I love this comment! What a great older console to start on. Great back catalogue, actually having disks to pop in and play without hassle. I hope you love it! Let me know what games you start with!
Man the 360 being called a retro console really make me feel old (I'm 23 yo). Even after all these years I still consider it (with the PS3) as some very capable systems. The graphics or gameplay haven't changed that much on current gen (PS5 and Series X) compared to what the 360 and PS3 can do at 720P.
Thanks for the cool comment Benji. I think the term 'retro' is much broader these days, more linked to nostalgia than a certain decade. But with the 360 20 years old in a couple of years, and the second generation of four (since 2020) I think it certainly can be considered to be around there. That aside I love it as a console as it seems to hit that sweet slow of still being capable without the hassle that comes with many modern gen consoles.
Haha yeah, ignorance is bliss. I’m like that with my backward compatible PS3. Even though I’ve serviced it, I still wince when I press the power button!
I thought the same thing. I just picked up one of those today for £39.99 and it was so refreshing to put in the disc and see the game load up straight away. Tested out the first 3 gears of war games, Alan wake and dead rising 2 which I also bought to test the console. I’m playing on a 24 inch monitor so it still looks pretty crisp but I really like being able to play my games straight away. My one x takes way too long with the mandatory updates I have to use after buying a physical game or downloading digital games from the store.
We are totally on the same page! What next? Having done the three GOW recently I'm just playing Star Wars Republic Commando (original Xbox but forwards compatible) then I'm going to start on the Halos...again!
The Slim was definetly an improvment over the original XBOX 360 console. It was a lot quiter and didn't have the missfortune of getting a Red Ring of Death. Plus the design of the 360 Slim model is just nice. Altough I wanted this model myself years ago, I had to decline it since paying extra money for online and having double A batteries for the controller was kind of a turn off for me. I know a lot of people grew up with the 360, but I didn't unfortenatly. I do have PS3, which to me was a good investment, altought I bought a PS3 during PS4's launch.
Hey thanks so much for adding your thoughts on the 360! The design is definitely nice, I have a Matt black one which looks great - I also think all the special editions like Halo consoles were done well too. I find the 360 hits the sweet spot for me at the moment and I’ve just finished replaying the Gears of War Trilogy. I also have PS3 amongst my other consoles.
I got an xbox 360 slim by going to the local dump, still worked and had forza motorsport content install disk, just wondering if it works with keyboard
@@retro_restorations The usb keyboard worked but i couldnt play games with it sadly. It had the install disk 2, not disk 1 which you need to play the game so rip
It’s caused by flex of the board and the chip. That’s why back in the day people used to try screwing the bars down but it was a terrible idea. Short term solution is stripping the console down and trying to re-flow the solder with heat. Linger solution is reballing the chip but is not time or cost effective at the 360 is so cheap these days.
I just got a 360 for my birthday and im fourteen in 2023 and the 360 is my first ever console

I miss when this was first released in 2010 such a good time
My 360s is currently my go to console for gaming, just finished Gears of War 1 and 2 and about to play 3 🙌🏻

The max resoluiton of an xbox 360 is 1080p
@@bigsof7381 Yes, but the vast mojority of games do render internally at 720p or a bit less, and then the console upscales that to 1080p.
Still have my 2008 white 360 up and running :) never used it heavily, maybe thats the reason it still lives :D

I remember the good old days when i had this xbox
Halo 3 and Xbox live. Take me back!
your going big man
Loving that! Thanks my man 🙌🏻
I used to have a white Xbox 360 when I was younger
I currently have a matt black 360 slim as all my consoles are black, but I might swap it out for the star wars one or maybe a Halo edition one.

@@retro_restorations I think the 360 was more popular due to it's online community, while PS3 was more popular with it's single player games.
im 56 still play mine
Brilliant, love to hear that Barry!
I will buy it tomorrow again
I lost previous one
Sounds good, such an excellent console to own :)
Love the 360s
Me too, it’s great!

I love it when there is a 'mystery' disk inside consoles! Congrats! I think you can use a usb keyboard with a slim yes.

Damn that's a shame. Great thing is a 360 slim is so cheap and easy to pick up these days.
