start, and because Zak did not notarize the page like he eventually does in the original timeline 7 years later. Zak does not believe in the victory, and still decides to escape. This time, however, he steals the diary with the missing page, because of his pride and because he does not believe that Trucy would be willing to commit to his vision. The trial is put on hold. Unfortunately, in comparison to Pearl, Trucy, who was the witness to it all, became resentful towards Wright and blamed him for losing her dad. Wright felt partially responsible for her current situation and, like in the original timeline, adopted her. But contrary to Von Karma's methods, he decides to support her in pursuing her wishes, but in her good name instead of Gramarye's one. After 7 years, Apollo still joins Kristoph's office because he believes that Kristoph's case is closer to justice and Valant's name is illegitimately tarnished. Meanwhile, Klavier, while incarcerated, becomes a proto-Blacquill because, similarly, he holds some keys to the truth. The Turnabout Trump still happens, but of course in a different configuration, though that might be a story for another time.

  • @Goomenstein

I don't really like this version of events, or rather the ending.
Phoenix' punishment in the game is justified, because while he didnt intend to sully the itnergity of the trial, he did present forged evidence without verifying it. That is why the line "If I had a good explanation, would the court be willing to listen?" works. It's an acknowledgement of responsibility, but also an acknowledgement that he was totally screwed by a third party. That's why the judge simply answered with a "No.", he witnessed Wright present the forged evidence himself, so this was cut and dry.
Klavier in this case was merely accused by his brother and didn't make an effort to refute that accusation.
Phoenix is also known for actively selfsabotaging his case just in the name of finding out the truth. Granted, this happened way later in the timeline, but in Dual Destinies he practically has the DLC case in the bag, but chose to prolong the trial to get to the bottom of the case because something still didnt feel right. I'd like to think this trait of Phoenix isn't something recent and has always been present, at least since the Matt Engarde trial.

Most of this is great, but the ending is just dumb. Phoenix would never believe a testimony like that without a cross-examination. He digs for the truth, even if the testimony in front of him is good for his client. And Phoenix has seen Klavier actively pushing for testimony to be heard that would out the forger, which makes no sense if Klavier is the forger. I will buy anyone in that courtroom falling for it, but NOT Phoenix.
If Phoenix had simply asked Klavier if Kristoph's allegations were true, only for Klavier to sadly confirm yes, unwilling to throw his own brother under the bus, then this ending would have been perfect.

I love the setup! What if scenarios like this are so cool, hats off to you for making it!
These line of events are quite weak though. I don’t think Kristoph would’ve stopped the trial to accuse Phoenix out right, it feels too on the nose. And the fact that he called Trucy to the stand with no real plan, feels a bit dumb and way out of character for Kristoph. Like why would he do that when Trucy would surely rat him out?
It also feels odd that Klaiver doesn’t speak up for himself and let’s Kristoph blindly accuse him. The judge continues the trial for this accusation, and just passes a verdict without any evidence? I don’t see why Klaiver doesn’t have a chance to speak for himself, but Phoenix does.
Super cool what if scenario, but the narrative feels weak and out of character. I think the case could’ve continued with Wright not presenting the evidence, and then slowly getting to the bottom of the forged evidence throughout the trial.

"The judge continues the trial for this accusation, and just passes a verdict without any evidence?"
Surprisingly still in character for the judge. Remember, he was convinced to allow multiple witness testimonies just because he was given a calamari and he literally says: "What's with you people? Can't I give my verdicts in peace?" I'd be shocked if he postponed the remainder of the trial for the following week.

  • @poryg5350

It would be nice if it wasn't so fundamentally wrong.
First, Phoenix would not be happy with shifting the blame. He'd want to find the truth. So he would cross-examine Kristoph.
Next, you're omitting way too many crucial facts.
Zak asked for the lawyer change a day before the trial. Kristoph then told Klavier. Phoenix, Klavier and Zak can testify about that. Then there's Drew Misham. He potentially would be able to testify about the timeframe as to when it was created/requested. Other facts would also come to light. For example the fact that Kristoph had the diary until the lawyer change - sth that would further be reinforced by police records. In short, further examination of witnesses would provide more than enough evidence to disbar Kristoph.

You know seeing Trucy sad realizing she did something bad just reminds me of something I’ve been thinking about after replaying AJ AA. Did Trucy, during those 7 years, ever blame herself for accidentally ruining her new dad’s life by giving him that forged evidence?
