    Thanks for this. I used my drill bits and extracting tool , which i hadnt used in years, to get the 3 bolts out from my carb earlier today. Beats needing to buy a new carb. Now to get replacement bolts with actual heads to them.

    If you use a left hand drill bit it often will catch the bolt and unscrew it in one operation. Thanks for the vid.

    Hey sir, my taotao 50 wasn't running, just cranks and cranks but no start. Watched your vid, did your tricks, cleaned the jets (with a blowtorch), then reassembled. Went to fire it up and it just cranked and cranked, I was a little bummed especially after seeing the idle jet was clogged, I thought for sure I found the issue. After a few more tries it fired right up to my amaze! Thank you for this great vid and i learned a ton! Thanks again! You're awesome!

    I have a scooter I got for free. It wasn’t running and would not turn over. These videos helped out a bunch I getting it going. I cleaned the carb the same way and I used throttle body cleaner which worked for most of it. The jet was so clogged I couldn’t see through it and could not get a wire through it. What I did was I used torch just like the video then ran some speaker wire to clear it out. You will see a little and I mean tiny puff of smoke when you use the torch method. I didn’t hold the flame up longer than 4-5 seconds and it burned the fuel that turned to lacquer out. BTW I held the jet with some needle nose pliers. Great video!!!

    Hello! I have a Buddy 50 cc scooter. It runs great except for sometimes it hesitates a little in the sense that it will turn off at strange times when I am going lower speeds or it will not turn on..
    In order to get it to turn on I carry a little screw driver and carb cleaner and I will take off the air filter cover and spray the intake with carb cleaner and put it back on. Then I go to start and it starts VERY good.
    It was just brought to a shop who charge like $200+ for a carburetor cleaning and spark plug replacement.
    The shop is called Boca Scooters…
    I am NOT convinced that they did honest work but I don’t know know for sure.
    I would like to have it turn on normally. (without having to have to spray the carb cleaner every time)
    I believe that I need to work on the carburetor again or get replaced altogether OR get a valve adjustment. I would like to bring it to a different shop but I don’t know really where to start.
    Gas is clean, premium used (50CC 2018 Buddy)
    Carb JUST got cleaned but NOT positive they did honest work……..
    Spark plug all new.
    Where should I start from here?

    • @RollingWrench

      I would start with 3 sizes bigger on the main jet, keep the stock pilot jet unless it backfires at decel, than go one size bigger. Start there.

    I got a linhai 4 wheel same carb. I got it to start and it idles just fine. I can even rev it up for like the first 30 second to a 1 min after start up. After that if I try to rev it, it boggs out and dies. I've checked for vacuum leaks, cleaned jets and even checked to floats, this a brand new carb. I tried letting it run till it warmed up, think it was just cold natured. Even after idling for 30 mins and its nice and warm its still boggs out and dies if it touch the gas. Got any idea? maybe a bigger main jet? I just don't know.

    • @RollingWrench
      @RollingWrench  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check to be sure the vacuum end of the fuel valve isn’t sucking fuel. Bad fuel filter diaphragm.

    • @anthonyplumlee1
      @anthonyplumlee1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rolling Wrench where is the vacuum end of the fuel valve located? Is it on the carb or on the bike. And is the fuel diaphragm the big diaphragm in the carb under the metal cover on top of the carb?

    Matt, I own a tao tao future champion. It has a 100cc big bore kit. I installed a 26mm 150cc carb. It runs like shit. What jets should I be running? It has a 105main jet but will not idle at allllll

    • @RollingWrench
      @RollingWrench  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What size big bore kit? If you bought it on eBay a lot of time people call a 50mm kit a 100 cc the is actually a 75cc the 52mm is a 90cc. Here in Colorado there is no possible way to run a150 carb on either kit due to our altitude mile above sea level. I would recommend installing the stock carburetor and re-jetting it to the kit. In Colorado the stock carburetor without being rejected works perfect for the 90 cc kit. However I have heard of some people at sea level running a 150cc carburetor on the 90cc kit and seeing big gains. I have no experience at I sea level . I hope this helps.

      I'm up in pa I had the 51mm BBK and I was running a 24mm 150cc carb a9 cam,pod filter and free flow muffler and it ran perfect since your on a smaller BBK I'd kick down your jet maybe 100 unless your still on stock muffler,intake so on just my opinion tho

      Yea try kicking that jetting down a little and you should be good even on my 171cc that has a 28mm koso d slide and that's more then enough for a 171cc if that kinda puts the sizing in a good perspective

    to center a drill u will NEED to punch a hole.. if u can simply take a screw/nail and a hammer to make a little small dent to put ur drill for it to follow if u dont have a center punch. just need a simple tap or two.. but pls use it so ur drill doesnt wander...and u wont have to use ur fingers trying to center the fking drill bit.

    If you bothered by such, end the EPA! You wronging the manufacturers for trouble they never wished to cause you - thy lose money to these extra production steps too. It is the EPA and its like that are causing all this as they rule that you are not to serve or adjust your own carb anymore.
    A set of broken screw extractors usually fix that issue. Center punch the broke off head, drill, and then punch the extractor in.
    With such crusty internals it always better to completed disassemble the carburetor, which is also need with carb cleaner, that will eat your seals and diaphragms otherwise! Seriously, carb cleaner kills seals and diaphragms!!
    Use a fitting ring spanner when removing the main jet the counter and then remove the needle section of the jet, it got fine fuel ports too.
    Rather then to heat any brass jet, soak it in carb cleaner for some time. Heating the brass jets will soften them up to be then eroded away by the fuel stream or the fall apart midway at some point from vibrations. So if you do use heat on the jets, be prepared to buy and replace then with new jets as soon as possible.
