In this exclusive interview with Access Hollywood’s Kit Hoover the “90210” talks about her experience with DID as well as misconceptions about the diagnosis as portrayed in popular media. It fucks you up. Sexual violence needs to be treated Way more strongly, victims actually cared for. When it happens youre told youre worth no more than a kleenex, no more powerful than a kleenex, while the perpetrator gets away with it & does it repeatedly & victims are raked over the coals. It is insane. The culture of acting like its worse to be called out for rape over actually Experiencing it is INSANE!! So wonderful shes so open about it, we salute you!

    I think it’s fantastic that she is being bold about DID. As a sufferer, I’m thrilled somebody is using their much larger platform for good. We shouldn’t have to hide or pretend we have another diagnosis that suits doctors or other people better. We should be able to be unafraid and open about our disorder, because we didn’t cause it. We deserve proper research and treatment modalities that are not prohibitively expensive.

      @@niamh3225 do not be fooled by her beauty and celebrity. She is putting forth a false narrative about DID...if you do not have amnesia between yourself, the host, and the alter, then YOU do not have DID. She probably has ocdd or some other dissasociative disorder, but she does not have DID...she certainly presents that she has Borderline Personality Disorder and a Narcissist.

      Plus she kept saying “disassociative” rather than dissociative. And “others” rather than “alters”. Even when she said integration it seems like she’s describing fusion but there wasn’t enough info. Sounds like she doesn’t know a lot about her diagnosis other than what others are telling her. But she is still valid and still worthy of love and safety.

      How can you suffer from dissociative identity disorder for decades without it causing you insanity or homelessness? I suffered with it for more than 7 years and became hysterical, negative, toxic, out of control, and unable to function. Abusive therapists used it against me and that caused me to lose my good instincts, lose my marriage, my friendships, my studies, my work, my ability to write and follow through with to do lists, plans, time management. They also caused me to become obsessed with mental hospitals, insanity, abuse, homelessness, tragedies and think that is my identity and destiny in life and think that everyone was causing me to be that way when those abusive therapists were causing me tragedies the most because of how I trusted them and told them everything about my thoughts, actions, feelings and not my ex husband nor people I knew to that extent. Finding a good therapist, a good friend online friend, a good online support group a few months ago helped me so much.

      @@ytb8361 learning awareness, being mindfully present in your body and what activates a response, knowing the "why" behind all of those things and living with intention based on those tools makes an incredible difference. There will always be bad in life. It is up to our own perception and our own set boundaries as to what we allow to happen with that bad. Things have an impact and without awareness and positive coping adaptations, being stuck in maladaptive coping techniques is very real. Also, falling back into what has developed to become accepted as "normal" even if it isn't healthy is also something that happens without mindful awareness. We must always choose ourselves and how we can be present for our own needs to be able to be present elsewhere. Holding space for oneself to develop awareness for why we have certain coping techniques creates the opportunity to embrace new and more beneficial methods of coping and being within oneself.
      I hope amazing things have come from the connections you've made. I am a firm believer in "shopping around" for a professional that knows how to hold space and values me and my experiences without judgement. This took many years for me to embrace, along with my self worth. Boundaries and an unconditional love for ourselves is powerful in creating growth and leaving behind fragmented identities to cope.

    • @ytb8361
      @ytb8361 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@laideehart2070 thank you so much 😊❤️ I will learn to use mindfulness and intentional living again. I used to use spirituality, mindfulness, stoicism, Ryan Holiday’s teachings, productivity teachings by Peter Shankman and by Tony Robbins, Eckhart Tolle’s teachings, Louise Hay’s positivity, Brene Brown’s wholehearted living teachings, Michelle Obama’s confidence and lightheartedness teachings but abusive therapists corrupted thoughts that allowed me to do that. Abusive family members did it too but abusive therapists knew more about me because I told them more about me and they used that against me in worse ways.
      As you mentioned, without awareness and positive coping adaptations, a person can spiral very badly and lose everything very fast.
      I will choose myself, and how I present my own needs to be able to be present. I am also learning through processing and overcoming trauma, inner child work, anxiety reduction exercises and self authoring exercises by Jordan Peterson to learn new and more beneficial methods of coping and being myself.
      Thank you so much for your message. Amazing things have indeed come from the connections I have made. It took me years and so much loss before I was lucky and discerning enough to find a good, kind, competent professional who values me, my experiences and does not judge me. I am learning how to create boundaries and love myself unconditionally, create growth and own all my fragmented identities that I used to cope in order to reintegrate them instead of rejecting any part of me since not owning all of me is what caused fragmentation.

    People in the comments need to stop with the “I’m glad she’s talking about this...but I wish she had had said this, or I wish she said that, or that’s not how it was for me.” This is HER story. HER experience. Everyone has a different experience of DID. This is a short 20 minute interview, I’m SURE there are so many things she wanted to say that she didn’t get a chance to. Not everyone integrates or fuses in the way she has described, but it is something that is clearly important to her. If you have DID and that’s not something that you want then that is totally okay. Your journey to healing - whatever that looks like - is your own.

    We like seeing representation like this, but seeing intergration as 'the cure' is not very common among the DID community. This is how our brains have coped with trauma, we are not one, but we are a team, ready to take on the world. Therapy and healing is key to getting better, but saying we need to be a single personality in order to be 'normal' disheartening.

    The star for N.Y. Xmas-TV special, Hailey Andersson, is openly hurt on air by a frivolous still of her boyfiend with another woman. She rushes in her car out of the town when distracted by an incoming text message on the phone she escapes from a head-on collision, still crushing onto a by-road fence, which happens to be a Xmas stand of the local judge who will make an exaaaample, like 25 hours of social work into the children art center. My alters are not fragments of my brain… they are complete and separate people who take over when I (the host) am unable to cope. I have complete amnesia when they are out, I don’t sit back and watch them, they will never go away, and I will never be integrated with them. They are not “splits” they are whole people, watch your terminology because it can be very offensive to those of us who actually do have this disorder. Your story is not our story, be sure that when you talk about DID, you emphasize that this is your system only… every system is different. DID IS NOT CURABLE… you really don’t have a clue, saying you can be cured is a fallacy and a false narrative. Shame on you… if you are going to educate on DID, get your facts straight. Or go back to Hollywood.

    • @stevenglansberg4448
      @stevenglansberg4448 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How dare you judge someone for having a different experience than you. It would be impossible for your alters to be "whole people" considering you only have one brain and body. It would be more likely they are splits and she actually sounds like she knows more about it than you. Don't you think its offensive to her for you to tell her she doesn't have DID? What if I said i didn't believe you had it? Would that offend you?

      I am not stating that she does not have a disassociative disorder, but her description and DID and then being cured, is just wrong and misleading, she more likely has OCDD or something like that… equally traumatic but not the same as actual Disassociative Identity Disorder…
